    no one seems to mention price in any of these comparrison videos. the zx10r is the cheapest. cheaper for parts
    probably cheaper servicing. all these things mean you can get very close to the pace of the fastest bikes available and save a packet. a front and rear sprocket will cost 50 quid and then its a different bike

      Be honest, gen 4 and gen 5 zx10s are faster than 2015+ r1 in a straight line. But not a huge gap tho, much like a 720s or p1 (zx10r) is a bit faster in a straight line than a porsche 918 (r1).
      But the 918 sets faster lap times around the track.

    so how do they compare to a 1299 Panigale? I know comparing twins to 4 cyls are a huge difference but... The R1 now has comparable power, if not quite as much torque.

  • @702stormrider
    @702stormrider 7 років тому +62

    These reviews are so misleading. Kawasaki is always used in its most neutered form. Euro 4 and us spec zx10r for comparisons to bikes that aren't restricted isn't a real review of what the bike can do. The zx10r with flash , pipes and 30 dollar gear change is roughly the same, if not more power and feel as a BMW s1000rr. And I always see these reviews talking trash about inline 4's like it's a trash motor. But all dominating bikes in any class are inline 4's not v twin, not v4. From 98 Yamaha r1 , 2002 gsxr 1000, 2005 gsxr 1000 to 2010 BMW s1000 to current zx10rs have been world champion superbikes for the past 20 years. Keep talking about soul and feel GTFOH. For anyone looking to buy a bike u won't regret. Buy an inline 4! End of story.

    • @Nonicknameleftforme
      @Nonicknameleftforme 6 років тому +13

      I don`t know where you get your information, but you are talking rubish! You say that since 1998 inline 4s have dominated every class?! Where? If you take WSBK as the highest class there is, the inline 4s are completely beaten and at the bottom!
      Since 1988, the founding of WSBK, Ducati's V.. correctly L-Twins won the championship 17 times!!!
      Honda won 4 times with a V4 layout and in 1999 was so desperate, eventhou 2nd, that they've rather made their own V-Twin to try to beat Ducati. Guess dumping money into an RC45 that nobody bought was too expensive even for Honda...
      Aprilia won 4 championships with her V4, but I guess we can call the 2010 titel a cheating, because of their gear driven cams, so after disqualification Ducati would be the championship winner.
      And finaly we have 5 championship wins by your beloved inline 4s... Wow!
      So I'd be more careful with what you say there.
      Yes inline 4's are more succesful in BSB, which has an incredibly high standard and they are more succesful in cup races all over the world. That's true!
      It comes from the thing, that it's easier to tune them, it's cheaper, way cheaper, to run them and it's way easier for riders to ride them. Any non-ace rider will be quicker on an inline 4, but the best will be able to benefit from the V-Twin and V4.
      BTW., not even in MotoGP were inline 4s a real succes... The only manufacturer able to win with a inline 4 layout was Yamaha, but all other succesful makes were V4's even in the two stroke era.
      And not anyone will apreciate a inline 4 even on the street. I am completely bored of inline 4's. Really! Don't like the way I have to rev it like a maniac to get something out of the engine. It all went to trash with 1000cc inline 4's, where the displacement takes care of everything, but 600's... Only on Ducati's I learned to enjoy corners and not the full throttle open on the straight sections between them.
      Everybody has it's opinion and everybody likes something different, but that is the reason, why not every bike is an inline 4 and I am so happy about it!
      And to be honest, an aircooled, 2 valve engined Monster 1000 was the most funny bike I've ever ridden. It is so rewarding without puting you into danger and every twist of the throtle makes you smile and feel warm!
      I guess I have to see for myself, if I really need that 160hp, but maybe one day I'll get back to that aircooled L-Twin and enjoy tight turns.
      Personaly I don't understand the need of a 200hp Supersport on conventional roads, using just the 1st three gears out of six and if you want to hammer it go to the highway and destroy your tire by flattening it. How many people do track days on their superspoorts? Only a few out of them who buy them.

      i'm sure the Americans and such get the same Euro4 regulated bikes we do as it would cost to much for manufacturers to develope/assemble separate bikes for non compliant countries...if we don't adopt Euro4 as a country, there may be a chance we can get away with changing exhausts etc to help 'open up' the bike, to early to know really, good question though.

    • @blue03r6
      @blue03r6 8 років тому

      +heathy912 i dont know about that. cars and bikes sold in california (one of our states) have more emissions parts than vehicles sold in all other states. yamaha for example doesnt put the immobilizer system on our bikes either. if the stuff doesnt need to be there im sure the manufacturer isnt going to put it on so they can keep the price lower.

      Can't see the manufacturers making dirty bikes just for us Brits...

