I saw Wire live in 1978 but didn't have any records. In the past 6 months I've bought 5 of their albums and they are all brilliant. You are never too old to surprise yourself !
I hope it was an eye opener (ear). It seems it was, since you bought a bunch of albums from them. I live in Holland and bought Pink Flag immediately after its release, and this is the Wire I know from the Punk era. Good solid Rock and Roll. I am 65 and still listen to the Pink Flag. I am a Rock and Roll Junkie 😂😎
My favourite band... Followed them all my life..Had The pleasure of seeing them live..Never rested on there laurels and keep on morphing..The best going around...
I wish there was a "proper" recording of "The Art Of Persistence" because the way they perform that song live is brilliant. One of my favorite moments from the Wire show in Cambridge, MA that I attended.
Wow, Wire are still rocking! Come to Aldershot again!!! And my total admiration and respect to KEXP first of all to get them in and then for the amazing production! The studio is beautiful!
They weren’t always too keen on playing the classics so in the late 80s I believe, they hired a cover band to play primarily Pink Flag and open up for them...
I've been reading the book "Read & Burn." It's likely the best and most conclusive book on Wire. And thank God Robert Grey is here playing drums after those dismal 90's days of "Manscape" and "Wir!"
@@hellowhirled when you've been around 40 to 45 years, you have the right to throw a wobbler or two. That being said, since the oughts to the present, they have been hitting it out of the park....
I discovered Wire in retrospect in the last few years, like much of the music around the time of their first 3 albums, and I've just sort of presumed that they were the only things of theirs worth listening to. More fool me, this sounds great.
They're playing at the Guild Hall in Preston on Monday October 30th and the amazing thing is that tickets are only £18, including booking fee. Great band, always interesting.
Not sure what that copy of The Shaggs Philosophy of the World album propped up against the new guitarist's amp is all about, but, hey, it's Wire, and they're doing what they do as well as they ever have, and I for one, am very grateful...top shelf!!!
how is Matthew getting that weird high note bending sound on the guitar breaks on Playing Harp....? An FX pedal? (I see has the whammy bar in his hand....)
A good look for older gentlemen. Only Wire, Swans and Hüsker Dü have come back with material equal, or better, to their peak. Fugazi, are ye listening!!?
Shit...guess I missed the tour. No to long haired hippies siting down and playing guitar. I was expecting more power rock...like how they came swinging out of the early 2000's power punching. Well The Art Of Persistence has that 1984 post punk sound of The Chameleons and Killing Joke
I saw Wire live in 1978 but didn't have any records. In the past 6 months I've bought 5 of their albums and they are all brilliant. You are never too old to surprise yourself !
Get all their albums
Great band who are always relevant
First Wire album I ever bought was IBTABA many years ago. One of the best bands ever
Brilliant. Love these guys
The legends still sound great and they stay busier than bands half their age.
great voice and great ideas every time yeah
Us OG Punks are old buggers now but those of us born before 1966 are still the real f***ing deal😄
"154" is one of my absolutely favourite albums ever.
Saw them in LA years ago. The opening act played Wire covers, their more well known songs. Brilliant idea. Hands down my top 3 bands!
I only got to see them once, at the Paradise in Boston....finding this is a real Xmas treasure
Eternal and seminal band ...
From "Pink Flag" to this incredible "Silver Lead", a trail marked by talent and consistency.
Wire.
The best, by far !!
Something atmospheric about Wire's sound. Always stellar guitar tones.
40 years a contemporary band... how true that is
Just discovered this band even though they've been around for 4.5 decades 😂. Thanks to Page Hamilton for putting me onto them 😉
My favorite : The Art of Assistance . Great feelings ,Brillant !
I love them. Since PF. in 77
My favourite band... Followed them all my life..Had The pleasure of seeing them live..Never rested on there laurels and keep on morphing..The best going around...
My all-time favorite band.
Damn.
Excellent
Brilliant as always
Always never less than challenging, this band has been inspiring me for decades now. New record is incredibly good
That they're still pumping out such quality material after all this time is incredible.
I wish there was a "proper" recording of "The Art Of Persistence" because the way they perform that song live is brilliant. One of my favorite moments from the Wire show in Cambridge, MA that I attended.
It dropped onto Spotify on 5th May. Sounds great too.
Short, vital punchy tunes. Great to see the raw energy is sustained into their dotage. Top outfit
I love this band so much!
Wow, Wire are still rocking! Come to Aldershot again!!!
And my total admiration and respect to KEXP first of all to get them in and then for the amazing production! The studio is beautiful!

