I think I know why Steve likes Florsheim shoes ,, they are well made, good value for what you pay. I know, I sold them from 1972- 1987. I have also owned Florsheim Royal Imperial. What a great shoe.
It is such a shame people dont become cobblers, leather workers. All people want is a computer job, etc. Why not learn to be someone who works with their hands like you Steve.
Sad but true. But the world we live in is alll about $$$$ with the least amount of energy spent (which isn't a bad thing) but a kid who reviews toys makes more money than everyone in the comments section combined. Steve proves that you can have a good income if you become a master at something. Tailor, cooks, auto detailing, etc. I'm not a shoe lover that would spend $600 on a resize but I'm a car lover that would work with a Singer company to do a Porsche for me (when I can afford it) so there is definitely a market for all these businesses I've mentioned and more.
@@kathryneast6919 i became shoemaker this year, I'm young like 20, got interested in shoemaking since 16 but didn't have money, saved from my work like 2k€ and bought tools, shoe last, leather, it took me 2months to make a pair, I'm happy with it
When his great, great, great, great, great grandson has to replace that sole, the person that has to do it will be grateful for your craftsmanship and consideration.
Hang in there Steve. This too shall pass, and there are happier times ahead. Not gonna lie, I teared up a bit when you made the comment about not having to worry about Zeus' feet anymore.
I'll tell you friend, since COVID hit and now with everything in the world and in politics, I've learned it is best to read a little bit on line and stay away from the TV news entirely. It can beat you down! Truly enjoy your work.
TV is junk anyways, they forgot to be journalists and became dealers for drama. Not worth the time and effort, i don't even have a TV subscription anymore.
aserta , yup, we haven’t had TV for over 10 years now, and sometimes when we’re out and about these days, we feel like the last remaining people with functioning brains.
This is great advice, provided what you're reading online is unbiased and truthful news. If you're only reading Fox News (for one side), MSNBC (for the other), or even worse, unverified theories floating on FB you're not getting unbiased truthful "news".
Mike Schreiner , Fox and MSNBC just pretend they’re on opposite sides. They play at bickering, but they basically agree on almost everything that actually matters (especially the welfare/warfare mega-state).
Haven't had the time to watch in a while, Steve. Really sorry to hear about Zeus - sorry things are as hard right now. Really appreciate the work you put into this. You're great, project a lot of calm energy, always feel at peace watching you work. Thoughts with you and the family.
At first I was like "Lug sole on wingtip Imperials... nah." After seeing the result, I think they look great. Took a more formal shoe and made it very casual cool. Nice job, Steve.
I thought the same... heck it may even be a policy thing at his place of employment?? they might be his favourite shoes that he wants to wear to work..(Next we will see Steve fit steel caps to a pair)
I think they look great too. It would be an excellent choice for an architect/engineer or building inspector who wants to look sharp but needs solid footing on jobsites.
So sorry to hear about your loosing your dog on top of everything else. Thank you for the words of encouragement and perseverance. And thank you for showing another spectacularly crafted project. I quite like the Vibram soles better than I thought I would. A “Boomer” Classic receives a “Millennial” facelift and the customer gets basically a bespoke shoe at a fraction the cost. Simply marvelous. Steve K.
My grandfather use to make men’s suits jean jackets and pants and my aunt still has the exact sewing machines you have in the background. Those are beautiful mavchines. . Wish I could have learned the craftsman ship from him. But he passed when I was a kid. You do an awesome job.
I found a great cobbler near me that does fantastic work. Young guy just getting started in the business. I don’t really need anything done on my shoes right now but I decided to get some sole protectors put on my shoes to help him stay around. Gotta support local craftsmen!
34:35 I HAD A PAIR OF THOSE. Most comfortable shoes EVER. I wore the soles OUT on the streets of New York City, had them resoled, and the next summer wore them working on a project in the Poconos... the nurses I was working with said, "bring your sneakers, we'll go walk at lunch," and I'm like, don't need sneakers, these are MORE COMFORTABLE than my sneakers! Florsheims on the track, baby! I wish they still made'em like that.
My good friend from work had to give his dog up last week because she bit his 8 month old daughter, (she's OK, nothing bad) it's been hard for him and his wife and I can see its been hard for Steve, but it's for the best, I'm glad zeus went to another happy home and Steve and his family are going to be OK.
Steve, sorry about your loss. Regarding this sole, while I would not certainly rock this, it actually seems to work on the all black shoe. It has like a “business commando” vibe going on. I think the customer knows what he was looking for. Would be a kickass office shoe for the winter or during all the madness going on today.
I agree! I remember back in the day hitting the wet terrazzo floor wearing my Florsheim Imperials... all it takes is one hit, and old age to see the wisdom of the Vibrams.
