Hey man you should put “6.0 high idle” in the description so when people search for how to do it this video comes up. I wired mine up a few weeks ago before you posted this video and it was kind of hard to find a good informative video like this.
I did this with one of my upfitters. Love it. I’m in Alabama so it don’t get that cold but it helps and I have a 5 gallon air tank and 2 viair 480c compressors so when I’m using air a lot that helps them run faster without bogging.
I'm finally getting back into the 6.0 game after a 3 year absence. Found your channel, and loving your content. Thanks!! If you ever do a remote starter install, that's something I think is missing from the community...
You can either tap into the pto high idle or the battery charge wire I personally do the battery charge wire it will go in a even higher idle if the batteries have a low charge. If you really want to get fancy you can tap in the pto idle wire and install a resister dial that will give you the option to up the idle even higher
I live in BC Canada witch is more in the North it gets to -40° in the winter this is going to be so helpful when I get my 6.0 thank you very much for the video
Interesting mod! On my 07 6PSD, the high idle kicks in about 1-3 minutes after starting but it only brings the revs up to about 880 or so. Regardless, I just drive the truck gently until it's warmed up.
Ahhhhh, it's soooo cool, I have the upfitters so aux 1&2 are unused 3 does high idle and 4 does led interior lights, planning on doing front facing lights for #1 and rear facing lights with floods on the side for #2 I LOVE FORD FOR THIS
@@Weber023 you can wire it into a switch. That’s what I did to mine. I have also heard that depending on year the wires can be different colours. I forget what colour mine were
I dont need to push in my parking brake on mine. Late 04. And also, mine slowly idles up. Doesnt jump like yours. I wired it to a switch under the dash.
On one of my trucks I can raise the idle up to 2,000 RPM by activating the cruise control and holding the accelerate switch until the engine reaches the desired speed.
I found the link. Is there any chance you will be getting any shirts made with pockets ? Also who do you recommend for fuel filter and oil filter caps? Great tutorial on the High idle installation also.
Hello good morning I'm from Pontiac MI, and I just bought a 2006 ford 350 6.0 powerestroke and I don't know anything about diesel I just found your UA-cam channel and I would like you to do some things to my truck
At this time I’m not taking in any work. However if you are looking for a reputable shop that I stand behind, I would recommend T&a diesel out of Marshall mi. 269-832-6755
ok so i really want to do this as i live in Montana however i do not have a purple wire with a green stripe. i have a blue wire with a yellowish colored stripe could that be the correct wire?
Did it with Blue yellow tracer on my 03 same brown wire you used I turn it to park lights comes on stays on only shuts off if i put headlights on Auto push parking brake does nothing
Run some hotshot secret or archoil in the fuel and oil, probaly a sticky injector or 2 Archoil 6200 ~ fuel Archoil 9100~ oil Or Hotshot secret stiction eliminator ~oil Hotshot secret diesel extreme every 6 months ~fuel Hotshot secret edt - every fill up!~ fuel
I have 2 fords 6.0 diesel and one i bought brand new from the dealer and both my trucks do this naturally when i let them sit at idle for more then 3 mins and the temp gauge is cold and when i touch the brake pedal it will return back to normal idle! This is not nesscary! Trucks already do this!
Correct, the truck in the video has this feature as well. However the benefit of doing this mod is faster warm ups. It will idle the higher than factory and you can bump it into high idle a lot sooner.
Hack.....those piggy back connectors are junk the first wire I'd of used a butt connector......it is a good mod to keep your girl from driving with the park brake on
Wow you guys find ways to just spend money on this trucks lol. Mine goes straight to high idle by itself depending on the temperature outside and I don't like to high idle my semi or my truck on freezing weather I rather plug the block heater
Haha I knew I might get some backlash for scotchlocks. In this location there is no harm in using them, and can be easily removed and wires repaired if I ever decided to remove. I leave the option open for people that want to hard wire with butt splices and heatshrink and even soddering.
The grin after that long crank was priceless
Lol that was funny
We've all had that grin, normally it's in a fast food line lol.
Could have been a whole new video at that point.lol

Seriously. I understand the clickbait approach but there are people searching for this.

There’s a remote starter kit for the 7.3, so I don’t doubt that there’s one for a 6.0.
I just did this a couple days ago. It really helps when she's cold out.
Ok i gotta do this on my 04. Awesome clean setup on this mod LOVE IT BRO!

