Should be possible. I could be wrong but aren’t there waterfalls with this update? I read the patch notes and it said there’s waterfalls on the drifting floating islands but I haven’t seen it
@@jahhger It'd be cool if it's already in with this part 1, I didn't see a waterfall in the trailer, but there was a body of water that looked like it could be a river.
@@jahhger Oh yeah there's water falling off those floating islands, but I want proper ground based waterfalls, normal sized and massive Niagara sized ones if not bigger.
@@jahhger yeah but it’s very fake. It’s more a visual effect rather than a proper simulated waterfall. My guess is it’s likely not possible due to the engine not having been built with the tools needed for that to work. At best the waterfalls and rivers you want will probably be artificial like volcanos where it’s not part of the terrain but merely an asset that was generated
After a big update like this, it's good to give it a couple weeks so they can iron out some bugs. The expeditions are the only things you should be aware of when they end so you don't miss the rewards.
I hope part 2 adds actual new gameplay mechanics, planetary dungeons (true explorable crashed freighters, pirate settlements, ancient artifacts and mines in caves etc…etc….
I would like more polished worlds before we add things like that. But yeah I think an overhaul to the structures you find would be nice to see. Would love to see some derelict style missions in big dungeons or temples
The part I missed until recently was how I realized, after restarting the game for like the third time, that they've rewritten all of the languages so none of the online translators I've been cheat using work anymore 😂 thanks a lot guys.
Absolutely loving the update it looks so awesome!!! Been checking out planets and stuff managed to find a pretty cool flower creature as a companion been flying around for like 3 hours haha now just waiting for the expedition to go live
More effects, like sand, mud, swamps, caves, waterfalls, attacking plauer freighters with your own, colony building, planetary destructions, destroyed planets that have debris, chaotic planets like half cold half hot, dyson spheres, etc. Let me become emperor of a solar system were I am paid tribute and have an army of freighters were i can wa agaisnt another army and call it War or something like that. Make it friendly but maintain the competitive aspect where the more planets you discover colonize and develop the bigger your empire grows (both players agree to war). In the end they both fight and who ever loses pays tribute by either giving up materials and units , part of their fleet or planets which they control
Now that they have wind systems and water with waves , it would be great to have a sail boat to roam around island planets sailing between shores. Also rivers with water current physics that we could navigate would be perfect. And of course waterfalls on land. And cities, particularly ancient lost urban area to discover and explore in archeological missions, buried cities inside caves, dungeons etc. Thatnis what I loved for part 2. Sailing boats would be fantastic.
Started playing again since the release back in 2016 I think. Was on sale through Steam and oh man I’m drowning in systems and all the various interactions. Loving it. I haven’t really stopped playing. Jumped into a system after fleeing sentinels right into a freighter being attacked. I now own a freighter I guess lol
If only I could find a planet that looks the one in the trailer, they're all barren hellscapes, too cold, too hot or just dead zero blades of grass so far! Maybe I need to follow the journey some more.
This is awesome. Even with a new game coming out, they still keep supporting and caring for NMS. Hello Gaming is the redemption arc we all dream of having for ourselves.
How about new and updated sound design??? It has been the same stale selection of sfx since day one. All the flora and fauna sound pretty much the same, no matter what part of the universe that you are exploring. The same goes for tech sfx and environmental sfx. This really breaks immersion.... Is this not something they could spend a bit of time updating?
i spawned on a radioactive planet, spent an hour getting my shit together and taking off to land on another radioactive moon with NO FUEL. Having a pretty good experience all things considered tho
I had a feeling they'd start adding ship types to the ship builder. I suspect we'll even see Royal Exotics eventually, but I'm hoping they never do Squids.
@@abmong maybe? The thing is, there's a big community in this game based around finding cool ships and sharing them and they've been loyal players for a long time. And, Interceptors are a recent addition, so I would think if the intention was to add them to the system, they'd be the easiest ones to do and would have been added quickly. While I think they will add them eventually, I suspect they're going to sit on it for awhile so those ship hunters can enjoy the hunt for a year or two.
@@Lordoftheapes79 I'm one of those ship hunters. But I find the process more frustrating than rewarding I guess 🤣 since the chances of getting exactly what you want is 0 to none. I think the way to do it is finding ships = finding parts to add to your custom shop parts collection, so you would still need to go hunting for new parts if you don't have all of them in your build schematics.
@@abmong well, then you're not one of those hunters. They find the fun, not in finding the perfect ship for themselves, but for others and documenting its location so anyone can find it.
Also, I've been playing on a laptop that has integrated graphics, works surprisingly well in 600p/720p. But with this water tesselation and wind stuff, will it be more graphically demanding? I'm kinda worried that when they release this update it's gonna have another optimization issues with lower end graphic devices.
Also gas planets (something im saying since the games launch). You cant land on them but you can fly deep into the atmosphere to find special animals, floating cities and such and the deeper you go, the darker and stormier it gets and you have to upgrade your ship to go really deep to find rare stuff (or maybe even a new special ship type for it)
Are the expeditions timed event, or can I beat them lets say in about half a year from now? Do you have to start new save to be able to beat one expedition? Are they long? What happens if you die, is it game over or can you retry?
They are available for a limited time only but last year they made the 4 expeditions from that year available again over Christmas / New Year holidays. So you might get another chance to play in December but again, for a limited time only.
Expeditions are the game's timed events. Brand New expeditions usually run for about 2 months. They usually take 2-3 days or shorter to complete if you're a veteran player. A week or less if you're a complete newbie, so you'll have plenty of time to complete them. They also do re-runs of past expeditions at the end of the year from Nov-Dec usually abridged versions of four past expeditions run back to back with 2 weeks to complete each, so you'll have lots of opportunities to unlock reward items from expeditions that came out before you joined the NMS club.
Dying isn't much of a problem in NMS, some of your equipment items gets damaged and you'll have to spend time repairing them, and you lose the items in your inventory but that's about the only penalties. There will be a grave marker were you died for you to return to reclaim those lost items provided you didn't die again before you retrieved your first grave.
I'm loving this update already! With floating islands, maybe we can even get Gas and Ice Giants as planets one day. And if we one day get something like a "stellar update" that adds new stars like Magnetars that could mess with your ship and pulsars that shoot gigantic sweeping beams across the system it would make exploring new systems even more adventurous.
@@MilkzyVR I did the last one over 3 days playing about 3-4hrs a day. They don't take that long. I've seen more veteran players do speed runs that took like 4hrs. It's designed to be completed in under 24hrs playing at a reasonably relaxed pace. I do find myself wishing they could be longer but I guess they have to account for less hardcore players to be able to complete. The Expeditions themselves are usually open for 1-2 months or 2-3 weeks for shorter ones, so usually plenty of time for players to run and complete even if coming to it late.
