You can find a whole bunch of vintage candy and other sweets, pop (as us in the Midwest call it) and snacks at Cracker Barrel. That is my go to place for all things old school. I love going back in time and looking at all the fun items they carry, as well as their delicious food they serve in the restaurant. 🙂
New subscriber here - I am SO glad I found your channel! There is something so comforting about these candy tasting videos and your personalities. Thank you for keeping me company during a crappy time 😊❤️
Hey Sarah! Thank you for subscribing 🥰 we hope you love our new videos to come. So happy to hear you enjoy watching our videos and they give you some comfort! Happier times are coming 🥰♥️
I remember being a young child in the 1960s, eating Slo pokes, black cows, and sugar babies. Also in the 60s, my grandmother brought home some boxes of snack food: all new products ~ Pizza Whirls, Daisies (popcorn flavor?), Whistles (cheese), and Bugles. Bugles are the only flavor that survives. About that time we got Pop tarts, too.
Another good box of goodies. I grew up in the 60's enjoying many of those treats and some of my siblings enjoyed them in the 50's. A lot of corner store favorites are here.
You two are great! I love watching you try to pronounce things and you know, a lot of Americans can’t pronounce some of this stuff either! Love it! We need some stress relief.
I love that y’all always remember who sent you what in the past. Really shows that you care. Can’t wait for your form submission for boxes. I think I have a good idea!
The bugles brought me back to some great memories ... my Great Aunt would always serve them with French onion dip at all our family gathers growing up. Haven’t seen these in years!
I'm always surprised how much I love watching the taste test videos along with the grocery hauls on other channels. Love both of your pleasant happy personalities.
I have been a long time viewer but never comment. I have watched since your first candy tasting video before subscribers started sending them. I love watching you guys and snacking with you. I am so amazed at how you always remember who sent you which boxes. It is incredible that you care so much about your subscribers! I was dying when you guys were reading those weird cookie sticks! Thanks for making these videos! ❤️
Hey Jesse! Thank you for taking the time to comment today! So nice to hear from you. Thank you for sticking around, so pleased you enjoy our videos! 💗 Haha those cookies were making us laugh 😆
There's us weirdos out there that love that hot cinnamon lol Fireballs were always my favorite to get at Halloween. Disneyland ( California Adventure) actually has a churro covered in that hot cinnamon.
Wow, all this packaging 🥺. I forgot about so much of this and immediately remember so much of it! The pirouette cookies, the chocolate chip teddy cookies!
Me amd my mom and dad were sitting in a golden corral when I was a kid, and I had a bowl of olives in front of me, and some man said that I was gonna turn into an olive if I didn't stop eating them lol. Thats all I wanted to eat lol
As a teen smoking a cigarette and putting tiger balm on your eye lids was as close to high I was getting...lol. The Clove gum was a must as a teen smoker for school or getting around your parents.
I'm a preschool teacher and every year at thanksgiving we make a cornucopia snack with bugles and welch's fruit snacks, those are the ones that are fruit shaped. It's always a big hit.
Oh my word, the gum segment... 😂😂😂 I haven’t had clove gum in 25 years! There were so many good pieces to reminisce over. Poor Alex getting ill from the spicy gums. We really do love cinnamon and spicy candy, don’t we? 🤷🏻♀️ Thanks again for this content. In light of such heavy times in the US, it’s so nice to have some laughter. 💖
Haha 😂😂 you’ll have to get some for memories! Yeah you guys seem to love cinnamon so much in the US. In desserts too! So pleased you enjoyed watching Rebecca 💗

What a cool video brought back some good memories of the 80’s the look on both you and Alex’s faces when you put the cinnamon candies and gum in your mouth... I love cinnamon flavored things. And I believe that was the first time I saw Alex take something out of his mouth because he hated the taste. Stay safe and have a great week💕💕🦋🦋
I'm one of those people that LOVES all the cinnamon and hot candies. Especially as a kid, big red gum was my favorite gum lol. I still love fireballs, red hots, hot tamales etc.
