@housetalk1636 Thanks for the video. I had the same issue with my GE profile microwave and I was able to fix it keeping the old trim. One question, how did you screw the trim at the bottom? There is nothing to hold the screws for me as the bottom bracket is taken out. It's now loose and slides when I open the microwave door.
I used 2 stainless steel oval head screws that were long enough to reach the my wood frame of the microwave enclosure. I predrilled the holes through the frame and the wood.
Great video! I also have a GE Profile Microwave that failed and needs to be replaced - the old microwave had a metal frame/stand attached to the microwave as well as a metal duct running over the top of the microwave to direct air flow and moisture. With your solution, without the metal duct, do you have any issues with moisture getting trapped and accumulating in the wooden cabinet?
If I recall the were 3/4” MDF Trim pieces but any type of wood will do. I also used a small shim piece to center it in the opening. Your installation may or may not need the shim.
I just did this same thing but for some odd reason mine isn't fitting like it should. Like the microwave seems to be not square inside it's space and is leaning a little toward the back.
There are two "U-shaped" clips at the top that hold the trim in place. Go to the video and stop it at 2 minutes and 11 seconds to see them. Just grab each side at the top and pull outward.
Thank you!@@housetalk1636 Ours went out and I finally decided to replace it. The new GE has a different trim face but I did not want to damage this one in case it also worked. The trim piece alone is over 200 dollars!
The 2 bottom front screws... screw into the spacer boards that are screwed to the cabinet. Or... you can use 2 longer screws that will go through the trim and the spacer boards together.
HI I HAVE THIS EXACT MODEL AND IT JUST WONT START THE TIMER WORKS THELIGHT COMES ON IT JUST WONT START WHEN YOU PRESS THE START BUTTON HOW DOES THAT TRIM PANEL COME OFF?
Great one Doug!

It's been about 1.5 years since I replaced this MW and so far no moisture issues.
@@housetalk1636 Thanks for the quick response. Great to hear that it is working well!
Just answered mynquestion
Genius
Thanks for video. Great job. Very helpful.
I thought this would work for me but my trim kit doesn’t fit on the new microwave. 😭
How thick are the wood pieces you used under the microwave? Is that all those are is wood pieces cut to fit?

Can you adjust the feet on the microwave to compensate for the tilt back?…maybe add shims or washers under the back feet to level out the unit.
How do you remove the actual trim piece? are there tabs that hold it in place?

How did you stop it from sliding around or back into the cutout?

At 2:11 seconds into the video you will see two horizontal clips of the trim that snaps the top in place. The bottom should be screws.
Great video, do you remember the model number of the replacement microwave?
Lowes - GE Model #JES2051SNSS
@@housetalk1636 thanks, I found it off the pics but great to get confirmation
And while I have you, it looks like the trim just pulls off and then you can access the screws to uninstall the old Microwave, true?
@@JonRoskill It's been a while. If I remember the top clips in and the bottom has screws.
The width on this suggested replacement t looks to be wider than the older model. I struggle to see how the existing trim kit would work.
