It is August 2020 and I was wondering how your Odyssey is now. Any more issues? (I had an old Odyssey 2002. It ended up with new transmission, then many years later a blown head gasket - at 125,000 and 17 years of age. So I just sold it. Super low mileage for a vehicle 17 years old.) I have been thinking about getting a used Odyssey......2018 or so. Very interested in how they are holding up. So I found your video most helpful. Sure hope they have fixed the problem for you!!!
2019 honda odyssey, has had nothing but electrical issues. Most common was radio making popping/cracking noise. Have had it in the shop 4 times now. Very frustrating.
It really would be nice to build a car without all the " supposedly " safety features and "computerized equipment" that will give you a better and a more comfortable ride. I am a forward Thinker, but looking back over the last 45years, cars was not that complicated to operate nor were they built with complex systems. It really would be nice if someone build a car that is not filled with computerized gadgetry that really complicates things while you're driving, it's like ,when you are driving you are preoccupied hoping that nothing goes wrong with the car. And they have started already building self automatic driving cars?
I had the same dashboard warnings flash while I was driving my 2019 Honda Odyssey van. It happened a few days after the dealership changed out my transmission at around the 33, 000 km range. I was told the tech did not secure the wires properly. Started having transmission issues at around 10,000kms and the lady at the service desk at the dealership told me the issue was normal. This van has also left me stranded at the 60,600km mark. The van would not start even with a noco battery booster. Finally after 45 minutes of trying to start it finally started up. Drove it to the dealership in Whitby and the next day they could not find anything wrong and here's your $79.00 diagnostic bill. I'll avoid Honda vehicles in the future.
i have a 2018 EX trim with the same problem and while driving at a 70kph suddenly the display shuts down several times and it was scary...what if the electronic system shuts the breaks off or the steering goes on the other side of the road? i thought Honda has the advance safety features

How can you not have damaged the transmission if it shifts into park at 45 mph. I would think it was junk at that point. My wife and I have been thinking of getting a 2020 Odyssey, glad I come across this video, looks like it’s back to the Chrysler dealer for me.
@@Myksgarage transmissions have a little fork that locks in gear, its not an actual gear that locks it. thats why it jerks a bit when its put into park to find a spline to go into. the fork just rode on top of the gear until it was going slow enough to lock in, i predict no issues with your trans lol
Richard, the Chrysler Pacifica has DEFINITELY had similar issues, at least the 2017s and maybe 2018s did. I was so surprised to read so many customers’ complaints about it.
Actually, I believe this is the issue I read about. I’ve read a couple of articles about it. www.consumerreports.org/car-recalls-defects/chrysler-pacifica-minivan-recalled-for-stalling-steering-issues/
You will regret going to Chrysler! Go with Toyota or even Kia has a good van, but keep in mind that every vehicle has its issues and will be fixed eventually.
My 2018 Touring did similar thing with the start and stop feature. I would Come to a full stop , engine would stop and just before it would restart everything went blank like I powered the car off. I would have to restart engine. Dealer fixed. My biggest problem is the useless entertainment system. Movies freeze 10 -20 min. , kids won’t use it anymore and van over 60k so SOL !
I would demand that Honda provides a roadside assistance package with a high mileage deductible. And demand an extended warranty beyond what you already have on the transmission. There's NO way that damage did not occur when the vehicle shifted into park at road speed.
Myks Garage I am in process of lemon law, waiting for the response from Honda. I have issues with infotainment system freezing unresponsive to touch, cabin watch, parking sensors, acc, wipers, sliding door etc. My tailgate was collecting water and I think that started to cause some electrical issues due to the wire connectors being in water. They are denying that and blame my dash cam for making an interference with system.
So I have a 2009 Honda Odyssey EX-l (215 km or 133 miles) , its 11 years old and the AC is the only thing that I have battled with and that is in the last year! Its been a great family vehicle and my wife asked to start looking into the 2018+ models which have the updated newer look and the 10 speed engine. (Earth Dreams Direct injection) Seems like there are issues with those too! I will have to say goodbye to this van soon and I assumed the new one would be bulletproof. I'm sorry its not. Tell me im wrong please.
