    This week, we install a built in microwave. This is a great option for when you have a hood over your range or stove. This way you do not need to have a countertop microwave. The built in microwave also looks very high end and sleek in the kitchen. Make sure to also buy the associated trim kit for your microwave to finish off the installation.

    This was so good! I sell these for a living & it’s very difficult because there’s so many different sizes & cabinetry configurations to understand. I grasp the concept so much better now.

    This was really good man! Thank you. I've read some very negative reviews about the trim kits not fitting properly but after watching your video it seems like the manufacturer (particularly Samsung) had made it so their trim kit is flexible enough to fit most installations. There will likely need to be a little cabinet opening adjustment to make things fit properly. This was an eye opener! Thanks again

    Good video. But wheres the venting? Most trim kits come with venting with the trim kit that kicks the venting to the front of the trim for ventilation. Each model varies with the venting, but trim kits come with them

    Nice vid. Just bought a place and love the reno's you had done so far. Really DIY friendly IMO. I would be needing to get a builtin soon and it is interesting to see the trim kit section as mine is "non" standard to the sizes I have seen down under.

      Thank you! Glad you have been enjoying the videos! Another option to consider is a drawer style microwave. They are a lot more expensive but the opening is at the top and they slide out like a drawer hence the name.

    This is so helpful! Question: what about the venting? How do I make sure there is proper ventilation in the cabinet?

    • @GoldenKeyDesign

      I’m glad you found it helpful! If the microwave is a built in version it will normally have venting out the front, so you don’t need to do anything. Just make sure not to install an over the range or countertop microwave inside the cabinet 😁

    Excellent video. I have a trim kit for my new microwave, what I need are the brackets or rails that you use to raise the microwave inside the cabinet. Do you know where I can buy those? Thank you

    • @GoldenKeyDesign
      @GoldenKeyDesign  Рік тому +1

      Thanks! In all the kits I have installed, the rails come with the kit. It is usually a full package of the trim piece and all the metal hardware needed for the install. I would contact whoever you bought it from to make sure you got all the parts.

    My trim kit came with a top metal piece that you screw into the cabinet, do I really need that? My cabinet hole is 1/4 inch too short, so can i just notch for the kit to fit or do i need to shave the whole top off 1/4 inch?

    • @GoldenKeyDesign
      @GoldenKeyDesign  Рік тому

      I would install it per the manufacturer instructions with the top piece. You should shave off the 1/4”

    In terms of dimensions, if I am buying 27inch trim, then what size Microwave and what size cabinet opening I should leave ? Also, is it must to buy Built in MW to go under the island ?

    • @GoldenKeyDesign
      @GoldenKeyDesign  Рік тому

      Each microwave is a bit different so it depends. You must find a microwave that is meant to be built in as the ventilation is different for on the counter and above the range microwaves. But the size of hole depends on the brand. I linked some in the description if you can’t find any.

    Hi, Don't we need some ventilation for the microwave?

    • @GoldenKeyDesign
      @GoldenKeyDesign  2 роки тому +2

      Good question! Built-in microwaves have ventilation on the front of the unit as they are meant to be enclosed

    How does one uninstall?

  • @mattskrepnek3136

    I recently had one installed but the microwave slides back when I press the door button, are there screws missing on the install?

    • @GoldenKeyDesign
      @GoldenKeyDesign  Рік тому +1

      First question is: was it a built-in specific microwave? I’ve seen some where a on-the-counter or above-the-range microwave is used and those are not meant to be built-in. Second question: was it properly installed? As you mentioned, a screw may be missing or the rails weren’t properly secured. Regardless, it should not be moving when you push any of the buttons.

    • @mattskrepnek3136
      @mattskrepnek3136 Рік тому +1

      @@GoldenKeyDesign I figured it out, the rails weren't parallel and this prevented the feet from sitting into the notches. Thanks for responding so quickly!

    • @mattskrepnek3136
      @mattskrepnek3136 Рік тому +1

      I think you are correct though as it's most likely a counter model with a trim option, and likely isn't the best fitting design as it doesn't screw into place like the one in your video.

    What size trim did you buy 27 or 30?

    • @GoldenKeyDesign
      @GoldenKeyDesign  Рік тому

      I bought 30” since the cabinet width is 30”. Only but 27” if your cabinet is that size or if you want the trim to not extend to edges of the cabinet. Hope that helps!

    No idea who started to cramp a microwave oven at that location within a kitchen isle?
    a) you can't really see what’s going on within it (hey, there’s a "window" guess why!)
    b) it's kinda annoying to put stuff into it, even more getting (hot!) stuff out of it bc…
    c) you have to knee in front of it (guess why he’s doing this the whole time while installing it)
    The/your individually perfect height for a microwave?
    If you can put a soup dish (filled to the brim) into it without bowing your back or knees.
    HTH
    PS. installing it to high is even worse!
