This was my first time making this broth. I won't lie I had a hard time getting past the look, but I pushed through. I cooked mine in slow cooker over night with all the ingredients. In the morning I strained out everything and set it in frig. It jellied like jello. I am now trying the broth. I have never tasted anything as good. It is my go to every day. Thank you for sharing Tess.
Awesome! I just made some chicken feet broth too (wanted to research some other recipes) and I’ll see what it’s like in the morning after sitting in the fridge!
@@Sdjdjsjs I did like tess did, I added some celery, carrots and onion. Cooked it in the slow cooker over night. The bones were all broke down. Strain it out and add some salt and pepper. It is so good for you.
My wife and I laugh so hard when you said you can’t stand looking at the chicken toes, I love the honesty! She had just said she doesn’t like the way the look and I said don’t look at them too long. ❤
I love that you're using an ingredient most Westerners would shy from. I believe I've seen chicken feet recently at Walmart, but I'll have to look again to make sure as I was surprised to see them there.
Wow Hello Tess this is an amazing video very educational thank you for sharing such an awesome video I’ve never even seen my grandmother do this one!! Thank you for sharing I am definitely going to try this My son loves chicken feet I just never make them but his fathers family makes them all the time Thank You again Have a great weekend and a Awesome Hoilday 🙏👍🏽🥰🍋
I love using chicken feet in my broth. The only thing i do differently is take a potato masher to the feet about half way through the cook time. Brith gets a little cloudy but its really good.
Stock made from chicken feet is so good and super cheap to make. Never seen them at any walmart in my area either but are always available at joe v's or food town. My mama grew up on them fried but I've only ever used them for stock.
Thanks for the video! I just made some chicken feet broth too (wanted to research some other recipes) and I’ll see what it’s like in the morning after sitting in the fridge!
But do the claw oe nail bits cook down? I always clipped em because I thought there was dirt & things too hard to clean from under them that would contaminate the broth.
@@Honey-Bee-25 When the legs are skinned, the nails come off as well. What's left that looks like nails, is the inside, that part never had any contact with the outside environment and should be totally clean of any debri. You can certainly snip them off if that makes you more comfortable. I don't though.
@@oldbird4210 thank you!! I just always clipped them cuz everyone said to when I watched videos. I thought they were dirty or hard to clean or something, or I thought removing the nail allowed more nutrients to leak out from the tip or something lol. I never thought it was an aesthetic thing. If there are more nutrients I prefer to keep them!! The information you gave made me feel better about them not being dirty! I just make a broth with them to drink, I don't actually eat the meat or anything. So it makes sense to keep the nail.
@@oldbird4210 Thank you so much! They are! One more question if you dont mind! When you cook them, do you skim the "scum" or foam off? I usually boil it, but only boil about 6 hours and heard that wasnt long enough. So I am cooking it in a slow cooker this time. It's been about an hour, and it's not foaming, and aim going to go to sleep in about 2 hours or so, but it doesnt even look like its about to boil 😑. I'm wondering if it's necessary to skim the foam off and I can just keep letting it cook through the night? Or you should always skim off the foam scum? I might have to put it in a pot first and then finish it off in the slow cooker because it's not foaming at all lol
My aunt told me to get rid of my cold with a broth of chicken feet. So, after watching your video which looks very good, am I just to eat this broth like having a bowl of soup?
You can also take out a cup of it cold, put it in a cup and microwave it for about 1 1/2 to 2 minutes, add a squeeze of lemon juice and drink it like hot tea. It's delicious! And the collagen in it keeps your skin plump and wrinkle free. This is a secret many Chinese women use and you hardly ever see them with wrinkles!
Tess I have been watching Asian people cooking and eating the chicken feet. They act like they are really yummy. Someday I'm going to get over my phobia and try one. This broth does look amazing I must say!
Thank you for the recipe. However I didn't have a big enough pot to add an additional gallon of water. So this will be super concentrated bone broth. I've been looking at chicken feet in the store for a while now not knowing how it should be prepared until today. I went to purchase bone broth and discovered how expensive it is. So I decided to have a go of it when I saw one of the ingredients was chicken feet😊
I bought six packages because I wanted to make a lot of collagen. I noticed you use 2 gallons of water for two packages. Last time I tried to make broth I used too much water and it never gelled, with a whole chicken. If I’m going to cook mine on the stove, do I still need that same amount of water? And I just bought my chicken feet from Walmart. In Las Vegas the only one I’ve seen them in and they have a lot of them.
So skin on? I have deep freezer full of chicken feet we butchered ourself, well not me. I made broth once, took forever to get rid of skin so I gave up on idea. Now I am out of beef knuckes and have to go back to chicken feet and wondering why can I leave the skin on? Isnt it full of colagen.?
My mom used to use chicken feet in her stock. She grew up on a farm in Bavaria and she said it was how she was taught. As kids, we gave her a hard time - “eww, gross, blech!!!”
Take the broth and put it into ice cube trays. Once they are formed into ice cubes put your cubes into Ziploc bags and then freeze. When you want to have some you can heat it up in a pot.
You can do anything with it that you would do with, like, canned broth or bouillon cubes. Make soup out of it. Cook vegetables in a little bit of it for flavor. Sip a mug of it when you don’t feel well. It’s just soup!
I don’t even eat intestines , feet , leg pieces or bones part only chicken breast & I even take less broth Cuz I feel it dirty to eat 😅. Now I have to eat for collagen boost I guess 😂😂

You consumed whole jello or just 1 tablespoon of it in a cup of water??
You can consume as much as you like. I store in 6-8 oz size containers. Refrigerate some and freeze the rest till I want it

The "nails" aren't actually there, they get peeled off with the skin. What's left is full of collagen. I know they look gross but I leave them on.

Hi Tess, how do you can your broth? (From hot or cold, and how long?) Amazingly clear video.
I heat the broth for canning. Thanks for watching.
Could you go directly to canning or does it go in. Fridge first. Thanks!
How long does it keep?
Can I freeze it?

After boiling the chicken feet until it become soft can I blend it in a mixture to suck out all the collagen frm it 😂.