Alex and Katie make sure you rate all the food you eat because;sometimes u guys fogert to rate the food, candy or snack that you eaten given by a subscriber. No worries duo just remember you guys love u.💓guys💗👌💕💖💓😍👌💗💕💖😄😋😝💟😂😄☺😇😋👅👅👅👅👅😎

It is funny to look back and see what was on offer, we can get so much more now, can't we! The options are endless now! Ahh you're too kind, thank you Kate 💗
I think a lot of people forget to subscribe as you always pop up on recommendations! I know its nearly the weekend when I see a "trying" video!! You can't beat Pirouline style wafers with a good Italian coffee!
Ohhhh my God..you brought back so many memories. I'm originally from Michigan and those were all my favs. Fire balls were great especially when we challenged each other to who can keep it in their mouths the longest 😅. Most of the time we would hold them and just lick them until you got to the white part which was sweet. Thanks for bringing back great childhood memories 🤗.
That was a fun trip down memory lane, haven't had some of those snacks in years! The big league chew was my favourite as a kid, made me feel like a real baseball player! haha
I grew up in the 80's and 90's in the US, so subscribed in honor of this box! We have Japanese product stores, and lots of regular stores have some Japanese products.
Yes, @@ThisWithThem , I have been watching a lot of the tasting videos. Really fun . My brother is dating an English girl who reminds me a bit of Kate. I tend to think European, including English, chocolate is better than US chocolate. Anyway, keep it up!!
Here's a treat idea to use with the Bugles. Put a little peanut butter inside the bugle and then dip in melted milk chocolate. Let it set and then give it a go. Kate, I know peanut butter is not your favorite, but you dont need much...just a little smear and it gives the perfect bit of sweet and salty...yall might like it! Let me know if you try! Blessings from North Carolina in USA!!!
I really enjoy your videos...Thanks for the break down of where to find certain things...by the way I tried a fluffernutter sandwich and I really enjoyed it. Stay safe and have a blessed day.
Some of those - Jujubes, Slow Poke, Dots, York Peppermint Patties, Burnt Peanuts - are actually a lot older than 80s-90s. I know they were around in the 60s when I was a kid, and are probably much older.
The Jujubes take me back to the 70s in my childhood. Loved them! Sinless are also reminiscent of my childhood as well. My son loved them when he was little (in the early 2000s). York peppermint patties are an all time favorite. Sloepokes used to come on a stick. All of them have staying power generation to generation. Keep up the good videos. You both make me smile.
Love that!! I absolutely loved those mini York patties 😋 so delicious. Oh cool. That’s a good idea for them to make Sloepokes into a bar then! So awesome that some of these items are still going strong today 😀 thank you Linda! Glad we can make you smile!!
Julie Gelmich I’m Canadian too but I’ve never heard Jujubes pronounced the way they said it. I’ve always heard it joo-joo-beez.....maybe it depends on the province.
We have a little mom and pop candy shop in the small town I live in. They have vintage and newer unique candies and I just brought my niece there for her bday. She was so overwhelmed wanting to try all the candy from before her time lol So we are going to be spending the summer taste testing 😁 *I found those vintage gums as a kid and loved them all lol My mom couldn't stand when I'd chew the clove. I love candy sticks! Just found a cherry cola flavor when I was with my niece and it was so good and in point with the flavor.
Lol I was thinking the same thing when I seen him! My husband let his bush out over the winter but his was quite salt an pepper looking! With a lot of the salt! 😂 He trimmed it up when it got to grey! Least Alex is all one color still! Young enough not to worry about it!
@@jcbogdon my man says his has BLOND hairs in it. 😄 His is red so it does blend nicely. We can't do anything about our age so might as well enjoy our BLOND hairs!
Awk! Clove gum is my favorite....just behind Beeman's. Those, along with Black Jack, originated in the late 1800s and my own grandmother used to love all 3.
3 of your 4 retro gums, Beeman's, Black Jack, and Clove have all been around for over 100 years. Beeman's invented by doctor in Ohio in 1898, is a Pepsin flavored gum. the OG formula did have pepsin powder in it and was promoted as to help with a digestion. Black Jack was created in 1884 and Clove in 1914. These are some of the original flavors of chewing gum and are still popular today. Personally i like the Beeman's lol.
