I walked out of the store with an RPR in 6,5CM + 5-25 PST Gen II for $2500 and I was shooting < 1/2 MOA with factory ammo and hitting steel out to 1000yds. All my buddies that have never shot steel at range call it "cheating" the first time behind it. Thank you Ruger for bringing us the RPR and pissing off the Gucci Gun fanbois.
Amen twin brother from another mother. I was in a thread in a forum and royally teed off some gucci bougies. I shared a pic of my TC Compass II in .308 shooting what looked like a 1/2" spread. Factory synthetic stock with 150 gr, which turned to be light and not the best for that gun (165 gr worked better.) Right out of the box, Vortex Diamondback Tactical 6-24X50 FFP on it (later changed to a Vortex Venom.) So, the other guy decides to call my gun garbage, my chosen cartridge garbage, and my optic garbage. He did a digital measured analysis. It was actually .54 inches apart. Understandable since I had used a Stanley tape measure and could certainly be off by .04 inches, which is not measurable without a caliper at the time. That is .51 MOA. Out of a 400 dollar rifle. So, I backed down and let them have the "win" of proving that my crap rifle and system were punching up and out of my "league." Any rifle is going to do better in a chassis because of the bedding. So, bravo to Ruger for figuring it out.
buddy of mine from work picked up a CZ 457 Varmint Precision 24" last summer. he was bragging how well his $1k 22lr rifle shot small groups at 50 yards. he kept begging me to bring my Ruger Precision 22lr to test both rifles side by side. using the same ammo my $400 Ruger shot the exact same group as his rifle. he was peeved to say the least.
I made the mistake of shooting my $1000 RPR side by side with my $4000 custom. Using the same factory ammo in both, the RPR printed the smallest group that day.
@sealove79able We are lucky having the 2A for sure. But believe me, the US government is chipping away at it little by little. Disarming the people seems to be a worldwide trend.
I don't have a custom action, I know custom actions are nicer because of how smooth the action is but but then my RPR 6.5prc shoots half an inch always and thus can't justify building a custom rifle. I do have a 7prc in ruger american go wild that I dropped in an mdt and it shoots the same. Ruger makes shooter.
My RPR 6.5 Cr puts the entire 10 rd mag in the same hole 5/8 inch at 100 yards, factory ammo, I decided I didnt need to put one more penny into a fancy build. RPR got it first time around. LOVE IT! Thanks Ruger Vortex Viper 5 x 25x50.
I bought a Gen 1 RPR in 6.5 Creedmoor when they first came out. I found it to be an accurate rifle. At 6oo yards I had shot a 1 1/2 inch 5-shot group. Still have it.
In 2007 I bought a Weatherby in 30-06 that shot .8 MOA groups with hunting ammo, and when I told my friends they all said I was lying. Five years later sub MOA guns were a dime a dozen. All things considered, 2005 to 2015 might be one of best decades for firearms since reconstruction.
It's funny how moa is such a big deal when a deer shot at 200 yards cant tell the difference between a .8 moa and a 2 moa gun because if you had the crosshair on his shoulder either way he dead.
I have the RPR in 6mm Creedmoor. It was .5 moa after initial load development and would hold .5 out to 1000 yards when the wind cooperated and I did my part. After 2500-3000 rds groups opened up to .75 with pretty regular flyers. I replaced the barrel with a high end carbon fiber and initial load development yielded a solid .25 moa! I swapped the barrel myself- the first barrel I have ever removed or installed. I have shot many groups at 1000 sub .5 moa. Nuts right? Oh yeah, I paid $799 for it new
I just bought an r p r. Had no idea what I was buying just like the look of it. Found out from a friend how good they are, So I put a leupold mark 5 7-35 tremor 3 reticle on it and I love it.
