My wife: upset thinking I’m having a stroke
😂😂😂
You don't have enough fingers......
😺
When you showed your face during Riff #4 and said "if your face doesn't look like this you should see a doctor" I was making the EXACT face without even realizing it.
That only means you're an excellent human being and your emotional responses to Meshuggah are all correct!
I showed this song to my mother and she was doing the same thing!
Literally, same face. Meshuggah bringing the stank faces through time
Saw this comment before watching, was prepared not to make the face when riff 4 started, but that rhythm change riiiight before yogev points out the face brought me to my knees
That's called the lip out nod face which is reserved exclusively for monster mid paced metal riffs
At least we know that the Clock Works
I want to endorse this joke
@@Skavengerx I second it

Jesus Christ do these people eat differential equations for breakfast?
Yes they do.
most certainly! They then proceed to consume theoretical non-euclidean geometry for lunch and dinner.
Yes but they tend to stay away from stochastic processes...
@@filipberntsson6634 hahaha nice!!
🤣
"I" next time, so we have a forty minute monstrosity for Part 1. We need it.
Monstrocity*
@@TheDeathDivisor It's not written like that, or else the autocorrect function wouldn't have flagged that word for me. Monstrocity is flagged as a spelling error.
Please don't try to correct something when you're not one hundred percent certain of what you're correcting.
@@franciscocigarro8839 Why should he be guessing the reasons? All in all, it was misspelled, wasn't it? He's just pointed that out. No offense intended as far as I can see. (Btw, you can still edit your comment to correct it.)
@@Epyxoid It wasn't misspelled. And there was no offense taken, it's just that corrections without any sort of reason kind of get to me. I reacted poorly to it, so I should apologize.
@@franciscocigarro8839 No problem, sir. But as far as I know 'MonstroCity' is the correct spelling of that song, unlike the English word "monstrosity".
10:10 exactly my face every time I listen to this song
Yes!
Now one even understands how perfectly the vocals sit in the song and emphasizes the whole structure
I've watched a lot of "deciphering odd time signature" videos, and none of them have been as informative, entertaining and straight-up educating as your ones! Thank you, Yogev!!
Glad you like them!
This just cements the fact that Tomas Haake is an absolute Mastermind for drums!
i love how humble he is. i think his genius comes from his "limitations" as he is _technically_ not that complex, but instead works around odd time sigs and bar pushing by simplfying it down to a count similar to the way this is described. in an interview he once said that he is counting very simply and i guess all the extra notes are played almost subconsciously. what amazes me is the way he maintains such power and heavy strokes, there are no ghost notes, only full strokes. its all about the patterns
@@deefman123triggers
@@deefman123there are no ghost notes ? What??😮
I have no idea why I've never heard of you man. This is one of the most brilliant and passionate song analysis formats I've ever seen.
Well, welcome aboard!

My girlfriend: "Shhhhh I NEED TO TAKE THESE QUIETLY"
@@YogevGabay She had to give that track another listen from how confusing yet amazing it is.
This video let me go from taking hours to learn just one of the riffs to getting the whole song playable (guitar) within about 2 hours. The visual breakdowns are superb
Oh yeeesssssssss
"If your face doesn't look like this right now, you should see a doctor" Lol dude that was brilliant.
heaven
i saw my reflection when he said it and laughed so hard
Today I learned: converting a 6-string guitar to an 8-string guitar means you draw a couple of extra lines and ovals.
I can't believe it took me 10 years to finally like Meshuggah. Their grooves are so good and so brutal.
Just like me ! But after 10 years of music study, I finally get a brain equipped with enough RAM to fully appreciate M E S H U G G A H !!! 😍
Took me about 2-2.5yrs, that was about 3 yrs back, but I still haven't listened to their entire discography, I still don't consider myself to be well equipped to understand all
Clockworks was one of those songs I couldn't really enjoy until I watched this video explaining the madness and once I could wrap my head around the riff I could enjoy it.
I've been listening to them for 6 years
I heard bleed and clockworks for 5 fucking years until i gave up AND listened to every album❤❤❤❤ i cant get enough now
Now everything needs moreshuggah
Now i am fucking insane if i dont listen to them😂
Really they are an acquired taste!
After getting into Meshuggah, everything else sounds like Dora the fucking Explorer

You know at some point you'll have to talk about the 24-minute song because there is none left :D
You mean the none EP?
@@bsatyam I think it was I, even though it is "only" 21 minutes long.

