  • If you're in the market for a rifle that can do it all, then you need to check out the Bergara HMR! This rifle is versatile and accurate, making it a great choice for any type of hunting or target shooting. Plus, its reasonably priced!
    Welcome back! Glad you are with us and back for another awesome gun! This time is the Bergara B14 Wilderness HMR in 6.5 Creedmoor! It’s accurate, utilitarian and can fill many roles.
    HMR stands for hunting match rifle and it is just that. With a 24 inch barrel and sub MOA accuracy guarantee this rifle is nearly perfect. A touch on the heavy side for a hunting rifle but this rifle is built to accomplish multiple roles.
    This rifle looks as good as it shoots. With the hand painted stock, tungsten gray cerakote, spiral fluted bolt, adjustable stock and Omni direction muzzle brake. This has it all. To round it out, a detachable box mag or bottom metal to accept AICS pattern mags is a welcomed addition.
    During our testing and review, this rifle performed as advertised. It was shot for groups and at long range, even taking it out to one mile equipped with a Vortex Razor optic, it’s a lethal combo. Groups were all well below sub MOA and the stock, trigger and bolt make that a breeze.
    This rifle is one of the best values on the market and if you are looking for a rifle which can hunt the blind or mount but shoot matches for practice, this is it! Let us know what you think and enjoy the review! As always, thank you for checking out Hunt Fish Shoot!

    6.5 Creedmoor is ¢98 per round at it's cheapest right now. I gotta stick with .308/7.62x51 for my bolt gun simply because of price and availability. All these new powerful rounds are great - price and availability are the issue. I bought my first bolt gun this year - definitely changed my view on a survival/scout/recon type setup.

      The 308 and 6.5 creed ammo are almost 20 cent difference. The 6.5 is going to give you far more consistency out past 600 yards… myself id rather pay the extra change for a cartridge that will make hitting targets out to 1k a bit easier and more reliable. But if you dont shoot out that far, the 308 is just fine

      @@Problematicbehavior I currently have a Springfield Armory M1A Scout Squad in .308 and just added a bolt gun in .308. These are the only 308s I have. If I were to start over going with 6.5 would make more FUTURE sense as more guns become chambered in 6.5 and hopefully price of that ammo goes down but I was unfortunately already on the 308 path.

      I would disagree I’d be happy to hike that or a 12-13lb rifle around. If you shoot it better take it and train harder. The weapon is what makes the meat

    Great video, I just saw it today & subscribed to your channel. I picked up a Wilderness HMR in 6.5 Creedmore last year & love it. I was shooting too many rounds through my hunting rifles at steel plates and this rifle fits the deal better, plus, I’m not burning out the barrels on my hunting rifles 😂 One thing I want to correct you on was your comment that the only differences between the standard HMR & Wilderness HMR was only cosmetic, which you listed, but you missed something that was very important to me was barrel length between the two. The standard HMR has a barrel length of 22” and the Wilderness has a barrel length of 24”. As a hand loader (with 2 chronographs 😂), that extra 2” makes a difference at bullet velocity leaving the muzzle, which affects overall bullet drop, drift, etc…I have seen anywhere’s between 30 & 50 fps per inch faster on longer barrel lengths.

    • @mikevieira6373
      @mikevieira6373 Рік тому +1

      I also need to add, the 22” in the standard HMR & 24” in the Wilderness HMR are listed in the Bergara catalog for the 6.5 Creedmore caliber. There are other barrel lengths for other calibers, but overall, it looks like the Standard HMR’s run shorter barrel lengths.

    Walked into my local gun store today just to do my occasional walk around to see what I could see. Had no intention of buying anything, but they had this beauty sitting on the shelf. Id been looking at these rifles for a bit but was never able to find one in the store. They really are a little hard to find. Been told by several FFL's they could order one for me, but its always "we can order it but we dont know when we will get it, which is how it tends to be these days. Well I dont mind ordering things, but Im not one to give up my money and not know when Ill get the product so I never did that. They happened to have one on the shelf today, so I picked it up. Think Im going to pair it with a Tract Toric 4.5-30x56 that is currently just sitting in a box, unless I come across something else I prefer to put on it.

    If you want accurate rifle ammunition you should load your own. While there are but a small handful of factory rifle Ammo which is semi dependable, repeatable and reliable, like Nosler, loading your own so that you can supervise every aspect of cartridge development, build, Bullet selection, proper powder and brass, concentricity testing, primers etc, is the only realistic means by which one can develop match grade ammunition. Once I ditched the rotating presses and went to the arbor press-hand trickling exact powder amounts-I began to get ammunition which I personally knew to be “match grade,”. This includes weighing each bullet and the use of an arbor press with LE Wilson chamber type micrometer seating die. I check concentricity with the Hornady unit. Almost 100% of the time using the methods I’ve outlined you’re never off more than a thou, possibly thou and a half. With factory, I’ve found that Nosler is the most accurate with repeatable results. I also use their reloading bullets, like the LR Accubond. I refuse to be one of those guys at Sportsmans Warehouse desperately hoping they have my fav factory Ammo on hand…

      It is significantly better, but also heavier. By almost two pounds. The ridge stock would be fine for hunting, I owned a standard ridge and it shot very well. Just not stiff and a standard run of the mill sporter style stock. The HMR stock is hard fiberglass with a mini chassis built in, so it it’s stiffer with more features as well.

