Thank You soooo much. Your Template is helping me quiet down the 10,000 jokes in my head, and get them on paper. They were having a royal rumble match in my mind. Some running in, new intro music, one gets a 2 count on the mat, one getting thrown out, two throw it back in, then the referee joke, jumped on them. Thanks for "Being" here for us. Gratitude.

Just Write: Write what is on your mind, warm up before you play, write with no pressure. You can't go wrong. Then focus on making comedy material. 5 Tips, there are no limits to how dark you can go in your writing session.
I had already been writing things down and dictating ideas on my notepad on my phone when I’m out and about, so I don’t forget them, but it’s good to get validation and confirmation. This is the second time I’m watching this videoto keep it fresh in my mind. Thanks again.
Right on Gary 'Get them laughing straight away' is just so important. I've watched many a show go down the pan because an audience didn't know if and when they were allowed to laugh. Honestly it happens, miss the moment and you can lose them for the whole set. It happens to the best of comics like young Gary here. If you're lucky there'll be 'laugher' or better still a giggler but don't count on it. It's your job to let them know that yeah, it's okay to laugh.
Thank you so much for this video. My name is Evgeniya and I am a girl from Ukraine who has always loved to make people laugh. In my country, comedy has started to develop very rapidly and wonderfully, and I dream of being part of this movement. At the moment, my desire to learn how to do stand-up is so strong that it's hard for me to sit still (I barely watched the video to the end). I hope I won't give up on this class as quickly as I give up on everything I do for more than 15 minutes. Thank you!
hey, nice to meet you. I started also recently and what really helps me is to set 20 min on my phone to write jokes and then mind just thinks about that. I feel I become more focused :D
I’m not a standup comedian, more of a dream than anything. I’ve actually been doing number 7 for over a year now and have a ton of joke premises and concept that I need to actually go through and try writing out.
Thanks for commenting. Stand up is a fantastic dream to have. Currently there aren't many options for performing due to Covid however this will pass and you'll have plenty of opportunities and whenever you choose to do it is the right time for you. It took me a few months before I had the courage to give it a go back when I started, although it took a while I gained more material throughout that time and was even more hungry for it when I eventually took the dive. I'll continue to upload videos and do my best to get you off on the right foot.
Omg so glad I found you. I’ve just been presented as an old person the possibility of being a standup comedian, to make people laugh to make them happier to bring them. Joy is a way to make me happy and bring me joy, because I am finding myself at a fork in the road in my life, where the majority of my outlook is not happy, but the possibility of making people pee their pants, well that certainly will bring me joy and enhance the adult diaper industry which I do have stock in, but AnyWho I’m so glad I found you. You definitely have given me food for thought. Thank you so much.
Many thanks for commenting with such lovely words. I love your passion for stand-up comedy. I'll do my best to hero the quality high on this channel. I wish you all the best in your adventure.

Now that we are married 23 years and after hearing say I would like to maybe persue the thought, she has my bags by the front door. It's amazing what 23 little years can do... Great video, I'm inspired again. thanks

Yes, very informative. I am not a comedian but am interested in how you come up with the script. I agree this is very material heavy. Generous of you to share .
@@tushargupta4262 thanks for commenting. To be honest with you I haven't actually read any books on writing comedy. Hey this was great, but wouldve loved to see you make a mock example of real time writing with the camera pointed at a notebook with a voice over of the 5 minute structure. The talking head style is good but it also helps me to learn by visually seeing what that might look like on paper as a visual learner

I typically think that you need to write your things during the day on your phone and trying to think about the comedy of things that happens in the moments you do whatever you do during the day - and write it down on your phone and that way you're gonna remember lots of things during your past life and you'll be able to add it to your sketch on your phone
Just found your channel. Looking forward to getting through the rest of the videos and finding old acquaintancesin the comments section too. Top stuff 👍.
Thank you for this video! I have subscribed. I did my first stand up comedy and felt the energy of the audience. A lot of people then approached me and said that I was a natural... I'm gonna go all the way! :D
I feel like being a comedian is natural. Your born with it. Your born without it. I think it's the getting on stage Infront of everyone thing that is what kills alot of funny people's dreams. Me, I'm always angry and depressed and one thing that helps me get thru the day is writing ideas down. Like being a first time dad..and how dealing with my own son is like being a hostage negotiator..having to say shit like "ok" yeah your right buddy" take it easy ..take it easy bud" what do you want to come down off that slide maybe I can see what I can do" something like that.
All very true, and it's a nice idea regarding your material. However, tbh, I don't think it's something you're born with. I really think it's understanding perception. I feel that's the key. If you understand how you are perceived by others in a social situation, then you'll do very well as a comic, granted you put in the work. Now, it's possible that a sense of perception might be something your born with, or perhaps it grows with you through social situations. This I can't be sure of.
Just watched this first time seeing your video’s you got the subscribe liked how you’ve broken things down always wanted to do this never had the nerv and didn’t know where to start putting a set together hopes get my first open mic done within the next month or two
Hey Edward. Thanks for commenting. First of a massive congrats on your success on Tiktoks. I'd strongly advise you to perform 5 minutes of comedy on your first attempt. To have a solid 30 minutes of pure stand up takes years, there's no simple way to put it. If you must talk for 30 minutes and don't want to turn the gig down I'd recommend turning it into a talk about your journey on the Tiktok platform and perhaps take questions from the audience. 30 minutes for a first timer is just going to be a bad time for both yourself and the audience. The best and most successful comics working today take many months to create a 30 minute set. Make it easy on yourself and perform a short set they'll enjoy if they already know your style and you'll feel much better about yourself. There's also no shame in saying no to the gig if they demand a 30 minute set. There's plenty of other opportunities with the correct stage time that'll serve you much better. All the best with what you choose to do.
About to do my first Open Mic tomorrow! Very nervous, but excited to get over the hurdle.
I DID IT!

My pleasure. Welcome to the channel. Hope you get loads of value from the videos. Anything I might be able to help with just ask.
Just bought a notepad. Now Dave Chappell is scared to follow me

Super helpful, thanks👍
Really appreciate the comment, many thanks and my pleasure.
I've been asked to come up with a 30 minute set because of my tiktoks. I've never done it before but I don't want to turn down a foot in the door
Thanks for the tip
My pleasure, and thanks for commenting on multiple videos! Delighted you're getting value.
