- I drive my 2020 Ram 2500 every day, so I thought it would be cool to build it out in to the ultimate TRUCK CAMPER which would allow me to survive for up to 5 DAYS Off Grid without me having to do anything. At any given time there's enough supplies on board to sustain me for that long - how cool is that?!

The moment that he said "Sideways Activities" I said to myself this video definitely deserves a like!
Hahaha thanks
This is probably my favorite setup of the dozens of videos I've seen so far. Don't usually comment, but wanted to say well done! I love how easily this can be converted from camper to daily driver as most others are much more complicated. Thanks for the inspiration!
I appreciate you taking the time to comment and glad you like the truck!
i was just going to make the same comment and someone already made it. everything they said. awesome build
I must admit, when you first bought the truck and said you were getting rid of the camper van, I was a bit gutted. But after seeing how you have converted the truck, I'm really impressed, and I can see why you did it. I love that it really doesn't have anything that's not necessary, and everything pulls out ready to use so easily and slides away just as easily once you are done with it. I really like it. I want it. 😂
Right?! I loved my van but the fact that I have all of this ALL THE TIME truly is a game
Changer.
I have been struggling trying to figure out a way to accommodate my dog for a future build and this gave me a few ideas. Absolutely brilliant build out!
You have absolutely inspired my husband to the point he is making his truck into a self sufficient off grid truck. He has made me watch this for homework, I am impressed. Thank you for your awesome video.
Haha I’m sorry and you’re welcome!!
An absolutely perfect set up. I’m truly amazed how this turned out. This solution is more compact and looks far better than the van. I believe it’s much easier to get around, especially in the "middle of nowhere". Good job.
Thank you!
This is a great set up. I do like that the truck looks so subtle that nobody would really know what is going on inside. Wishing you many miles of happy camping. Thank you.
That was the plan! Thank you!
Out of all the truck camper builds I’ve seen this one is definitely among the best ones I’ve seen yet! Good job mate!
you are literally the first person I see who has brought to life almost the same thing that I want to do (even the car is almost the same). THANK YOU
That’s awesome!
This is one of the best builds I have ever seen. I am with you that I have to keep it simple as mine is also my daily driver. Sweet job.
Awesome! As someone who finally moved out of a state they didn't want to live in, my next goal is to buy a truck and I will be using this for inspiration when I do my build!
Epic!
That’s actually a sick setup bro. I’m not a camper myself but today I turned 21 and definitely want to try rv camping like this in the future, inspired by your videos. Also love all the cool features you have installed. Much love from Australia 🇦🇺
Cheers mate!!
Wow! Wow! Wow! So well thought out and executed Adam. Happy roading and adventuring.😁👍🏻😁
That’s gotta be one of the best builds I’ve seen yet, love the kitchen!
Thanks Terry!
All u need is a 12V portable shower mate and a little bit more stored water ...all the rest is a spot on ! Brilliant setup...executed in a very practical way...thumbs up.
Thank you! I have a Rinse kit shower also 👌🏼
pretty cool man. I actually pride myself on showing up to my two regular camping trips per year and everyone is waiting for the next "camping gadget" I've come across. This one is by far my favorite. You should include it in your setup. I have used it for every purpose it was intended and was very impressed.
Lichamp 6-in-1 BBQ Multi Tool Set, Folding BBQ Tool Stainless Steel, Folding Grill Tool for Outdoor BBQ Grill
Hey Adam, there is this really cool watch brand called Holzkern and the make very cool watches with wood and stone. I really like them so I thought why not share it with you.
Sorry if the English is not perfect I’m still working on it! 👍
I love how stealth your setup is. This is right up the alley of what I am doing with my channel. Truck camping and boating. Cheers!
That’s the goal! Best of luck with your channel dude
@@AdamSwords thanks!
Spot on! Mate love the simplicity and it's all about form follows function. looking forward to the next adventure!
It’s really proven to be as good as I’d hoped too!
Super inspired by this! Getting ready to build a modular setup for our Chevy Express 3500 van. Its my side hustle van so I have to be strategic about a drawer system I can pull out when I need the van for work. Love this, great work!
Awesome! Best of luck Gus
I like the way you set this up, simple and soooo efficient. I love it. Thanks for posting!
Thank you! I really love it, haven’t had any issues yet!
Well planned and planned to suit your needs. I like seeing things that are cleverly planned out. Awesome build 👍🏼
Cheers!
I've owned 2 Rams myself and I love them. It looks like you found a gem there Adam. Safe travels buddy!
Great trucks!
This is an awesome build. Love the left side kitchen/pantry set up...incredible. Solar is cool as well...thanks for sharing!
Thanks Bryan!