You can't go wrong with Honda or Toyota. Every vehicle had it's issues and just because some one else has issues doesn't mean you will. If Im not going to upgrade from my 2012 Odyssey touring until it dies (only 135k) but I wouldn't hesitate to get another. The only Honda so far that I wouldn't get again is the Acura MDX elite trim. They have issues with the adaptive damping system (shocks). Mine have been replaced at 153k and now at 225k one is leaking already. The cost just for the one shock is $1400, that doesn't include install. Theres nothing special about them and for the regular shock is $226. Its a great car otherwise which is why I would keep it and just install regular shocks.
I got the same problem/issues with my 2018 EX Honda Odyssey..it happens to me several times while driving @ 70kph imagine that the electronic system shuts down at a high speed...imagine how dangerous and scary was that...also got the same issues like "Engine Management System Problem"..."ACC Problem:... "Road Departure Mitigation System Problem"I've been bringing my van several times on a dealership and they can't find the real root cause of the problem they change the battery even tho it's a brand new battery and they telling lots of allibys and later found that the problem was the fuse panel under the driver side and replace the whole assembly...since then i don't have any problem or bad experience after that..
I thought this might happen and hesitated to buy the new Honda with auto press buttons seems the incidence is more then once. I prefer old true and tested then the new old reliable mechanical shift. Not to mention other companies made mistakes under new leader ship like Chrysler and Mercedes and now Tata and Land Rover quality is declining and so is quality control.
The soldier joints weaken on other vehicles like speedometer on my ford minivan changed 3 times as would not show mileage. I suspect this will be an issue on other new vehicles with more electronics managing our driving. I hope not but seeing this is a sign.
I have a 2019 honda odyssey touring at 25000 miles it developed a noise on the front at take off. After 3 trips and many part's changes, they finally solved the problem by tighten all under carrier bolts to factory specifications . I let Honda know about this and I haven't heard from them. This automobile is put together by American workers btw . Not a happy owner
Any chance it sounded kinda like a spaceship or siren and went away after maybe a couple seconds and only at initial acceleration? Trying to solve my mysterious noise issue. I do have the engine management system problem and has these issues from the video once before
So i have had the 2019 touring model and it has been an absolute nightmare! Let's begin the fact that I serve in the military and am stationed overseas. Next the issues: Tire comes off the rim while driving it. Fuel cover keeps opening on its own All of the warning lights come on and won't go away Blue ray DVD player goes out or TV will not work Despite all of those things I've been getting it to the dealership here an a they have been working on these issues. 7 recall notices this far with no end in sight. Hence, I have made the decision to fix the last bit of issues with it and sell it. I've been driving Hondas for over 20 years now and this is the first one with this many issues. I've lost total trust in Honda. Pandemic aside they could care less about my family's safety. I paid over 45k for this piece of s***. If you are considering a new vehicle DO NOT BUY FROM HONDA OR ESLE PREPARE TO SUFFER OR POSSIBLY DIE!
Yeah okay I get it, you had one problem that was corrected, yes it took time to figure it out but as you said it has not happened since. If that is your only issue does not appear as if the odyssey is a problematic vehicle it's more human error the vehicle error. ie a Human or machine did not tighten a cable, a human could not trace issue. But the engineers at Honda figured it out. All vehicles regardless of make have errors they are machines, machines have issues. Honda and Toyota reliability are pretty much beyond compare, I don't feel you have a bad vehicle just a bad situation

This car has issue man. I am trying to figure what the solution is. My car only has 45k miles now and I bought it "used" in 2022. In my first week owning it, I get all these messages showing on dash. Then it would let me still drive it and the messages would go away the next day I started the car. This happened twice in the first 9 months of me owning it. This week is the worst, it would stop in middle of road every day this week and flashes warnings on dash again. I took it to Honda today and they said the battery is bad. Ok, after picking up the car just now, it is still doing it after battery swap. I paid 270 for this unneccessary battery. HONDA, this model of ODYSSEY is pure scam. Please do something to fix this issue. I bought this car because I have faith in your quality and I compare your quality with Toyota. Now after owning a Toyota for last 7 years, I have to say this Honda and this ODYSSEY is really disappointing in terms of quality. I rarely write anything on UA-cam but this situation is just NOT right. You can't be selling car to the public when the car can stop in the middle of the road during driving mode. There has been so much postings on line and is also happening to brand new bought odessey too. You will make me loose huge amount of money if I end up having to sell this mess to someone else. I bought it high during pandemic. GOSH this sucks. This car is great if I do not have this intermittent problem.