I'm one of those people who love atomic fire balls. I usually eat about ten in a row. I'll even put two in my mouth at once so I can have one on each side. I do love cinnamon. I even buy the cinnamon flavored Listerene mouth wash. It' so refreshing. I remember having a Christmas drink called wassal(spelling?) that had cinnamon and fresh cloves in it. The clove was like a small piece of bark that just added some sort of flavoring but you didn't eat it because it was hard like a piece if wood. And if I'm not mistaken, I believe actors smoke clove cigarettes instead of actual tobacco. It's not addictive like cigarettes with nicotine. Great video as always and good luck reaching 300,000 subscribers. That is tremendous. Not to mention how many people watch who aren't subscribed. It's probably like 600,000 or more. Have a good and safe week. P.S. I'm not eating much chocolate these days as the temperature and humidity are so high but that doesn't stop me from eating hard sweet candy( like fire balls). But I do eat a lot of fresh fruit in the summer. I just bought a huge 🍉 at Whole Foods today and I'm having a huge slice now while watching your channel. Yummy!! Later.
No way.. 10!!! Is your mouth not sore after or can you totally hack it? Do they not seem very strong to you? Oh wow, one each side 🔥My mouth would be burning haha. Thank you so much Brandon we can't believe how close we are! It's such a big milestone! Hope you have a great week too! Mmm I love watermelon, enjoy that!! Good shout with the hard candies, they're great for the summer!
You two were really funny frisky today! Love your banter and relationship! My grandmother always had Beemans which had labeled Pepsin flavor, whatever that is. I never caught her chewing, she believed a real lady did not chew gum in public, thanks for the memory!
Ohhhh I'm so excited for you guys to get to 300K subs!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 😃 My Aunt always chewed that clove gum when I was a kid and I just remember thinking it was gum for old people 😂.
you guys were cracking me up so much!! my dentist uses jujubes to remove temporary crowns. also, I love clove chewing gum. makes your mouth feel clean. when I eat french burnt peanuts, my heart starts racing and I start sweating. can't eat those. lots of good candy and snacks in this box!
So much nostalgia watching this video, you guys tried some of the standouts from the 90s! I really want to go online and buy done old-school candy I used to love, especially sixlets! 💕
Yaay love to hear this 🥰 you should. Will bring back so many memories when you try them again! 💗 I’ve just seen a comment saying Dollar tree sells a lot of these treats
This With Them there is a website called OldTimeCandy.com and I sometimes buy candy there! I wish you guys would have experienced the candy Bottlecaps, they’re my all time favorite old time candy
I have to smell new things before I try it also! Doesn't matter if its candy or soup, drinks or desert! Gotta know what's coming!! (Again in my British accent)! This box was fun. Never seen a slow poke before. Kate!!!! Your face after the green apple, so funny!! I do those goofy things and then think I need to act my age!!! (52) I love the fireball!!! They do get quite hot. Big Red!!! Chewed a lot of that as a kid, loved it!
Haha yes that’s it!!! I’m glad I’m not the only one then 😂😂 love that- gotta know what’s coming! 😂😂 the slow poke was delicious 😋 haha it really caught me off guard 😆 age is just a number you stay goofy 🥰
I love all the cinnamon candies here in the US. Atomic fireballs are mini jawbreakers, Hot Tamales are chewy and finally Red Hots - tiny candies. I prefer them to chocolates!
I absolutely adore atomic fireballs. I used to get them by the brown paper bag full and they were a nickel. You have to love cinnamon to love them but they are my childhood 💞☺️
@@ThisWithThem we cant wait to try everything this is going to be a special treat for me and my son because my grandmother Patricia was born in England then moved to Canada when she was a little girl and told me great stories about her home in Sussex and the sweet treats from her childhood. It's been 17years since she passed away and this is one way for me to share to my son Vincent apart of her life since I was 8 months pregnant with him when she died. This is going to be a great memory for us and I will be doing a book scrap of the treats and pictures of opening the box up lol. Ps thank you for your time and laughter and fun and a chance to have a taste of England treats.
