I have a 2008 Altima sedan with a 3.5 V6 and a 6-speed manual transmission. I only drive it on weekends and have 47K miles. There will never be another like it.
I've owned a 09 Altima 3.5 for 3 years now and don't understand why everyone bashes the cvt..... it is faster than the 5 speed and is more efficient. Sure it has a numb driving feel but if you want the gear feel you just stick it in manual. Which would be improved by the paddle shifters. But I do agree a 5 or 6 speed should be offered as a option. There are a lot of hard core manual drivers out there
2010 Altima v6 sr 305 hp this baby moves looks all stock cus it is but when that motor roars it’s sounds like a muscle car not a tuner I love it and I’m may b the only fan of smooth shifting transmission feels like there’s no gear no hesitation no problems and believe me you don’t want me to put it in semi it’ll blow your doors off just at 3rd 0-60 3secs
I had a 2007 3.5SE V6 Altima with 202,000 miles and I would RACE the hell out the car. I knew driving it hard, I would replace my CVT fluid every 30,000 miles. Nissan technicians always say 60k, but I didn't go by that. I also always ran full synthetic oil and always ran premium gas, sometimes ethanol free. Unfortunately, I no longer have it since an ass shat pulled out in front of me while I had the right of way and caused me to total that car. I miss it, but Nissan will always be my first choice.
You know a lot of reliability problems usually arise from not doing your fluid changes frequently enough. I think you had the right idea changing your CVT fluid sooner than the factory recommended. Thanks for sharing your story.
Kyzzle112718 Glad you defended the CVT. I have never had an issue with my CVTs as long as you do the maintenance it will last. That’s why I just leased a 2020 Platinum VC Turbo. Amazing car and better than my 2017 3.5 SL (which I still have).
The newer generation CVTs fake the feel of having actual gears when shifted via paddle shifter. Another effort by manufacturers to make the mostly hated CVT feel sporty.
why not Gordy? you then have a choice if you want to save gas or get friskie and have some fun at the expense of fuel economy. choices. all trans' are under software control anyway. paddles on th cvt work thru software to hold ratios in a fixed configuration. so it works. what would be a real cool reason for CVT would be user programmable shift points on the fly etc. you could then mix it up with different wheel diameters to get the best power curve out of your engine. what i dont like is the belt method though, for CVT. at some point you will always have slippage! maybe you havent heard yet, but Hyundai has come out with a CVT. its being offered on the new 2019 KIA Forte. and it is a CHAIN drive system instead of belt. now thats something! if it works (like all good Korean technology of present) it will put belt drive CVT s to rest! you can have a Forte with your choice of auto or cvt. got me real curious. F1 had tested cvt s way back in the 90's with some good results. check it out.
Jose Mendoza Gotta take care of it. Baby that transmission. I see people going in reverse and dropping it in drive and taking off. That's a no no especially for Cvt.

that torque from the turbo is gonna make that 248hp feel potent.Id like to see this race a accord 2.0t sport.I just wish Nissan brought back the 240 sx.Something small and rwd with around 215 hp to compete with the a86 and miata.Anyway I hope they next Z is gonna have the redsport 400 motor but hopefully with a little more oomph to give it around 420 hp

I think the challenger these days is fuel economy while still producing decent power. For those who want more power they can opt in for the Turbo Model.
I have a 2017 Maxima SR(300hp), Altima 3.5 SR(270hp) and a 4cyl, the 4cyl seem to majorly struggle with the weight of the car, where both 3.5L had a good to great power to weight ratio. Now the Altima the size a Maxima... Its seems the car might struggle even with the 4cyl. Turbo.
Well the torque figures are up even over the 6-Cylinder models and it comes in way low in the power band. I think it might be enough to make the car feel quick.

The 6 speed manual Gods have failed us

The turbo is just part of daily life now on modern engines. It gives the power of a larger engine yet the gas mileage of a smaller engine.

That's just one bug out of a shit ton of bugs that I have noticed that is going to make me trade it in once I'm not underwater on it.
Looks exactly like the Accord dashboard. Lol. They did exactly what Honda did with the Accord and took away the V6 and added a 2.0 Turbo with a little less power but around the same torque.
What was the point to making the Altima look like the Maxima? Its like they ran out of ideas.
Terence Brown no the people wanted a buffer car like the maxima. And the honda 2.0t is not vc so a big difference but i get ur point
Tony Euphoria yeah becuase toyota and lexus are the same company
CVT is always the reason Nissan cars don’t interest me. I use to love the Maxima manual....sad
Twin turbo maxima
That would be cool!
How does my 2000 camry make more hp than the 4cyl engine lol
Do you have the V6?
Sideways at 11 yes I do
I believe the 2000 V6 made 194-hp. So just a little more with two extra cylinders than the new 4-cylinder.
Sideways at 11 19 years newer id expect it be alil more powerful whether it's a 4cyl or not the altima have always been decent cars.
I think the challenger these days is fuel economy while still producing decent power. For those who want more power they can opt in for the Turbo Model.
Recall
Woooooow. Still using the worthless Nissan Connect.
Not a fan?
Eh...
Meet the new 2019 totally redesigned Copy Cat of the uncomfortable 2018 redesigned Honda Accord. Great copy to the D**n T
DomLouMiami Nissan introduced the concept way before than accord.
Haroon Ahmed haha... And what year was that?
If the new QX50 has the same engine with 268HP, why did NISSAN LOWER THE HP IN A "PERFORMANCE" CAR?? MAKES NO SENSE, I'LL PASS
93remix maybe it’s for the epa ratings
Making place for newer maxima?
Haroon Ahmed LOL LOL LOL, folks should just save and buy a Q50S instead of a Maxima... & I speak with EXPERIENCE
CVT 🙄
Hmmmm the v6 were 300hp it's down 52hp
No, the V6 in the Altima never had 300-hp. The highest power figure that ever came on the 3.5L V6 on the Altima was 270-hp
4:1 compression ratio... hee hee
Yea, my slip up there. Can you imagine though? lol
Sideways at 11 yeah, 30k rpm and 11 lb/ ft lol
lmao
CVT 🤮
Sooo..no 3.5L -.- No ty
A dying breed sadly and a trend most manufacturers are taking up. It’s all 4-cylinder turbo now.
I would have loved for this to have been AWD for both non and turbo motors
Mehh
Not feeling it?
Eh..Honda is still better.
