I'll admit, I'm under 30, single, and if someone gave me $40k to buy anything, I'd find me an Odyssey EX. Plenty of power, not too many features I don't need. And comfortable with a high seating position. Plus, useful when family comes to visit. Thank you for this humble and thorough review!
Here are few things I want to add after driving for couple of weeks (LX trim) (1) there is snow drive feature which is helpful (2) when in economy mode, engine really drags (3) there is sports mode which is cool and sticky shifts if you like them (4) displays tire pressure on panel -cool (5) sun glass holder gives you 360 degree view of all seats. Pretty helpful with kids (6) entertainment system is really weak in 3rd row. Almost non existent. (7) Back door button on remote is not for LX (8) no lumber adjustment in LX (9) no hand rests in middle row (pretty weird to sit) but doesn't matter If u put kids seat
The fuel tank is too small for that engine. I drove 1000kms to and from, i had to fill the tank 4 times. So i asked the manager at the dealership if they can change the fuel tank. Our first 2019 Honda review is up! Enjoy our review on this LOADED family-hauling beast, and don't forget to hit those LIKE and SUBSCRIBE buttons if you liked the video :)
We bought a 2012 Honda Odyssey EX-L to replace our 2006 Toyota Sienna XLE. We were thinking about an SUV, because we didnt want to have another minivan, but no SUV could fit our 2 dog kennels. So, we said, "screw it" and just got another minivan. best decision ever and is definetly an upgrade from our 06. We now have leather seats, multifunction display, and heated seats!
I don't understand the minivan stigma. it's cheaper, more practical, funner to drive, better mpg than the pilot or any other full size SUV! amazing review!
no 33 miles on electric battery, no 360 degrees view , not automatic parking, only one instead of two screen in the back seat, and sooo many other things, and for the same price i can get a all of that and more in a Chrysler, so no thank you, great review thought, thank you for helping me make my mind, saved me a lot of time.
Chrysler is a junk company. Sure you may get a little more, but if you want something that will last stay away from Fiat Chrysler. Save your money and buy or lease the Odyssey or Sienna instead.
I'm not a brand fanatic with the exception of hating GM products after several failures. I like Japanese reliability though. How many Dodge Grand Caravans or Chrysler Town and Countrys do you see for sale with 250,000 miles on them and still running? How many Odysseys? You'll find LOTS of perfectly running Odys with huge miles on them.
I miss my odyssey already Friday I got in a car accident someone t-bone our odyssey insurance called it a total loss but I’m definitely getting another one I love it 🥰
Third row seats fold over into tailgating seats when the back hatch is up. Also there is a little hook on the passenger side of the front console to hang a garbage bag, purse, etc.
We’ve had two Odysseys previously, a 2000 and a 2006. My husband is a huge fan of Honda having owned Odysseys, a Pilot, an Acura, a 2 Honda Accords. We are considering a new Odyssey, a Pilot, or an MDX for our next vehicle. Haven’t decided yet which one. We loved both the Odysseys and this might be what we buy again. So much room and drives like a car and very comfortable on long trips. And if you need to carry extra people, no problem.
We purchased a 2016 Honda Pilot when it first came out and traded in our 2014 Honda Odyssey for it. My wife really wanted to drive a "cute SUV", so we downsized to the Pilot. With 3 kids, it's miserable. It has far less room, no adult can really get into much less fit in that 3rd row and ride in it for more than 30 minutes before being in pain. We had to get a roof rack and car top carrier to go on weekend vacations as a family because we had no room in the car to pack. In the end, we are looking at the 2019 Honda Odyssey Elite and trade back to it. So much less hassle, looks great, and offers more for the same cost as our Pilot.
Honda needs to re install the rear air-conditioning condenser so that cooling is improved for the rear seats. Older versions of the Odyssey had a a rear condenser, but not this newest, latest Odyssey. Reports have come back that the single condenser cannot adequately cool down the entire cabin, so the rear rows can get stifling when the weather turns hot and humid.
Got a link to the reports? I'm a big fan of ceramic tint on my vehicles for the superior heat rejection and in every vehicle I've had it in, the AC struggled FAR less than before I had the vehicle tinted.
I would buy, and drive this. I like it. It would have been extremely impressive with a panoramic moonroof. Removing the entertainment screen, and placing them to the front/2nd row headrest.