Very efficient and extremely functional! 5 Star ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Nice set-up and thanks for the video. I am just getting into truck camping and getting ideas for my build. Keep the videos coming
Love the build. I’m overseas in Okinawa where trucks aren’t very popular so I chose a Toyota Hiace turbo diesel 4wd to basically do what you did to your truck. I just added a joolca hot water system and it has truly been a game changer! If you get one, get the full nomad kit. You wont regret it.
I love those Hiace!
Now a Toyota is what’s recommended for Death Valley due to its amazing reliability. Well done sir!
For a new UA-camr getting into truck camping this thing feels like a Lamborghini. Excellent job man! Look forward to seeing this thing in action. cheers
Haha thanks dude!
👍WOW what awesome job done to your truck Adam you and Chris are true geniuses. I am impressed ❤️
Thanks Sherri!
Great set up. Also nicely done video. Detailed and to the point. Enjoyed watching. Thanks and keep up the quality work bot on the vehicles and videos. Cheers 🍻
Cheers!
George from Icon is a great guy. I’ve been watching your videos for a long time now, then bought a ski. Then became friends with George literally a month after I bought it. We ride in Miami when he’s in town! Referring to the last video. Love the content as usual
Sweet!
A brilliant camp kitchen. I have done a huge amount of remote cooking and you smoked this build!
Thank you!
Great build sir. Love the set up and all of your options. Cant wait to see more adventures. Cheers.
Thanks David!
Good video bro watched the whole thing enjoyed very much
Glad you enjoyed, I appreciate it!
A very impressive set of ideas to solve pickup bed camping puzzles, and shows good craftsmanship too. I do have to point out a couple of things tho. Five days in Death Valley on that water jug and cold beer? Not a good plan in the summer time. You would need a lot more water and the truck would be an oven. Triple or quadruple the water supply, avoid the alcohol unless you can already keep cool and it isn't an actual "Survival" scenario.
If not for the solar panels being glued down I'd say dismount them and place them on the ground. That would allow you to shade the truck with two layers of tarps over the entire truck. One tarp above the other with an air gap of about a foot between the two tarps and another foot between the top of the truck and the lower tarp. This is a very old technique of desert survival, creates a space that takes brunt of the radiant heat, and allows air flow to move it away from the shaded area beneath. Done properly under a relentless summer sun in Death Valley it will still be hot, but not broiling hot.
The other idea is you have a lot more electrical power potential in this build than you are using. That shell topper and the roof of the truck look like three more of those 100 watt solar panels could fit. And you mention you already have a couple of high capacity LiFePo4 batteries. Places you very close to being able to run one of the small truck and RV A/C units! There are several brands out there. One more advantage is if you leverage the electrical system you can get away with carrying less bottled gas, or needing less for a long stay by having an electric cook top, or kettle.
Just ideas to add to your collection :)
That was a good build. I especially like the fact that you can't tell that it's a camper. I have a similar set up on my channel but the solar system is a game changer.
It sure is!
This is by far best setup to be so unmarked for multi user. Dude you definitely got my sub cant wait to see what else you do to it to keep it low profile
Thanks!
I want to second "callecoxxx"s comment. You can tell the effort and trial-n-error that went into creating the most efficient setup with the smallest possible footprint and keeping it modular. You said it perfectly..."I love the fact that I've been able to do something so impressive while being so unintrusive". It takes more time to figure out what you 'DONT' need, than what you 'DO' need. Thanks!
100%! “Perfection is not when there is nothing left to add, perfection is when there is nothing left to take away”
Very cool set up. This is almost exactly what I would like to build.
Make it so!
Nice, I tore out my back seat and turned it into a kitchen. If its raining, I can cook through the window of topper, or in the front seat. I've had to battle alot of rain storms in the past. I have a matress that flips up in the back for more room. I haul 2 Mt. Bikes with me and one is an ebike, having it inside is a must.
I’d hate to smell the inside of your truck 😂
@Adam Swords I hear ya, but I usually cook off tailgate unless it's raining. Just bought a rear awning, so maybe I won't have to cook inside.
Such kind of self made comfort camp with some luxurious discomfort in the fresh nature is really so much fun
Yup :)
Toot toot! Looking good, and giving Marty lots of ideas. Thank you!
My pleasure!
