I eventually - and independently - completed exactly the same rig as your Z-Grip with a triple cold shoe mount shown at 12:49. :) But what I didn't like, was the excessive size (particularly height) of the shoe mount, making the whole set pretty cumbersome when used handheld (especially that I use an external stereo recorder mounted with a shock mount on top of the shoe mount). But recently I discovered Ulanzi PT-3 (or PT-3S) triple cold shoe mount - it's really tiny, just 1.15" high as compared to 2.45" of this mount here and does the job perfectly for me.
Great video! I have purchased the same camera and mic as you, but I have a terrible echo. In the same room, if I use a Blue Yeti microphone hooked up to my computer, it sounds great. But the microphone (same as yours) attached to the same camera you have in my room sounds nowhere near as great as yours. I did watch your video on the settings. I also purchased an expensive Rode mic (big mistake) and same problem. Did you do anything in your room to reduce echo or anything? Yours sounds great but mine, not so much. Thanks!
Man, thank you so much for all the content you've made covering this camcorder! I got one a few weeks ago and have enjoyed it so much more because of the things I've learned through you!
Hey man thanks for all the super videos you put out I know it was like 2018 but really gave me an understanding about one of the most affordable and best camcorders I can purchase from watching your video I just made a purchase on my first Canon vixia HF r800 but my question #1 is what would be the best free video editing software I can get to use for my Canon Vixia hf r800? #2 as well as I didn't get a USB cord for my Canon vixia HF r800 which one is it to purchase and what exactly do I need that for. If you did make a video for that I didn't see it #3 and then a little bit of information of how to use my Canon vixia HF r800 video editing equipment with it either plugged into HDMI or just the SD card.
Thanks! The cord should’ve came with the camera not the best way to transfer video. Easier just to pull out the SD card and transfer the video that way. As far as editing software, I would go with da Vinci resolve. It’s free. It’s powerful. I have some videos on it. If you have any other questions, let me know.
Cool thank you buddy yeah I bought my Vixia refurbished so it didn't come with the USB cord so I was just wondering what was the proper adapter for it if you do like the numbers or the name but if you don't that's okay thank you anyways you've been a great help oh one last thing you said there was a SD chip card reader to use for the laptop which one is that how do I find that

Hey, I was wondering on how you attached the microphone to the camera. I know that you can plug it into the camcorder although I don't currently see a designated area for a camera like this to be attached to it.
Hey man, I got the fisheye you recommended, but it doesn't fit on the camera. The adapters arent small enough to work. Do you know where I can get an adapter that fits this camera? Thankd
See if there’s another ring on the lens mine came with three. I didn’t notice the one on the lens. It’s screwed off and then it fit. If not you can buy an adapter ring. There cheap.
“Long friggin screw” 😆 after modding so much equipment I gotta say that should be pro technical term. Also, I know you made this a long time ago, but I was wondering if you ever found a remote control that works with this camera. I got one of these to mount to the ceiling so I could do over the shoulder and birds eye view shots for my film projects, but I’m short and climbing up a ladder every time I need to turn it on has gotten… tedious. Any suggestions?
Hey man I really enjoyed this video and I have the vixia HF R80 and I got the fisheye lens from the description but it doesn’t fit. Is there somewhere to get like a lens adapter? Or do I just get a different lens?
Yes you just got a buy a lens adapter. Look on your canon lens for the number think mine was 34? Then the fisheye was 54 not sure you’ll have to look at yours but for that scenario you look for an adapter that goes from 34 to 54.
Hey, I was wondering what lenses would be compatible with this camera? (Ex. DLSR, Mirrorless, etc.). Also if I were to get a specific lens, would it need to be branded to fit canon specifically or would something like nikon work?
Hey Will I bought recently a Vixia 800 What app do you use to download videos to your laptop and actually can edit them easily. I can not find one Thanks for your help
That's because they all suck lol. Best way is to just take the SD card out and put in the Computer. you can just click and drag the video files over. That's what I do. It's the fastest way.
Great Video Man! I've been using the R400 for years. I was exited when it first came out. The wide angle lens looks great. I'll be upgrading finally lol
My kid just upgraded to this camcorder and just recorded his first video at 1080p 60.. it's a big improvement from him using my 7 year old 1080i Samsung camcorder.... My question is, he has snowball USB mic and I bought a USB adapter to plug in and it fits but it doesn't work because the mic needs a power source. do you know of any way we could Supply a power source and plug it in to the camcorder?
I'm sorry but no. I have one as well but you need power threw the usb, and it not good for distance. You have to be pretty close to it. I would spend the money and get a shotgun mic. Here an link to inexpensive one that works as well as a high end one. www.amazon.com/TAKSTAR-SGC-598-Interview-Microphone-Camcorder/dp/B00E58AA0I/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1517152932&sr=8-3&keywords=shotgun+mic
You are so going to get tired of me and my questions. I got the canon vixia R800 today. It came with a vivatar LED light and I bought the mic you talked about TAKSTAR SGC-598. Okay, here's my problem, I cannot figure out how to mount the light and the mic at the same time. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I did an unboxing of the camera today and will be using it in the next few days, I'll probably load the video on Sunday. I will put a link to your channel in the description box because you have been so helpful to me. I've really appreciated it. ~ Thanks, Sherry
Lol no trouble. You should be able to mount it where the tripod mounts the bracket that is. And the bracket will attach to the tripod. This is what I use Jorish L-Shape Bracket Holder for Flash Light Camera Mini DV Camcorder with Hot Shoe www.amazon.com/dp/B075JDF1MY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_HwmHAb3V4MQT3 let me know if that helps.