I have a 2014 Honda Odyssey with Navigation, and I recently purchased a 2019 Odyssey EX-L. Here are my likes and dislikes between the two. The 2019 is more expensive but also comes with additional new features that I think probably make it worth it such as the rear seat entertainment system (this was optional in 2014), fog lights, cabin talk, remote start, brake assist, capless gas tank and so forth. The 2014 had a feature where you could view your right blind side through a camera when you pushed a button or turned right. That is now gone. I miss that a lot. In the 2014, the driver side mirror was a weird split mirror. I am glad that is gone. I like the push button shift gear in the 2019. I find that I can shift gears faster. I don't like the new parking brake in the 2019. Hard for me to find. I don't like the new navigation/music system. The buttons are small, and hard for me to find. I liked the 2014 system better where you had two screens, one for navigation, and one for music. You could see the navigation and change music preferences. Now in 2019, they all share one screen, so it is too cluttered. In 2014, you had a small cooling "fridge." That is now gone, unfortunately. I like the navigation better in the 2019. It's a touch screen now instead of turn wheel, and you just type in the address like Google. Overall, although there is a lot to like about the 2019 Odyssey, I think I still prefer the design of the 2014 a little bit more. I still enjoy driving both vans however.
Yes ma'am you can. The LX is the only trim in which you cannot remove the second row center seat. On all other trims, there is a front strap you pull, fold the seat forward, and lift out. The seat weighs 30lbs and is a pretty neat system.
There is also a pretty good size drawer that slides out into that huge opening between driver and passenger it’s great for holding your hand sanitizer!
I’ve been hearing a lot about electronic issues on this model. More fancy more problems. I hope you review an odyssey with 100,000 km on it to see what all they gone through.
Great question! Since this is a family hauler, very few reviewers remember to point this out. The Honda Odyssey has a class leading LATCH in all second row seats and two outboard seats in the 3rd row and a Rear Tether anchor in ALL rear seats including the middle seat in the 3rd row. Couple that with the ability to fit 3 car seats across the second row, you could have 6 children in car seats in the Odyssey safely & correctly installed.
Practical and smart parents know minivans are just the logical way to get around. The sliding doors alone is reason enough to buy one because of the baby carriers. Then kids tend to just open doors fully if you have the SUV or cars.
Had a VW Atlas for over a year and it was great... until we had our third kid. We thought the third row was all we needed. We did NOT realize how much of a pain it would be putting the 2 year old in the third row, the newborn in the driver's side second row, and the school aged one in the passenger side second row. The school aged one HAD to have that seat because the school will only allow your child to exit and enter from the passenger side for safety. We're trading our Atlas in today for an Ody Elite because it will allow our oldest to climb in via the removed middle second seat and buckle/unbuckle himself in the third row without any parental involvement.
I'll put this out there for potential buyers. The rear entertainment system and cabin watch have a known issue where it will cause the system to crash when they are both used at the same time. This has been going on now since the new 2018 design was launched and has still not yet been corrected in the 2019 model. Honda doesn't have a solution yet for this issue. The sales team won't speak of this issue when you go to purchase a new van and the service team continues to give owners the run around constantly claiming it's going to be fixed in the next update. 4 updates later and its still not fixed.
The fuel tank is too small for that engine. Less than $50 the tank is full and on the range it will read 429km. Here is thing i drove 1000kms round trip and i had to fill the fuel tank 4 times. So i asked the manager at the dealership if they can change the fuel tank. He said we already have a lots of complaints and we advised our customers to carry Jerry cans when driving around, especially long distances.
@@samuelnkomazana7630 You've posted this comment all over the place. Are you shilling for another brand? Fuel tank size is kind of an odd hill to choose to die on.
have they solved the Dream Engine oil/gas mix up issues with direct fuel injection that cause dirty intake and exhaust valves? or was this on the Pilot and civics only?
2019 Honda odyssey, i think they have to upgrade the fuel tank. If i can compare 2015 Honda odyssey and 2019. 2015 Odyssey i was filling the fuel tank around $70 to $80 and i will get a lots of mileage out of it, i will drive more than 700kms. Now i have a 2019 Odyssey and i will fully fill the fuel tank less than $50 and i will drive up to 400kms and the fuel tank it's empty. The manager at the dealership told me to carry Jerry cans around.
The Odyssey has a 429 mile range. That's about 8 hours of solid driving. Unless your job is on the road trucking or medical organ delivery cross country, asking for a bigger tank is silly. Fuel is HEAVY. Weight impacts fuel economy. You can't have both a giant fuel tank AND great fuel economy. There is no free lunch.