Great setup and good job to the builder . I have a tool drawer system that I built for my van, I used 3/4 plywood finish grade for all of it, the top slides in and out with routered edges to accept plywood to slide in and out, the drawers are 19 inches high and 2 feet wide by 6 foot deep, I have 2 drawers that slide in and out, the top slide holds the drawers from tipping out, all I used was furniture paste wax , the drawers are fit tight , inside the drawers I have wooden trays that slide on the top of drawers, they each weight 4 or 500 hundred pounds and I can easily pull them in and out, so don't be afraid to anyone that wants to build a drawer system that is wood on wood, with paste wax, my van has side doors that open up so if I need to get at the back of the drawers I open the back doors slide the top out and get what I need out of the side doors, for the front drawers I cut I hand hold out to stick my hand in to see slide drawers in and out, I love it and I would build it bigger and not be afraid, over time the wood slides better and better. I used glue and kreg pocket jig and screws to assemble box and drawers.
I love this kitchen set up. Will be making something very similar in the coming weeks
Good luck!
Nice set up. Also I’m laughing at your five day supply of beans and hot sauce! You better have a nice supply of toilet paper!
Hahahaha
This is a sick build! Definitely like a lot of the kitchen elements
Thanks!
That kitchen is the best design i havr ever seen
Thank you!
Awesome video and setup dude, looking at getting a ranger soon and will definitely be taking inspiration for the storage, kitchen and electrical system!
Just want to say well done Adam the truck is amazing buddy I would not change anything its perfect big thumbs up from me👍
Thank you!
you really did a great job. This is an accessible build; feels very do-able. Again, great work.
It’s awesome! Thanks
It’s such a sweet build. If I were you, I’d look at an aftermarket fuel tank. Several companies make extended capacity tanks that fit in place of the OEM tank and significantly increase capacity (I’ve seen up to about 75gal). It’s nice to be able to survive 5 days, but you need to be able to get somewhere safe AND make it back.
Yikes, it’s already expensive enough to fill 😂
@@AdamSwords It's cheaper in the long run as long as gas continues to move upward. FJB
@@AdamSwords If you fill up with the same frequency, it’s the same cost, you’ll just always have some reserve gallons 😉
Armadillo fuel bags for emergency
Great work! I'm going to do a lightweight version of this. GREAT kitchen concept!
Epic!
“Also some side ways activity’s as there’s no other way to do it” just got you an immediate subscribe
Was about to buy a van but now I’m really second guessing it, this is a truly amazing build, good work!
Depends what you need. I loved my van but the truck is a better option for me as a “weekend warrior”. Van would be better for longer trips.
Great video and a very impressive setup! I am about to pick up a 2024 Chevy 2500HD to build as an overland camping/bugout vehicle. You gave me a lot of ideas.
I love that truck! Everything is simply clever, great used space and a beautiful shell around. I probably would go for a little more headspace and think of an opportunity to go to the toilet or shower to really make sure camping in the wilderness for a couple of days is possible without feeling uncomfortable.
I have a rinse kit for showering 👌🏼
Nice Job..This is awesome 👌 Thanks for sharing 👍
Impressive 5 days off grid well done
This is wonderful love the videos
Very well done man!! Sick setup
Thanks Eric
Bro. I love everything about your build. AMAZING.
I appreciate that!
Wow @Mav would be proud, you guys should collab!!
Looks about perfect, only thing I might add is a topperlift system to give you more headroom when in the back.
Yup!
I have got the baby version of your truck, a 2020 ram 1500 HEMI, full crew cab and 6.4 bed. Your has hit the nail right on the head for that I want to do. thanks for the great video and all the helpful info. looks like I'm copying you LOL
Very nice. You have given me ideas for what I can do with my own suv.
For sure!!
Excellent Job Adam
Thanks Frank!
Adam your so inspiring your truck possibilities are endless
Yup!! Thanks for watching :)
Adam the ram rocks mate..... What a great job bud.🤘
Thanks Ron!
love this set up...I sleep in my Jeep Gladiator with a shell presently..I will be doing a drawer set up like this ...I also have a 270 awning with walls that close off the side and back for total privacy and out of any inclement weather that I maybe camping in...love your videos
Epic! Love those gladiators. You’ll love a drawer set like these
I like the energy, go get'em!
That build is incredible
Thank you!
Awesome setup. Shag by the mountains and dinner wagon. I'll take one of those
😂😂
Great van Adam. Go anywhere, live anywhere. Brilliant. (GB).
Cheers John
What a great build, well done!!!!!
Thanks Mark!
Great build! The kitchen build out is perfect. But I have to say....a 9" memory foam mattress!!!! That's incredible 😂
With a topper haha! It’s so comfy it’s wild
Hi Adam,
The truck looks sooo awesome and can't wait for the upcoming adventures with it. The van was cool also, but the truck looks even better. I need a truck like this as well ☺️👍😍😍. Have a great day Adam. See you hopefully soon mate
Cheers!
Your build looks like the Webner workshop truck build. Neat idea
Ahhh man when I saw that Nandos sauce as a Brit living in Arizona.... need to add some to my overland pantry!