@@natecote1971Do you reload? If yes- LAPUA, if not, win mag. Loaded 338 lapua ammo is $6-7 per round Loaded 300 win mag is $1.50-3.50 a round for the luxury stuff. However…. 338 lapua brass can last 30 reloads if you have an annealer setup, anneal every 5 reloads. 338 bullets buck wind better and hit steel harder making for easier visual on several thousand yard steel. For a match tolerance chamber I’d prefer the 300prc over the win mag since it’s headspaced from the shoulder and not a belt, but that’s just me. The prc isn’t much more expensive than the win mag since it's
True story.. I went from casual 1911 carrying hobby shooter to FFL SOT selling adapter plates for Vortex to Canik at Panik Solutions and the RPR was a catalyst to meet people who were real shooters without the BS and the blind culture. One dedicated RPR/Vortex fan I met at that time is one of my best friends and now works at SilencerCo. These are not horribly uncommon tales in some small way. The influence of this rifle to the home rifleman cannot be over stated and gun an accessories makers should take note on the approach of inclusive pricing and engineering for EFFECTIVE (without significant functional quality sacrifice) cost savings.
There’s an encyclopedia in this statement. Ruger single-handedly changed what it means to be a rifleman at the beginning of the 21st century. I have no doubt this will be legendary.
This not an RPR testament, but a rifle build testament. Having watched vids of "UA-camrs" shoot 1" or less with ARs, I wanted mine to do the same. I'd already embarrassed a equipment snob with my entry level AR but the best I can get with it is about 1.5" groups. So I built another one, for about $1k total. Yeah, a few lessons learned. However, now I do have an AR that can, for me, print 0.5" groups. While at the range, of course I meet several others practicing and such. I don't claim any profound talent behind a rifle and one gentleman demonstrated a great deal of knowledge and skill. We had talked, gave me some pointers and such. I, being happy with what I'd built, wondered "How well can it shoot?". So during a break to let barrels cool, I asked if he'd mind putting a few rounds down range with my rifle. He shot a 3 round clover leaf and said "It's a shooter!" In hind sight I think he was irritated because a home built AR was printing better than his more expensive bolt action. We never found the problem with his rifle, but I was printing the same size groups with his that he was. Take aways? Try not to assume anything. Don't forget common courtesy. Do your best to keep an open mind, you might learn something.
My first 6.5 creed was an original RPR with a Viper PST. I remember seeing all the ads and videos and drooling over it until a year later when I finally found one for sale.
@@PowerPlant03 my RPR is awesome for a $1200 gun, not sure I would pay current prices for one. I would probably get 6.5 PRC instead of the creedmoor. I would probably get a higher magnification scope too. The gun is so heavy and handles recoil very well. I tried to hunt with it but it’s just too heavy. Definitely belongs on a tripod, bipod, or bench.
I've had the 17 hmr version for a year with the vortex vanquish scope , absolutely love it, everyone that I let shoot with it loves it. I just bought a 6.5 creedmoor and put a Viper pst on it, it's my first crack at long distance shooting and right out of the box I was amazed, I bought if for all the reasons you talked about, it just makes sense. Having the time on the 17 hmr really helped with the transition to the bigger caliber, I recommend them to everyone I know.
I shot my RPR first Gen in 243 Winchester. I looked through the barrel with the bolt remove to zero it first. First shot was all most a bullseye at one hundred yards. Second shot. Couldn’t figure out where it went. Third shot. Same thing. Walked down to the target and realized I was shooting in the same hole. Gun is so accurate. I have a muzzle brake on it. And that’s about the only upgrade. It is not fussy when comes to bullets ether.
I have the RPRimfire in .22lr. I love it, my 7 and 9 yr olds love it. The fight over who gets to shoot the bolt action vs the 10/22. Which speaks volumes that my 9 yr old prefers the rpr to the semi-auto 10/22.(they have a good time with both of course. I was actually out shopping for an M&P AR22 when I saw the RPR and got it instead. Zero regrets.
When it comes to the RPR everything good you said about this rifle on your show I'm in complete agreement with. I've had mine for several years now and the rifle never ceases to amaze me. I tried a fair number of handloads to see what worked best and I'd have to say they all worked great, some just a bit better. I settled on the 140 gr. ELD and I have several 100 yard targets hanging in my shop showing five shots through the same hole. I'm not into long distance shooting as a sport but while varmint shooting I have no trouble making 400+ yard shots without a problem. For glass I have a Vortex Viper 6-24x50 MRAD and that has turned out to be an excellent choice for this rifle. Great rifle, great scope.
I bought the Gen 1 not too long after it came it. I've done absolutely nothing but change the grip and add an optic. I didn't have much time to shoot until recently and I have NO experience with PRS. The RPR is such a pleasure to shoot, it's amazing! As someone mentioned previously, it's almost like "cheating." Thanks to Ruger for making such a great platform and Vortex for making such great optics!
