Well, with all due respect.. (really:) , why even comment on such ? You're a really gorgeous woman , by happenstance ...some of us don't necessarily care whatever anyone else thinks , just want to naturally highlight/tone/"bring out" our best) favourite features!
I have long hair and wear big curls and waves all the time. It's my signature look and I get compliments every day. Age how you want. Wear your hair and makeup how you want. Not all beauty advice is the best for everyone. The older I get, the less I care about what others think.
I agree 100% . If I have something i really like a dress, shoes or hair style and feel good in them I could care less what other think. and the older i get, the least i care
Your part should compliment your face, not everyone can do a middle part, not everyone has the symmetry or bones for it. I think it's less trend or "dated" than simply working with what you have...maybe that dates me.
I agree and that's why I tend not to go along with these fashion/hair gurus. Could you imagine someone with a large forehead wearing a part down the middle of their hair?
I think it's funny that a middle part, mom jeans, and the music I grew up with are all things that are back. Alanis Morissette would probably ask "Isn't it ironic?" ;)
My life is easy, I just wear what I want and do my makeup/hair how I want, and don't pay attention to trends or give a hoot about my age. Aging is beautiful.
Yes! I'm at the point (48 yo) I don't want to have to try to look younger anymore. I need to learn to love the age I am and how I look now. If I look "dated" by society's standards, oh well.
Age IS beautiful! I still think one should do it gracefully. For that I think we do need some guidance. To stay up to date but still feel like you is also a possibility!
@@Ellebangs why do we have to be 'graceful'? At what age can 🙏🙏 we stop caring what other people think of our appearance? Its so tiring and expensive to keep up these days😔
I get really tired of 20yr olds trying to tell 50yr olds what to do in order to stay trendy. When you get older your hair starts to thin so not all of us can do a middle part. Also, yes we know trying to grow out your gray hair sucks but you have to go through that pain of the roots to get it done. Telling us we look old doing it is just insulting. Please do another video on this when your 50.
Amen. I usually love her videos but this one made me feel bad…then I read your comment and realized why. My hair is aging and I can’t get away with what I could when I was younger!
youre right,in myke. fifties i wear my hair like i want,i dont need to be trendy anymore,im my own trend, stop to say woman what she should look like.Im not in my age for this bullshit anymore, graceful? No I want to look like who i am now,53,strongminded,full of experience.not loveley in the typical way. When can a woman look like her age???Anytime she wants!
I also think an off center part might be ok however not many people are symmetrical enough to pull off an exact center part - and unfortunately as you get older, you get less symmetrical
I didn’t know you get less symmetrical With age!!! Only that it is a signal of health. I’ve been having intermittent asymmetrical facial swelling for years. It is v upsetting. Deep side part for sure helps.
@@bobbijonestarot5751 It's true. For instance, our lips may have looked pretty symmetrical in our younger years but will change over time due to expressions, sagging, etc. I used to have pretty perfectly shaped lips and even smile but now one side is slightly different than the other and my smile is not as symmetrical. I also have one eye that I just noticed is sagging differently than the other. Now I'm finding all of this in a 20x mirror so it's probably not noticed by others as much, but I know more changes will come as I age -- It is what it is, unless you opt for surgery, which I am too scared will render me worse than if I would just leave mother nature to do her thing!
I agree with you ladies. My face is not symmetrical, both due to age and a thyroid condition. I do however get away with a slight side part, which in my opinion looks fresher and younger than a deep one. I part it approx by the inner corner of my eye. Give it a try and see what you think.
Increased age can increase foreheads and thinning. Side parts circumvent needing bangs to camouflage. Also a center part elongates the face, so if maturation is causing drooping center parting is probably not the move. Having a signature look is always a toss up with being current IMO. No right or wrong.
I agree. Also, in my case. I prefer to have a side part to balance some asymmetrical features like one eye slightly lower than the other or one cheekbone lower than the other. Some people prefer not to have anything "done" to their face but would rather use makeup and hair to create balance and symmetry.
True, my face has always been relatively long. I can't wear a middle part. A middle part ages me, in my opinion. I had one almost thirsty years ago, when I was a teenager and even then, looking on old photos, it wasn't a good look for me.
