At 44 years old I finally feel ready to settle down long enough to buy a house. I’m looking to start a govcon business supplying products. Specifically set aside and simplified acquisition contracts. With the contract to supply pallets to the army, after finding a supplier. What process would you go through.
1. Become an authorized supplier/vendor/distributor. 2. Or buy directly from the supplier as a regular customer sort of like dropshipping. 3. Or partner and subcontract with the supplier to fulfill the contract. Sorry if my wording isn’t clear enough I’m trying to type this up on my phone.

How are you going to come up with the funding when you are broke and bad credit and just starting the business. This sounds like a setup for failure. Find the funding? Not so easy...

I have the same question.
The government typically pays after the product or service has been delivered. Therefore, funding aka cash is needed to pay for the thing being sold to the federal government.
you'll have to pay your subcontractors for the work prior to the government paying for the work. . . so lot's of times that requires a loan where you pay back the company with interest . . the company who gives the loan must be able to confirm the security of the contract and all the details of how you will fulfill the contract/job.

Don't you need clearance for gov contracts. And wouldn't all the people underneath you need clearance too. Regardless of them being subcontracted (maybe exceptions for those that just pick up and drop off)
Most contracts don’t need clearance.