I bought one when they first came out, I couldn't find one in 6.5CR so I bought a .243 and ordered a stainless barrel at the same time from LRI, it was the first rifle gunsmithing I had ever done. It shoots .25 moa if I do my part, I still shoot it regularly.
I just bought one in .338 Lapua Magnum a couple of weeks ago. I haven't even shot it yet. Just mounted a Vortex Venom last week and started working up some handloads. I can not wait to get to the range.
Great rifle, really played a part in the explosion of long distance shooting sports. An undeniable turning point offering timed right as 6.5 Creedmoor was blowing up. And yes the Ruger American Predator is so cheap and such a good shooter. We’re in salad days.
Those damn Predators. I picked one up in 6mm Creed. Stupid thing outshoots my Springfield Waypoint. Every day. It’s fantastic and frustrating at the same time because it makes my experience guns look bad!
I have the RPR in 338 Lapua. Topped it with the Viper PST Gen. II. Now don't be hate'n on me, I have had it about a year now and still have not shot it. Got everything to start loading for it but just not had the time!
My RPR 308 is my favorite rifle to shoot. Putting a LuthAR stock on it was the best upgrade I did, could never get a repeatable sight picture with the factory stock.
Love the RPR. Got it in 6.5 creed I have hunted with it and my 9yr old loves to plink. We may have her shooting to 400yrds this weekend.which should not be an issue with that setup. It will be the furthest she has shot!! Thanks for another great listen. Love the content.
I have been head over heels for this platform since the very first time my work pardner showed it to me all those years ago. It had to come out after I had said my I do’s, so thusly I did not, even at the fantastic value it represents. I was fortunate enough to cross paths with a fellow who wanted to divest himself of a Gen 3 RPR in .308. I’ll be the first to admit that it is not the ballistic darling of the ball, but dang if it doesn’t get the windows steamy all the way around the calendar. I have it all set up and ready for it’s maiden flight with me to the range which is yet to come. I have to confess though that I haven’t played with anything this much without taking it to the bank since I was fifteen years old. 😂 Ruger smashed the hell out of all the preconceptions with this platform. Until they brought this to the market you couldn’t play the long range game for less than 3k minimum, and that was just the beginning. This made every man not just Walter Middy with a gun but a potential contender. Ruger actually shifted the paradigm off the edge of the page. As you mentioned in your video, Vortex simultaneously either by kismet or Divine intervention brought the right toppings for the cake as the market was heating up. Kudos to whoever is driving your bus! You three are rapidly becoming some of my favorite generators of topical videos. Always on point and invariably bringing the past to the present to face the future. Keep up the good work and I look forward to sharing the product of my personal process with this platform with you. TTFN
Bought a 6.5 CM RPR a few years ago. Earlier this year I put on a Vortex Razor HD Gen II. 2/3 MOA 5 shot groups with Hornady Factory ELD Match ammo and makes 1000 easy (except for the wind).
That 5x25x56 strike eagle is perfect. It was released right when coved hit so no one heard about it. I bought a gen 3 rpr 6.5 in early 20 then bought the SE and put it on top and i shot my first 7 round 1 hole group for $2000 out the door. Worth every penny AMAZING ON BOTH PIECES OF EQUIPMEMT. Glad to see yours topped with the perfect scope
I just ordered this exact setup. New RPR and the 5x25x56 strike eagle. What size rings did you use to mount? Low, medium, or high? I ordered low, but I think I need at least medium.
Got the RPR in both 6.5CM and .22LR and love them, with a Vortex Venum on both of them. Only managed to shoot the 6.5 at 900yds so far, but shooting the .22LR at 300yds was a fun (but successful) challenge. Would be nice if the .22L had the same style stock as the centrefire, as it's annoying having to drop the cheek piece if I want to remove the bolt, but that obviously would have ramped up the price.
