The negativity doesn't make sense considering the majority including me uses a 100 yards as a base line for how accurate a rifle is and to sight in at. Granted knowing how a rifle does at distance is also good to know but either way I'd still be interested in centerfire rifle shooting videos.
Everyone that has ever sighted in a new scope on a long range rifle starts at 50 or 100 yds. With bolt action rifles you can look down the bore at 25 yds and crank the scope and be on paper at 100 yds. So I agree. Once we weigh and sort our cases then we still develop the rounds at 100 yds and shoot some at steel at longer range until we settle on a load. That gun really does shoot good with factory ammo. Handloads that follow bench accuracy protocol should one hole around .150".
@@str3tchr All my bolt rifles shoot in the ones and twos even the bone stock .223 VTR with the right loads. Oops not bone stock (I changed the stock and trigger) I assume you have seen people burn out .243 barrels and not ever get them to shoot. I also assume you use Quicload and techshooter's spreadsheet for barrel timing and weigh/match the water volume of every cartridge. If so you can surmise that a 223 with 25.4 grains of a certain powder and bullet will shoot ones and 24.5 will eject from an AR but shoot a 3" group. Even with Lapua, Nosler/Norma cases. Bergara is a well built gun out of the box.
Most Long Range bullets like the Berger only stabilize well past 500 yards where you can take advantage of the BC of the bullet. I also have a HMR in 300 Win Mag. I really like the 215gr Berger and H1000. But for normal hunting the 180gr Nosler Accubond and 74.0 of IMR 4831 using WLR primer in WW cases for 500 yards and under.
I don’t get it either.. beyond a couple hundred yards I dont think the rifle is the greatest factor for accuracy, instead its the shooter and bullet. By that I mean if a rifle and ammo combo can deliver very small groups at 100 then the rifle is inherently accurate. Continuing that same accuracy out 500+ is up to the shooter and bullet design, not so much the rifle itself. I guess 100 just doesn’t Wow the internet…

That’s a nice setup, Buffalo. I looked at that model but decided on RPR, same caliber. Another informative video. Good stuff. I’m looking forward to your series on long range shooting.
I like your choice in modern target rifles. One problem some critics need to understand is having a safe 1,000 yard range is a near impossible place to find. In most parts of the Country 600 yard ranges are just as rare. When you start shooting at these ranges you can spend lots of money for equipment and ammo; not to mention the time factor and travel to these ranges. Making a long range shooting video would take weeks to do properly. Wind and weather can make it nearly impossible to do. I enjoy your videos on the subjects you choose and thank you for making everyone.✨🐃✨🤠

Great choice for a new long range rifle. The B14 HMR has a deserved good reputation. I have a few long range rifles. I have the ability to shoot out to over 1000 yards at my local range that is just 10 minutes from my house. I live in a Colorado. We are blessed with lots of opportunity to shoot longer range here. I handled a few of these Bergaras in a gun store a few months ago. I was impressed with the quality. The fit. Wow. And the smoothness of the bolt. Holy Mackerel!
What the hell!? I would still be interested in what one will do at 100 yards. If it is accurate at 100 yards you can have an educated idea at what it will do at a distance. as a reloader rifleman for over 42 years I have learned and experienced great hands on success and like most folks I don’t have much land for long range shooting. until my and sister and nephew s inherited farm is sold I can shoot 450-500 yards but watch out for cattle. I would like to take this time to show the importance of shooting 200 yards. a good friend of mine I went to church with, a single parent bought a Winchester in 270 with scope. asking me to help sight it in because he never owned a scope before. after sighting a 100 yards. under 3/4 inch group . I said ok brother Tim now 200 yards. he said no need it’s good enough. I said no way it’s leaving here with out checking at 200 yards. I knew his money was tight , I told him look if we shoot up your shells ill buy or reload you some were going to check this gun . so at 100 yards perfect but 200 yards it shot 10 in high , 10 in to right of center. the holes for scope bases were off center and really don’t have to be much to pull off that bad . so I looked around and found a soda pop can and cut a shim , loosened scope rings enough to put shim where needed to be to change impact point . tighten down, fired one bullet dead center but 10 in high adjusted scope, fired one shot about perfect center bullseye, fired second shot to verify first shot., both shot 1 in group fired third shot if I remember correctly group went to slightly over a in at 200 yards. is brother Tim your ready to hunt and still got about half a box of shells. fire arms manufacturers will all of the best people and equipment, it’s impossible to build a perfect rifle with mass production. many wonderful rifles are traded every year by people thinking they got burnt on a gun traded but didn’t know what to check for. usually it’s a small matter that a old fart like me fix many times. In Eastern PA I have the same problem. Unless you are lucky or rich enough to have access to a big farm, you won't see more than 100-200 yards here. My gun club has a 200 yard range, and I feel very lucky to have that. I can see the view behind you and it's pretty much the same here, trees and rolling hills everywhere.