To be honest, I get very tired of hair trends and I think following them is what makes people look dated. There was that time everyone had the caramel highlights, the wavy lob with the straight ends, then the super long waved extensions, etc. It’s as though one generation’s style is chosen to be “It” and everyone else is considered out of step. It would be great to hear about styles for different hair types and face shapes, low vs high maintenance and so on without reference to trends. (But maybe I’m the only one…)
You are not the only one! I’m sick of certain trends telling us that we are old if we do or don’t do something, instead of just liking what we like. Why do we all have to do the same thing? Like the middle part for example, it clearly doesn’t look good on everyone. Can people just let their insecurities go and realize it’s ok to not follow every single trend and look exactly the same as everyone else? It’s gonna change as soon as it becomes popular anyway.
Yes, I see this especially in the USA, long, normally blond died hair with curler made waves, abundant make up and fake long nails: that is the american female uniform.
@@klimtkahlo I’m an American female and I think that’s only the “norm” for a specific age group that is over-represented on social media. It’s not what most people look like in everyday life.
No, actually I have much more volume with my side part, I hate how my hair falls with a center part, volume on one side and completely flat on the other, a center part is a no no for me
How about we all just do what we want, what we like, and what makes us feel good. There are NO rules, and if someone doesn't like it, then that's on them. Live your life!
Who cares, I wear my hair straight below shoulder length, I can wear it up or down I could care less what people think, it looks good. I’m 70 and aging is beautiful
I remember an interview of Katharine Houghton, the niece of the great actress Katharine Hepburn, said she once visited her aunt and she wore a middle part. Hepburn scolded her niece saying it did not suit her and that she looked like a Quaker. Since then when someone is forcing a middle part for their face that doesn’t suit middle parts, I can’t help but see Quaker or Queen Victoria. Some people’s face shapes just don’t suit middle parting.
I’m hanging on to mine too! I’ve tried the middle part and my hair slowly moves back to a side part through the day either from the wind blowing it or my running my fingers through my hair so I gave up that middle part real quick🤷🏻♀️
My thought exactly. I'm looking for a new look. I was confused before this. Now I'm a bit nervous about my upcoming consultation appointment. Oh well, most anything is an improvement on the hot mess I have now.
I almost shrieked in a salon chair when she attempted to curl my hair back in the front giving me some Charlies Angels hair. It took me straight back to 7th grade. 😂
Other than the gray roots and curls to the ends, every single thing that you mentioned are things that I love in hair - the stripey look, the side part, wispy bangs, and lots of layers (especially for my super-thick hair). To each her own I guess.
The whole no layers goes against the shag trend 😂😂 This whole video is super ageist. Ageing means doing whatever the heck you want and looks good on you and or makes you feel good surely! Jane Fonda looks amazing at any age. Using her as an example is nuts. Whats the obsession with "looking younger". Embrace your years on earth. It beats the alternative!
Every woman in L.A. has the middle part, Instagram 2017 same long hair thing you just described. I purposely now try to part my hair off to the side a bit to avoid it.
You said the video is ageist but yet you clicked on it!!! The title is "trends that are aging you"!! Lol! I'm sure you wanted to see if you were in or out of style!!! Don't be such a hypocrite. We all wear what we want but we're here for her opinion
@@ceciliam1007 The problem with the video is that she's WRONG. Example, the middle part is a no-go for most aging women because we start losing hair on top. Nobody wants to see that. It would be a helluva lot more aging if we followed her advice.
@@ceciliam1007 I clicked on the video because I was interested in seeing new "trends." After viewing it, which one has to do, there wasn't anything new. I didn't call it "aging;" the hair stylist used that term. I'm not a hypocrite. There is absolutely nothing new about parting your hair in the middle, wearing hair extensions, and using a curling iron. They've been doing that style here on young, middle, and old women for at least five years. Another woman below made a helpful comment stating that parting your hair in the middle isn't always flattering either. Just facts. She does nice work though.
