How so ? "We couldn't sell these GT3 cars so let's dump even more money into them to make cars that are harder to sell because you can't compete with them nor can you drive them on the road"?
@@wailfaridi2070 Let's convert them to more exclusive and probably expensive track toys.. The chassis were probably there to be used. I never understand why people say this or the sesto elemento or these “track day cars” can never be raced. Yes they can. There is such a thing as unlimited series. Hill climbs. Time attack. Britcar will take this any day.
This is exactly what McLaren should be concentrating on instead of more refinement and electric/green stuff. Concentrate on making your engines much more angry, less sound insulation, and most of all, lighter. That's what us enthusiasts are after, your cars are just too refined now. I've owned a 540C and driven almost all the variants of thes sports series cars, and the LT cars get close, but they need to dial it up more. Don't worry about speed, all these cars are insanely fast already.

I always see these kind of cars as pointless, you are never going to see one race, you will never see one on the road, and they're only made for very rich 1% to drive around a private track which is kind of sad really. Next.
Why not simply appreciate the design and tech improvements instead of exclusively basing the worth of the car on its accessibility to the public? Considering the majority of us that enjoy McLaren products will never have the means to acquire or physically experience any of their models and yet still actively indulge in the details of their latest models I don't see what sets this that far apart from limited edition road-legal models. Besides, is it not interesting to see the extent of a GT3 racecar without power/aero regulations?
GT3 cars are limited to 500-520-ish hp, there is also a minimum weight, aero etc etc (GT3 specs) though power can be a tad higher if the weight is also a bit higher (which is also one of the reasons, BMW pushed the M3/M4 to break the 500hp mark, to enter GT3 as an example). There are a whoel bunch of rules for GT3 as well regarding oiling system, suspension etc etc.
It's impressive, but never had a hankering for a McClaren due to the turbos. I'd take a GT3-RS or Huracan over this, or honestly even (if it lives up to the promise) the upcoming C8 Z06, or Lotus Emira with the V6 for that matter. And, though they are attractive, they don't really speak to me, other than maybe the 600LT.
@@robbell7420 Are you sure it's just the silencer? I'm talking about sound character - as if there's a whole different exhaust manifold setup. Wouldn't be too surprised if the GT3X was the louder car.
Same manifolds, slightly different engine but nothing that would change the engine note. If you take the silencers off they sound the same. The X up the hill at Goodwood was straight through and sounded great!
Now that Mitsubishi has given up on the Evolution GSR Lancer name, every other car manufacturer are naming their cars EVO. EVO is Mitsubishi GSR Lancer. For life.
Am I right in thinking this has less power than a road going 720s? Or is it just a declared bhp figure, which on a Dyno will be more like 780bhp as per the road cars.
720 is 720ps (supposedly). This has that until ptp is engaged. They'd really need to be Dyno'd to know for sure. This sounds quicker, but it's most likely just closer gearing....
I'm sorry but a fast street car shouldn't cost 720K when anyone can make one for 100K. Think about it. If every car cost a G per HP my car would be $275k when it actually costed me literally 100 times less. I'm not saying it should be cheaper than a normal car but close to a mill? Wtf for??

So if anyone has any idea why when I search up the exact the model is McLaren 720s evo, instead comes up with 720s gt3s, if anyone want to DM me then they can and I can send over the pictures
If it's the same engine as the 720S and the GT3, why do those engines sound like a crossplane V8, and the engine from the GT3X like a flatplane crankshaft engine?
Remember all the wannabe motor journalists who say that carbon brakes are for supercars that wanna go to the track. Complete nonsense. carbon brakes are for those who want clean wheels with less brake dust and don't show rust layers as your car is being parked in your lovely garage. People who race porsche cup cars and this mclaren gt3x are going to go thru many brake discs, and steel is a much much cheaper option to replace.
Since such cars get bought by speculators wanting to profit on reselling them unused later on, or collectors wanting to place them in a museum, I suppose it makes sense for McLaren to make them neither for the road or the track.
That POV shot of the steering wheel was the best shot I've seen in many years. Would love more of that!

Nice one Steve. Please lets see the 720s GT3X v Senna v P1. What an ultimate Macca test. Please please please try to get it arranged.
The 720S GT3X is actually faster around most tracks than a Senna GTR. So you can expect this thing to handily beat a regular Senna and P1 on track.
Race cars make road cars look like a joke even with a massive power deficit.

Why does the non-X GT3 sound soooo much better? Same distinctive noise as the 650S GT3.
This depends on what silencer is having to be used depending on the noise limit requirements at the circuit, on that given day.
