I agree wholeheartedly with the tenor of your video: hit or miss, Tango was bold enough to try new things, and that's what keeps gaming alive - not those trite Ubisoft / Bethesda / Activision Blizzard / a thousand other studios "Let's keep it safe, let's do what everybody else is doing, and let's monetize the crap out of it for years to come!" formula. Arkane is another good example of a creative studio getting f§$%ed by the higher-ups who won't take responsibility, and Rocksteady's in trouble, too. If you haven't watched it already, I strongly recommend The Act Man's "The Never Ending Decline of Xbox" video. It's actually hilarious, despite the grim subject matter.

Exactly, innovation and risk are paramount for the industry! Arkane really bums me out, too. I loved Prey, and while Redfall was a clear misstep, I think there were a lot of factors at play there. Absolutely, I think Rocksteady is at huge risk, although it seems like a lot of talent has already left the studio, hopefully to join the new studio founded by the old heads of Rocksteady.
I haven't watched it but I'll have to check it out! There is so much to unpack with Xbox lately, it's insane. I'm tempted to make a video about it all, but I want to focus my videos more on games than the greater industry climate (at least for now, haha).

@@Wilson-108 I can't bring myself to fault Arkane for the travesty that was Redfall. They didn't *want to* make it, they had to. A studio that's famous for high quality single player experiences, consisting of devs that went to Arkane because they want to create high quality single player experiences, gets forced to make an open world live service crapfest, which is why Arkane bled personnel because the devs went elsewhere to be able to do what they'd gone to Arkane in the first place for. Of course Redfall tanked! I don't go to my hairdresser with my flat tire either. And when I do go to my hairdresser, I do so because maybe, I don't know, I want a haircut!
I don't know what's worse: That a talented studio gets misused (like Rocksteady) and has to work for years on a load of crap - time they could've spent working on something good - or that a talented studio delivers stellar work and as a reward gets the axe. Phil Spencer and Matt Booty keep lying through their teeth so much they deserve the Todd Howard award, and should they keep doing it so masterfully, I think the Peter Molyneux award is in order.
Yeah, there's so much happening, if you can't keep up with current affairs (and you'd have to have a crazy output to achieve that), stick to your guns!

Exactly, the Arkane/Redfall situation was so mismanaged. I think development on the game predates the Microsoft acquisition, but still, they should have swooped in and helped right the ship. It seemed like they were surprised that people associated the flop with them. Great analogy, haha.
Both are terrible realities, unlikely to stop anytime soon, I fear :(
I'm really curious to see how Matt and Phil handle this Xbox event coming up in the next couple of weeks...

Tango definitely had a unique style of game to make, though i always found their games clunky. With the exception of Hi Fi Rush, which is amazing.

There's a definitely a certain clunkiness to their games, haha. I'm stoked to try Hi Fi!

My biggest problem with Ghostwire tokyo was for controller the game didn't feel good to play. If I remember correctly the acceleration and deceleration of the aim was all fucked when I played it some bad lag I hadn't experienced in other first person games. Otherwise i would have been into it.

You know, now that you mention it, there was definitely some odd momentum with the aiming. I just kind of got used to it and adjusted haha, but I can see why that would have been annoying!

I have a cousin who works for Blizzard on OW2 that lost many colleagues from the Microsoft, Actvision acquisition. It definitely sucks, but he was moved to hero development where he helps program new heroes, so that's pretty cool. I Definitely need to try Hi-Fi Rush though, looks great!

Wow, that's great for your cousin! Sounds like a super cool position, I imagine many people at Blizzard would love to be in that kind of role.
For sure, I'm excited to play Hi Fi as well! Hopefully the physical version will be available for purchase soon enough.