I can't think of one person who looks better with a middle part. A few look just as good but none that look better. It reminds me of Jan Brady on the Brady Bunch. I go a long with most trends but only ones that look better on me. Like darker roots or lighter roots look equally as good on everybody but one definitely looks more dated so that I can get behind but I am not parting my hair on the middle just because some kid on tik tok says so. Kids that I might add can't buy alcohol or vote yet they are influencing JLO??? Makes no sense to me. I get when your young, opinions of others matters so much but the freedom you feel at say 35 to not give a shit is a beautiful thing. An nothing is worse than someone 60 succumbing to that pressure. You can find a healthy balance an not go all in.
I agree with you. Except for a small minority of women, center part is less flattering. Unfortunately, it is the trend and has been here for a while, so I’m trying to embrace it. I’m optimistic that it will pass and we will all look back on the center part and laugh, but until then…We’re saddled with center parts and high waisted/high ankled jeans (SUPER unflattering). Beautiful women with a slight gap in their teeth can look better with a center part - like Lauren Hutton, Lily Aldridge, or Anna Paquin. I think that Gloria Steinem looks better with a center part too.
@@karikelly2797 Yes high waisted pants are much less flattering. The thing about this center part thing is that it is not a hard trend. If you look at Instagram there are plenty of side parts. Kylie Jenner wears her part on the side most of the time. As well as Jennifer Aniston. Look at pictures from the met gala. There is a very good mix of both. Tik Tok brainwashed everyone.😂 When it comes to high waist pants an washed out jeans I am afraid it's pretty clear those are what everyone wears.😔
Idk I find my face genuinely looks better with a (almost) middle part.. the side part was my middle school / high school obsession and on my thin face with higher more prominent cheekbones I find it more flattering!
@@BoglimWrangler666 Same... used to do side part in middle/high school and now I like how I look in middle part. Not because of some trend or whatever just through experimenting.
Middle parting? Hm, no, just no. Been there, done that about 20 years ago, so if I stick to my old style, as mentioned in video, it should age me right? I stick to my side parting because it's flattering on me and it's new for me 😉 it's not all about trends.
I love that your suggestions are essentially just encouraging people to try something new. Doing new things is a key to feeling young and having an exciting life. This should include changes to your personal style if you so desire!
The heavy layers are super back for alternative styles such as the shag or the wolf cut. Also heavy roots with a contrast at the top are a hot trend with the younger crowds. This video should be called: "how to uniform everyone with a plain, boring look". Be yourself and don't be afraid to try things. Hair grows back.
As someone who pays very little attention to my hair I clicked here to see what I should be doing. It's so gratifying to learn that with my grown out colour, messy waves and lazy centre parting, I've inadvertently ticked all the right boxes 😂
I’m 57 and a retired Hairstylist. We’ve already done the Beachy waves with Farrah Faucett and Pamela Anderson and Heather Lochlear’s was the Queen of dark roots. We’ve all had the middle part too, and got tired of it……that’s why we have the side part now. We don’t want to go backwards and wear our hair the way we already did for many years. It feels like dressing up for a 70’s party. 💈👩🦳💇🏼♀️
Thank you this was very helpful to me. Ok my face shape does not look good with a straight down middle part so I do a slight off center part. Can you talk about face shapes and what parts and face framing styles look best?
GREAT. I just had my hair done again for the first time since we began lockdown. It was practically virgin hair, it had grown out SO MUCH. My stylist gave me a full head of highlights (thankfully very thin at the very least) but I also felt this appeared somehow outdated as everyone now has balayage) not to mention it looked GRAY in the selfies I took when I got home. It looked amazing in the lighting at the salon for being what it is - a full head of highlights!! Can you tell me why this might be and also what I can do now to correct this, if anything?? Also, I inquired about adding a body wave to my roots for some lift because my hair seriously lacks volume and always falls flat. I don't care WHERE I go to get my hair done ( and I spend $$$ on my hair ) but anywhere I've gone (after 20+ years going to the same stylist, we parted ways over my being late to my last few appointments - he fired me as a client!!!) it always feels like I show pictures of color I like/want and it seems to go in one ear and out the other with the stylist going ahead and giving me whatever they've been doing anyway. Is this possibly because of the fact I've been friends or acquaintances with these guys for so many years??? I paid $275 for my "outdated" full head of highlights and that was HALF PRICE!! HELP.
