I am the owner of the boots seen above. Steve is a kind, professional, humorous and artistic soul. His communication was second to none throughout the process. I did not ask for, nor expect to be, the subject of one of his videos--but I am proud to be one of the lucky few to have this privilege. I just wanted my boots redone well enough to see another 14 years of life. These were made in 2006 by Jimmie Luke Covington in Gardner, Massachusetts. Calfskin vamp and combination calf/kangaroo leather shaft. I am originally from Kansas, but life and career took me away from the farm. When I could afford it, I wanted a special pair I could have for the rest of my life. Jimmie made that a reality. Thank you to Steve for his craftsmanship and artistry. He made this a special event in my life. :) And thank you to everyone here for the kind words and debate!
for 100k you should go around your city and find the person who wears the most battered shoes. bring them to your studio, restore them and give them back to him/her. would be kinda of cool to see the owner reaction, putting a smile on a stranger face and giving forward the community. drop a thumb up so steve can see this.
Hey steve! Thanks for doing a great job on my mom’s birthday present sandals! She loved them and couldn’t even tell they were broken in the first place! You are a true craftsman
So impressed with your work on these boots. The gentlemen I knew in Texas as a child wore fine boots. An exquisite pair of boots were the epitome of fine dressing for a cowboy. The boots they wore said a great deal about the man. Your work makes me proud. Thank you for that trip down memory lane.
you did heck of work ! I am telling you it not only turned out pretty good, it turned out even better! Loved your work! "It's hammer time" and you nailed it!
Brilliant restoration workmanship on a gorgeous pair of custom western boots. Love the initials, how you designed and created them. The willow pegs lift this sort of workmanship far above the routine Florsheim and Allen Edmonds. The crafting and installation of the new welt and your sewing were impressive.
As a Cowboy Boot wearer myself, I can really appreciate the work you put into these great boots !!! Great Job Steve, I’d let you work on my boots any day.
Wow Vibram soles ! Gentleman to the end, he advertises for Snellville Shoe Repair because it is not his specialty. As usual the Doctor has done a magnificent job.
I would imagine small pepples working thier way between the layers if you hadn't glued. So ya I am pleased you chose to glue. Beautiful boots for real just beautiful!
Here also, tried searching JL Covington, no results. Did find a contact for Jimmie Luke Covington, Covington Boots in “Elisabeth, CO” per Bill’s comment. Interesting.
Steve the closeup shot look real good.It gives the viewer a chance to see what the process is much better, like on the welt, you can XPLANE IT all you want but i need to see it for myself so i can understand what your doing. Thanks BOB's your uncle.
You did a great job. I live in Texas and own many pair of boots and wish I had someone to go to that does your quality of work. Keep out the good work.
I just got myself 2 small cans of Master all-purpose cement, after watching you. I like it. It does not get super stiff. Some of the other leather glue I used for making a wallet or small nick-nacks, that glue gets so hard it makes the leather not feel natural around the edges. So thanks. Plus I like the logo on the can. It's pretty cool too.
Thanks for showing this time the really detailed stitching. That is much appreciated. What a really fascinating project to watch. The construction of traditional cowboy boots is interesting with its mixture of a short welt and a pegged waist. It was obvious from their construction that whoever made those boots was a master of their craft, as are you. I am so glad that I have found your channel.
I have an old pair of Justin lizards that I hadn't worn in some years because of the lousy repair job done on them some time back. I live not too far from Snellville Shoe and Boot repair so I took them on over for Scott and Zane to do their thing. Well I'll tell ya, new full JR soles, new stack leather heels, complete recondition of the lizard that was dry as the Mojave, the end result was as good as Steve would have hammered out. These boots look new, and weathered. That's what I wanted. If you have cowboy boots that need work, give those boys at Snellville a shout. You won't regret it.
Love your restore video. I just started to build my collection of western boots. It’s kinda depressing to see that mens boots are built with much more craftsmanship (brass pegs, etc) than women. BUT, now I know I can have a professional cobbler rebuild my soles in the future. Thank you.

Hey steve! Thanks for doing a great job on my mom’s birthday present sandals! She loved them and couldn’t even tell they were broken in the first place!
You are a true craftsman
