    Just sharing a fun fact. The IJN Akagi was originally designed as the second Amagi class battlecruiser along with her lead sister Amagi and their two other sisters Atago and Takao. The Amagi class battlecruiser was the planned successor of the preceding Kongo class battlecruisers. Takao was initially to have been named Ashitaka. Thanks to the Washington Naval Treaty, Amagi and Akagi were on the verge of being scrapped until a proposal to convert them into aircraft carriers under the displacement limit of 27,000 tons was made and approved. Due to the great kanto earthquake during 1923, Amagi's heavily damaged hull was scrapped and Atago along with Takao were cancelled. Source: Wikipedia.

    I hope this doesn't came across the wrong way because this is an EPIC built. I couldn't even dream of building something this good. The one thing though that jumped out at me right away was the aircraft props. They are soooo thick and out of scale. I'm astonished that there isn't and photoetch for the propellers. Again to be clear this critique is nothing against the builder but toward the manufacturer/ aftermarket people

    VERY COOL!!!!👍👍👍😁
    That use of photo-etch (PE) is Super, that flight deck netting needed to go, but I would have sanded it down.......But just cutting it out would do, since you are covering it with the wood flight deck....EXCELLENT!
    THANKS for showing us how You place the 'wood deck' "sticker", I always wondered how to place that down....for future ship models!!
    Your paint job is "Out-of-this-World!!", VERY Well done, Great masking from the white lines to the Japanese flag......and Yes, Don't use 'Post-It' paper for masking....done that also, but Good recovery, overall!!!
    I was going to ask you about your planes and boats, I used PE for both of those...did you take a look at that option, just asking because I see you don't have Any Fear in doing PE! I Was surprised that the girders weren't photo-etch, (drilling out holes) that must have been surprising.
    I think that Your Akagi, and my Kaga should "get together", check it out.... ua-cam.com/video/HB-vtyKoyxk/v-deo.html

    Can I use clay insted of putty?In India modelling putty is very expensive.

    • @KumaModels
      @KumaModels  3 роки тому +2

      I think it depends on what you will be using the clay for. If you’re gonna use the clay to fuse stuff together it may eventually break in the future. If you’re gonna use clay for small accessories like sand bags then I think you’re good. Just make sure to let the clay dry solid.

    Hi! I asked you before about the wash,but i found the enamel thinner to be quite aggressive, so i got best results with white spirit when removed excess
    You said you diluted it,what ratio ? I struggle to find the balance, in my case, how is it to dilute it with white spirit?:)

    • @KumaModels

      I diluted it roughly 50:50 mixture. I'm not familiar with white spirit so I can't really say.

    A great build,have this one myself but from hasegawa,akagi truely is a beauty,though I think Kaga looks just a little bit better.
    Only negative point I see in you built is.your choice of planes,from what I could see you seem to have some B6N tenzan torpedo planes on the flight deck. Akagi never carried these into battle since they werent ready until after akagi had been sunk

      Hi! I used nippers to remove the parts from the sprue, then a hobby knife to remove any nubs from the part. Then I have Tamiya Tweezers for handling the small parts. The airbrush I was using here was the Tamiya SprayWorks Basic Air Compressor set. The sticky green gum is Faber-Castelle's Tack it.