I picked up a deal on a gen 1 308 for $1k and put a diamond back tactical 6-24 on it and it’s amazing. I also have a RRP 22 and it is one of my absolute favorite 22s. It’s comparable to my CZ 457 mtr varmint setup that was way more expensive! Ruger nailed it with the RPR for sure
I loved the truthful sarcasm/stories when referring to hunting rifles. Sloppy rear mount, not the best scope, still getting sub MOA shots, and with witnesses ta boot. I think every hunter/shooter should hone their skills to have a sub MOA shot, with not the best equipment; that builds confidence, and confidence is a big part in getting that perfect shot because you're not doubting/worrying/wondering about your kit. I own an Axis II PR (first PR I've purchsed) and achieved consistent sub MOA groups within 30 minutes of the first fired round. I'm in the process of purchasing a RPR in 308 and can't wait to put some rounds downrange with it. The way these PR's are being manufactured, there really isn't any excuse for not being able to achieve a sub MOA group every time you go shooting; at least related to your kit that is. Great videos guys, keep up the good work.
OK guys I know lever guns aren’t platforms for expensive scopes, but you need to do a show on the new Mayodan made Marlins. Ruger bought Marlin out of the scrap heap Remington had become and built a new factory to make the guns right. And it shouldn’t be a surprise that new Marlins are surprisingly accurate for lever action rifles. (See what I did there? 😂)
I love my Rugers, I have the rim fire and a River American in an MTD chassis in 6.5 creed the the big boy the RPR in 6.5prs. All three and fantastic shooters I really enjoy them
Never been a Ruger fan, but a year ago I was wanting a bolt 22lr and after looking at several, I still kept going back to the Ruger Precision 22 due to cost of a 22 rifle and the adjustability. I still despise the accu trigger, crisp break but hate the flipper. May change to aftermarket 2-stage in the future. But, unbelievable accuracy! Once I found the loads it likes, it will shoot 15 shot ragged hole groups at 75 yrds
Just got my RPR rimfire recently. Only took it to 50 yards so far but I was amazed at the accuracy. Aguila 40g and a Diamondback HP 3-9x40 had me shooting in the same dime sized hole consistently
@@CaptainCranch - I tried approx 12 different 22 loads shooting 15 rnd groups at 75 yrds. It is crazy accurate with Eley club 40 gr, very good with Eley target 40 gr, but that is expensive ammo to shoot all of the time. The best I have found "so far" for my rifle that is affordable is Aguila 40 gr Super Extra, it will shoot 15 shot ragged hole groups all day.
My wife loves her rpr custom shop in 6.5 creedmoor. We are thinking that when she burns the barrel out, we will go with a 6 creedmoor. It is a great prs rifle out of the box. Great balance and has everything you could want in a custom rifle short of some weights in the chassis.
I purchased the Gen-2 Ruger Precision rifle in .308 and have been loving it ever since. As long as the scope is zeroed you will definitely be able to make sub MOA groups at 100 yards all day long.
Saw my buddy hit a prairie dog at 346y with an RPR chambered in 17hmr. He missed the first shot because of the wind. Measured the miss in his FFP glass, sent another one, and domed him standing by his mound. Solid guns!
@VortexNation yeah!? The shooter didn't think he killed him because the varmint had enough juice to run to his hole. We confirmed the kill on the drive out. Checked the hole domed dead varmint just inside. I think the was a 3+ mil wind hold. Used a Vortex Razor 4000 to range the shot.
I 100% agree with Ryan. My 6.5 RAP with a single stage trigger in an Oryx chassis is the most accurate rifle I own. I also have a Tikka T3x Tac A1 in .308, but the Ruger prints .75 moa 5-shot groups consistently and can even get down below .5 with good handloads and a steady day at the range. The value you can get in a rifle like that is incredible.
I wouldn't say the Rimfire version is the "exact same gun" at all. The stock is a flimsy piece of plastic that's molded into the chassis and is barely adjustable enough for a full size adult male. If they had used the same chassis or similar (with obvious changes for the 10/22 mags) but cheapened the stock up on the rimfire version that would have been awesome and would have let end users set them up exactly the same. Instead, they molded the stock into the chassis and it flexes sideways if you look at it funny. The Rimfire version has very little aftermarket support compared to the standard version too if that tells you anything.
I remember the first time i saw the thickly settled signs in Massachusetts when i was driving big trucks up in the northeast. Ive never seen that before anywhere else.
My RPR has been a problem for me because now I’m into the precision world. I knew nothing and it opened my eyes to a whole new sport. Also opened my wallet. Careful getting your hands on the finer things in life. Blessing and a curse.
