    Chat GPT is a turbo charger for the Comedy DNA approach. Instead of burning brain cells and motivation to list out stuff you now can spend your time connecting the dots. I've been asking chat GPT to list 50 Celebs related to a subject, 50 cliches related to a subject, 50 facts... Jerry I have owned a copy of Breaking Comedy's DNA for 6 years and I just could not gain momentum with it... I feel like I'm flying at light speed now matching it up with Chat GPT... Thank you, thank you, thank you

    This video is so good. I was avoiding ai for comedy writing, but this is a great way to incorporate it.

    New to this channel, you should do a video on using all 24 methods to finding material. Not sure if you’ve got a video on that, but would be cool.

    Excellent video! Always loved the listing technique, but I do have one thing lingering in my mind... would you agree that even though we have ChatGPT at our disposal, it would be better to make the lists ourselves? I feel like it trains our mind to think about these different ideas related to one thing, and that could help with having a quick flow of ideas, maybe even on stage for instance, if you're crowdworking and wanna say something witty.
    The AI's definitely efficient and could expedite our joke writing, but I feel like training the mind to think might be a better option. I'm open to your ideas on this!

    • @JerryCorley
      @JerryCorley  Рік тому +2

      Good point. I did put a segment in about building the original list from your own mind, because you’ll come up with stuff that ChatGPT can’t because it doesn’t have conscience, a heart or a soul. But ChatGPT is like a thesaurus, a dictionary or a rhyming dictionary.

    I really like this video so many good ideas. I use ChatGPT to generate ideas for scenarios for improv. It’s really good. One thing …. I think it would’ve been good if the video didn’t use examples relating to strippers etc.. (blue) because it would’ve been better for a wider audience. That’s just my opinion and I don’t mean any disrespect. Really appreciate your generosity sharing your expertise

      There were other non-stripper jokes. I don’t limit myself especially in the first pass with material and you shouldn’t either. I’m a joke writer, not a priest.

      I get you. But censoring yourself during idea generation is a good way to kill your creativity in it's embryonic stages. You initially let your mind do what it does to come up with the surplus of ideas. I guess he's allowing this to be reflected in the video so we can see how it works in real time. There are only bad ideas during edits, never during experimentation.

    I wonder if this is how 247newsroom writes their scripts?

    • @JerryCorley
      @JerryCorley  Рік тому +1

      All television newsrooms mostly write their scripts from printed news media. They take those stories and rewrite them to be spoken rather than read. I wouldn’t be surprised if they use some kind of AI for that purpose. With joke writing, I use the listing technique for writing Late Night T.V. style jokes but then I would revise the joke to fit the voice of the host
