We shall try to consume food which has Indian origin. Apple & Avocado are not from Indian origin. 3. Black raisins must be the one with seeds & not seedless.

Fantastic podcast, I am observing how my body reacts to different food, not what taste good or bad but how it is accepted and assimilated by my body. Sitting down crosslegged, picking up the food with my right hand, chewing the food really slowly at leat 24 times, without talking paying attention to the alive food, it is an experiance of discovery, insight and love. Also my food choice is becoming more and more uncoocked raw vegitarian food. 🙏

Never knew about Swetha Shah before but most of the things she mentioned were regular practices at my home during my childhood, saw my parents n grandparents follow most of these methods. It is me with my modern nonsense screwed my own health n body constitution. Now working my way back to traditional methods.

In 2019, I experienced horrible dry cough, I tried every medication, allopathy and home remedies for more than two months, at last I gave up and decided to eat only khichdi with lots of ghee, I used to have only one meal that is khichdi and within 5-7 days I completely recovered from cough. I never came across the reason why that helped me but now I know, khichdi has healing powers🙌🏻

Traditional Kichidi was made of unpolished rice with whole mung boiled (not so much with the yellow dal) with available vegetables and sort of mashed consistency with ghee tadka of turmeric and pepper and sea salt. They also add half cup of milk. This is how temples too in remote villages in south make. This way, you won't over eat and you have fiber and it slowly digests not making you hungry for next meal immediately
National Institute of Nutrition has updated the calculation of nutrients content of food items this year 2024 & last was on 2020. I am a Dietician & I am following it .

She said no to biryani because as per Ayurveda mixing meat with dairy is a super bad combo, especially for skin. I use coconut milk for cooking fish or chicken gravy. Very rarely dahi and never milk.

Interesting and informative discussion. However some of the information is incorrect. Calorific values of foods including fruits are periodically reassessed. Unfortunately in India the only reliable sourced is the National Inst. of Nutrition. They do not update the data regularly. It would also be good if nutritionists like these gather data (anonymized, and with consent) from people who take their programs and publish results from that. It would add so much more value.

This is how i prepare khichdi: Soak 1 cup Toordal for an hour. Wash 1 cup surtikolam rice / sonamasoori rice. Then add toordal , 1 cup moongdal (split , without skin) , 4 red chillies long split into two , small piece of cinnamon sticks, 3 cloves, 2 spoons of jeera, 1 spoon turmeric two tomatoes cut into 8 pieces each , 5- 6 cups of water and pressure cook for three to four whistles. Aroma fills the kitchen . Then Tadka: put little oil in a big kadai , fry few curry leaves, 1 bay leaf add the pressure cooked ingredients , add more water (khichdi in liquid form is more delicious!) . Add salt to taste , Keep churning on low flame for 3-4 minutes , add 3- 4 spoons of ghee and freshly cut coriander(kottambari soppu) leaves . Eat/serve it hot . It's heaven on earth . Note: Freshly cut onion , green chilli,crushed ginger, salt, beaten curd raitha with a sprinkle of chat masala will be sone pe suhaaga combo with this khichdi 😊😊😊

What does she mean by ‘body mein vitamin D ke packet nahi hain?’😮 Lady.. please go back to the physiology of vitamin D metabolism in the body. There are no packets but sunlight is paramount in activating the enzyme required to produce vitamin D3. 😮 As a medical doctor - my suggestion- please stick to your discipline. Thank you for this very informative podcast I have one question if you can get clarified please - i add besan, barley atta, ragi atta etc to wheat atta while making chapati to increase nutritional value and roughage. Madam said body gets confused digesting multi grain atta .. but don't we have roti, dal-rice, vegitables, salad etc together in our traditional Indian meal. If body can digest that then why not multi grain chapati? This is a genuine question because I have to act accordingly

This is how i prepare khichdi:
Soak 1 cup Toordal for an hour.
Wash 1 cup surtikolam rice / sonamasoori rice. Then add toordal , 1 cup moongdal (split , without skin) , 4 red chillies long split into two , small piece of cinnamon sticks, 3 cloves, 2 spoons of jeera, 1 spoon turmeric two tomatoes cut into 8 pieces each , 5- 6 cups of water and pressure cook for three to four whistles.
Aroma fills the kitchen .
Then Tadka: put little oil in a big kadai , fry few curry leaves, 1 bay leaf add the pressure cooked ingredients , add more water (khichdi in liquid form is more delicious!) . Add salt to taste , Keep churning on low flame for 3-4 minutes , add 3- 4 spoons of ghee and freshly cut coriander(kottambari soppu) leaves .
Eat/serve it hot . It's heaven on earth .
Note: Freshly cut onion , green chilli,crushed ginger, salt, beaten curd raitha with a sprinkle of chat masala will be sone pe suhaaga combo with this khichdi 😊😊😊

I always only eat two meals too send I have gear ka khan too this interview is just the best I've seen so much informative information and vital for diet. really enjoyed this top so much and has gave me more strength to continue what I eat and how I eat all.the foods she says except papaya I take and she's right you shoud never mix foods to confuse the body. Have sabzi and nothing buy sabzi and so fourth. vatta and kappa if not sure can you make a full episode of this, my body loves warm things I hate cold stuff majority of the tines unless too hot in summer. with vatta it's true they can't sit in one place yes I talk a lot and yes I like to travel yes she explained vatta 100% perfect. But we have to know our body to protect it, and eat right food omg she explained me perfectly so what advice would you give to me if you can reply please do you have book I can purchase please

Lady.. please go back to the physiology of vitamin D metabolism in the body. There are no packets but sunlight is paramount in activating the enzyme required to produce vitamin D3. 😮

I have one question if you can get clarified please - i add besan, barley atta, ragi atta etc to wheat atta while making chapati to increase nutritional value and roughage. Madam said body gets confused digesting multi grain atta .. but don't we have roti, dal-rice, vegitables, salad etc together in our traditional Indian meal. If body can digest that then why not multi grain chapati? This is a genuine question because I have to act accordingly