So let me get this straight, No 360 view cameras available in any trim level but they’ll include a time waisting sport mode & paddle shifters in a minivan 🤔🤔🤔
Dom Jr The paddles and sport mode make a lot of sense given that this van has the 3.5l Earthdreams V6 with VTEC. 5300 rpm and this van comes alive and you hear the exhaust note change and your tires chirp as you smack the paddle into 3rd gear. Even if it's not about speed, the Odyssey is rated up to 5500lb towing capacity so having control over which of the 10 gears you have in the Touring and Elite trims helps a lot when hauling a small trailer.
Great review with tons of relevant info - will definitely check out your Odyssey v Sienna video since that's what we're considering. Do you have any info on the '19 or '20 if there are any significant changes or if either has "had a bad year" - Cheers!
Go test drive one, they are pretty sweet! The AC system itself is unitized with a single compressor. However, it's a 3 zone climate control system with driver, front passenger, and rear independent controls. The third row folds completely flat. You can remove the second row entirely, but due to the magic slide feature, there is a sizeable hump across the width of the vehicle at the second row.
Smart entry is just talking about the sensors on the door handle. The LX has the same key, you just have to press the button on them to unlock the doors.
Car Confections thanks! Only reason I traded the 2016 back was I drove 71,000km since new. The 2019 interior is much quieter and I love the interior instrument display
Don’t waste your money. The new 2018 Honda has Serious electronic problems. My coworker 2018 exl only lasted 8 months and 40,000-miles the electronic transmission system was broken. The honda head office has changed a new transmission system for free and broken again. When the car is driving on the highway, it will suddenly decelerate automatically. The indicator lights are all on! Several times almost made the rear vehicle chase!
Yessir, there are LATCH connections and anchors on the outboard seats for both the second and third rows. I checked when I test drove because that was a VERY important feature/shopping point for my family. Also, the magic slide seats can go outboard enough that you can fit three car seats across without spending a grand on Dionos.
Thanks! We actually do have a comparison between the Odyssey and Sienna already. You can find it in our channel under 'Faceoff Comparisons'! Thanks fro watching!
We have a 2012 Odyssey EX-L. I do like its features, however it has no power. It feels like I have to floor it to get up to speed on the interstate, and the transmission is aweful. Our 2006 sienna had lots more power and a better transmission. We probably wont look at another oddyssey if we get rid of our 2012.
Yes it does. Timing belt is a moot point due to the fact that you SHOULD be changing your water pump at 100k miles anyway, regardless of timing belt or chain.
Tevita Lui - nothing of note, just your typical first run bugs. Like software on the new infotainment system, or software with the engine and transmission. It’s just a general rule of thumb not to buy the first year of a new generation of a car...
Watching it sitting in 2019 odessey lx as I had no idea about features. Thanks:) Just went in and bought cheapest option as we needed one asap after old one broke down.
I would love to own one, but I would drive a SUV like the Nissan Rogue, Murano, and the Honda CR-V. I feel more comfortable in driving an SUV other than a minivan. I could possibly test drive the 2019 Honda Odyssey.
Out of curiosity, how often would you fold the second row fully flat? Unless the van is being used as a utility van, I don't see that option needing to be used...unless I am missing something? These are family haulers, so wouldn't you need the second row all the time?
Often have to move various things that are big enough to have to have it fold flat all the way. I don't like trucks and I want a comfortable vehicle. Kids grown but will need it for grand kids soon..
I have a 2006 Odyssey where the second row seat backs can fold onto the seat cushion giving a relatively "flat" look when loading 8' 2x4's from Home Depot or Lowe's or anything long. I found that the 2018 Odyssey could not do that. The seat backs only tilt forward as if you were trying to access the 3rd row. I think Richard2003 may be referring to the relative "flatness" of the seat back versus the ability of the Pacifica to store the second row seat into the floor.
Can you do a review on the Ford Fiesta? Also what is your thoughts and reaction when ford say that they are going stop making car and hatchback including the rs and st expect the Mustang and the new focus crossover and focusing on suv and truck? It fun while it last.
We almost never get Fiesta's in Kentucky, so unfortunately probably not. We are very sad about Ford cancelling their cars since they had a lot of appealing products! It seems like a short-sighted idea!
I disagree. This van specifically aims for it's target segment and goes for it full bore. Think about the Grand Caravan R/T. YES, those of us who love sportiness and need a van would love it... but think about how few of us who like those things in a vehicle would choose to find it in this segment. However, test drive one of these things and you'll be shocked when the VTEC kicks in... it scared me when it did, lol. PLENTY of power.