Thanks for your videos, I enjoy watching and learning always something here. I appreciate your style in the reviews you do. Keep them coming Buffalo, greetings from Wisconsin.
Brother, it’s all good as long as you are pulling the trigger and working to get better. Don’t pay no mind to trolls who question 100 yard shots. If you consistently shoot 1 moa at 100 yards, that’s half the width of most large mammals torsos at 1000 yards. You are well within the zone and gold. Like your content. Keep up the good work. I will like and subscribe.
....I'd only shot @100 yards with a .22lr until I bought my first centrefire in February this year, a .223 Rem. I've now shot @300, 500, 600, 900 & 1000 yards! Up to 500 the accuracy was excellent and was holding around 1 MoA with factory ammo. After that it starts being more about the ballistics and reading the conditions (wind, temp etc) with the small calibres but it was still great to hit a bull @1000 yards..especially without any cantilever elevation on my scope. Hope you enjoy shooting longer range.
Ignore the negative comments. Those people have miserable lives, and misery loves company. I enjoy your videos. I don't care if you're shooting a cannon, slingshot, or anything in-between.
Same boat my range was 80 yards and longest public was 200 yards. When you are in Midwest farm country you need a bean field to shoot over if you want to stretch your legs and with cattle and such it wasn't very feasible. I could sit on my deck and shoot deer or turkeys at 30 yards or less. Not what you call a super challenging shot. Can't wait for part 2.
Just a little tip Buffalo, take it for what it's worth. If you place the fore-end in the front bag in the same place every time your groups will get a little better
In my opinion the only down side to these rifles is the weight. The B-14 HMR is almost 10 pounds. That being said, if that's the only issue this will be my next rifle. Loved the review Buffalo and I just subscribed.
It's great that your B14 HMR shoots so well. I have one in 308 that won't consistently group under 1 MOA for 5-shot groups, even with the Premium Factory Ammo they recommend. I sent it back to them, they shot a couple 3-shot groups and sent it back to me without even touching it telling me they were returning it. I thought it was me until I got a Tikka CTR which averages under 0.5 MOA with just about every bullet I throw at it. I'm definitely not impressed with Bergara or their Customer Service.
I love my HMR in 308 so much i recently also got the b14r 22lr and it is now my FAVORITE gun that I own. I just got my DM targets KYL target yesterday and me and one of my nieces put that thing to its paces today. My god it was so fun and she is hooked. Today was her first time shooting ever. Wish I had somewhere to shoot out to 1000yards.
Oh man! Nice set up. Now for the fun part! I bought a 6.5 CM a couple weeks ago myself. Just started getting things together. I'm still shooting my 308 Winchester also. 6.5 components are tough to find at times. I like it so far. I've had it to 1000 yrds with factory ammo. Just got my components together for hand loads. Can't wait to see you break 1000 yrds my friend! Enjoy that Bergara Buffalo.
Good rifle for the money and as it uses an action based on the Remmy 700 any stock, barrel or rail for the 700 will fit right on the Bergara. There were some dud barrels on new ones a while back which had bores which weren’t concentric to the barrel and lots were returned as when barrels warmed up the accuracy went South. I think they’re on top of this now. I tried one when looking for my first 308 and thought it had a smooth bolt action and a lovely trigger pull. Ended up spending a little more for a T3. You’ll really enjoy longer range. Trigger technique and natural aim position really matter when you go out longer distances. Glass matters too as you need a scope which has both quality optics and reliable turrets for repeatable dialling. You guys in the States are lucky as you can still get the “poor man’s PM II” the Bushnell Tactical Elite…they are to scopes what the Bergara are to rifles... quality on a budget. You also may decide on reloading as home loads can be more precisely tuned to your rifle plus you might not always be able to get the ammo your rifkl likes. Re-loading is one rabbit hole you don’t want to go down unless prepared to take on another addictive money and time pit hobby 😂😂😂. It ‘s almost as much fun as the shooting itself but recommended because it teaches you lots about internal and external ballistics. You pay attention to the detail when you start and it rewards you for doing so. Best of luck from the UK buddy, hope you enjoy it👍
that first 5 shot group was about as good as any US Army sniper can shoot! Well Done! I like the 6.5 Creedmoor and Bergara does make fantastic rifle barrels for under $1500.00
thats pretty impressive !!! and its not broke in yet!! ....you are going love shooting distance !!! hopefully that scope will dial up and down correctly
Just do what you want , and ignore those negative comments , it’s your video and your supporters will support you no matter which firearm you’re reviewing 😁
I have the same rifle with an Arken 6X24. 20 moa base as well. I now have all the parts and ammunition supplies. We have a 600 yard range available. I shot there using my 16" barrel .308 . My best group was with IMI 150 grain fmj! A five shot group with some bull's eyes using a six power scope! I will also cook up some loads for my M48 Yugo and open sight AR -15 20" barrel. Shooting from the bench now but decades of coyote hunting in Montana was my start for long range.