Haha you do!
Definitely an impressive setup.
Thanks!
Genius! And no one would ever guess by outside of vehicle that you could survive madmax/societal breakdown situation so easily by bugging out in wilderness or anywhere off grid. I would recommend keeping the small travel Berkey water filter & a 12 volt plug in heated sleeping blanket for cold weather.
Yup that was my goal, under the radar but comfy AF
I do like those solar panels. Will be getting for my rig. Super stealth.
You’ll love them
Well done Adam looks mint
Cheers Chris!
Wrist check? Haha
Love the video's, we see you. This is how people hand over interests. Same as the famous moth... with love, proud and simply being you.
Respect and greets from Netherlands.
Thanks!
Nice truck and amazing drone shots.
Thanks!
Impressive setup.
Thank you!
Real nice setup man! I have to say that being a pepper has nothing to do with being angry or paranoid. It's nothing more than what you're doing... being prepared for whatever may come your way. Also, I would add freeze dried meals to your pantry to add a few more days, just in case. Also, water purification would be a must have. The other must have would be a firearm of some type. Shotgun, pistol or rifle.
Very good points there. I’ve just added a water purification system and I do have a few firearms depending on what the trip is. I’ll look for the freeze dried meals
Bro! Amazing build. Thanks for the video.
Any time! Thanks for watching
Excellent storage layout and excellent workmanship. You've given me some great ideas.
There seems to be a consensus in videos I have watched that 4" mattress foam is quite comfortable. As well, I think I will opt for a high rise truck cap, or a lower storage drawer profile. My wife is quite claustrophobic so I need as much headroom as possible for sleeping. As well, when we hit the road I think I will remove the two rear passenger seats to maximize storage space in the cab.
I’d do your testing at home with the mattress. Some of the prison mattresses these guys sleep on are beyond me. I slept on the 6” memory foam tri-fold bamboo mattress before I added the topper and I found that my hips, elbows, shoulders - anywhere with the most pressure would start to ache during the night. Once I added the topper - it’s in the top 3 comfiest mattresses I’ve ever had.
You wouldn’t want to go any slimmer for the drawer height either, so I recommend getting the extra height topper.
@@AdamSwords Thanks for the feedback. I have a Toyota Tacoma, so have even less space to play with. I have camped my entire life (now in my late 60s) and most of that time I was sleeping on a 1 1/2" inflatable mattress so my thought process is that
a) every inch counts,
b) my wife is claustrophobic,
c) from a camping point of view, 4" of foam sounds luxurious to me, and
d) everything is a compromise.
As well, I have a sailboat, and the berths are all 3" foam and it is almost enough for sleeping comfort,, but I do feel a few pressure points.
However, to your point, I will test the mattress first. In the end, the body will have the last say. 😊
great job!!! love it!
I have RAM1500 Built To Serve 2020 and have the same idea for set up. I have all the gear in a Decked, on top of the Decked with a BakFlip hard cover, and plastic milk crates in the back seat floor board. Looking for a topper now.
Gotta love the Cummins! I love mine😎🤙🏽
I agree. This is probably one of the best slideout camper kitchens I have seen
I really appreciate it!
@@AdamSwords Could a size-relevant one be built for a micro-camper?
Of course :)
Best build I have seen!
Thank you! I love it
Love your setup..totally impressed with the doggo bedroom 👍👊
He loves it too!
Goodness me that canyon view at 1:05 is sick!
Right?
Great job! Definitely need recovery gear. Love what you have done!
If I wasn’t trying to stay stealthy I’d 100% have a winch
Looks great
Thanks!
Love the setup. My Suburban is set up,similarly. Same idea. I can literally leave for a couple of weeks and as long as I have fuel and can find water, I’m good to go. Still wanting to put a couple of panels, a power station, and a fridge . I avoid canned food. With the extreme conditions in a vehicle, you have a better chance of the seals going bad, so lots of Mountain House. There’s fishing gear, as well as ammo and a spare mag for every gun I have…so WEEKS, as long as I have fuel and water. I even keep two 20oz flasks of bourbon wrapped up in a few blankets and set upright in a corner. Hey…survival does not have to be hard.
I will say I really like that you can not tell what’s going on from the outside. Currently you can’t with my Suburban, but when I’m done with it, it will look more “overlandy”. And what the heck is a “flameless log” ?
Perfect!
Adam, yet another fantastic video! Great video series idea maybe... across America with the Truck!?!?!
I’ll definitely be doing some driving with it!
You are killing it out there....... god wants me to get out there too...
Listen to the big man!
Love the build, I'm working on build my Tacoma but on a smaller scale obviously but your truck build is awesome and I just subbed.