Thanks!!
Dancers to a discordant system for one of the months pls!! That rotary riff is driving me crazy
You mean the verse riff?
This might sound weird but there's a piano cover on yt and seeing it played on piano from above the keys really helped me to learn it
@@bsatyam The riff from 4mn09s to 4mn40s, with the half time snare, is awesome.. I always loose the pulse !
@@bmdrums9502 It feels amazing once you do get it!
@@That_Idiot_Bass_Player that piano cover is absolutely INSANE
As a math teacher and fast double-pedal playing fan, you are now officially my new master.
Monthly Meshuggah!? Wooo. I hope you eventually get to the intro to Swarm.
Or Do Not Look Down. I told my dad that both songs intros were a 21st century version of Led Zeppelin's Misty Mountain Hop and he got it
Riff 4 is one of the best things I have ever heard in all of my 37 and a bit years on the earth. It is absolutely amazing.
10:03 Heaviest shit on the planet is about to start.
Dude you're awesome. It is unbelievable all the work you have, didactic and still with humor. I would like to find more videos like yours.
Cheers from Brazil
More to come!
Riff# 4 ist the heaviest shit ever recorded. It is THAT breakdown!
you are the type of channel one doesn't skip ads on so you get more cash money.
Amazing vid!
I appreciate that! Though these videos aren't monetized, as I don't own the rights for these songs!
@@YogevGabay now this sucks. Guess ill enable adblock since you dont get any money? Dont know how this cash system works
@@steakiefrags1866 Yup man, fire up that AdBlock! Sadly, I can't earn any revenue while using songs I don't own the copyrights to.
"..warms up to the meanest head-bang in history." Yes!!! - Thank you for this video!
And monthly Meshuggah video? Sold!
Gotta be 'Demiurge' next on Meshuggah monthly 🤘
nah bro let it be “I”
@@m3lanchol1a60 i would pay money for that
Demiurge is a monster song but doesn't have much to breakdown musically
Best Heavy Metal songs of all time.
Clockworks
Bleed
i love the last "okay, okay, now i'm listening" .... the riff that humbles us all :D
That chorus riff is so simple compared to other ones, but it’s just so damn filthy. Permanent stank face.
Great video Yogev! Time to vote in the poll
watching this makes it sooo much easier to learn on guitar, because its not the memorizing different notes, its understanding the rhythms that makes it difficult, something tabs cant show you.
Ok my mind is blown after jus the first riff breakdown 😮💨🤯
Too much information!! 👊🏽💥💯
on point as always, great stuff !
still here in 2022? its not enough to watch this once^^thx yogev
This is the perfect channel for those friends who not only don't understand why Meshuggah is so amazing but that it also is as simple as they think it is.

I wished I knew this song and watched this video to be able to pass my Algebra classes back in my school days, my mind would have opened more and sharpened like sharpening a pencil then.......... High schools must have a small class emphasizing on Meshuggah songs as a mind booster and boggler....

Love me some Meshuggah but your analyses have shifted my love up a level! Cheers \M/
dude this channel is as insane as Clockworks !! awesome work man !!
Thank you so much ive been figuring out some of my favorite songs but you just make it seems so easy and it makes sense with the illustrations. Pretty cool my bday month will be meshuggah month since they’re one of my fave bands. Just subscribed looking forward to it
Awesome explanation! Excellent work
When you break down the song and see what's going on inside it makes a band I already thought was amazing even more amazingerest! Great work! Subscribed!

Pedazo de video que te has marcado colega, good video, pal, well done! Cant wait for their next album:D
I love your videos man, adore you're editing style and laughed my head off at "if your face doesn't look like this" - i am a huge meshuggah fan, and i think this might be my favourite song - certainly one of my top 3 especially to play on the drums and let off some steam
AAAAAHHHHHH!!!!
This is incredible!!!!
Yogev , this time you've really outdone yourself.
absolutely awesome!!!
Obzen has some cool things going on!
HAHA!!! Even though I KNEW my face would look in of some sort of way, shown at around 10:15 I still looked EXACTLY like that!! Priceless!
These videos are insanely helpful for learning Meshuggah songs. Saving me a lot of mental math! Thank you!
Great video, as usual! I’d love to see the next Meshuggah video about Lethargica, especially the outro. It’s extremely catchy, but the way in which the riff rotates around a steady 4/4 beat is absolutely amazing 🥲
This is the best UA-cam Channel ive come across! Great job my friend.
That was amazing, thank you
Dude this has so much work put into, it's amazing! Love the Host / Guest analogy. Been waiting for so long to see something so well dissected like this and I hope people realize that this is genius level analysis!
I’m going to vote for dancers to a discordant system, even though it’s not an option :3
I really love this video. It really encapsulates the counting.
Great content.
Highly entertaining form.
A cool dude behind it.
This is a tripple A stuff you have here, Yogev. And also a new sub.
Keep it up, I can't wait for Mayshuggah!
THANKS for doing this.
You've got my sub! Rhythm seems to be a neglected topic by many music UA-camrs, so it was great to see this breakdown of an incredible song.
Amazing content! Keep it up
You sir, deserve a medal!
The massive bomb at 10:02 is pure badassery!
What a killer riff!
Awesome video! ❤
Edit: MAYshuggah? 😂
MAY the shuggah be with us all!
hahahahah yeesss
Dude, such a nice and thorough breakdown. I usually just brute force my way trough these songs and try to figure out the cycles via repeated air-guitar sessions and it works - but your visualizations help a lot! In fact, I also group certain parts of Meshuggah songs together and count those. It's really funny to confuse other people and musicians with your own numbered understandings 😁
It's the first time i see your video. You've put so much effort into it, wow. Great editing.
Dude this kind of class was fucking awesome, keep the good work mate!
I love your Meshuggah explanations.
Favourite new channel dude
nice seiko!