That is a very nice set up you've got there Buffalo, I like it. I can't understand why there is negativity on the distance you're shooting, as someone else said below - not everyone has access to beyond 100 yards and your 100 yard group and zero (and velocity) should give you some idea of how it'll run at distance. A 3/4" group on a new barrel with factory ammo says this will be a pretty good shooter. Can't wait to see more of this rifle Sir.
You have been bitten! The line range bug is very contagious so I foresee mrs buffalo getting a similar setup pretty soon! I actually enjoy reloading ammo for long range as much as I like shooting it. Keep up the awesome videos and ignore the sally's. They cant shoot anyway!!!
As someone who lives in Florida, I understand the pain of being limited for your range; I'm moving out West once I can save up some money so I'll have some better opportunities out there. I like this video though, it gives very reasonable expectations and scenarios for people over here on the East Coast where it's either dense forests or mountains (or densely forested mountains). Nice job man Also: I don't understand the negativity you were talking about. Most of the people I've talked (read that as argued) with about that, it became pretty obvious 99% haven't shot much farther than 100 yards either so I wouldn't pay them any mind. Keep doing what your doing and good things will come I think
Nice first group. Congrats on a beautiful new rifle. Thanks for taking us along on the adventures. I would love to have a setup like yours with the ability to go 100 yards. Your friend’s range is icing on the cake.
My Cva cascades have some identical features. They claim to have bergera barrels but I’m guessing, after watching this, it’s a bergera rifle imported by cva. Great video!!
Great rifle and shooting. I have the b14 in 22lr and it’s more accurate than my cz mtr and less ammo sensitive. Looking forward to the series on this rifle.
My buddies and I have been through a few hunting seasons together. And NEVER have any of us taken a mule deer outside 100 yards. The takes are almost always at 50 to 70 yards max. With the accuracy of that Bergara barrel, real life hunting situations would be insanely easy. 💕👍👍😕👍 I am buying one, but my preference is toward Win 308
Well, I can't imagine why anyone would have negative comments about shooting a long range rifle at 100 yards. The fact is (okay, my opinion is) that if the bullet impacts are in a nice tight group at 100 yards, then the rifle is going to be capable of going out further, so long as its chambered for a cartridge capable of longer ranges and the barrel is getting the most velocity it can. For example, you may have a .308 Winchester rifle with a 10" barrel that has excellent accuracy at 100 yards but its not capable of stretching out. Conversely, I have a 300blk with a 10.5" barrel and 5R rifling that does an outstanding job of getting the most velocity out of the cartridge and remain compact, plus I manage 1 moa groups with SIG 300BLK 125grn OTM factory ammo. But, it isn't capable of going the distance either. My point is, if the rifle is set up for long range and your getting sub-moa groups at 100 yards then the rifle will go the distance BUT can the shooter?
Never heard of it, but now I gotta have one. From the article I just read, it'll shoot under half moa with several factory loads. Will be waiting on and watching the follow up videos 👍
Good job Buffalo! That’s a dandy. If I was going to do a bolt gun build I would most likely go with the same style of rifle. That speckled stock has always looked really good to me. I to am not a huge believer in barrel break in either. I’ve never seen enough of a difference that wasn’t human error to make me believe in it. I look forward to the series. Stay safe!
What I've found if nothing else it seems to cause the barrel to pick up less jacket material and makes it easier to clean. As far as accuracy I only wish I was good enough to give an opinion.

After that it starts being more about the ballistics and reading the conditions (wind, temp etc) with the small calibres but it was still great to hit a bull @1000 yards..especially without any cantilever elevation on my scope. Hope you enjoy shooting longer range.
I have LH 6.5. My friend helped me set it up with Vortex scope. I really like it.
Ignore the negative comments. Those people have miserable lives, and misery loves company. I enjoy your videos. I don't care if you're shooting a cannon, slingshot, or anything in-between.
I bought one of these rifles and collect it tomorrow. Ordered it with an Athlon 6-24x50 scope and can't wait to get it to the range.
