    I think it's funny that pickled herring is presented as snacks. It's more like lunch or dinner food that you have with potatoes, especially around Christmas or Midsummer.
    No Swede would be like "I bought some snacks!" and bring out a jar of herring!
    Same thing with Kalles Kaviar. We don't consider crisp bread with Kalles to be snacks, it's just breakfast food.

    • @EverythingAndNothing08

      I thought that was weird too. I'm from Denmark and crispbread is either something you eat for breakfast or maybe with coffee in the afternoon. I assume the Swedes don't live off of crispbread for every meal. 😂

    As a Swede, I feel like I have to clarify some of the brands. 😅
    Ahlgrens Bilar Original are pink, white & green and the original Kex Choklad is made with milk chocolate; the ones they tried in this video are new flavours that's been added in recent years.🙂
    On crisp bread (Knäckebröd), you usually spread some form of butter on it before adding something else; otherwise it gets very dry. 😆

    Sadly the "kex choklad" they had is not the classic Swedish people had since 1938. I've actually never tried the vegan version before. Funny enough, the original "kex choklad" is covered by similar milk chocolate as the Marabou they tried earlier, which one of them said she preferred more than the dark vegan chocolate. I'm glad they liked the rye crispbread, a lot of Swedish people practically grew up on that. 👌

    Common missconception even in Sweden but Blåbär cannot be translated to blueberry in the US. The proper translation would be billberries or european blueberries. They are different species of berries and have quite different flavours. Billberries are smaller, more sour, more herbal and intense than a blueberry.

    • @swedishmetalbear
      @swedishmetalbear 7 місяців тому +1

      @@eidodk No.. They are separate species. The bushes grow very different. And the inside of the berry itself is different. American blueberry. (Blueberry) is only blue in the skin. The bilberry is blue throughout the berry.. Skin and flesh.. and has a much stronger earthy taste. The problem we have is the language translations. As the bilberry is called blueberry in the Swedish language and most other European languages about for that matter. When settlers from different parts of Europe came to the US they started calling the version of the blueberry in the American woods the same name.. British English didn't have the name blueberry prior as their name for European blueberries are bilberries.. So they snapped that up as the name for the American Blueberry when it was cultivated by the Victorians.

And you will chew them, to get to the salmiak (ammonium chloride) powder mixed with chili pepper in the middle. It's just so good!
    There are just a few countries in the world that have salt licorice candy. They are: Finland, Sweden, Denmark and the Netherlands. There are some variations though. Finland is more into Salmiak than the others. And in Finland they also have licorice with tar. In Denmark they typically combine licorice with various fillings, like mint.
