"Why just shells? WHY LIMIT YOUR SELF? she sells sea shells sell oil as well!" IS A BANGER LINE
Yo, check out the rest of his stuff. It's absolutely incredible. The other Money Games, and Hi Ren are a good start.
Haven't seen anyone mention it, but i absolute LOVE how unhinged his voice is in "Why just shells, why limit yourself? She sells seashells sell OIL AS WELL!"
Really helps drive the feeling of things going out of hand, of quickly mounting greed, of someone letting the money game take control.
When a voice breaks during certain lyrics, I never have seen it as a negative, I interpret is as having true meaning to the artist and it becomes more significant to me, as a listener, just me tho ❤
@@azzydazzy2705 E x a c t l y
Same with voice acting, if you hear the voice break that means there's genuine emotion charging it. If it was smooth and clean the whole way through it'd feel like he was reading off a script. But with imperfections like this, it injects so much passion, like he's pouring this out straight from the heart.
@@atomsorcerer8356 I have been brought up with blues and jazz, any voice break would give me goosebumps or make me cry! I would rather hear a "raw" version over any studio master or "remaster"! I love the scratchy sound of a vinyl and I love to hear the heart of a musician ❤

Doesn’t limits to capitalism, it’s everything . But yeah, capitalism’s fault, it’s easier to blame.
the selling part perfectly encapsulates consumerism and late stage capitalism, maybe the blaming part is a bit more of a stretch, but its not a stretch to say that capitalism provides extra incentive to blame others (such as your business competitors) or allows those with those tendencies to obtain power.@@ENZO542_

I see plenty of people praising the lyrics "sell water to a fish, sell the time to a clock", but I don't see anyone saying why it's so great.
It's easy to jump to the intuition that fish and water are fundamental parts of each other, but fish _can_ be deprived of water, and when they are, it is fatal.
It's a similar story with clocks and time. Time is not an innate property of clocks, they only _keep track_ of time. A clock that doesn't know the time is worthless; literally a useless tool.
If you can sell water to a fish or the time to a clock, you're literally controlling their life/usefulness. It wouldn't even be a choice. It's required.

Whilst the phrase of course didn't originate with Scarface, it's pretty hard to not think of Tony when it is mentioned, and the parallels between a simple seller of sea shells on the sea shore going on to deal in diamonds, drugs and firearms definitely parallels Tony going from being a guy that just wanted a green card to live in the US to becoming a gangster and later the leader, dealing in similar substances.

BlackOut 4.4k - 11 now
First time listening to the whole song and damn that's a banger.
It's been years since I worked as a teacher but I wish I had the chance to show this amazing song to my students.
Even after 3 years, this song is stil a banger
"Swallow all your morals, they're a poor mans quality" This song is spot on. Being successfull should not be about money.
Being successfull is not about money m8. I guess you live in USA where money is what completly defines you as a social entity. But success means literally the fact of completing or achieve some personal desire/goal, not money related at all. But most of consumist countries make people think of money as that goal to make you a money making-bot.
@@alchene321 you literally just repeated his thoughts.
That's capitalism for ya
@@Ectoplasmicphantom2 I misinterpreted Rinkus comment at first too
I think striving for money is fine if people want to. Like it or not, money represents power. And some people are born to strive for power. Whether they achieve it or not... Well, that's a different story.
"Sell water to a fish, sell the time to a clock" when he says it, it hits hard, I can't explain
Because he found a way to commotize things you need to survive, something that some monopolies are trying to do.

Capitalist economics, but you can still call it corrupt
@@bossman5284 Cronyism =/= capitalism. The greedy megacorps that are a scourge upon society literally exist to violate and break free market ideals wherein market competition forces companies to suit the needs of the consumer. They've created faux monopolies on their respective industries, something that most hard-lining capitalists with a brain will be staunchly against (because it suppresses the free market).
@@bluntcabbage6042 Cronyism is capitalism. Capitalists own the means of production, capitalists are always in pursuit of capital (and the power that comes with it), so even if an economy starts out with an free market, those more succesfull will always create a state to protect themselves

Selling time to clock and water to a fish feels so relevant now with the cost of everything
Thankfully GPS gives time to clocks for free. Until they mess that up too.

All too true, revolutions, needs to happen sometime. The middle we sleep. But it’s all stacked against the people. 😢😢
It’s not stacked against the people. We’re just indoctrinated into thinking that it is. That we are powerless.
The whole is greater than the part.