@@indy18286 I respectfully disagree with you here. A lot of them DONT listen, a lot of them don’t keep up with the trends. You cannot achieve the balayage look with a whole head of highlights. Point being as a stylist you have to keep studying if you want to remain relevant . You have to continue learning learning learning and keeping up with trends, because clients are going to come with pictures they have seen and say “I want this” , it is the stylists duty to be honest and say whether or not this goal is achievable, I feel a lot of stylists just slap a shit load of foils and hope you will be happy with this. The best stylists I have been to LISTEN before they start and they are also HONEST if the picture goal is achievable. If a stylist is happy with his/her client base and ALL they want is 80s style foil highlights , so be it. I have been through so many times with stylists and I have found ONE who was bomb, and was on point with new stuff and techniques that a lot of young women are after. There are artists out there and then there are people who went yo hairdressing school and take a salary at the end of the month.
@@indy18286 No worries , you are totally entitled to that. I was also just saying my experience. I’ve lived in 6 different countries. Have an awesome day 🎀
Trendy vs what looks best on me? I'm going for what looks best on me. Sometimes that means it will be trendy and sometimes not. I can never wrap my mind around how people are such slaves to the trend police that they wear hairstyles and clothing that does not look good on them. Are we really letting condescending young kids dictate what part we have? Or anything else as far as that goes. (Supposedly now they are saying nobody should wear blonde hair anymore 🤦♀️) I would rather look good than trendy. Everything comes back in style anyway in time, lol. I love my side part. It's more forgiving. And dark roots are too high maintenance if you are fighting grey hairs. So I will also stick to some highlights around the roots. But, I will say you are very beautiful and I envy your hair!!
I’m a little confused. The picture she showed at 1:38 is what we should do or shouldn’t do? Because on the thumbnail pic there’s a big X over it 🤔 but I assume it’s what we shouldn’t do, because the hair highly contrasted
Center parts are great if you have symmetrical features and a smaller nose. If not, it draws attention to asymmetry and larger noses. And after a certain age it looks like an adult wearing the hairstyle of an 8 year old little girl if you wear it long. Hard pass.
I get the same hair cut every time 😂 my side part isn't going anywhere. My layers & V cut in the back isn't going anywhere either. My hair is very long & thick. If I don't have it cut that way, its too heavy & I want to keep as much length as possible. I'm about to have a good 7 inches or so cut off soon though. It'll still be long, just not where I'm sitting on it 🤣
Yes!! This is me too!! V hair cut for life and my side part is here to stay! The only time i'm okay with a closer to middle part is when I have thick bangs.
I wouldn't recomend doing darker hair as we age. My mom and some of my aunts did, and it made her features look more severe, and also their wrinkels. Now they have dcidwd to go gray, and while they transitioned they started to get highlights to break up the dark dye line, and they instantly looked fresher
Would a consult include a color match? I have grey hairs and do not have the time or the means to go to the salon as often as would be necessary for a root touch up! I would ideally like to do my own root touch ups with salon visits every couple of months. thank you!
For no particular reason, I started doing a centre part for the last 6 months. I love it. Mind you I have long thick healthy hair even though I am 57. I also have good skin and keep in shape etc. Never would have dreamed I’d be wearing a centre part. Didn’t even do it in. High school. .
oh nooo, I have super super thick hair that always does the big cone shape unless I have all those choppy layers. Am I an outlier? Because I have tried so many hair styles that always looked awful on me or were so difficult to maintain, and this style is the only one that looks good on me 🙃
I have that issue too when the hair at the my back of head is all one length, however I live in a tropical climate year round and to prevent frizz & puffy hair I can only have some long layers, barely noticeable, and only because it gives my hair more bounce and movement. That said, my hair stylist from way back would do this technique where he’d layer mid to long lengths under a decent amount of the top layer of my hair, it was subtle and had I not been watching him do it you’d never know otherwise. Also, he’d do this by picking up small sections of hair and lightly sliding an open pair of scissors gently, but quickly, down vertically on the section of hair. I’m sure this technique has a name and I’m sure it’s one that needs to be done precisely. I’m sure someone knows what I’m referring to.
