I grew up watching my dad doing what you do, back home in Bulgaria. He still does this. It feels like home watching you work. He loves ripping the whole shoe open in front of the customer and watching their face expression 😂 It's priceless! But then the reaction when they come pick it up and it looks like a new pair... You gotta love it! 👞👠👟🥿👢
Hey Steve nobody should criticize your hands. My dad was a shoemaker. Your hands look a lot like his used to look. Any time some one mentioned his hands, he would tell them that they were the hands of a surgeon. 👍🏻😂
if only we had youtube back in the 90s all these little fixes could have saved me several pair of combat boots in the Army, fixing little gouges so they could be shined again, great video as always
24 years at Bragg we had some amazing Boot "fixers" and Boot "repairers".....but only a handful of "experts" that could pull the heel and toe counters during the 90's... Retired from USASOC in 2013....Lord knows the number of "tweaked" boots I own......
Rebirth of an Italian classic! Thanks, Steve. The Italians don't take a backseat to anyone when it comes to leatherwork. Armenians are in the front seat as well! This, to me, is one of your finest jobs. Maybe I just really like those shoes, but, man, you knocked it out of the park on this project.
This upload is more than a month old now. But I love seeing your fine work. I would've thought those shoes were needing to go in the bin (trash, don'cha know) and look what you did! Yep, a real trigger day alright: me yelling: No Steve! and you going right ahead and proving what a real craftsman can do. Thank you. (a good lesson).
A fake half-sole blind stitch is such a modern Italian shoe construction method... Now I know why they don't do this on shoes under $500... Great video, Steve! Cheers, man!
Steve is evolving from master craftsman to pure magic. I can't believe some of these projects, the customer is very lucky to have found you. We viewers are lucky also. Thanks.
I love that you find ways to trigger people, the imitation voice is perfect, I chuckled so loud. Thanks for the 50/50 spray bottle tip, restored a pair of Allen Edmonds McAllisters for my cousin for his wedding, the wrinkles and scratches were tedious.
Just half the way through the video and I am gobsmacked. My father left me his pair of Nettleton Spectator shoes and based on this video you may be able to bring them back to life. These shoes were some of his prized possessions. Let's continue :)
My congratulations! You do what you do with a big heart! My great-great-grandfather was probably a shoemaker in the city of Cieszyn, Poland. Maybe that is why today, when I am over 60, I watch the films of the shoemaker so carefully? Well, still not enough. So I keep watching ...
Steve, Rance here, what a transformation! You made a new pair of shoes .... this was a deal at $340.00. Another job beautifully done. Nothing but the "Best from Bedos."
Wow I used to fix the insides of my shoes with cardboard from cereal boxes , they’d feel ok for a couple of days then the holes in the soles would return I’m a plasterer these days with 40 years behind me I’ve just watched you Man .... wo my job entails tricks and patience but you and yours are Amazing ..... I’m not worthy !!!! It’s such a pleasure to get an insight into what a real Artist is all about I will never ever take a pair of shoes for granted again Your quite simply off of the scale !!!! Those poor old abused shoes must absolutely Adore you 🤗🤗🤗🤗
Steve any chance you could do a detailed video on how to care, condition wax etc leather shoes? What are some things to use and what steps to do in which order? I’d be most grateful. Thanks, Matt
Matt definitely check out Kirby Allison’s channel, the Elegant Oxford is another one as well. You have to be patient, use references as a guide and ultimately figure out what works best for you. Be patient, it is worth it!
To me this is even more impressive than yesterday’s video where you replaced the soles of those new Alden shell Naval boots. The care you took in the restoration of the leather uppers is just immense and the transformation was absolutely fantastic!!! Such a master craftsmen, TYFS!!!
I had to chuckle when you made the remark about making the leather happy. I've been watching you for about a year or more and I can see you have grown and have become more relaxed and there for we get to see your personality come through. It's all good ! Enjoy so much watching you do your craftsmanship work and now getting to know the real you better here on UA-cam.
Thanks to your videos, I will from now on invest in a quality pair of shoes and looking forward to have a cobbler fix them. I am in awe at your passion and craftsmanship! Cheers from Norway 🍻
Don't know what's wrong with me, but I can watch your videos and haircut Harry's videos all day long 👍 Thanks for the relaxed and informative display of skills
Beautiful result Steve! Love the blue dye on the JR soles and the dovetail heel cap treatment. Owner will be proud to wear those Ferragamos for years to come.
More than presentable, you worked a miracle with these shoes and made them better (and sturdier) than new. I love watching your handbag videos especially, but this one is now in my top 5, because you showed us how you transformed the uppers. I'm sure the customer will get many more years of wear out of these and he must have been very happy with the way they turned out. Beautiful job!
This came up on my recommended. Super interesting/skillful work you do. You’re very good at explaining what you’re doing. It’s very entertaining to watch even though I don’t plan on doing this type of work. Lol
I think this is the most interesting video about the refurbishing of a pair of shoes, the other of great value as these Ferragamo. Technique and great experience confirm the title of the video. Excellent job, Steve.
They looked even better in person! Can’t wait to see what you can do with my wife’s poor Acorn slippers. We looked...I bought those for her right around the time she did chemo back in 2008, so 12 years old 🤣
I've soaked my face with your suggested anti wrinkle recipe, and folded my granny face lines the opposite way......... No difference what so ever !!!!!!!!
I thought the same thing, but then I figured I earned those lines. The smile lines, the laugh lines, I enjoyed getting those. I still hide the wisdom highlights in my hair though!
Breaking out the Ferragamo's! Now were getting somewhere. Incredible job as always. You're a magician. That is an insane transformation. Have a pair or two will be headed your way!
Damn... Those shoes look brand new. Well done! I like that you share the costs to restore/rebuild these shoes. I find it humorous when you poke fun at the trolls who post stupid comments in your videos. I love folks commenting on your hands or fingernails. Um, he works with his hands for a living? Should his hands look like a hand model? Again, nice work in restoring those shoes, they really look new.
All across the country, cobblers are suddenly deluged with orders for resoles with JR soles, dovetail heels, and blind stitching, and they're wondering why the hell so many customers suddenly seem to know these trade terms so well.
Hello my friend.... watching your show, brought back memories. Growing up, I would hang out with the local cobbler in our neighborhood. Just watch him work... everything you use ,from the machines, buffers and all the tools , he used... to this day, I will not leave my house, unless my shoes are shinned. Growing up, I would shine shoes as a kid... my mother would give me her nylons that had runs in them... I would end the shinng using the nylons.. Great memories... love your show.... Thank you, William Louis....
Wow... Amazing work. There is a little bit of a double up on a part of the video. Where you’re talking about the dying and buffing and conditioning of the leather.
Quality shoes well worn and not taken care of, he polished and cleaned and worked on it all to get back to the quality, and brought them back to NEW! Would not have worked as well if they were cheapie shoes ..Bravo! Well done!
Hello steve well this video has left me speechless , which doesn’t happen very often as my darling hubby would say 😂, you have transformed a pair of battered old shoes into an absolutely amazing pair, love your videos, you make me laugh at your banter so very best wishes from Reading England 🏴 xx❤️
Hey man, bondo and body work for boots, who knew! Steve o will never be repairing shoes but I learn a lot from being able to watch how you deal with leather, deconstruction and restructure. Thanks man.
Steve: Really enjoy seeing you putting your heart and soles into the shoes you work on. I've got some grandma's goose grease for your squeaky machine...
Steve makes the world a better place one project at a time! Great job on those Ferragamo shoes (and a good way to limber up for tackling a pair of burgundy shell Imperials). ;-)
Steve Wow I can’t believe you have a Minas Polychronakis apron. He was a good friend of the family and a Legend Cretan Cobbler in NYC . I’m so glad you gave a shout out!
Love your work! After watching your videos I'm going to invest in some good shoes...i like seeing how a quality shoe is built. People spend several hundred dollars to repair and restore them for a reason. Keep em coming!