Oh my...love your videos...but today the first thing you tried were Bugles...when I was pregnant for my second child...(which his name is Alexander)...I know Alex what a good name...lol...I had ate 2 boxes..(that is how ours came in the 90's)...and can barely look at them today 28 years later.. in the the groceries stores...lol..and your face Kate...priceless trying the apple soda... Have a good day..
Hey Marilyn! SO glad you enjoy watching! Haha great name choice! Oh no!! I know that feeling when you now can't look at a treat you once loved!! Maybe one day you can eat them again! Haha it really took me by surprise 😂
Black Jack was a gum that was around when I was a kid, in the 1960s, but it disappeared for a while. Later, when I was an adult, there was a campaign to bring back some of those old products, and Black Jack was the one that they brought back, successfully. Black licorice has always been one of my favorite flavors. It's one of those flavors that you either really like or really dislike. In my experience, it's very rare for people to be totally neutral about it.
No way! That’s so awesome there was a campaign to bring it back!! 😀 yes that’s so true. I think I’m one of the rare ones though as I really enjoyed the black jack but I find some of the other black liquorice far too strong!
Sixlets bring back so many great memories. Every Saturday my mum, grammy, & I would go shopping & my Grammy used to buy me sixlets. She's been gone now 33yrs & it still makes me smile when I find sixlets

Yes, @@ThisWithThem , I have been watching a lot of the tasting videos. Really fun . My brother is dating an English girl who reminds me a bit of Kate. I tend to think European, including English, chocolate is better than US chocolate. Anyway, keep it up!!
They missed one brand of the classic gums Clark's Teaberry.
omg BUGLES!Must try the caramel ones tooo!!! I always loved Teddy Grahams
26:43
My mom used to get a Slow poke when she went to a movie as a teenager , and she's 78!
Love this!!! Does she still get it now?
If something was really sour, my dad used to say “it would pull your teeth down your throat” 😂
Oh wow! Alex would absolutely love this! I am getting better at liking Peanut Butter!!
@@ThisWithThem give it a whirl! And if not peanut butter, you could also just dip them the chocolate or try with nutella. Lots of possibilities! 😀
If you suck on the Gobstoppers, they change color.
Oh yes!! I remember that now
I loved the lollys with the bubble gum in the middle. Think the last one I had was about 20 years ago.
I miss when you guys would "cheers" your snacks before eating them.
They cheers’d the fireballs 😊
I really enjoy your videos...Thanks for the break down of where to find certain things...by the way I tried a fluffernutter sandwich and I really enjoyed it. Stay safe and have a blessed day.
It’s “ju-ju-bees” and reisen is pronounced “reason” here....
Thanks Kimberly!
Those "Riesen" are actually German and Riesen means giants
Some of those - Jujubes, Slow Poke, Dots, York Peppermint Patties, Burnt Peanuts - are actually a lot older than 80s-90s. I know they were around in the 60s when I was a kid, and are probably much older.
Oh awesome!!
The green box of candy your eating is Jujubes hence the bee on the box
Ahhh that does make sense 🙈 thank you
The Jujubes take me back to the 70s in my childhood.
Jujubes is pronounced "joo·
joo·beez."
Riesen is pronounced "re-zen"
Thank you Clay! 😀
Yep Reisen are/were sold in UK - they really popular in early 00's
I'm Canadian & we pronounce jujubes the same way they did
Julie Gelmich I’m Canadian too but I’ve never heard Jujubes pronounced the way they said it. I’ve always heard it joo-joo-beez.....maybe it depends on the province.
@@Jadyn_Sage an episode on Food Network Canada featured an episode on candy making and the company called them joo-joo-beez.
This video brought back good memories since I was born in 1990 and grew up in the 90’s. I am a 90’s kid!
Ahh yaay! Love this 😀
Ju ju bees take out your fillings.
My teeth hurt just watching them eat those lol
We have a little mom and pop candy shop in the small town I live in. They have vintage and newer unique candies and I just brought my niece there for her bday. She was so overwhelmed wanting to try all the candy from before her time lol
So we are going to be spending the summer taste testing 😁
*I found those vintage gums as a kid and loved them all lol
My mom couldn't stand when I'd chew the clove.
