Exactly. put this on cup2 and put the sf90 on these and the times would be flipped. without the same tires its really more of a tire comparison than a car comparison.
McLaren are adamant about making their cars suitable for anyone to drive. By using less wide of tires, it ironically makes the car safer because it lowers the threshold of grip and therefore makes the performance more predictable. Other companies like Corvette and Porsche rely on wide tires because they are heavily marketed by their laptimes. Ferrari and McLaren are more artistic with their approach and focus on building "drivers cars" as opposed to track machines, although they just so happen to produce very impressive laptimes.
These excuses are so funny, does any of you remember that the pista did it’s lap on a partially wet track? The track itself isn’t the problem either, the 765lt got beaten in Hockenheim with its massive streight by not only the pista but also the gt3😂😂
Not the ideal track for the 765 and it’s one where tyre grip is going to make a big difference on these slow speed bends! Cup2R’s are in a league of their own right now and offer ridiculous mechanical grip, Mac need to jump brands! Also to McLarens credit they do under tyre cars to enhance its drivability but for track specials they should up their sizes. A GT3 RS with half the torque has bigger rears lol
Great comment, I agree completely. Putting hugely-wide cup2Rs would surely drop lap times a fair bit but this isn’t a race car and pure lap times are not the only attribute of a car to optimize.
No ideal track ? If we follow your reasoning, there should be one track per car... I don't think it's an ideal track for a P1 which would also be more comfortable on faster curves. The facts are there, the 765LT is a monster, it doesn't need to show more to make it understood. But it just so happens that it's not the fastest road-legal car in the world, that's all.
pista & 765LT have the same tyre sizes, not really an excuse. At the end of the pista lap, Steve mentions it likely could be even quicker (he says half a second) in bone dry, warm conditions. The difference between the trefeo R and cup2R are not as much as the gap in laptime. Its simply just not faster here, both cars would prefer a more power track. Probably more logical to argue the open diff in the mclaren vs the LSD in the ferrari is a bigger factor. Although the mclaren did launch 2 years after the pista which says alot..
I’ve never understood why using the curbing at all is ok? It’s like if you’re going to cut the track by not staying on the pavement then why not just use the grass too. Some more softly sprung cars have an advantage too as the are less affected by riding the curbs than the more track focused cars are, not to mention it’s annoying hearing it vibrate the camera gear every single time it runs over the ribbing 🤦🏻♂️

All seasons are much slower
@@freddiejones4598 I think he is kidding but I don’t get the joke lol.
P1 time was 1:11 and the SF90 is 1:09. .02 seconds and 10yrs of difference. Show how fast the P1 was and still is. I will have one some someday.
And the LaFerrari beat the P1 in USA by nearly a second, when they tested the Porsche as well. To think, LaFerrari is a N/A Engine, even more incredible then the P1!
Forgive me for saying, you can see he is braking too early, is slow around the bends, yet gives it the full beans coming out of a corner. This guy is a journalist, not a race driver.
Where is the EVO laptimer, would be a great addition for your fans. Jus saying…
What a wonderful car
Consider the price to performance, 720S is still my choice
Why is it always a rolling start?
Two requests for the leaderboard. A Porsche 992 911 Turbo S and the new 911 GT3 RS. Please and thank you.
No contest. The base GT3 will beat the Turbo S at the track.
@@ronretired282 Agreed, I just want to see them both on the board.
Instead of arguing which is better we should be celebrating that cars like these are still allowed to be made.
I see so many spots where the McLaren could’ve been faster
Cup 2Rs vs Trofeo Rs
765 would at least beat Pista on Cup2Rs
nope.
@@gcscr yep
awesome machine..
Time and time again, if you’re going to at a track, get a track machine. Look at the time board. Did everyone miss the Radical?? How much does that Radical cost compared to these monsters?? 😲. Guarantee you you’ll have way more fun in the Radical.
These are street machines. 9 times out of 10 they’ll be rolling down some traffic congested boulevard screaming “LOOK AT ME!!” 🤷🏻♂️
That being said, not surprised it can’t outdo the Prancing Horse. Of course everyone will cry foul about not being “same day” testing. As if these people are in line to purchase such a thing?! 😂
At this level, it’s all about preferences. Kudos to those who are able to afford such things. 👍🏻