I had a off side part for years. Hairdresses would cut to a side part. Now trying to do center part and it's all uneven, it's been a year. Isn't true that you should always cut with a center part? Then style a quarterly?
I always prefer to cut on a center part. It creates more cemetery. However a year later your hair should have grown enough to be have been evened out now.
I have really blonde hair and I want to change it up I want to go with a highlight like yours What should I tell my hair dresser ? I want my roots blended with highlights more of a natural look but still blonde so my hair can also grow bc it always stays the same length 😒
I ask for more dimension and a blended root. Let your hair grow out and your colorist/stylist can foil and melt the root. But leave your end alone. Or she could lowlight.
I love a middle part; but, I am thinning terribly directly in the center. No, actually past the thinning stage. Balding. I am trying off center because side swept does exactly what you said…lays very flat and difficult to get volume that way. My forehead is very high; so, bangs aren’t quite right either. I have been thinking about a forward moving pixie. Making that leap is too psychological at the moment. I know I am dated…but, there are many reasons why. I am so embarrassed to see a stylist. Thank you for making these vids available 🙏🏻☺️ You are so kind.

I believe, as many people I know do as well, that the center part does NOT look good on most people. You need to have an almost perfect face to pull that off. It also cuts off half of your face, as you cut off both sides of your face, like your CHEEKBONES which you never want to do. The center part is reminiscent of the 60s and 70s and is SO OUTDATED. On the contrary, the side part ADDS MORE VOLUME AND LIFT especially when you side part on the opposite side of the way your hair falls naturally. Doing this gives you an automatic lift. Making NO PART AT ALL IS THE BEST WAY OF ALL. Don't part it, just brush your hair straight back, give a little shake and let your hair fall NATURALLY the way it wants to and you will achieve the most beautiful, natural look for YOU! Try it, play with it and don't put an intentional fake part in your hair. The middle part isn't flattering on anyone.
I have a whirl/cowlick so my hair naturally wants to do a side part. When I do a center part one side lifts up while the other lays down perfectly. Anything I can do about that??
Thank you! You spoke to my soul with the first part on color. I got highlights at modern salon and got stripes and contrast from root to ends only coming from top my crown. I HATE IT. I paid for balayage and don't understand why I got this. Hence why I'm watching your videos to figure out why stylist would do this to someone in 2024.
Thank you! Great tips & advice, makes so much sense as you were talking about each point and the pictures as examples is great! Thanks again, and really looking forward to meeting your new family member soon!
I do appreciate that you add not to be a victim of the trends and these are just suggestions for a freshened look. Lord knows I need one after Covid hideout!
I'm in my mid 40's and have tried a center part a few times but due to a few hair cowlicks right up front it doesn't work for me personally. I think each individual, their face shape and hair type is more the deciding factor than trends when comes to what looks good/younger on each person. And honestly as long as I feel good about me, really that's all that matters 😊 I really don't think you meant that anyone should do or change something if they already feel great about their style/hair though. I did appreciate the recommendation regarding hair color, so thanks.
She wouldn't know how. Like the middle part advice, which is egregious. You want this young chick, who has no freaking idea about aging, to give advice. smh
@@edennis8578 Don’t understand the need for the rude reply and bitter tone. Fact is she has a wealth of knowledge that many of us do not have, despite her age v those older, she’s been working on women of all ages, hair type, etc for a long time, and has gained so much experience & knowledge that on this topic, why would anyone disregard someone younger if that person has been exposed to so much more education & experience specific to this topic? I’m 50 with waist length curly hair. I need to hear about curls lol!! 😁 I love it because the way my hairdresser cuts it, I can wear it straight as well.