I love candy sticks! Just found a cherry cola flavor when I was with my niece and it was so good and in point with the flavor.
That’s so awesome!! Literally the saying kid in a candy shop 😆 bet she loved it! What a great aunty 🥰 Mmm cherry cola
I don’t think there’s many people in America that actually enjoy DOTS hahah
I think that you should save the atomic fire balls for WTF
Good luck kids. You will reach it, because you are genuine. SNACK ON!
Thank you so much Denise 🥰
Hi kate and Alex
Is Alex's beard getting bigger and bigger with every video?
It is! I decided to grow it while we're in lockdown 😂 we've been in lock down longer than I expected!! 😂😂😂
I agree with Alex's beard.
@@ThisWithThem @Alex, it's looking very nice. A good beard is something I always support and enjoy! ❤
Awk! Clove gum is my favorite....just behind Beeman's. Those, along with Black Jack, originated in the late 1800s and my own grandmother used to love all 3.
I could see some people absolutely loving them. Such unique flavours
Oh wow! That’s amazing how long ago they started! Thank you for sharing that information with us. Very interesting to read
I love clove gum.. One of my favorites growing up
🥰
Oh, wow! Some of that candy and gum took me back to my childhood!
Love that!
Sweet candy... And fun... That is beautiful!!
Yaay 😘
Haha the sugar got to us a bit i think 😂Thank you! No way! She sounds wonderful, glad we could bring back some meories
Yeah we get riesens here in the UK, can find them in most shops. They come in a long bar. I love them. X
Thanks Jen!
Sainsbury’s have them!
Yaay! Glad we could make you laugh 😂No way 😂 That's amazing. Oh wow, definitely stay away from them then 😂
So much nostalgia watching this video, you guys tried some of the standouts from the 90s! I really want to go online and buy done old-school candy I used to love, especially sixlets! 💕
Yaay love to hear this 🥰 you should. Will bring back so many memories when you try them again! 💗 I’ve just seen a comment saying Dollar tree sells a lot of these treats
This With Them there is a website called
OldTimeCandy.com and I sometimes buy candy there!
I’m late on this but when I was a kid I use to freeze the chocolate Pirouline sticks and they were 100x better. You guys should really try it
The clove and the Beemans Is the best. I love them
I love all the cinnamon candies here in the US. Atomic fireballs are mini jawbreakers, Hot Tamales are chewy and finally Red Hots - tiny candies. I prefer them to chocolates!
No way!! I knew someone would enjoy them. That’s awesome. Suppose it’s just a flavour we are not used to. We don’t get much of that in the UK at all!
Fireballs are one of my dad's favourite candies! To be fair his favourite drink is hot apple juice with TONS of cinnamon, he loooves cinammon lol
No way!! I've never heard of that!!
@@ThisWithThem it's honestly so good!
Hahahahaha I definitely sang along to the cheer from "bring it on"!!! Also I wanna see you do his makeup 🙋♀️🙋♀️🙋♀️
I love to freeze the York Peppermint Patties. Delicious on a hot day!
YUM good shout
I absolutely adore atomic fireballs. I used to get them by the brown paper bag full and they were a nickel. You have to love cinnamon to love them but they are my childhood 💞☺️
I absolutely love the flavor of clove! Candy or gum it’s one of my favorites! You must have to grow up with that!
Good day from canada to you. Me and my son love watching you both plus we can't wait for our treat box we ordered from you
Good day to you too 🥰 ahh love that! So nice you watch us together. We hope you love your box when it arrives 😀 enjoy trying everything
OMG, you both had me rolling with laughter...… I so enjoyed watching your reactions while you tried each of the items.
Haha love hearing this!! Glad we could make you laugh 😂
Atomic fire balls are my favorite! Also Hot tamales. I love clove & big red gum too.
Im excited for this one! Thats the candy i grew up on as well!!
Yay hope you enjoyed watching Nicole ☺️
You guys are adorable and so much fun to watch! 🤗
Thank you Bella! 💗
You guys deserve to get to 10 million 😇
Absolutely love watching you two! Been binge watching every night ❤️
Thank you so much!! 💗