Just found your channel and looking at new cameras. R800 is what I am looking at more and more, I have an older Canon that uses the same mount your using with not many issues. Thanks for the vid.
I see they sell the batteries without the wall charger. Are you able to charge these on the vixia camcorder like the original battery plugged in camcorder or do you have to use the charger.
That would be a yes! Shot videos today battery was dead. Hook the power adapter to the aftermarket battery on the camera. Is now fully charged. Hope that helps Great question.
Hey friend, I have this camera. I'm using it for ASMR Eating. I can't seem to get a good up close shot of the food. I also need to get my myself in the shot as well. Zach Choi, a top ASMRist, is who I'm trying to model my set up after, but I can't figure it out. Maybe you could watch one of my videos and compare with one of his videos. I'm not sure what I should do. I was thinking maybe a lens would help the right angle I need? -Nikki
Help! I need a cable that goes from my Vixia camcorder to my laptop. There are videos I have to transfer to my laptop but I can't seem to find the right cable.
Cool thanks bro .Hey did you ever make a tutorial video about film editing and using the editor software if so please send me the link but hey thanks you've been a great help now I can try my new hobbies 😃 yeah 😎😎 thanks crazy Will.

@@CrazyWillTechShow is there a model you can recommend for clean HDMI output- with remote capability- for live streaming-- workshops and paint courses .. zooming in is important for art..., your thoughts?
I have never done live streaming mainly because I don’t trust myself lol but I would go the next step up to www.amazon.com/Canon-VIXIA-HF-R80-Camcorder-Black/dp/B01N1YETIX/ref=sr_1_3?gclid=CjwKCAjwkenqBRBgEiwA-bZVtqyl-Kc9SEFC6XY3xpNgKgIbJW_brxkIdyh3z5Wyu7JxNnVCQ6uWDxoCYAUQAvD_BwE&hvadid=242054249277&hvdev=t&hvlocphy=9009956&hvnetw=g&hvpos=1t1&hvqmt=e&hvrand=9238582829225280045&hvtargid=kwd-411183550491&hydadcr=18471_9458793&keywords=canon+-+vixia+hf+r80&qid=1566271957&s=gateway&sr=8-3 it has WiFi so you can Control it with your phone or tablet. I don’t know why but you left a comment and it not showing here. To answer your question you need a Capture card in order to use you camera as web cam. I know it sucks.
Hey man thanks for the review on this cam and accessories I'd been looking at this set-up for awhile now I film urban exploration and would you recommend this camera for urbex any input and advise would be appreciated and thanks... subbed your channel 👍
Thanks for subscribing. It’s good small camera will work great for you. Think I said everything I like on it. For your work memory cards lots of them. Lol. and batteries. I would also check out my want to be go pro video. You might like that camera too.
Crazy Will Tech Show I've never owned a go pro I've seen the videos about the hero 2018..hero five and hero six and in my opinion mixed reviews on audio and video quality on all three models...the reason I'm looking at them is I currently use a vivitar 917HD action camera the camera has good visual but horrible audio.. after watching your videos and several others reveiwing go pros I think I'm gonna go with the Canon cam corder you reviewed...once again thanks for your time 👍
Great vid, very helpful. Quick question: if you use an extreme wide and and zoom, does it help give that blurry background depth of field at a closer range?
Like I said I’m not a big camera guy. But I believe that has to do with f-stop or aperture. When I get a chance I will slap the Lens on there And play with some of the settings in the camera and let you know.
Crazy Will Tech Show awesome, Thanks so much. Just bought the r800 and using it in my channel. Love it so far. You do great work bro. Keep it up and thanks for all you do
Ok I was playing in my studio put the fisheye lens on and looked up how to mess with Focus. Looks like you can do it but not very well. Its a auto camera so it likes to fight with you. Its in the hard to explain so I'm going to do a Quick tip video on Monday if I get time this weekend.
how did u adjust the audio so that takstar works better? tell me please, iam also using cannon vixia hf r800, and also wanna buy the takstar but tell me what did u do to adjust the settings so that the audio on the takstar gets better thanks
The charger I wound up getting for mine only had one slot for the battery. The one I got has a flip out plug on the back of it which I liked. As for my filter I got one of those that you just twist to make it lighter or darker. I bought the same mic you did, I was impressed with it. Be careful, because it's easy to spend more on accessories than you did on the camera. I'm fixing to spend a little bit of money on a DSLR I got cheap. I got a Canon EOS Rebel for $0.99.
Wow .99.. yeah but most can use on new camera later on. Still have all my video equipment from like 10 year ago and use most of them. Yeah that mic is pretty good. Thanks for watching.