Hi i am a woman late 40s from England U.K. My natural hair colour is very dark brown but for the last 5 years i have had a full head of foils from root to ends. My hair length is about an inch shorter then yours. How do i create your hairstyle? I just love your look, i would just love for you to do my hair. I just look forward to your videos too. hahahaha this is why haidressers refused to give me a very strongly layered look with many sections - it has been my go to look all these year and apparently its just outdated hahah
Excellent points. I have a longer oval face & I look HORRIBLE with a center part. I'm blessed with cowlicks in the perfect places to make my hair lay nicely but nothing helps a center part on me... can you do a video on how you cut front layers (blending back) on long hair & also how you style your hair
You are a grate hair stylist and aware of color and how to stay updated. My question to you is what is a best way to style hair that is thinned out in the front bang area.
Thing is, I've also always had a natural deep side part. I had it as a child and I kept it growing up. In the 90s when everyone had middle parts I was the only one around me with a side part because that's what my hair wanted to do. And that's the way it'll stay. It doesn't matter if its trendy or not that's what looks best on my head haha.
Excellent tips! I went crazy on my bangs about a week ago. I have a center part which is good but I look very 80s style right now. The top of my hair looks pointy like a Kiss or Bee Gees hairstyle. So I need to put down my scissors and let my layers grow.
Hi Sylvia! Thanks for another video :) I have a question about Argan oil. I didn’t realize how many hair oils have low smoking points- so basically it’s like cooking your hair when you use heat. I don’t use any hot tool other than my blow dryer after my hair is about 80% dry after showering. Can Argan oil be used as a heat protectant? Or is the smoke point too low? Would I only use it AFTER I’m done styling for extra shine? I’ve been bad and never use heat protection because I’m sensitive to smells and they’re all so loaded with fragrance. But the Argan oil smell doesn’t bother me at all!
Wow....I'm 62 yrs old....funny how young girls are telling older women what they should look like....hate to break it to you ....we don't care, we have lived decades and are so much more educated, wiser, strong, fierce and beautiful....keep your advice.
If you are doing a look that was really trendy years ago it's always going to age you. This is because women often stick to the styles and fashions from their youth so that look is associated with the middle aged. Trends do cycle but there are subtle changes each time.
Nicely stated. LOL--I've worn my hair the same since about 1981, but it's classic long with bangs that get varied a little with the era. Since I do it myself, the biggie is keeping roots at bay now that I'm in my late 60s. I like your advice; it makes sense, especially the parting and highlighting. I also like that you're not wearing big, fake eyelashes!
I have a hard time with my ends, getting them relaxed but still clumpy. How can this be done without extensions? Are you wearing extensions here or are your ends natural?
I highlight my hair so I am a bit guilty of the stripy look. I will figure out how to Shadow it a little better. That is actually really good advice that places me in the early 2000s.
When young I had dark brown hair. I am now almost all gray. I am a cool skin tone. I have colored my hair light brown and then roots, sandy blond. Nothing seems to be right color. What lighter color hair would look better and more youthful for me without a 2 week root touch up.
I’m stuck with alopecia on one side of my head. On top of that my hairline also receded. Can you do a video on how to cover that or haircuts like bangs that would cover a receding hairline? 😊
What do those of us do that don’t have Greys that start at the roots, but instead just random full strands of grey/white hair sporadically throughout? I’m 32 and don’t want to dye my hair (naturally black but technically a super dark brown), but my white full strands take forever to pull out lol
Great advice, I appreciate the tips. I do notice when I see pictures of friends with the same hairstyle from 20 years ago it does age them. If there’re happy that’s wonderful, but for me change is good.
I haven't had a suggestion from this channel in a while, like years. I clicked it and was astonished at how her face changed so much...from obvious fillers...which can age you...which is ironic.

👏 😂 I love you
Hell yes. My thoughts exactly. This video is a joke.
Amen. I usually love her videos but this one made me feel bad…then I read your comment and realized why. My hair is aging and I can’t get away with what I could when I was younger!
Lol. Ty 👏👏👏❤️
youre right,in myke. fifties i wear my hair like i want,i dont need to be trendy anymore,im my own trend, stop to say woman what she should look like.Im not in my age for this bullshit anymore, graceful? No I want to look like who i am now,53,strongminded,full of experience.not loveley in the typical way. When can a woman look like her age???Anytime she wants!