I sold it shortly after making this video, so I can’t speak to its long term reliability
2019 honda odyssey, has had nothing but electrical issues. Most common was radio making popping/cracking noise. Have had it in the shop 4 times now. Very frustrating.
Yeah mine had some serious issues
It really would be nice to build a car without all the " supposedly " safety features and "computerized equipment" that will give you a better and a more comfortable ride. I am a forward Thinker, but looking back over the last 45years, cars was not that complicated to operate nor were they built with complex systems. It really would be nice if someone build a car that is not filled with computerized gadgetry that really complicates things while you're driving, it's like ,when you are driving you are preoccupied hoping that nothing goes wrong with the car.
And they have started already building self automatic driving cars?
You make a very good point. The more gadgets, the more problems!
I have a 2018 touring with 38k no problems what so ever love the Van
Thanks for watching
Sounds similar to what I experienced! Yeah I’m done with Honda’s as well
@@Myksgarage Get a toyota , even hyundai`s and kia`s dont have this kinda problem.
@@depecheddurand hunday and Kia are just easy target
Sorry about your luck, I have 2018 Touring 61k no issues.
Thanks for watching
I heard lx ex trim are great but higher trims are trouble maker.
I think that is right on!
i have a 2018 EX trim with the same problem and while driving at a 70kph suddenly the display shuts down several times and it was scary...what if the electronic system shuts the breaks off or the steering goes on the other side of the road? i thought Honda has the advance safety features
Thank you for this. It happend to us on the way back. Form orlando ended up needing a jump and so far so good. But still. All the buttons and no control of the engine and machine this is the type of fears i always had. Just Like windows pc one bad file error and the whole machine shuts down.
What year is yours?
@@Myksgarage its a 2019
@@Myksgarage we parked to fill up. Then when i tried to start it back up the steering lock message came up. Then tried again after a few minutes tried again and a lot of errors on the dasjboard appeared. Then it just flickerd in error and just battery drained to shut off. After about an 1 and half someone helped to jump it and boom it started up
I have 2019 elite with the same issue, they replaced the transmission
I'm sure mine needed replacing as well
Check out my review video of this Odyssey

Dwayne Johnson wow do you think you should have gotten the extended warranty plz reply and do you have the Touring trim ?
Software electric and battery drainage issues is causing the car not functioning correctly and the company isn't responding to these problems..Thanks for sharing..
Truth is the battery power distribution the power is distributing less as time goes by..
There is nothing wrong with transmission or engine it is the power distribution too these things and more..
Thanks
Going into park while deiving? Wtf? That must have been hard in the tras fir sure
Ummm….yeah it was bad. It happened like 4-5 times
is this a common issue ?
It was a problem with mine, not sure how widespread it is
How can you not have damaged the transmission if it shifts into park at 45 mph. I would think it was junk at that point. My wife and I have been thinking of getting a 2020 Odyssey, glad I come across this video, looks like it’s back to the Chrysler dealer for me.
I’m not sure, the dealer said it was not damaged. We’ll see I guess....
Yeah that's frustrating!
I would demand that Honda provides a roadside assistance package with a high mileage deductible. And demand an extended warranty beyond what you already have on the transmission. There's NO way that damage did not occur when the vehicle shifted into park at road speed.
Yeah I already sold it. I couldn’t get rid of it fast enough
watch on UA-cam what happens when you shift a car into park at highway speeds. it does nothing. transmission has a lockout safety. can't go into park.
Get your Odyssey Accessories here: amzn.to/39JV2SQ
Mine 2019 elite was at the dealerships over 30 days within 11 months
Did you get Honda to buy it back as a Lemon?
Was yours having the same issues as mine ?
Myks Garage I am in process of lemon law, waiting for the response from Honda. I have issues with infotainment system freezing unresponsive to touch, cabin watch, parking sensors, acc, wipers, sliding door etc. My tailgate was collecting water and I think that started to cause some electrical issues due to the wire connectors being in water. They are denying that and blame my dash cam for making an interference with system.
Myks Garage mine wasn’t shifting to park but it went to dealership for recall on that as well as timing belt that could snap.
Was the timing belt a recall item?