I noticed in a different video you have the microphone connected to a different "handle".....so I was just wondering If the zgrip will allow the microphone to connect to it?
If you have a PC do you have Windows movie maker on there. But if you want more professional software that’s going to cost you monthly fee I like Adobe premier.
@@CrazyWillTechShow ok thanks you so much wow getting excited so them i'm guessing this has a clean feed output so what that mean is all data and stuff metadata. like the time, auto, and other thing that show versus a clean feed when all that is gone
You not gonna get any of that It just like hooking it up to a monitor which I do all the time. I hope I’m helping a little bit. Sorry just never had a need for a Capture card. But I get a lot of questions about it.
wondering if it can do a clean feed output what that is. is when all your cameras data metadata show up on the screen like the time auto 30" and other thing that show up but in a clean feed all that is gone i planing to do liver broadcasting with a caption card
Good vids man. I also use this camera for my YT channel "The Zamp Camp" but I get a lot of video noise especially in low light. I don’t know why but you left a comment and it not showing here. To answer your question you need a Capture card in order to use you camera as web cam. I know it sucks.
Any word on if there is a compatible remote?!
Unfortunately no but if you go for the next model up you can control it with your phone.
The fisheye "floats" in frame, any idea how to prevent it from doing this and to keep everything centered in frame? Thanks!
YES! Forgot to mention that in my video. Turn off stabilization. Very frustrating. Thanks for watching.
Crazy Will Tech Show ok cool and thanks I'll check it out I was considering the go pro 2018 or hero five thanks again 👍
How is the audio on the go pro? I’ve seen the video which is really impressive but never got to hear the audio.
Crazy Will Tech Show I've never owned a go pro I've seen the videos about the hero 2018..hero five and hero six and in my opinion mixed reviews on audio and video quality on all three models...the reason I'm looking at them is I currently use a vivitar 917HD action camera the camera has good visual but horrible audio.. after watching your videos and several others reveiwing go pros I think I'm gonna go with the Canon cam corder you reviewed...once again thanks for your time 👍
Thanks for the info.
Keep it up and thanks for all you do
Thanks man as you know that means a lot.
Ok I was playing in my studio put the fisheye lens on and looked up how to mess with Focus. Looks like you can do it but not very well. Its a auto camera so it likes to fight with you. Its in the hard to explain so I'm going to do a Quick tip video on Monday if I get time this weekend.
how did u adjust the audio so that takstar works better? tell me please, iam also using cannon vixia hf r800, and also wanna buy the takstar
but tell me what did u do to adjust the settings so that the audio on the takstar gets better
thanks
I told you in the last comment to watch the video I made tells you everything on the takstar and Canon Vixia.
ow okay
thanks btw😂😂😂😂❤️
No problem man. I just didn’t understand why you where asking. My video had all the details.
hey will these accessories work with the vixia hf r600?
That awesome!
xD sorry to confuse you Will. I was asking if they did work sorry for the mix up. Wonder if you get that a lot xD
oh sorry I don't know. But i would say yes bc its the same body an lens size.
its fine and thanks
Does the microphone you recommened fit with the c bracket ?
C bracket?
@@CrazyWillTechShow I'm sorry. This is all new to me. The stabilizer thingy you hold while filming. The z grip!!!! Lol
I noticed in a different video you have the microphone connected to a different "handle".....so I was just wondering If the zgrip will allow the microphone to connect to it?
You talking about the L bracket? Not a fan bc the screw in connector made it crooked.
@@CrazyWillTechShow does the microphone connect to the zgrip?
What software do you use to edit these videos from your Cannon?
imovie its free with a mac, but you could use any software.
Crazy Will Tech Show dang I have a pc. Any suggestions?
If you have a PC do you have Windows movie maker on there. But if you want more professional software that’s going to cost you monthly fee I like Adobe premier.
Great video man thanks
Thanks 😊
Can you get a remote for this camera?
Unfortunately there is no remote. I looked and looked.
if I'm going to connect this to a capture card what type of cord do I need USB 3 or HDMI?
I’ve never done it. But I would just go with a HDMI. Canon doesn’t even support USB outside their own software. From my experience.
@@CrazyWillTechShow yes that help thank you again so much
plug the usb cord to a phone charging block it works i tried it.
wondering if it can do a clean feed output what that is. is when all your cameras data metadata show up on the screen like the time auto 30" and other thing that show up but in a clean feed all that is gone i planing to do liver broadcasting with a caption card
Good vids man. I also use this camera for my YT channel "The Zamp Camp" but I get a lot of video noise especially in low light. Please can you tell me what settings you use and how you get such clear video. I just finally bought umbrella lights but have not used them in any vids yet. Thanks in advance dude keep it up!
Thanks man! Take a look at this video I go through the menu and show you my settings How to adjust mic levels on the Canon Vixia HF R800ua-cam.com/video/1gW8HG5AhpA/v-deo.html that on Bralla light will help you a lot. Really spend the time playing with settings and The umbrella light. I have quite a few videos talking about the Canon Vixia, and have more coming out. Thanks for watching.