I also think an off center part might be ok however not many people are symmetrical enough to pull off an exact center part - and unfortunately as you get older, you get less symmetrical
Yep, I'm rocking a pretty deep side part. More flattering on me, in my eyes. My hair naturally wants to do it, as well.
I didn’t know you get less symmetrical With age!!! Only that it is a signal of health. I’ve been having intermittent asymmetrical facial swelling for years. It is v upsetting. Deep side part for sure helps.
Yes I agree, I tried parting my hair down the middle and it definitely doesn’t look good on me. Side part it is!
💯
Thank you! I can't wait until this chick hits 50 and starts realizing what a douche she is.
I agree. Also, in my case. I prefer to have a side part to balance some asymmetrical features like one eye slightly lower than the other or one cheekbone lower than the other. Some people prefer not to have anything "done" to their face but would rather use makeup and hair to create balance and symmetry.
@@edennis8578 You've been one your whole life
True, my face has always been relatively long.
@@ItsGloryDaze my wife cant wear middle part hair, its to curly ... middle part hair is for those kids who have long straight hair, like in the 60s
@@ItsGloryDaze this 👏👏👏
Yes, I see this especially in the USA, long, normally blond died hair with curler made waves, abundant make up and fake long nails: that is the american female uniform.
How about we all realize that she's just giving fun suggestions?
Who cares, I wear my hair straight below shoulder length, I can wear it up or down I could care less what people think, it looks good. I’m 70 and aging is beautiful
I couldn't care less about a lot of things but at 68, I like to hear suggestions from someone new and fresh.
Almost everyone I have seen looks cuter in a side part. The middle part just looks plain Jane to me! I’m hanging on to my side part!
I’ve tried the middle part and my hair slowly moves back to a side part through the day either from the wind blowing it or my running my fingers through my hair so I gave up that middle part real quick🤷🏻♀️
yes I think I look like a conehead with a center part
Same here !
Center parts make my neck look short.
Freshen up and look current - I love that idea!
These are fun suggestions, people. She's nicely pointing out what works for a lot of us. No need to feel so defensive here!
A person of the late 60' - '70s would be reliving a trend if they went back to the middle part. 😄
haha this is true
My thought exactly. I'm looking for a new look. I was confused before this. Now I'm a bit nervous about my upcoming consultation appointment. Oh well, most anything is an improvement on the hot mess I have now.
Yes! I've relived many trends by now 😂
I thought the same. My first thought no way. I had a center part for years! Lol
I think stripey hair always looks bad/cheap. Wispy bangs make your hair look thin. But to each their own.
The whole no layers goes against the shag trend 😂😂
This whole video is super ageist.
Agree.
@@karikelly2797 I do look better with a middle part xo
I agree wholeheartedly but wouldn’t be me without side part.❤️❤️❤️❤️
Can you do a video of how to get a hair cut like the one you have?
HELP.
people think stylist are miracle workers and expect way to much
@@indy18286
I respectfully disagree with you here.

Yes, middle parts aren't kind to prominent noses.
What part compliments prominent nose?
@@sunnygiselle anything asymmetric, like a side part. Even an off center part.

Middle part and no curls= 67 year old trying to look 25=fail IMO. Been there in the 60s, done with that.
great tips...fixing to make some changes today starting with my side part
I love this comment. I am with you 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Can you talk about this in regards to people who have naturally curly or wavy hair?

I’m a little confused. The picture she showed at 1:38 is what we should do or shouldn’t do? Because on the thumbnail pic there’s a big X over it 🤔 but I assume it’s what we shouldn’t do, because the hair highly contrasted
@ellebangs Your makeup on this vlog is so classy yet simple! I need to know those makeup colors u used please...
Center parts are great if you have symmetrical features and a smaller nose. If not, it draws attention to asymmetry and larger noses. And after a certain age it looks like an adult wearing the hairstyle of an 8 year old little girl if you wear it long. Hard pass.
My big German schnoz agrees. Hard pass.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. What about curly hair? You did not mention anything about how to wear curly hair.