👞👠👟🥿👢
Nodding .. yes !
The #1 thing I have learned from Steve -- if it ain't right--
Take it apart
No fear.. just redo it
Поздрави !
My cobbler does the same, I always have a mini heart atack when he does that lol
I can’t believe the before and after pictures. That’s insane. Amazing job.
Wow I worked for Ferragamo for two years and a lot of shoes had that half blind stitch! This is one of the best restorations I’ve ever seen
Hey Steve nobody should criticize your hands. My dad was a shoemaker. Your hands look a lot like his used to look. Any time some one mentioned his hands, he would tell them that they were the hands of a surgeon. 👍🏻😂
Very good ....hands of a surgeon. Well said!
MORE than just presentable Steve. As an amateur restorer of old Corvettes, I love seeing a tatty object brought back to life. Nothing more satisfying.
if only we had youtube back in the 90s all these little fixes could have saved me several pair of combat boots in the Army, fixing little gouges so they could be shined again, great video as always

I don't know what I like to watch more, the shoes coming back to life...or the magic he does with the purses. Truley an artiste!!
I don’t know why but I love watching Steve do his magic - a true craftsman
i would have loved to see the owner unpack those shoes. they turned out amazing. you are a miracle worker

Hard to believe it’s the same shoe, very well done!!!

I and especially my shoes would like that too.
Matt definitely check out Kirby Allison’s channel, the Elegant Oxford is another one as well. You have to be patient, use references as a guide and ultimately figure out what works best for you. Be patient, it is worth it!

Kirby was my inspiration
To me this is even more impressive than yesterday’s video where you replaced the soles of those new Alden shell Naval boots. The care you took in the restoration of the leather uppers is just immense and the transformation was absolutely fantastic!!! Such a master craftsmen, TYFS!!!
I will believe my eyes Steve - as a 'maker' I adore watching you work and everything you have filmed has shown you are a master-craftsman.
I had to chuckle when you made the remark about making the leather happy. Very presentable in fact ! Especially I appreciate the tapered inner angle of heal. Not often seen but well appreciated by the users.
Beautiful result Steve! Love the blue dye on the JR soles and the dovetail heel cap treatment. Owner will be proud to wear those Ferragamos for years to come.
i don’t know why i am here.but it’s satisfying to watch the details and efforts. thumbs up!

