I had this one friend that started out being really funny. Then, over time, she literally made sure I felt hated every second. Like, she'd still act like my friend (follow me everywhere, sit with me at lunch, talk to me, etc) but she'd constantly make jokes at my expense. Whenever I bothered to say anything that wasn't about her, she'd start talking to someone else or just leave. Basically, she would constantly be near me just so she could blab about herself and put me down for having interests and a life.

ok I'm just going to say that letting go of a toxic friend whether forced or by your own accord is so freeing. I had a friend that was always bragging about how he was faster, taller, and stronger than me, and would get mad and lash out at me when I had something to brag about. slowly, with the help of other friends and a extremely hurtful insult he said, (WHICH HE DENIES SAYING) I now live by the philosophy of "the best revenge is a life well lived."

I knew a girl who only hung out with the younger girls in the grade below hers, the reason was everyone in her grade hated her guts because she was insane. The narrative that everyone who doesn't have friends is the victim is very misleading, sometimes there's a reason someone doesn't have friends.

I always hand out with younger students since kids my age says i'm weird, sciense nerd, teacher pet and childish ( like guys we're kids ...? ) and few ( only few ) of them bullied me even physically sometimes, i will admit that i do wrong things like use violence over myself or people who annoy me + having pronunciation issues and more but i don't think that those are good reasons...
Like my teacher was nice and will always try to help us during the exams ( not with cheating ), didn't mind to explain anything we didn't understand anytime but they still hated her because our scoold books is soo full and she had to finish everything so we didn't get a break, it wasn't her fault but well still talk badly about her so... i don't mind being "teacher pet" if it meant to not talk badly behind people back

Had a similar experience. In 8th grade I befriended a girl who went to my elementary school but didn't talk much to. At the start she was nice but eventually when she opened up to me I became her emotional punching bag. Anyway, I was sick of getting bruises so I ghosted her for the rest of the year. HOWEVER, a friend that we both had told me she was sad that I didn't talk to her anymore, and told me to write her a letter. I basically explained I didn't want to be her friend anymore cause she kept punching me in the arm and gut and tried to blackmail me several times. You know, THINGS THAT MAKE SENSE TO AVOID. Then the girl ripped it up and never talked to me again. Happy ending!

Sounds to me like Abby was more “weird” than “toxic”. She doesn’t actually hurt you the way toxic people do, she just misunderstands social cues and makes people uncomfortable. Then she’s upset when people begin to avoid her.
Now obviously no one has any obligations to hang out with her, but I think the general gist of this video is a bit mean spirited. The idea seems to be “don’t hang out with the weird kid. She deserves to have no friends.” This is basically the other side to the stories of kids being outcast in school and stigmatized so much they become “untouchable”. Even new kids are warned against them. Again, no one has any obligation to be nice to people who make them uncomfortable, but I do think try to have compassion. A lot of these kids have a messed up home life and a simple conversation about what they’re doing wrong would work wonders for their development, rather than silent withdrawal and isolation.

@@Lady_of_Winds I didn't get the toxic vibe from Abby at all, it seemed to me that she was just weird, clingy and jealous, which is like totally fine. I'd hang out with her. I mean, she literally just talked a bit nsfw jokes or something, like some dark humour I dunno, so her friends decided to avoid her, and the first thing she did is casually throw her friend's backpack on the ground, tell me if that isn't jealousy or abandonment issues. That's all she did, even writing a letter, haha, seems to me, that she was quite an emotional kid. Maybe she is just that one kid that everyone hates for some reason, like a scapegoat. I think every school had one. There was a girl at my school who everyone bullied, and I do mean everyone. They said mean stuff about her, they joked about her, it's just terrible. Many of my classmated told me to avoid her or to join in on bullying. I talked to her, she was just a goofy girl, but other than that, totally normal and not different than any other kid. People are just savages. Weirdest thing was that she did not change schools, even though it would have been much better for her mental health. I'm glad Abby dropped out, changed a school, maybe, she got treated better in the next school

People here don’t know how frustrating it is to have an Abby in their lives. I had one and all year long i made my best to make her feel at ease and accepted by others. But you know what ? Generaly, Abbys don’t want to change, they don’t see the problem, so at the end you are just throwing away all your energy to make an ungratful person happy. When i choosed to ghost her she started talking shit behind my back. No regrets. If people need help, they have to see that they are the problem first.

Thats not what friendship is, and honestly they had every right to stop talking to her. I was pretty annoying in elementary, and felt left out alot. Honestly? I can say first hand I deserved it. People got sick of me easily so I sucked it up and stopped being so annoying. If you ask me it actually taught me a valuable lesson; nobody owes you friendship.

I feel so jealous, your toxic friend left your school, even though my group broke up with our 'toxic friend'. She never even listened to us, she was too vulgar, she was pretty much self-absorbed and I think she still is. Every time a problem arose in the group she believed it was us being mean to hear and not the other way around. I could make a whole book about it, I'm still mad at her and to be completely honest I would feel no regret at all if she died.

The thing is some people, would force their way into someone. I had an experience with a toxic “ex friend”. Who constantly want drama. This person is almost 31 and I’m 26. You’d think they would have some level of maturity. But no. They constantly judge people and god knows he probably did it to me behind my back. Because he did it to his own best friend. So as a friend I politely called him out on it. We got to talking and everything went well. A year later I was able to see this friend again, he asked if we wanted to hang out. I’m like cool yeah that would be great. Apparently he lost a few friends over the years and would say, no I don’t talk to them anymore… I wonder why.
Now I don’t know what I did to even deserve the shit that is going to happen in that one whole day of spending time with him, but honestly my cup just got so full due to me being patient with him.
1. Constantly forcing me to do things that I specifically replied with “no thanks I don’t want to do that” (putting stuff on my face or putting a lot of hair products on my hair) like a make over. But that’s the thing. I really did not want it. But still he did it anyway.
2. Because his parents were being uhhh “difficult” to him, he then assumed my parents only supported me with my career because they forced or they want something out of it. Like whut?!! ( at this point I was still patient and understanding. I’m like you know what whatever he is emotional right now)
3. He then proceeded to attack my goals in life. Telling me that im just way too focused on this goal and should be open to other opportunities. That im looking life through blinders and not gonna go anywhere and end up alone like his successful accountant friend Amanda. (Im like wtf is going on here. I worked hard to where I am right now. In college I did not even know what I wanted and after years I finally found it. Then someone who I hang out with a couple of times tells me this shit?!) but of course again patience is key but i was at my limit.
4. Then finally. He suddenly asked about my best friend who I consider as my family at this point. I didn’t tell much because I did not want to reveal shit about her to a random person. I said less. And then he proceeded to attack her! Telling me how I should hangout with people who have a better influence on me because he assumed she has been single for awhile (because I did not tell personal things about her) and that’s the reason I have been single for year.
Holy fuckin shit. I blew up. Not in a way that is way too violent. More like trying to talk while crying and the ugly kind lol. I told him he had no right. Blah blah. And then I stopped talking to him and damn i felt good driving off knowing I’m not gonna spend another day with this person.

Nah don’t worry it’s not as horrible as teen movies make it out to be. I had a pretty good freshman year last year and had a lot of fun. I can’t speak for your experiences or where you live, but I didn’t have to deal with anything like this.

Just try to go unoticed, dont call for attention but dont let anyone bully u, ask friends for help if that happens. U dont have to fight just intimidate them and letting them know u arent alone.