I so happy I found this video as I own a rpr in .308 and I am currently at war with myself on which vortex scope to get at first I was pretty confident in going with some thing with moa but after watching so many videos of people praising Mrad I’m not so sure any more can any of you fine gents point me in a direction any input would be much appreciated thanks
Took me a year and a half to get one in 6.5 CM. I got the 2nd enhanced model and it cost 1100. Put a Vortex 4 × 16 x 40 viper on it but soon replaced that with the Viper 5 x25 x 50 soon as they came out. Cost 100 more than rifle. Golf balls at 300 were no prob.
I purchased the special edition RPR 6.5 in red for $1600.00. I made a couple of upgrades, a straight grip, a new bolt shroud, and an upgraded trigger, although the original is decent. I find the sock just fine for me. The damn thing shoots light out. I think it is the short action and a great barrel. This is the foundation upon which Ruger will build a moxie competitor. I love it. I do not question why my Ruger tack drives a smaller group than my buddies Accuracy International: AT-X, a $4300 PR. He was incredulous...and somewhat pissed.
I have two RPR’s in 308 and 22lr and are my favorite rifles still. I’ve used all kinds of mags in 308 on it and for the money this rifle is the best bang for your Buck.
Haven't bought one yet, but it is on my bucket list! My wife and I looked at one in 300 mag, I believe, and I just knew one day I'll have one in my collection! I'll have to agree. This factory rifle set the tone for PRS shooters and would-be wannabe Carlos Hathcock known as "White Feather" shooters for extended long-range shooting, whether through competition and/or hunting, albeit heavy for hunting! Think I'd have a version of that folding mag pull stock to go along with it and change out grip, too! So many toys, so little money!😊
I have the RPR in .338 Lapua, and will be competing in my first ELR match in May with it. I'm not sure of the ranges, but i know there is an oddball out to 3k. So we will see how she handles it.
I sold mine to my cousin in 6 Creedmoor. I got a 6.5 Creedmoor from Uintah Precision and he is the guy I shoot with all the time. So I shoot and he has the RPR in 338 Lapua also.
I picked up a precision rimfire in 17hmr awhile ago, and it became one of my favorite rifles I own, not just because of how well it shot, but because my wife really loves to shoot it and it's gotten her into shooting more. Now when we're packing up to head to the range she always double checks to make sure we have it 😂
There’s a bit of gate-keeping in the precision rifle world that throws a bit of shade on the RPR. But, know many non-competitive shooters that shoot the RPR that love it. Personally, I prefer the Hawkeye LRT which uses the same barrels. But, there’s no shame in the RPR.
I'm loving my RPR 338 with a Schmidt & Bender 5x25 scope. Using either Hornady 285 gr or Sierra 300 gr match bullets. Any load I put through it. It prints clover leaf's. .
What the RPR did change was my opinion about the .243. This cartridge is a fantastic long-range cartridge: easily 700 yards, 1000 yard capability with 107 or 115 gr. pills.
I got a gen 1 RPR in 308 when they were first introduced. Heck of a nice rifle. I eventually sold it. I recently got one of the gen 3 RPRs in 338 Lapua.
It was the first precision rifle that an average person could afford and it shot amazingly. Someone who was a really good shot, but couldn't afford the rifle that matched their skills. They shot sub minute at 200 yards, 300 yards, and farther. Other companies started copying it. The RPR was the first and did it better than everyone else who tried to copy it.
My 1st 3 Rifles I got here in Australia were RPR's. 1st 5.56/.223 with a Viper PS2 EBR-2C 5 - 25 x 50 MRAD with over 4k rounds through it still still can get .265" groups at 100 meters, 2 rifle a .22LR RPR with a Diamondback Dead Hold BDC 3 - 12 x 42 MOA "now replaced" with a Diamondback EBR-2c 4 - 16 x 44 MRAD also with over 4k rounds and still can get .3" groups at 50 meters and my 3rd rifle 338LM with the beast Razor gen II EBR-2C 4.5 - 27 x 56 MRAD only has 267 rounds through it, I am limited to 500 meters at my range but want to take it out as far as I can, I love 'em
I also got an RPR in 5.56 Nato....lucky to get it as they were shortly discontinued. Great rifle with an Arken 6-24X50 scope. I also upgraded the bolt handle, pistol grip, bolt shroud, and titanium firing pin thru Anarchy Outdoors. I shoot Black Hills Mark 262 Mod 1-C 77 grain, or IMI 77 grain out to 1000 yards!