    Bergara claims “Remington pattern ” with their B14 series rifles. That applies only to the receiver . If you want to make changes, such as a 3rd party bottom metal, you can’t. Everything other than the receiver is proprietary to Bergara! The other source of confusion is “AICS Pattern” magazines. AICS “pattern” magazines is about the design, not the length. One might expect 300 Win Mag in an HMR “match” rifle, to have a match length magazine like the typical AICS 3.850. You would be wrong! The HMR uses Pmags regular AICS pattern Long Action magnum magazine, which has a 3.53” max length. Depending on your intentions with a “Match” rifle, the short magazine could become a very severe handicap. And no. Bergara will not sell you a replacement bottom metal.

    • @HuntFishShootChannel
      @HuntFishShootChannel  Рік тому +2

    Be careful with these videos. A friend of mine each bought this gun in 6.5 PRC after watching everyone hype sub moa groups on UA-cam. I have shot close to 200 rounds with mine and my friend about half that. They will do 3 shots sub MOA roughly 30% of the time with Hornady Match ammo or their ELD-X. Group sizes are very inconsistent and I have seen 2” groups out of mine but usually they are in the 1 1/4” range. All shots off a rock solid base to eliminate human factors as much as possible. It’s very inconsistent and very sensitive to barrel fouling. I’ve been over the gun checking everything and cleaned the paint off of the bedding in the stock. No improvement on either gun. Yes they shoot sub MOA….. occasionally. These are not consistent, repeatable sub MOA guns like UA-cam makes them out to be. I’m going to develop a hand load next to see what I can do before sending it back to Bergara. These videos seem to always be using 6.5 CM. Maybe that’s the ticket to getting consistent group sizes.

    • @HuntFishShootChannel
      @HuntFishShootChannel  Рік тому +1

      Can’t speak for the other calibers and only this sample size of one. However from past experience, I have owned a standard HMR in 6.5 Creedmoor and 300 Win Mag Ridge. All of them have shot below an MOA with ease. Or I should say Hornady Match or Precision Hunter because it’s always available and shoots great. This particular rifle had about 250 rounds through it at the time of the video with no cleaning whatsoever. I’m in the I don’t clean or break in my barrel camp until it’s so dirty the groups open up.
      With any video, viewers have to have the where with all that the gun is a sample size of one or two maybe.

      This guy is really judging the accuracy of a rifle model with a sample of one? This says a lot about his basic knowledge on firearms. And probably on his ability to shoot

      @@ssimossimo576 Yeah one rifle is only just one rifle. In my case there are two identical rifles both shooting the same off of bench rests. If a company advertises a sub-MOA guarantee, then they should all be capable of that with same ammo.

      @@LSC2001 that's totally wrong. You are confirming me thst you have no idea how accuracy guarantees work on rifles. Bergaras are usually very accurate: i have two, for what it matters, and they both shoots about 0.2-0.4 MOA with factory ammo they like. Not with any factory ammo and not with the same ones. Every rifle favours one or more cartridge and can shoot many other ones less accurately. Bergara says which ammo they use for testing accuracy for every caliber in the us anyway. If the rifle is not up to the standards when they test it affer you send it back, they will fix it

      @@ssimossimo576 two rifles I have seen from Bergara will not shoot sub moa consistently with the 147 ELD - M that they have used for their own testing. If we need to send two rifles back because they didn’t meet the guarantee then that’s pretty disappointing.

    10:09 You think those are good groups? A 3/4 MOA and 1.3 MOAish 3-shot group? Lol. You definitely won't be winning any matches with that turd of a rifle. That's the performance I'd expect from a $350 rifle from Walmart.

      with random factory loads. You could handload and tighten the groups up and then throw it in a vise like lead sled too. Thanks for your input Bob Lee 👍

      @@HuntFishShootChannel Sure you could...I have a B-14 HMR in 308. It's easily the worst shooting rifle I've ever owned. The best it shoots is ~1 MOA for 5-shot groups with hand loads. Unfortunately that meets Bergarbage's 1 MOA 3-shot guarantee so they won't do anything to it. Also, Bergara specifically says that if you shoot hand loads your warranty is void.
      Anyway, I have a Tikka CTR that average

    If you shoot enough, you WILL experience a pierced primer. You will then realize the importance of "shooting/safety" glasses.
    Good review.
