Even the rail in the pile has a fall feeling to it now due to the weaker sunlight. That last group of cars on the inbound may be the group from Iowa with a fewl reshuffled. That inbound was 32 cars so that does put it on the large side. Outbound 2 separate trains the 1st only 9 cars the 2nd had 15. It is amazing how a quarryp can stay in operation so long such as Gravel Lake. They were blessed to have such a steady supply as they were building the line and then shipping it all the way to Chicago which must have been interesting considering the size of the cars. Today's train has an Algoma Central car plus those ICG cars with the spray painted initials and numbers. We're starting to get the first wave of fall colors but also we have to be careful as things are getting Mighty dry due to lack of rain with none in sight for almost a week yet. That last tape from the Clint Jones collection certainly spelled out winter and just what it was like to try to keep this line open specifically north of Houghton Hancock. Well let's not rush that season so we'll just stick with the beauty of autumn. Thanks for the adventure
She'll be comin round the mountain when she comes. And the trees will be wearin Red Pajamas when she comes. Hi Nancy. Well, the Trees are going up in blazing colors. And the Robins came thru last week. Every fall the Robins come down from the North heading to Wintering grounds in the South. Fall migration is vastly different from the Spring migration when they are noisy and visible fighting over territory. In the fall they are quiet, and you have to really know their subtle call to hear it. Then if you look you may catch a glimpse of them as they travel close to the ground foraging for food as they go. Unlike the Black Birds who fly in flocks up in the sky where they are very visible. Well, I watched a video of the Curmudge Airbnb Inn Keeper making an Alaska Railroad Flag Stop out in the middle of nowhere, for a ride into Talkeetna for a shopping trip and back. That is a very neat set up. And the colors of the train contrasts greatly with all the leaves Brown and down on the ground. Cherish the colors and the wxr Nanc, Winter's almost here. Thank you for the pix. ben/ michigan
CanadiannNational's L'Anse Local looked impressive as it can into the L'Anse railyard in L'Anse, Michigan, Nancy! I enjoyed the trip back south over the bridge over the Peshekee River and then past Gravel Lake. The red coloring of the turning leaves looks beautiful, and some gold-colored leaves are also emerging. (Posted 8 October 2024 at 0040 CDT.)
I am imagining that I can feel the sharp gusts of wind as I watch and enjoy your video as I sit in my easy chair ðown in Port Huron. Have not been able view your videos for a while due to family circumstances. I truly love your productions. Will the troll, down below in Port Huron watching the St Clair river as it slides lazily down toward Lake St. Clair.
Nancy, At the start of this great video there are mostly buried tracks just to the right of the camera. Where did those go? I always appreciate your efforts to bring us these videos! Rick.
I don't think I've ever been to Gravel Lake. Good job with the videos. Thanks for sharing.

Lots of white caps on the lake. Where does the CN start from? Thanks Nancy
Home base is Euclid yard in Ishpeming but they pick up the loads they bring to L'Anse from Partridge yard by the Tilden Mine in Palmer.