Most accurate Rifle I have owned thus far and in 6.5 Creedmoor with originally a Vortex Venom till I craved an illuminated center. Shot cloverleafs in the X ring at 200 yards with handloads or Norma Match in 140gr... Even likes AAC BTHP, which comes cheaper than I can reload....
I've been shooting the RPR for like 2 years now, nothing i could complain about. Except that its like 2000 € over here :> . Qualitiy is quite okay, accuarcy with factory loads is good (Y). looking forward to do my own ammo for it and see how it performs on 300 and 600 meters☄
I have the 2nd Gen RPR in 6.5CM. Absolute tack driver....Heavy boi but accurate. I would recommend for someone just getting into precision rifle one as they hold decent resell value. I didn't sell mine so friends could shoot it.
Can you do a video of the best available straight pull bolt action on different price ranges? Also do you have an opinion on getting a Kali Key to make an 6.5 Creedmoor AR platform into a bolt action vs getting a bolt action on 6.5 Creedmoor?
I bought a Gen 2 when they first came out. I wish I could say all the great thing you claim it to be. It had feed issues that require sending it back to the factory. It is a sub MOA gun but just verily. After hunting in a light rain, a week later found rust on the barrel.
I don't think it was a coincidence that when Ruger cam out with the RPR, scopes, particularly long range scopes became much more affordable with many more manufacturers. Ruger indeed changed the landscape in North America and other places.
Yes, I bought a Savage M10 BA LE in .308 Win in 2011. It came with the Magpul PRS stock but the handguard wasn't anything special and it came with that awful 3 position scope rail. I think it was about $1600 out the door. I still have it and it shoots nice but not great, just a hair under MOA. What was great was everything out of it was 100 fps faster than any other gun. Factory 168 Gold Medal Match was 2800fps from a 24" barrel.
i Just ordered my first rifle and ended up with the rpr rimfire, i was also looking at a Tikka T1X but the cost was about the same seems like i get more for the same price on the RPR.
This is one rifle I want SO bad but, i have a Bergara HMR Pro and it's accurate AF! I love my Bergara. My BCL102(Black Creek Labs) is a VERY CLOSE, if not more accurate that my Bergara.
My Remington LTR in 308 shoots very well… I’ve had it since about 2016.. I shoot hunting ammo and can probly put 3 shots inside a quarter if I take my time
I have a ruger precision rimfire in 22lr. It's a good rifle, but unfortunately it's a totally different design than the regular ruger precision rifles in centerfire. It has a much cheaper plastic stock and not folding mechanism, and the stock is not fully inline for a straight recoil. I will say that I like it, I just wish it was a true 1:1 scale of the centerfire version.
Factory synthetic stock with 150 gr, which turned to be light and not the best for that gun (165 gr worked better.) Right out of the box, Vortex Diamondback Tactical 6-24X50 FFP on it (later changed to a Vortex Venom.)
So, the other guy decides to call my gun garbage, my chosen cartridge garbage, and my optic garbage. He did a digital measured analysis. It was actually .54 inches apart. I made the mistake of shooting my $1000 RPR side by side with my $4000 custom. Using the same factory ammo in both, the RPR printed the smallest group that day.
you so lucky Mr.Over here the .308RPR is 3x more expensive than in the USA.And we have got recently the total gun sales ban.The 2A is a great thing.

I just took my 300 PRC RPR out 2 days ago 2238 yards . Hits on 3’x3’ plate . Couldn’t be happier with my RPR .
Nice! Love my RPR in 6.5 Creed and NightForce NXS 8-32x56 . Consistent 1 MOA accuracy ... but never tried it out past 1500. 🤔 ^v^
My gun store has a 90 day payment plan i got one in 338 its almost payed i can't wait to get it
7mo later tell me more @@paulsouders3489
My RPR 6.5 Cr puts the entire 10 rd mag in the same hole 5/8 inch at 100 yards, factory ammo, I decided I didnt need to put one more penny into a fancy build. RPR got it first time around. LOVE IT! Thanks Ruger
Vortex Viper 5 x 25x50.
