Hey everyone, thank you so much for watching! I can’t tell you how much I appreciate it. As always, if you dug the video, “liking” it really does help spread it to more people! What are your thoughts on the Yakuza franchise? I wanna know!
I started playing through the Yakuza games properly at the end of January, and since then ive completed 0, Kiwami, Kiwami 2, 3, 4 and Judgment. I've certainly burnt myself on them at the moment, but keen to get back to it once I'm feeling up to it again. It was one of those franchises that took me a couple tries with Yakuza 0, but now I get it 😂
It took me a minute to get it too! I can relate to that. Yeah, you definitely need a break between games or the burnout starts to hit. I just started Lost Judgement and I'm glad I've given myself some time between the last one I played. If you can push through 5, I think you'll really love 6, it's my favorite in the series!
The reason why I love the Yakuza series is because, it's already worth playing just for its incredible story. The characters make you feel for them, believe them, relate to them. The boss fights are very memorable, the games makes you hate the bad guys so much that you just can't wait to smash their faces. The sidequests are great too, they are completely opposite to the story, the story is incredibly serious while the sidequests are really goofy just making fun of everything, they're hilarious with many great references. The contrast between the story and the sidequests makes these games 10/10, not to mention how many silly things you can also do if you go exploring, like the minigames.
I agree with all of this! The juxtaposition between the main quest line and the side content never ceases to amaze. Somehow, the games always pull it off. There's just so much to see and do, it's almost overwhelming, but incredibly rewarding!
Started Yakuza Kiwami back in early 2022. At that point I was just expanding my taste in gaming from mulitplayer games,a dn starting to get into singleplayer. The game hooked me form the start, no question. It's a very good game, gameplay is good, story is fulll of drama, and it's open world is arguably the best I've ever experienced. Since then I've been slowly palying through the games and I'm happy to see soemone else talk about it!
That's so awesome to hear!! It is truly a fantastic series and I'm so glad that it's continuing to gain more exposure. I have no idea where they're going to take it next but I can't wait to find out!
Great video. Watching this made me finally go put Infinite Wealth on my steam wishlist. Also interesting to see the difference between Ichiban and Kiryu. From what I remember, Ichiban only beats the crap out of people, whereas Kiryu totally stabbed that guy at 5:45
Thanks so much, Kyoto! I think you'll be very glad you did. Yeah, they're so different. Ichiban possesses a naivety that Kazuma almost never shows. Yeah, Kiryu generally isn't one for killing people, which makes the heat actions all the more absurd, haha. The tonal shifts in these games are insane!
Loved the video Wils! It's my favorite one yet! I've also been a huge Yakuza fan for a long time! I gotta catch up, you are way ahead of me! I also enjoy Judgment 1, and hope to play Lost Judgment soon!
Thanks so much as always, Noble!! You've definitely gotta catch up at some point! Honestly, I think you probably played a role in turning me onto this series originally. And oh yes, Judgement is so good!!
A friend recommended that I play Yakuza 0 this year and I absolutely loved it I played k1 and K2 and Yakuza 3 also loved them but then I couldn't continue I really want to continue with the series but I guess I played too much in span of few days. Can you make a video about gaming burn outs I know it's quite different from the other videos you make but I liked your "hey, it's okay to play video games" video and I would like to see your perspective on the gaming burnout subject. Keep it up
That's a really great idea for a topic! I've certainly struggled with video game burn out, that would be fun to discuss. I'll add it to my list of videos to make, thanks for the suggestion!
As much as I love the japanese voice acting for the games, when I first played yakuza 7, or like a dragon, i played it with the english dub, mind you it was my first yakuza game, but dub haters be damned, kaiji tang knows how to make ichiban feel like a real person. infinite wealth is no different. eventually i'll go back and play both in japanese but just bc english dubs are notorious for having bad direction i feel like yakuza 7 and 8 made up for all of that infamy laid out by previous poor dubs. however i will bend and say the dub karaoke is bad, they did their best. either way this is a really cool video and it definitely reinforced what I loved about yakuza to begin with.
Thank you so much for watching, I'm really glad you enjoyed it! Yeah, to be completely fair, I haven't given the English dubs a proper chance. I should do that at some point, it's just so hard to accept different people voicing these characters, haha. I suppose Like A Dragon would have been a really good place to start...
Yeah, it seems like it's finally getting the attention it deserves! I'm excited to see how that affects the series, given that Sega is likely to invest more money into it. A very exciting time for the franchise :)
