@@Wilson-108 Glad to have raised your interest! Zeno Clash is pretty old, first game from 2009 and very short (only about four hours), second game from 2013 is a bit longer. The prequel Clash: Artifacts of Chaos is from 2023. Really good game, though i went to the playthrough in its entirety without realizing there was an attack from a jump. Not many games out there where inspirations come from both more obscure prehistoric animals and medieval paintings of monsters (stuff like Hieronymus Bosch and the Drolatic Dreams of Pantagruel woodcuts) and other more difficult to define inspirations. It's really its own fascinating thing. Wish you a lot of fun whenever you may get to them, and hope you can spread word on them too. I know a bunch of other weird or more unusual games, like Lost in Random (and its new upcoming game by the rebranded studio, from Zoink! to Moonhood Studio), Papetura, anything by Amanita Design, Wuppo, Tiny Terry's Turbo Trip, My Familiair, perhaps No Straight Roads may count-- but for now i simply hope the land known as Zenozoik and whatever other games you've got on your plate will be a good time.
Wow, what a refreshing list. I can’t say these are games that would ever catch my eye, especially as a fellow “enjoyer of weird” but your descriptions of them definitely have me intrigued, especially with Norco. And these are all indies, which makes it that much more worth mentioning. I think many gamers like to claim they have this intense care for creative, distinctive and unusual titles which, usually indies provide most of its medium for, like the list you’ve provided here. But I feel like it’s only at the death announcement of studios /games such as Media Molecule’s “Dreams” which ended its online support recently. Or PixelOpus, home to the infamous Concrete Genie, where you see many gamers come out the woodwork to protest their disappointment in masses about how indies deserve more recognition and need to be saved, and that of a title that clearly never got as much recognition as it did before it’s studio’s closure. Even though this isn’t a “Top 5 indies” list, I think it definitely highlights just how small most gamers have made their reach in genres outside of the usual Battle Royale/shooter, MMO, or AAA RPG. Even if it’s unintentional, I commend you for lending a voice to the true hidden gems of gaming. Great list, will definitely be checking a few of these out.
Thank you so much, Larson! I'm really glad you dug the list. I love the strange corners of gaming so much, it truly saddens me to see the closure of studios like Pixelopus and more recently, Tango Gameworks (more to say on that in the next video). My fingers are crossed that Media Molecule's next game is a hit, I'd hate to see them shut down. I think there are so many games like this that a lot of people would love if they gave them a chance. They may look obtuse on the surface, but they offer so much value to the medium. I'd love to hear your thoughts if you get around to any of these!
I love weird games of all kind, Edith Finch was a special one that sticks out in my memory though, i highly recommend it to anyone reading the comments its great I also really enjoyed Alan Wake 2 last year, genuinely terrifying survival horror that presents its story in a very Lynchian way; its an absolute delight and was my personal GOTY last year This was also a very enjoyable video, definitely subscribing and checking out more
Thank you so much for the kind words, Penn! I'm super excited to play Alan Wake 2! I haven't gotten around to it yet, but it's in the queue. I'll likely make a video on it once it's complete. I'm so glad you dug the video, welcome aboard! Hope to hear your thoughts on future videos :)
@@Wilson-108 AW1 is mid, it’s great, but it’s 6/10 great The gameplay specifically, for me, is what sucks the most. Alan Wake 2 being a more resident evily survival horror made the gameplay feel MUUCH better
And there's one of my favorite UA-cam voices again. I am SO not the target audience for weird games, but I love your tangible excitement for them nonetheless!
Great video with some great games, even the ones not directly touched on. Norco is also now on my wishlist. As far as weird games, I've recently gotten into Children of the Sun and Dread Delusion. If you play on PC, I recommend checking them out.
Thanks dude! Much appreciated, I figured you'd probably be familiar with some of these. Children of the Sun looks super cool! Sadly, I'm relegated to console currently, but I bet it'll come eventually. You should review Norco when you get around to it!
@@Wilson-108 Also, thanks for putting the name of the games in the bottom left that weren't in the top 5 at the beginning of the video. Would have been a pain to find "Post Void" had you not done that :)
You got it! I got a lot of people asking me about B-roll games in another video so I figured I outta correct my mistake this time around. Post Void is insane, but a lot of fun!
@@Wilson-108 I also highly recommend watching a great video by a UA-camr called Mara titled, "Weird Art, Mixed Media & Unrestricted Access to the Internet". It's a great video talking about weird, "outsider" art, including video games.
Hoping Zeno Clash may be among here! Or the other games by ACE Team (mainly The Eternal Cyllinder).
I actually haven't heard of that game, I don't think! I'm going to look into it :)

Frog fractions 2 is the weirdest I've ever played
I don't think I've even heard of that but I just looked it up and it seems like it's got some serious lore!

Haha, thanks very much for watching anyway, Don! We'll be shifting gears again for the next video, I think it'll be a bit more up your alley...
I'd recommend hylics and strange aeons as weird games.