I bought a Gen 1 RPR in 6.5 Creedmoor when they first came out. I found it to be an accurate rifle. At 6oo yards I had shot a 1 1/2 inch 5-shot group. Still have it.
Please do more of these ten minute talks about specific firearms. Great content!
Yeah. Who wouldn't mind M24, M12, Mk22, Sako 1, Sako 2, Sako...
We sure wouldn't mind either. Just need to have some time to hunt down mentioned rifles. Stay tuned!
@@VortexNation JP Saur rifles would be mined either. I hear they are amazing for the price
Im shooting half inch with my 300 win Mag, it’s a weatherby vanguard
Got all mine in that Era. And was lucky enough to like Russian stuff
Don't tell that to Remington and Marlin
@@justsnuggle Remington is shit but the new Ruger Marlins should be good
I have the RPR in 6mm Creedmoor. Nuts right? Oh yeah, I paid $799 for it new
Bought mine in 338 Lapua about two years ago. Been shooting all my life. And I'm old. Game changer.
After doing the RPR now would be the perfect time to do an episode on the Ruger No.1
I just bought an r p r. Had no idea what I was buying just like the look of it. Found out from a friend how good they are, So I put a leupold mark 5 7-35 tremor 3 reticle on it and I love it.
I have the 338 lapua rpr. Pretty easy to hit targets out to 1700 with no wind. Hand loads of course. With the 5-25 viper. Pretty sweet gun
About to buy one. Did you upgrade anything on?
So torn between the more common round .300 win mag or a. 338 lapua
@@natecote1971Do you reload? If yes- LAPUA, if not, win mag.
Loaded 338 lapua ammo is $6-7 per round
Loaded 300 win mag is $1.50-3.50 a round for the luxury stuff.
My son recently bought the RPR in 17 hmr and man it shoots and doesn't care what ammo you use shoots inch or just over at 100m reliably. Love it.
The movie American Sniper also had a huge impact on interest in long range shooting
He shot a 3 round clover leaf and said "It's a shooter!"
In hind sight I think he was irritated because a home built AR was printing better than his more expensive bolt action.
How is your RPR? Im looking to getting into precision shooting for comp and want to get a 6.5 rifle to start with. Any Recommendations?
Sounds like a good pairing to us! Happy shooting.
I really enjoy these 10 minute talks.
I have the RPR in 338 Lapua. Topped it with the Viper PST Gen. II. Now don't be hate'n on me, I have had it about a year now and still have not shot it. Got everything to start loading for it but just not had the time!
I've just put a Vortex 2" cantilever onto both of my RPR'S.
What a difference it's made to my rifle.
Cheers lads (from Australia)
More on the trainer aspect of the rimfire version you can change the bolt throw distance to mimic larger size RPR.
My RPR 308 is my favorite rifle to shoot. Putting a LuthAR stock on it was the best upgrade I did, could never get a repeatable sight picture with the factory stock.
You should do the Tikka T3 Tac A1. I swear by mine.
Tikka 💯🏆👍🧍♀️
We approve this message and we will see what we can roll out for you!
6.5 or .308? I have one in .308 and it's a laser. Plus it's the most comfortable rifle I've ever been behind.
Ruger smashed the hell out of all the preconceptions with this platform.

I had a RPR in 6CM. I sold it because I am used to a 90 degree bolt lift and couldn't get used to the RPR bolt lift.
Bought a 6.5 CM RPR a few years ago. Earlier this year I put on a Vortex Razor HD Gen II. 2/3 MOA 5 shot groups with Hornady Factory ELD Match ammo and makes 1000 easy (except for the wind).
I have wanted one of these for a very long time. This really needs to be my next firearm purchase.
What's the scope like im thinking of buying a vortex similar to what you have
I loved the truthful sarcasm/stories when referring to hunting rifles.
My boys have the 22lr and I have the 22 mag. Getting 3 in. Groups at 400 yds with the 22lr. Awesome rifles.
I love my Rugers, I have the rim fire and a River American in an MTD chassis in 6.5 creed the the big boy the RPR in 6.5prs. All three and fantastic shooters I really enjoy them
Not river Ruger
I agree with Jimbo that we need a podcast on bolts and bolt designs!