The Pilot is your answer to that request unfortunately. If you want an AWD minivan, you're going to have to Sienna. It isn't a bad choice and if the Ody wasn't available I'd have no qualms, but the Ody to me is better packaged and has a more confident handling dynamic.
We apologize about that. We do our best to keep motion down, however, with first person filming in these small spots it can be difficult. Thanks for watching

Minivans are definitely useful for large family haulers. Buying it will save you money
As a Honda lover: I'd buy this one day bro.
I don't understand the minivan stigma. it's cheaper, more practical, funner to drive, better mpg than the pilot or any other full size SUV! amazing review!
high trims go to up $50k
I would not take advice from a guy who says funner
Everest Lang 😂😂😂 true that.
The Pilot Elite is a few hundred MORE than the Odyssey Elite.
They say minivans are like crack. Everyone says they never want it. But, once they have it, they never want to be without it.

I'm not even surprised of how detailed and thorough this is. And the music. Fantastic.
Thanks my friend! What part of the video has the music you like?
Car Confections its usually the intro music for the cars.

I really needed to see where the carseat hookups are and if they are easily accessible.
So can you remove the middle chair from the 2nd row to make captains chairs? Which model has this feature?
Yes ma'am you can. The LX is the only trim in which you cannot remove the second row center seat. On all other trims, there is a front strap you pull, fold the seat forward, and lift out. The seat weighs 30lbs and is a pretty neat system.

why no direction indication on rear view mirror?

Great. Now my wife wants the elite because of the foot thingy for the rear door and the vacuum! 😂
Do you know how to turn on the lights on the back/passenger, just got one, and they click, but don't turn on.
First time new car shopping since 2011 and what's the deal with not having regular shifters? The Pacifica and Odyssey too? I hope this isn't a trend.
Can you please do a full review for the 2020 Honda Odyssey?
That's great.
So thorough and detailed 😍 and all the lights and hazards on thank you so much keep it up 😍

Nice review!
Thanks!
great video. Really good.
What does smart entry mean? The lx model comes standard with a proximity key and push button start?
Smart entry is just talking about the sensors on the door handle. The LX has the same key, you just have to press the button on them to unlock the doors.
Thanks for explaining what the smart entry does.
Thank you so much for the excellent review! Never clicked on a video so quick! 😁👍 keep up the good work!
Haha thanks! ☺️
It feels like you just reviewed the ‘18 odyssey but I checked and that video was released almost a year ago. Great review anyway!
Yeah it came out early last year as well! Thanks!
You guys do an excellent job with your reviews! Please do one for a Ridgeline.
Thanks! We are waiting on a Ridgeline to arrive!
Do you know if the Elite comes with Heated and cooled seats?
Yes it does
Picking up the 2019 EX on Thur. Was driving the 2016. Can’t wait
Congrats!
Car Confections thanks! Only reason I traded the 2016 back was I drove 71,000km since new. The 2019 interior is much quieter and I love the interior instrument display
Amazing review! Ty!
We appreciate it!
Does elite or touring have auto folding mirrors when you lock the car?
Elite is the only trim with power folding mirrors.
Notice any car seat latches on the third row ??
Yessir, there are LATCH connections and anchors on the outboard seats for both the second and third rows. I checked when I test drove because that was a VERY important feature/shopping point for my family. Also, the magic slide seats can go outboard enough that you can fit three car seats across without spending a grand on Dionos.
Do the second row seats recline back flat? And can they fold forward flat?
I like your review style simple and informative, I would love to see a comparison between odyssey vs sienna vs Kia van
Thanks! We actually do have a comparison between the Odyssey and Sienna already. You can find it in our channel under 'Faceoff Comparisons'! Thanks fro watching!
Do you have the MSRP on the different trim levels?
Check the pricing section towards the end of the video 🙂
With all the electric stuff in it, how many fricken batteries does it have ?
Anonymous Interuptus 1 which is a 12v battery
Nice review..I think iam sold for this one.. just had a baby and been looking for a bigger car.now I have a Mazda 2 ...keep up the great work.
Thanks! Congrats on your new baby!
I thought the middle seats folded into the floorboard-the only reason I’d buy an Odyssey over a Sienna.
What? This thing in Elite does 0-60 in 6.6 seconds. When VTEC kicks in while passing... it's a freaking experience!!!
how much is the listing price for 2019
See the video description for the prices of each trim. Thanks for watching!