So I have a 2009 Honda Odyssey EX-l (215 km or 133 miles) , its 11 years old and the AC is the only thing that I have battled with and that is in the last year! Its been a great family vehicle and my wife asked to start looking into the 2018+ models which have the updated newer look and the 10 speed engine. (Earth Dreams Direct injection) Seems like there are issues with those too!
I will have to say goodbye to this van soon and I assumed the new one would be bulletproof. I'm sorry its not. Tell me im wrong please.
Not bullet proof....maybe the Toyota would be a better buy.
Yeah mine was a fuse box cable as well. I’m not happy with this vehicle!
Myks Garage i also seeing some problems on automatic sliding doors that not closing properly several times
Yeah it has been a problem!
Sadly it doesn’t surprise me to hear these kind of quality control issues. They have really slipped in that department
Any chance it sounded kinda like a spaceship or siren and went away after maybe a couple seconds and only at initial acceleration? Trying to solve my mysterious noise issue. I do have the engine management system problem and has these issues from the video once before
I like to buy used cars, bugs have been worked out.
Yes that’s a good strategy
Thanks
So i have had the 2019 touring model and it has been an absolute nightmare! Let's begin the fact that I serve in the military and am stationed overseas. Next the issues:
Tire comes off the rim while driving it.
Fuel cover keeps opening on its own
All of the warning lights come on and won't go away
Blue ray DVD player goes out or TV will not work
Despite all of those things I've been getting it to the dealership here an a they have been working on these issues.
Thanks for sharing your experience, what a mess!! I was lucky enough to sell mine a few months ago and I haven’t missed it at all!
Yes, but it was a big problem.
@@Myksgarage I agree but things like this happen a lot. You did not by a Honda because you didn't trust it. You bought in part because their history is that you get an excellent vehicle at a nice price point.
Honda should take back production to Japan for these, they arent cheap especially in elite trim.
Exactly!
@@Myksgarage I have an old 2002 with 188,000 miles guess i cant be too angry the transmission just threw me a CEL light. I think the new ones are mostly assembled in Alabama, been hearing about questionable build quality since the current 2018+ debuted. How do you like the ZF transmission?

Yeah that sucks! I won't own another Honda after the problems I had with mine.
Yeah our issues aren’t transmisión, biggest issues we’ve had are the radio/nav screen going on and off. Most Net never works, the audio goes out and the Bluetooth for the phone is trash. I won’t be buying Honda again.
I hear ya!
Looks like the guys in the manufacturing plant were drinking
Exactly! Poor quality control
Not a big fan of these button gear !!!!
Yeah me neither!
The car malfunctions in a way that could kill your family and people are criticising you for being negative. : /
Exactly!!
Probobly got a lemon
Yeah that’s what I think too....
Definitely. These are solid vehicles when you get a good one which is almost all of the time.
Honestly my father bought a 2016 odyssey and transmission went out at 40000 miles we babied the car and drove it like a grandma . Odyssey's are garbage I hope you switch this vehicle to save yourself money my brother 👊
Thanks for sharing your experience. I’m having a bad experience with this one as well
@@Myksgarage it's so strange like all their other vehicles are phenomenal and have that Honda quality but for some reason this one is unreliable

I had 2015 Odyssey. I bought it brand new . Just after drove about six months transmission starting to act funny . jerk few times. take back to dealer. All they tell me change transmission fluid. Sometime I tell myself . what a piece of crap .
Yeah I believe it, and the new ones are not any better
This is one of the worst Honda vehicles. The steering is sloppy kinda feels like driving a 1990s model Chevy truck
No lane assist doors auto will close on you lots of wind noise to many buttons that dose basically nothing
Like turning on air what’s up with this shit
25 cup holders
Yeah I agree
You complain too much, next time take the bus, then. Also, a donkey will do the job too.
After Spending 50k on a van, I have have every right to complain! Consider yourself warned!
Stop lying!
I know, it was a lot worse than explained it to be.
@Glenn Young Wow I need to read that. Id get a Toyota but the crash test is better in Honda. Crashing into something vs car failing and killing you and everyone else inside and outside, priceless.
@@batman1169 You are right. I hated our 2018 odyssey because of the door issues we had. Then my wife and son got in a terrible accident that totaled the van. They came out with minor injuries. I'm buying another odyssey because of that reason only.