@@chrism2042 yes! Super extra is amazing for the RPR! Happy shooting
My friends dad has gone out to a mile with his RPR in 6.5cm. 3 shots 3 hits. It looked to be a 36" target.
Solid guns!
That's awesome and one heck of a shot for a .17 🙌🙌🙌
@VortexNation yeah!?
Didn’t Savage come out with the 110 BA about 6 years earlier?
I’ve used all kinds of mags in 308 on it and for the money this rifle is the best bang for your Buck.
can we get yes no is the vortex venom covered for springer air rifle recoil warranty ?
my springer has eaten 3 scopes
He's not wrong with the Ruger predator. Ive had one and stuck it into a LSS MDT.. uh-mazing rifle and setup. I regret selling it 😮💨
I picked up a precision rimfire in 17hmr awhile ago, and it became one of my favorite rifles I own, not just because of how well it shot, but because my wife really loves to shoot it and it's gotten her into shooting more.
Those Hawkeyes look so nice
Middle of the road companies are putting out some really well-performing stuff nowadays, yup. RPR is going to start my dive into bolties
In Maryland the signs announcing speedbumps ahead say "Traffic Calming Ahead."
I'm loving my RPR 338 with a Schmidt & Bender 5x25 scope. Using either Hornady 285 gr or Sierra 300 gr match bullets. Any load I put through it. It prints clover leaf's. .
how his it to go hunting. can it be shoot standing up I wanted to get the ruger precision 7mm 08
What the RPR did change was my opinion about the .243. This cartridge is a fantastic long-range cartridge: easily 700 yards, 1000 yard capability with 107 or 115 gr. pills.
Yes I bought my RPR in .243, when they first hit the market.
I’ve had an RPR in .308 for a hot minute… love it!
I got a gen 1 RPR in 308 when they were first introduced. Heck of a nice rifle. I eventually sold it. I recently got one of the gen 3 RPRs in 338 Lapua.
And how do you like your 338 Lapua Gen 3 RPR?
Great success!
Mine was 6m creed. best groups and most fun I ever had...... I will have another. Wish they would do a lefty
I have this gun in 17HMR. It shoots great even out to 200 meters.
Hey @VortexNation, love the talk on the RPR! Question, what's your thoughts on 224 Valkyrie vs 22 Creedmoor?
RPR 6.5CM, RZR Gen II 4.5-27, One mile at Clinton House, SC.
I have the 338 LM 26." Optic is Strike Eagle 5-25x56, and you said the stock is "PRS?"
I've seen it in videos for a while. Was wondering the story behind the spam cans on the shelf?
I don't think it was a coincidence that when Ruger cam out with the RPR, scopes, particularly long range scopes became much more affordable with many more manufacturers. Ruger indeed changed the landscape in North America and other places.
Best one in a while. Still like this format the best.
The RPR came out in 2015. The Savage 110 BA came out in 2009. The difference was the Savage was $500 more expensive.
If you guys compare ruger pericison rifle with tikka t3x tac a1 then which would be better .. better in accuracy for longe ranges
I got one in 300 win mag I love it.
I’d like that bolt conversation comming
Im not a gun exspert at all, which Rpr are we talking about here? I want to buy it which generation rpr is the best
i Just ordered my first rifle and ended up with the rpr rimfire, i was also looking at a Tikka T1X but the cost was about the same seems like i get more for the same price on the RPR.
This is one rifle I want SO bad but, i have a Bergara HMR Pro and it's accurate AF! I love my Bergara.
My BCL102(Black Creek Labs) is a VERY CLOSE, if not more accurate that my Bergara.
I need some help I can buy a Ruger precision 300 Winchester magnum excellent condition with a vortex 6x18x44 scope what do you think its worth
Which height Vortex scope mounts are on that RPR?
i have the PRC in 6mmCM and 22WMR and love them both
My Remington LTR in 308 shoots very well… I’ve had it since about 2016..
In the rifles defense 22 doesn’t have barely any recoil
2nd part they wanted it to be priced for 22LR market... it does look like a father / son combo...
I have one in 6.5 Creedmoor with a Arken sh4 scope and with handloads it's a 1/2 moa rifle or better!❤
Do a review on the rpr rimfire 22lr!