Yep - they seem to forget about us 🥲
Wow, for such a quick video, there is a wealth of great tips! Thank you so much!
What do you do for women with thinning crowns and widened hair parts?
I get the same hair cut every time 😂 my side part isn't going anywhere. My layers & V cut in the back isn't going anywhere either. My hair is very long & thick. If I don't have it cut that way, its too heavy & I want to keep as much length as possible. I'm about to have a good 7 inches or so cut off soon though. It'll still be long, just not where I'm sitting on it 🤣
Yes!! This is me too!! V hair cut for life and my side part is here to stay! The only time i'm okay with a closer to middle part is when I have thick bangs.
Thank you for the video! What about dark hair, is it okay to go darker as you get older?
I wouldn't recomend doing darker hair as we age. My mom and some of my aunts did, and it made her features look more severe, and also their wrinkels. Now they have dcidwd to go gray, and while they transitioned they started to get highlights to break up the dark dye line, and they instantly looked fresher
Would a consult include a color match? I have grey hairs and do not have the time or the means to go to the salon as often as would be necessary for a root touch up! I would ideally like to do my own root touch ups with salon visits every couple of months. thank you!
Yes, I can absolutely help you find your perfect hair color formula!
Just do root touch ups. Cheap and easy.
I look horrendous with a middle part. It’s crazy how just a few centimeters to the side makes me look so much better.
Same here, i would never wear a middle part, it looks so stupid on me.
I have an oval face with no cheekbones so a side part makes me look awful, I have to be off to the side because canter just elongates further.
Do you have an at home ombre video out?
This was super helpful. I felt last time I had my hair highlighted it looked very dated and I couldn’t put it into words as to why. Now I know.
Yay! Thats the point o fthese videos to help YOU identify what you like and what you want to better get exactly that!
What nail polish are you wearing? This look so nice with darker brown coloured hair
Age is just a number wear your hair how you like.
What is best way to transition to grey without adding more chemicals?
Do you have any suggestions for hair parting with a ‘widow’s peak’? I love the center part but I feel like it just looks silly on me 😩

I love your hair now. The color compliments you so well.
Exactly. I have thick density, fine textured wavy hair. I NEED layering to prevent a flat root and poofed out ends!
Side comment...where did you get your "shacket"? I ♡ that color!
I have really blonde hair and I want to change it up
I want to go with a highlight like yours
What should I tell my hair dresser ? I want my roots blended with highlights more of a natural look but still blonde so my hair can also grow bc it always stays the same length 😒
I ask for more dimension and a blended root. Let your hair grow out and your colorist/stylist can foil and melt the root. But leave your end alone. Or she could lowlight.
Im 53 I have long balayaged hair and love the colour. However my parting needs to be on the side as its thin on the top 😥
Olá, que tipo de corte aconselhas para dar mais volume . Obrigado 🙂

I’ve been wearing a side part since I was 11. I have a big forehead and the middle part was never it on me. Lol
Trends are crazy fast these big curls and layers are back with the high school/college girls I have a feeling all of these are coming back it’s 90s
Excellent tips! I went crazy on my bangs about a week ago. I have a center part which is good but I look very 80s style right now. The top of my hair looks pointy like a Kiss or Bee Gees hairstyle. So I need to put down my scissors and let my layers grow.
Hi Sylvia! Thanks for another video :)
I have a question about Argan oil.
I literally do all of these things except maybe the color. I’m not getting rid of my bouncy curls! 😂

I have a question! How in the heck does an anti-wrinkle cream make a person look older?
I have a hard time with my ends, getting them relaxed but still clumpy. How can this be done without extensions? Are you wearing extensions here or are your ends natural?
I highlight my hair so I am a bit guilty of the stripy look. I will figure out how to Shadow it a little better. That is actually really good advice that places me in the early 2000s.
I have a cowlick that really prevents me from having a down the center part. 😢 it’s so stubborn!
Can you do a video how to keep hair healthy looking as you age? I do have my hair colored every couple of months.
Thank you for continuing to make these helpful videos.