Finally managed to watch this properly. For some reason I could only watch 3 minutes and not the full video. The end result is phenomenal. Great job
I fixed it
That nice cool-toned brown with that brilliant cobalt looks stunning!! 💙🤎
It’s a pleasure to watch an acomplished and dedicated professional! !!!!!!
Hi Steve, how are you? The two pairs you did for me are still going stronger 👏
AWSOME
Incredible! An amazing difference. No exaggeration to say you brought those shoes back to life. A shoe resurrection!!
Great Job you really brought them back from the dead they look excellent
This came up on my recommended. Super interesting/skillful work you do. You’re very good at explaining what you’re doing. It’s very entertaining to watch even though I don’t plan on doing this type of work. Lol

Beautiful work and night and difference!!! And the half blind stitching looks so cool!!!!
They looked even better in person! Can’t wait to see what you can do with my wife’s poor Acorn slippers. We looked...I bought those for her right around the time she did chemo back in 2008, so 12 years old 🤣
That's not a shoe repair. That's a work of art.
I could probably guess what song is playing in your head from the rhythm of the sound of your cutting knife to that sole. Stiev you are the man.sir !
I've soaked my face with your suggested anti wrinkle recipe, and folded my granny face lines the opposite way......... No difference what so ever !!!!!!!!
lol....I think the secret is in the alcohol soak......50% Gin to 50% tonic. You may still have some granny face lines......but you won't care. ; )
😂😂😂
I'm on it 😖 !!!!
I thought the same thing, but then I figured I earned those lines. The smile lines, the laugh lines, I enjoyed getting those. I still hide the wisdom highlights in my hair though!
It may only work on Cow hide. Not human skin!!! LOL
Sir, you are an artisan, a pleasure to watch and learn from you
I love when you say at the end... I think they look presentable... when we are saying HOLY CRAP. Amazing Job!
Steve is type of guy I want to send best high-end footwear to rip them apart and make them better.
Good craftsmanship!
This guy, 2 days in a row. How cool. Awesome! Let's get started.
Amazing! Bringing shoes back to life is your specialty Steve!
First time I could see such a great work...my compliments!!!!!!!! You are a great artisan
" it turned out okay" !!!? This is AMAZING! Great work!
Breaking out the Ferragamo's! Now were getting somewhere. Incredible job as always. You're a magician. That is an insane transformation. Have a pair or two will be headed your way!
Thank you for explaining things in detail! Like .. that you have to move the rag each time you apply acetone. 👍🏻
There is so much information in this video! Thank you so much. You seem like a very sweet person and I like your sense of humor.
Wooow! I watched this whole video just to see the finished product, and it came out great!
Damn... Those shoes look brand new. Well done! I like that you share the costs to restore/rebuild these shoes. Wow, what a transformation! Imagine the foot joy when he slides those on. Great job Steve.
The transformation on these, WOW! Awesome job, Steve!!
I appreciate you including the cost of repairs. Another incredible transformation!
Definitely this guy is a sample of what it is to love his job. My respects and admiration.
All across the country, cobblers are suddenly deluged with orders for resoles with JR soles, dovetail heels, and blind stitching, and they're wondering why the hell so many customers suddenly seem to know these trade terms so well.
👌Grew up watching my grandad doing dis job, he was a cobbler.
Beautiful work as always. My grandfather was a shoemaker and it's a great skill to have!
What an artist. Better than most of the crap passing as art in galleries today.
Presentable is what I have, these are amazing and your work is immaculate.
How the heck does anyone downvote this? That's an awesome transformation Steve!!! You da man!
Right??? I think it’s personal, anything I post they’ll give a thumbs down. Screw it.
Best video in months - love it!

There is a little bit of a double up on a part of the video. Where you’re talking about the dying and buffing and conditioning of the leather.
I did edit it so it will be a few hours before UA-cam changes it
Fantastic effort. Such workmanship!
Great video! Amazing restoration on them! They look next to new. Awesome job keep the videos up and coming!
Quality shoes well worn and not taken care of, he polished and cleaned and worked on it all to get back to the quality, and brought them back to NEW! Would not have worked as well if they were cheapie shoes ..Bravo! Well done!

I love the half blind stitch look. We , mere mortals, get to admire the finer details.
Your work is peerless ! The Ferragamo's look better and are put together better than factory . Fine cobbling
Crazy! Nice work!!! What patience. What an artist!!!
Wow! That final before and after shot truly demonstrate your mastery of shoe repair. Well done! Btw you’re holding the hammer upside down. 😂
You made a brand new pair of shoes!! God bless you and your family
Great job!! One of my grandfathers was a cobbler. He was born in 1872 and immigrated to baltimore from Austria-Hungary.
