    Finally...the sequel! This video is to showcase the TRD rims being mounted on my 2006 4runner. After mounting...there was a problem that arose. Some minor mods were in order.

      Thanks! I agree, it went from ok, to awesome looking. Sometimes I wonder why they don’t just make some of them look like this out of the factory. Seems like it would be advantageous to all.

    Looks great. I also want these classic TRD wheels on my 4th gen.
    I worked at Discout Tire 3 different times. The first segment, we kicked serious ass. Had a great crew. Worked 58 hours a week. They don't let employees do that anymore. Like 30 hours now. Very sad.

    Beautiful, that's the color and engine I would go with as well. I think your grill trim would look better in white (rather than black) to match the rest of it but that's just me. There aren't enough 4th gen 4runner builds on UA-cam so I'll be watching your channel for more vids. Nicely done!

      S Liller -sounds like a very lovable 4runner! And I have a Phantom 3 Pro as well, and I even crashed it while out there making this video, but it survived. A week later I crashed it again when it suddenly fell from the sky for no apparent reason. Tried to fix it with new parts, but it’s toast. So I bought a Phantom 4. It’s a nice upgrade. I’m gonna sell the P4 for parts now. lol. Hey thanks for watching the video, and subscribing! Should be more vids coming.

      @ImpaxFilmsNashville  5 років тому

      Jake, wow a H'ville homie! ha. That's awesome. Well, finding off-roading spots is nearly impossible out this way isn't it? Everything is either a roadway, or dense trees, or a field with crops, or a farmland with a farmer who will come out and shoot you. I miss my homeland of Cali for that reason. (and the weather). For this video, I Went out to Wooly's off road club. I had asked a couple people where to go, and this one came up. I didn't know you are supposed to pay to get in, and my wife and I just drove on in and had a little 4x4 fun! lol -I found out later out it being a pay location. Anyway, that's the best I can tell you, is Wooly's. And we only stayed around the other edge. We didn't go deep exploring at all. Maybe some day. Maybe with another 4Runner friend? Is the rough country 3" lift the best way to go? I'm looking between that and the Bilstein 5100 shocks. I don't know which to choose. And the boot problem you had in your first video I have as well! I'm looking to do the same style as your 4Runner as mine already has the blackout grill and tires with some other things. Let me know if It is worth it to get the Rough Country lift!

      Drew Boore - All I can tell you is that I like what I have. I can’t compare it to anything because I don’t have anything to compare it with, as this is my first real four-wheel-drive vehicle. And I’m not very knowledgeable on mechanical things either. So, what are usually do is what you were doing, and that is to ask various people. I do my studying when I’m about to make a purchase, I make an informed decision, and then I move on, usually forgetting all the information I studied. LOL. On the lift kit installation as seen in the last video, I went with the recommendations from Brian’s Motorsports. He recommended it, I did some research, then I stuck with his recommendations. That’s how I roll!! Hoping all the best for you in your adventure!

    Looks great man. I have a 2006 limited, black. I’m going for the same wheels, except a smaller tire. 265 70r17.. I can’t decide if I want the 2” rough country lift, or the 3”

    • @ImpaxFilmsNashville
      @ImpaxFilmsNashville  3 роки тому

      With those smaller tires, I’d probably go with 2” lift. My newer 2015 4Runner has 285/70/17s on it, with a 3” lift, and they look a tad bit small (for my taste). I got those tires half price, but nearly good as new, because I was in a hurry and was about to drive cross country with my wife on a two week vacation. Now I’m looking for which type of 285/75/17s I want. Maybe the BFGs. You can see my new runner in my latest video, which is the video focused on the front grill install of my older 2006 I traded away.

      @ImpaxFilmsNashville  5 років тому

      Miles lavalley -If you are talking about the section I think you are, then yes I did. Check out the view at 4:14 on this vid. I am pleasantly surprised how well the plasti dip holds up. I don’t think I have a blemish on any of it, and I did all the plasti dip work around a year and a half ago I think now. It stays put! I think my only hip dip tip is to do it as recommended on the can. I always clean a surface like this with alcohol first. (Not whiskey or tequila, but you know, isopropyl alcohol). Then the key is....thin coats, and lots of them. The first coat especially needs to be really thin. Fonzi at DipYourCar.com was my internet teacher. Watch his stuff on his UA-cam channel. Great guy, and very knowledgeable on dipping. Have faith in the dip!

      @@ImpaxFilmsNashville Turns out the strange driveline sounds I was experiencing was coming from the spider gear in the front differential. Common problem with lifting 4Runners and Tacomas. Lifting changes the angle in how the CV axle rides in the drivers side needle bearing. East Coast Gear Supply designed a replacement bushing that gives more support for the CV axle thus correcting how the CV axle contacts the spider gear. They also designed a tool to remove the needle bearing. Paid a transmission shop $300 to do the job. Problem solved.

      You're going to get a little more negative offset with the TRD wheel, meaning the tire will stick out further(but only slightly). If you're running a stock size tire up to a 265 70 17 you should be fine; anything more you're going to want to lift.

    Can you throw the trd rims on stock suspension etc?

    • @ImpaxFilmsNashville
      @ImpaxFilmsNashville  3 роки тому

      I'm no expert, but I believe you can, but they do have a slightly more offset going on, over the stock rims, so it could potentially make for a small amount of rubbing, but probably not unless you also put on bigger tires.

    Is it on stock suspension in this video?

      The previous video shows the 3” lift kit going on, and new tires. Plus two new front axles. That’s all I’ve done at this point, regarding suspension type things.