Art of persistence total surprise
They weren’t always too keen on playing the classics so in the late 80s I believe, they hired a cover band to play primarily Pink Flag and open up for them...
Brilliant
Felt wired back to my early days - took me back to one of the best concert I ever attended at the Hammersmith Odeon. Great !
Meraviglioso live... Unici ed irraggiungibili.
Pretty sure it's "The Art of Persistence". Be that as it may, kudos to KEXP for these live-in-the-studio videos.
Wonderful as always
Wire is Love
I've been reading the book "Read & Burn." It's likely the best and most conclusive book on Wire. And thank God Robert Grey is here playing drums after those dismal 90's days of "Manscape" and "Wir!"
@joe curtin are you shitting on 80s Wire? you better not be shitting on 80s Wire

Awesome as always!
Ma boys! New album is so good!
Yes the new album is so god like.
Wire since the early 90's
Hard rock stripped down to its core. Brilliant performance and great recording!
Eastwood guitar and bass in there, along with the Danelectro (I recognized my bass)! These guys are so perfect.
Legendary band
don't tell me this is WIRE who made 12XU in 1977? unbelievable!
"Stripped down to the waist looking as limp as Monday morning"
Geniuses
I discovered Wire in retrospect in the last few years, like much of the music around the time of their first 3 albums, and I've just sort of presumed that they were the only things of theirs worth listening to. More fool me, this sounds great.
Check out Gang of Four and Television if you haven't. Similar post-punky aesthetic, you'd dig.
Thank you guys!!!!!!!!

they still being young inside!
Diamonds in cups with T Rex's sounds!!! Amazing!!!!
I luv it!!!
The Shaggs LP back there!
Masterpiece.
Sonic mechanic that tweak their sound with each new release...Bold like no other band.
Absolutely fantastic. Thank you
Took me back to one of the best concert i attended at the Hammersmith Odeon

Still sound great as ever, no pigeons hole for this band ,wire
Glad I got to meet them in 88
They're playing at the Guild Hall in Preston on Monday October 30th and the amazing thing is that tickets are only £18, including booking fee. Great band, always interesting.
nice!!
Precision. Like a Rolex watch.
ooooohhhhh que están viejitos!!
TOP! WIRE is good !
Amazing sound as always!
Wonder why you guys at KEXP use the Sennheisers 280 HD instead of the Sony 7506. isolation?
I liked Colin's guitar and the very simple drum kit. Did anyone notice the Shaggs' album cover??
Saw them live at the Bakery Perth Australia. Too bad that venue shut down.
Not sure what that copy of The Shaggs Philosophy of the World album propped up against the new guitarist's amp is all about, but, hey, it's Wire, and they're doing what they do as well as they ever have, and I for one, am very grateful...top shelf!!!
Maybe just a subtle way to get them exposure?
Four people don't rotate, eddy or spin.
Can someone tell me what Top of the Club is on please? Cheers me dears.
how is Matthew getting that weird high note bending sound on the guitar breaks on Playing Harp....? An FX pedal? (I see has the whammy bar in his hand....)
simon young chorus set to sweep?
Back for thrill \o/
c'mon young buck strap it up like ole guys!
Interesting that either he or someone else removed the "Airline" guitars plate from that
headstock.
And at 16:26 you can see the holes for the stock bigsby that was removed.
Does Wire have any job openings for Drum Tech? ; )
do these guys never sleep . .
You can hear the Harry Styles influence. Its not bad.
A good look for older gentlemen. Only Wire, Swans and Hüsker Dü have come back with material equal, or better, to their peak. Fugazi, are ye listening!!?
didnt know Husker Du ever had new material after breaking up. you thinking of a different band?
Harp for the Fishes.....sounds like Roxy Music to me..... Not a bad thing
Shit...guess I missed the tour.
No to long haired hippies siting down and playing guitar.
I was expecting more power rock...like how they came swinging out of the early 2000's power punching.
Well The Art Of Persistence has that 1984 post punk sound of The Chameleons and Killing Joke
Wire is not Wire without Bruce Gilbert. They should call themselves "Wie".
Great sounds, yet Colin needs a haircut.