I’ve done this to mine. Except I wired into one of my upfitter switches. Great little mod for the cold mournings
I live in BC Canada witch is more in the North it gets to -40° in the winter this is going to be so helpful when I get my 6.0 thank you very much for the video
This was already done to my truck, and I really like the feature.
Watched this at work, hooked it up to my aux #4 once I got home, bam. Nice mod for sure!
Watched videos back to back, you’ve convinced me lol. You have my support bro , hell of a build 🤙
One of the first things I did to my 6 liter. If you have the stuff laying around like I did it’s the beat free mod
Sweet! This was awesome! Definitely doing this with my 04 6.0💪😎
I love this mod for late season hunting but at home I just plug in cord at night
I had that on my 06 Duramax 2500 HD that was the best in the winter time I’ll tell you that
Thanks for sharing that. I will try that up here in Alberta
My Clifford remote start has this feature already but yours is cheaper to install. Good video good info.
did this first thing. best mod thus far.
Interesting mod! On my 07 6PSD, the high idle kicks in about 1-3 minutes after starting but it only brings the revs up to about 880 or so. Regardless, I just drive the truck gently until it's warmed up.
Mine too (2006)
If you’ve got a tune it’s easy to put your idle RPM higher
Shirt and Sticker ordered! Truly enjoy your channel.
Thanks you for your support!
Finally got around to doing this .worked well...
Dude you’re doing good on the channel I’ve been working on my square a lot but haven’t been posting much
Ahhhhh, it's soooo cool, I have the upfitters so aux 1&2 are unused 3 does high idle and 4 does led interior lights, planning on doing front facing lights for #1 and rear facing lights with floods on the side for #2 I LOVE FORD FOR THIS
Is the procedure and the wire colors the same for the 2003 6.0? Thanks!
Dude that's a killer freebie mod..
Great info. Just joined the diesel fam. Liked and subbed.
well shown, good job.
I aint ever heard bout this im def gonna look into doing it, it dont get too cold here in northern md but it regularly hits 20 in the winter mornings
Can you wire this into a switch or does it have to be done into the parking lights
@@Weber023 you can wire it into a switch. That’s what I did to mine. I have also heard that depending on year the wires can be different colours. I forget what colour mine were
I don't have a purple wire on my 04 f350? Is it a different color for this year?
Defently gona have to do this, thank for another sweet video
Might have to do this I use a a stick this is nice
Great video. I have the up fitter switches, should I just wire it into one of those?
Yes you definitely can!
Great Vid, thanks!
where abouts are you in Michigan?
Excellent tip. Thanks
Just did this to my 6.0, why does the high idle still turn on when I dis engage the parking brake and turn my lights on
Awesome .....just awesome
hey.. what’s the chances i could get in contact with you for some help doing head gaskets on a 6.0
That a great mod. Thanks
I have an 04 f-550 with a 6spd man and I couldn’t get this to work. Am I missing something?
That's pretty nice
Dumb question, but I assume this only works in Park? Or does neutral work too? And I also assume it drops out while in gear?
Did you say brown wire or ground wire ?
If I use a seperate switch hooked to power dose the e break still need to be on? Just hate even touching that pedal lol
What if you have an 04 and want to hook it up to the light switch also?
I dont need to push in my parking brake on mine. Late 04. And also, mine slowly idles up. Doesnt jump like yours. I wired it to a switch under the dash.
will this work on a 03 Ford 350
Could I just hook that wire up to the factory aux switch in the truck?
Yes!
Can you turn cruise on and adjust idle?
will 18 gauge wire work
Does this work on a manual trans?
That’s just cool. I’m most definitely doing that mod.. Keep up the great work.
With this work for a 2003? And to be more specific I've got the 7.3 but I'd like to be able to do this
Could you do this but run it to one of the auxiliary switches?
Yes!
On one of my trucks I can raise the idle up to 2,000 RPM by activating the cruise control and holding the accelerate switch until the engine reaches the desired speed.
Manual or auto truck... and I assume this is a 6.0?
cummins?
How in the hell did you ever figure THAT out!?!👍🤠
I did it to my to I'm in Alberta Canada it get - 40 and cooler whare I live so I let my truck run 30 min or more at thows temp it helps tho for shore
Where u get the bumper
Have you ever done headers on a 6.0
What about just plugging the block into 110V and it’s all warm as soon as you fire it up.
What are the specs of the wheels you have on the race truck?
04 f250 I do not have a purple/ green wire
I found the link.
Is there any chance you will be getting any shirts made with pockets ?
Also who do you recommend for fuel filter and oil filter caps?
Great tutorial on the High idle installation also.
Most likely will not be getting shirts with pockets. I would stick with oem caps!
Wanting something flashy for caps id go to a custom place they will have nice shit
Awesome thanks :) what does it bump the rpm to?
1100 to 1200 rpms
I have factory upfitter switches is it the same concept for the wire behind the switch panel or is it a different color wire
Basically you would wire that wire under to your upfitter switch. Then depress e-brake to the point light comes on and then flip switch on.
@@LeftLaneDiesels just got it done! took me maybe 10 min thank you!
Hey could you do this on a 01 with a 7.3?