    • @irritatedmushroom2
      @irritatedmushroom2 8 років тому

      Unlikely. Manufacturers prefer large markets to be governed by the same sets of rules to reduce costs. If Kawasaki, BMW, Honda etc didn't have to follow Euro 4 rules in the UK, they'd only be making a bike compliant for one, comparatively small, market. It wouldn't make sense.

    • @slipersox
      @slipersox 8 років тому

      +Nathan Bellows nooe, because America doesn't have euro4 so they'd just ship us the same model. Also Honda will not sell the cbr600rr over here next year because it costs too much for them to make a new one euro4 compliant. Although, non euro4 countries will still be able to buy new ones.

    • @irritatedmushroom2
      @irritatedmushroom2 8 років тому

      One way or another, vehicles will be emissions tested whether it's by European standards, American standards or by whatever new rules get dreamt up by our own government. It's not like their hard work is that difficult to undo - full exhaust system + PCV, job done. I agree it's a shame about the CBR600RR, although its demise is really a sign of the larger picture when it comes to mid-size sport bikes. Why have a 600 when you can buy a 1000cc bike with a raft of electronic safety features making it almost as usable as a 600 for not a lot more money? In terms of engineering the challenges are almost identical to produce a 600 as it is for a litre bike. 600s are a dying breed.

  • @gizzmo84
    @gizzmo84 8 років тому

    So would a full system, rearsets and minor gearing change make the ZX10 into an R1 beater, or do you think the nature of the R1's engine will always make it a more interesting bike than the ZX10?

    • @ShamanWS6
      @ShamanWS6 8 років тому +1

      Having watched the R1 carefully this year as a possible next race platform, I see major issues with the traction control, wheelspin and wheelies. The bike has some really good qualities, but at race pace it is not performing and these reasons are paramount. The big race teams are even having troubles, and they have factory support with custom computers, etc. The main issue is that TC will abruptly cut and re-set causing the shock to pump and it'll jack the front end right out from under you... that is, if the "slide control" doesn't burn the rear tire off with unpredictable slides. To get it all working right takes a work of genius. The chassis seems really good, the engine is definitely strong, but the package just isn't working for amateur / semi-pro teams.

      +Steve C We've talked about the R1 before I don't know if remember really. I'm just here to add that, in my national one liter class, the new R1's dominate, especially in tight circuits with low traction. Take that as you will

    • @blue03r6
      @blue03r6 8 років тому

      +Steve C rave teams you see on tv are not running stock electronics. most teams use magneti marelli. and most racers turn it off or so far down it doesnt appear to be working. after all, it does limit power output.

    • @ShamanWS6
      @ShamanWS6 8 років тому

      You really can't compete on the R1 without electronics, the problems that the TC try to fix exist but worse on a race bike without it - the very light rotating assembly and short wheelbase make the bike a handful at pro speeds. The R1 is *NOT* dominating in SuperStock classes, where you can find bikes you can actually buy without a large-dollar factory sponsorship agreement like Graves has. The RSV4 has been dominating in WSST and MA SST, in club racing it's mostly the ZX10R and S1000RR. The RSV4 and ZX10R are also doing extremely well in AUS SST.

      Idiot i just read about R1 in fastbikes-superbike and last Perofrmnce bikes where Michael Rutter is the pilot and he said it was the best TC ever and best race bike stock vs stock he had ever tried the amature where agreeing hmmm but you know better i`ve also ridden the new R1 and it`s the best bike agile and TQ and flickability bike i`ve ever ridden..
      And i own a well tuned Gen4 zx10r with 200.5rwhp new shock that being said that R1 was insane good and thats was stock.. The only probleem with it is the slipper clutch when you go from 6-1 gear it can lock up that means getting out of shape aa bit..

    • @bonnieboriboun

      Adam Stratford
      WSBK since '15 has been all Zx-10r, ironically the same year this "new" R1 came out to WSBK. You say "refined"?! Lol Kawi has won 15/16/17 WSBK based on this 2011 zx-10 model. Refined is what this zx-10 is....R1 lots of technology but on the track, where it matters; is a big disappointment. A lot of R1M owners were pissed to see what the zx-10 has done since 2015. Yes I own a Kawi, but that's the truth; too much hype. Just look at 2017 WSBK and see where this R1 has come compared to Zx-10. Hint R1 not even a podium in any of the first 4 rounds. This is world level riders, factory backed and based on production bike models. Had to vent this all out-way too much hype this R1...if it was close in the races it would be understandable, but the race results are embarrassing for Yamaha, and they know it, and so do you. And all the other R1 lovers. WSBK champ 3 years in a row!!! This year is a copy of last 2. 4 rounds 4 1st's enough said.

      Wrong it has full exhaust you only need to remove CAT but it wont gain as much as the other bike casue the end can is tuned propperly at Kawasaki.. This system they allso has as a option by on the "new"zx14 and they got 8whp gain even when the CAT was on.. so when they removed it only 2whp gain.. ALL 1000cc kawasaki trough time has full titanium exhaust