Is the sunglasses holder standard on every trim level?
Yes the sunglass holder and conversation mirror is standard across the board
Nice review again this are amazing video of this amazing and cool car,!
Does this model still have the timing belt?? In 2019 Honda still uses belts??
Yes it does. Timing belt is a moot point due to the fact that you SHOULD be changing your water pump at 100k miles anyway, regardless of timing belt or chain.
Are there any significant changes from the 2018 model?
No. Only an extra USB port on EX-L and up.
That’s too bad. Thank you!
Also that the all the bug fixes have been worked out from the first year (2018) of this generation.
Thank you! What kinds of bugs were there in 2018?
Tevita Lui - nothing of note, just your typical first run bugs. Like software on the new infotainment system, or software with the engine and transmission. It’s just a general rule of thumb not to buy the first year of a new generation of a car...
Have you guys done the 2019/2018 ridgeline yet?
No not yet but we probably will soon!
amazing thanks for posting
So glad you enjoyed!
Why not AWD.
Best review, hands down!
Thanks, Andrea!
any plans to launch in india?
Watching it sitting in 2019 odessey lx as I had no idea about features. Thanks:) Just went in and bought cheapest option as we needed one asap after old one broke down.
Congrats on your new car! It's a crazy awesome minivan!
@@CarConfections thanks!
They're releasing new models way too soon now.
I would love to own one, but I would drive a SUV like the Nissan Rogue, Murano, and the Honda CR-V. I feel more comfortable in driving an SUV other than a minivan. I could possibly test drive the 2019 Honda Odyssey.
Rogue, Murano, and CR-V are all 2 row vehicles aimed at an entirely different market segment. It's like comparing apples to potatoes.
Do the second row seats fold flat????
They can fold but not fully flat (flush) with the floor. Hope this helps!
It does help. i like your videos.
12:02 the belt
How many seats?
I like this car verymuch
24:56 😂😂😂
Yep still has the uncomfortable Dead foot pedal , Give comfort to everyone else but the driver. Nice going Honda.
Awesome Review Of 2019 Honda Odyssey 😄
Thanks for watching!
This company is confused, what is the difference between the 2017 model to this one
Can you review the Chrysler Pacifica
We will be reviewing one once the the 2019 model comes out later this summer!
Ok
Yo were does the garbage go when you vacume?
It collects in a container in the back, near the hose part
Can you do a review on the Ford Fiesta? Also what is your thoughts and reaction when ford say that they are going stop making car and hatchback including the rs and st expect the Mustang and the new focus crossover and focusing on suv and truck? It fun while it last.
We almost never get Fiesta's in Kentucky, so unfortunately probably not. We are very sad about Ford cancelling their cars since they had a lot of appealing products! It seems like a short-sighted idea!
Car Confections thanks for all the review so far keep it up bro 👌🏾❤️
Can you film the 2018 INFINITI Q70L?
Our dealer has a 2019 Q70L in transit, so we should be able to once it comes in!
When you order red, don’t expect it to be red but more dark maroon
Honda needs to make a type s sportier souped up minivan they would sell like crazy
Don't put a bag of groceries in front middle...dangerous! 12:43
I love cars, but I didn't know that much about the elite
Got the Touring and I love it!😍
Congrats!
I'd buy one tomorrow if it came in AWD. Wake up Honda!!!
The Pilot is your answer to that request unfortunately. If you want an AWD minivan, you're going to have to Sienna. It isn't a bad choice and if the Ody wasn't available I'd have no qualms, but the Ody to me is better packaged and has a more confident handling dynamic.
Nearly $50k! No I won’t be getting one soon. Considering a class b motor home, thought odyssey would be much cheaper, not.
Nice review and awsome mini van keep it up....👍👍👍
Mini ban is something i can consiider since i am a taxi driver
Excellent review!!! It’s a great vehicle!!! Can’t wait till Honda makes a hybrid or plug-in hybrid model!!! ☮️🖖🏽
Thanks!
Southwest Asians really love themselves some Honda minivans. That, and open toe leather sandals.
It’s bad really bad in snow
still better than front-engine,rear-wheel-drive-car
God Almighty please touch someone's heart to buy this for my family. AMEN
A very helpful video..BUT SWEET JESUS anyone who gets motion sickness needs to be careful when watching it.
We apologize about that. We do our best to keep motion down, however, with first person filming in these small spots it can be difficult. Thanks for watching
This is the 2018 modle it's not the 2019
No it's not