@@LeftLaneDiesels thanks
Just got my first diesel, ‘04 6.0 so I’m a newbie. Does this cause any harm to the engine?
Yes it will melt down the engine if left on longer than a minute
Are you going to ve doing any hats
Soon enough, but shirts are my primary focus.
ok so i really want to do this as i live in Montana however i do not have a purple wire with a green stripe. i have a blue wire with a yellowish colored stripe could that be the correct wire?
What year is the truck?
It’s an 03’
Yes for an 03 it's the blue with yellow tracer.
Did it with Blue yellow tracer on my 03 same brown wire you used I turn it to park lights comes on stays on only shuts off if i put headlights on Auto push parking brake does nothing
Im thinking of putting an intruprt switch in the jumper wire
Where u at in michigan I'm from the mt pleasant, midlamd area. Be nice to connect with another fellow 6.0h enthusiasts
Southern Michigan Jackson/Ann arbor area
@@LeftLaneDiesels no shit I grew up in Jackson right on Cooper st small world for sure
Hi - is it the same wire for the 2005 Ford Excursion 6.0?
Yes!
This isn’t factory? 06 duramax has that in the steering wheel settings somewhere
My 6.0 has a god awful fuel smell behind the exhaust and is throwing fuel out of it, it’s not smoking though. Do you know what may be wrong?
Run some hotshot secret or archoil in the fuel and oil, probaly a sticky injector or 2
Archoil 6200 ~ fuel
Archoil 9100~ oil
Or
Hotshot secret stiction eliminator ~oil
Hotshot secret diesel extreme every 6 months ~fuel
Hotshot secret edt - every fill up!~ fuel
Also check ficm voltage should be 47 ~ 48 volts anytime key is in on position or truck is running
It's more than likely a cracked injector tip.
It would be easier just to put it to an auxiliary switch so you don't have to have your parking lights on
How long does it normally take for the high idle to come on?
Once wired it shouldn’t take more than a few seconds.
@@LeftLaneDiesels No I meant without doing this mod. On a stock truck how long does it take for the high idle to kick in without using a switch?
Roughly 3-5 minutes.
@@LeftLaneDiesels Thank you. 👍
I love your videos. Keep up the awesome work man! 😎
Where is the website link?
In the video description!
What size wire did you use
Just needs to be a similar size wire. 12-18 gauge would be fine
Anyone know how to do it on a manual truck
Yo left lane what is your ig bro ?
Look in the description of my videos!

Good video just not a fan of the scotch locks.
Don't forget ground wires....( powerstoke help.com) if you don't ground your transmission, it will ground itself to itself.
I just did mine iff of this vid and it wrks fine without ground
Hack.....those piggy back connectors are junk the first wire I'd of used a butt connector......it is a good mod to keep your girl from driving with the park brake on
Will this work on the 03-04 6.0s?
You will have to verify on your harness. Some trucks yes some trucks no.
you don’t even need to do anything like that because if you push the parking break down it’ll do the same thing
My 2006 6.0 does this automatically... Must be a year thing.
No it is not your taping the ambulance pkg for the high idle that's like 200?rpm higher then the auto high idle
Why do you refer to your truck as the "tow pig"?
It’s the workhorse, hauls a camper, race truck around, wood etc..
@@LeftLaneDiesels "tow pig" seems to be a Midwestern/ northern midwest phrase
Anyone who uses a T-tap connector should get a mandatory five years in the big house.
A 6.4 starter
🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
come on man, don't use t-taps on your factory wires

Get in the freakin truck and drive it.
Are the wires and process the same for a 04 excursion?
are the wire colors the same in the 2003 6.0 F250?
I dont think sk i cant find that wire in my 03
@@vtaapiiaa969 I used a blueish one with green stripe. But it turns on everytime I turn the lights on. Regardless if the E brake is pressed or not.