Nice group looking forward to seeing the longer stuff 👍🙂
Same boat my range was 80 yards and longest public was 200 yards. When you are in Midwest farm country you need a bean field to shoot over if you want to stretch your legs and with cattle and such it wasn't very feasible. I could sit on my deck and shoot deer or turkeys at 30 yards or less. Not what you call a super challenging shot. Can't wait for part 2.
Best gun videos ever come from this man! And one heck of a shot ...
My range goes out to 200 yds, but my eyes only go out to 100 on a good day.
Love living vicariously through Mr. B.
Excited to see the series and excited for you to get to do some new types of shooting. I think you’ll have a blast
Appreciate the review, Buffalo. Thinking about getting something like this so very helpful.
I keep looking at the b14r every time I go to my local shop. No one seems to buy it. That might end up in my safe. I love my HMR.
H4350, Hornady 140 ELD, my favorite cartridge ! Thanks Buffalo!!
Well done, thorough ,informative . Thank you
The HMRs are great rifles. I got 3 of them now. 308, 300prc in their wilderness and their paramount muzzleloader
Your videos are honest and to the point !
Damn! That's a fantastic group 🤩
Best of luck from the UK buddy, hope you enjoy it👍
Looking forward to your coming series with this rifle!
that first 5 shot group was about as good as any US Army sniper can shoot! Well Done! I like the 6.5 Creedmoor and Bergara does make fantastic rifle barrels for under $1500.00
Great gun. Great group. Thank you sir.
Congrats on the new rifle. Great shooting.
thats pretty impressive !!! and its not broke in yet!! ....you are going love shooting distance !!! hopefully that scope will dial up and down correctly
I found one of these tonight on line but it's chambers in 7mm mag. So I appreciate your review even if it was a 6.5. Creekmore.
omg , one of the best groups i have seen ! great job.
Very nice indeed for a straight factory rifle . Many more. expensive custom guns could do no better. Excellent choice and excellent shooting .
Just bought the same rifle today thanks for the video
As someone who lives in Florida, I understand the pain of being limited for your range; I'm moving out West once I can save up some money so I'll have some better opportunities out there. I like this video though, it gives very reasonable expectations and scenarios for people over here on the East Coast where it's either dense forests or mountains (or densely forested mountains). Nice job man
Also: I don't understand the negativity you were talking about. Most of the people I've talked (read that as argued) with about that, it became pretty obvious 99% haven't shot much farther than 100 yards either so I wouldn't pay them any mind. Keep doing what your doing and good things will come I think
Excellent 5 shot group.
That is one beautiful rifle setup 👍👍👍 congrats…looking forward to many reviews 😊😊😊
Nice first group. Congrats on a beautiful new rifle. Thanks for taking us along on the adventures. I would love to have a setup like yours with the ability to go 100 yards. Your friend’s range is icing on the cake.
Nice rifle. Great features. Look forward to seeing you stretch it out.
My Cva cascades have some identical features. They claim to have bergera barrels but I’m guessing, after watching this, it’s a bergera rifle imported by cva. Great video!!
Been trying to decide what I want for a bolt gun for at least a year but I think this is the one thanks for the video Buffalo
Ignore the haters. Can't wait to see more videos with this rifle.
Great overview of,the rifle..good shooting👏👏
Great rifle and shooting. I have the b14 in 22lr and it’s more accurate than my cz mtr and less ammo sensitive. Looking forward to the series on this rifle.
My buddies and I have been through a few hunting seasons together. And NEVER have any of us taken a mule deer outside 100 yards. The takes are almost always at 50 to 70 yards max.
With the accuracy of that Bergara barrel, real life hunting situations would be insanely easy. 💕👍👍😕👍
I am buying one, but my preference is toward Win 308
I bought one in 300PRC a while back and it’s the best gun I’ve ever owned
Nice rifle,, good luck with it. I look forward to more videos.
Never heard of it, but now I gotta have one. From the article I just read, it'll shoot under half moa with several factory loads. Will be waiting on and watching the follow up videos 👍
I love mine
Good job Buffalo! That’s a dandy. If I was going to do a bolt gun build I would most likely go with the same style of rifle. That speckled stock has always looked really good to me. I to am not a huge believer in barrel break in either. I’ve never seen enough of a difference that wasn’t human error to make me believe in it. I look forward to the series. Stay safe!
What I've found if nothing else it seems to cause the barrel to pick up less jacket material and makes it easier to clean. As far as accuracy I only wish I was good enough to give an opinion.
That's a beauty!!
Great video Buffalo. Thanks for sharing what you do brother.
And by the way, gotta love the "haters".
