Supertron I just went out of the movie and i have to admit, the only practical things that made it onto the screen were the Apatosaurus head and a piece of Indominus Rex meat. :( The CGI though was stunning. And in my opinion they really managed it to recreate some of the Jurassic Park charm. In general i had a lot of fun watching it, although it wasn't as brilliant as the first two movies. So, if Jurassic Park is a 11 on a 0-10 scale, then Jurassic World would be a acceptable 6. Not mind-boggling, but definitely worth a watch and surely bang for the buck. At least for myself.
Almost 20 years have passed and I continue to be amazed with all practical job made on this movie. Congratulations for the whole SWS team! I coundn´t help noticed some others puppets on the background, like the stegosaurus and the paquicephalosaurus. I´m sure I´m not the only one having huge curiosity about those not-so-famous dinos from JPII, like "elvis" and the (walking) triceratops. I believe showing the efford of those who designed and builted those creatures for just 20 seconds of screening time shound be entertaining for the public as well as gratifiyng for the artists.
Soooo fascinating. Animatronics should always prevail over CGI whenever it's possible. This raptor looks so real, so tangible that it will always provide a stronger emotional impact than the CGI would...
thank you guys for the creation of my all time favorite version of the raptors, the lost world males. just something about the tiger color scheme just looks....awe inspiring. i even had a chance as a little kid to see one first hand and it absolutely terrified me at the time of 97 i was 3. still, thank you all for such an amazing and wonderful creation that still is and always will be, my favorite rendition. I do hope however....the male lost world and original raptors will make a return in future Jurassic World movies....

nerdommeetsboy It may look cool but there is just so much you can do with animatronics...All they basically can do is just move slowly around a bit. Animatronics cant run, jump or fight and thats why its more or less replaced with CGI now... CGI can do things that animatronics never could.
It's a damn shame that animatronics are almost completely abolished in Jurassic World. They should have used more animatronics in close shots and close middle shots.
The thing I always thought was cool about these is the fact that they have a clear eyelid that makes they eye flash when it blinks. Freaked me out as a kid.

Thank god that the clever girls I met at Universal Studios Orlando were basically a replication of this sort of practicality, even with Jurassic World's CGI. I miss those clever girls already, that's why I'm here. [-':

The first Jurassic Park still has great effects, but I think the second improved on them in a lot of ways, such as more detailed CG textures for dinosaurs, smoother and more expressive animatronics, et cetera.
Fun fact about Jurassic Park, did you know that those aren't velociraptors those are Anchilobaters witch they called velociraptors cuz it sounds cooler
The Lost World raptors are really similar to the original Jp raptor concept as well as the way the raptors were explained in Michael Crichton's novel. Wonder if that's intentional.
ImVxpour You should make one. I'm sure it would be an enjoyable experience and perhaps a learning curve for a fun hobby. There are a few sculpting tutorials on youtube.
When I was younger I had a crazy idea aboiyt making a Triceratops-robot (or some other easy dinosaur) and have it wreaking somebodys garden. Just the thought of someone calling the police: There is a dinosaur digging in my garden ... Then I started getting ideas about green dyed mice dropped by small parachutes from my window. Again: Martian mice are invading the Earth! Lots of ideas that came to nothing. Perhaps that was good, I might have scared someone to death.
I would've preferred still giving the realistic animatronic and CGI-animated velociraptors of Jurassic Park III (3) the brownish colors that were given to the female velociraptors of the first film and the tiger-like colors that were given to the male velociraptors of The Lost World 1997 sequel and I wish the people who worked for Stan Winston Studios had provided a few realistic animatronic velociraptors for the Jurassic Park ride at Universal Studios in Hollywood, California and Orlando, Florida and also provided four realistic animatronic puppets of Blue, Charlie, Delta and Echo for Jurassic World and just the one of Blue for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.

Captain Viggo Unfortunatelly, Jurassic World has not combined that techniques - I saw almost NO practical effects there. Colin Trevorrow never more!

I love the Raptors from The Lost World Jurassic Park.
This transcends CG in every conceivable way. You instinctively know you are seeing a tangible object on screen rather than a simulation.
This footage alone looks better than the raptor in the new fallen trailer!

***** Free running robots are still far from being able to imitate a living creature. There's a reason why all the "money shots" are still CG.
This is something that should be designated national treasure. A modern one. Would be sad if this kind of art was lost to time.
