I'm deciding between the vcore 95, vcore 98, and ezone 98.   • @Gyswandir
    @Gyswandir 2 роки тому

    First, this is by far the best racquet review video I’ve seen! Thanks for your comprehensive and detailed approach.
    Second, I am playing with the DR at 350gm/SW 326/Bal 31.2 and it is almost perfect. My only problem is I have only 2. So, I want to find something that provides at least the same comfort (have long term elbow problems) and the same power.
    I’ve used the Ezone since Xi (too stiff for me now), Ai (not enough power), and now DR. Only improvements I could ask for over Dr are more serve power and slightly higher launch angle on the FH, without losing the slice and the ability to flatten things out. Is this or the previous version what I am looking for? If not, another Yonex?
    I can’t demo racquets where I live. So, I have to rely on multiple reviews and opinions for making a decision and Andy from TW is the one who helped me to select my previous racquets. In his recent video to replace the Dr, he chose the previous gen, but that was before the new release. So, I am inclined to stay with the Ezones, but would like to know what you think.

    • @ACTennis
      @ACTennis  2 роки тому +3

      Most consensus of people who swear by the DR, is that it's impossible to replace, but i'm not racquet sensitive, no matter what racquet you choose you are going to give up something in compensation to gain for something else
      I can't really recommend something on such specifics because they are attuned to your playstyle and feel, i can only recommend something based on overall general characteristics that you'd want from a racquet - DR was probably a bit more plow, stability (higher stock weight), and better feel - this one is going to be more controlled and subpar feel, perhaps faster in air - DR was also probably better at serving but launch angle may be slightly higher on 2022
      If you are going to switch to anything, keep an open mindset, you will never get anything close to your old favourites, but there is alot of good quality stuff available and you just have to find reasons to love something else without comparison, otherwise you probably should avoid the switch, as you might not ever be really satisfied

    Great review. Totally agree with the analysis. Regarding the spin potential, the string-bed comes in at 1.25cm2 average cell size on my rating, which is definitely at the small end of 16x19s. In fact, some 18x20s are the same (6.1 Team). Weirdly the 16x19 PS97 has one of the most open string-beds (1.45cm2), but doesn't give much spin, so I guess other things lead to spin too.

    Awesome very in-depth review! I love my SV95 and ‘21 VC95 and this ‘22 EZ98 seems to be a great addition in my bag when I’m really tired! However, I am not a thick beam larger headsize kind of guy, as I often found them to be cumbersome and less precise. Compared to your ‘18 VC95, which is smaller and thinner, did you have a noticeable adjustment period with the ‘22 EZ98?

    • @ACTennis
      @ACTennis  2 роки тому +1

      If it's a low swingweight, i dont have any adjustments all, literally picked it up and played quite well - as you add weight to this, then it will become slower than the VC95 by quite alot, since it is fairly thick in the middle, but not sure if it's just the paint job that masks it, but you really don't notice the thickness very much in my view (just visually i mean)
      But i'm same as you, i can't use Ezone 100s, pure drives and stuff to great effect just because they are so thick and i need alot of swing speed to play my technique out

    • @ACTennis

    While my main racquet has been the weighted Vcore 95 2018, I have been using Ezone 98 Tour lately and totally agree with your comparison, more forgiveness and power without losing too much control, and I somehow appreciate this especially against big hitters and matchplay.. feel of Vcore 95 is hard to match anyways in general. I am a bit worried as many have had arm issues with Tour , so far I am ok since I string low and play either with soft poly or hybrid. But I was wondering if you would weight this up , how it would compare to Ezone Tour? i think you like the lower swingweight, but from a comfort point of view? Not sure they have a new Tour coming out...

    • @ACTennis
      @ACTennis  2 роки тому

      Comfort point of view is will be more dampened and plush from memory, it should 'feel' better for arm and shoulder, but whether or not that VDM is just hiding the stiffness and it reveals itself later is yet to be seen
      A weighted one would play if anything more similar than not, maybe if you can leverage the higher swingweight still with your strength than power is attainable, but i didn't use the EZ Tour long term because i lost too much swing speed

    I demoed this racquet and while I liked some aspects (like maneuverability and power) I found the racquet to be very unstable and muted compared to my Prince Textreme Tour 310.
    I also feel that the VDM in yonex "hides" the stiffness as I felt sore in my arm after playing the ezone.

    • @ACTennis
      @ACTennis  Рік тому +2

      Bit difficult compare racquets of 2 different swingweights, since the Prince is heavier with higher swingweight, so there's alot more free stability, Ezone is not necessary stable like those kinds of racquets, but for it's low swingweight and good timing, does pretty decent
      Agree with the VDM, though demo probably had dead strings in it, which dead strings in any racquet can cause issues for me, i feel it in the Ezone when they lose it's lifespan before breakage, so that's when i know it's time to cut it out

VCP is going to be more Pro Staff like in terms of playability, so obviously need to work alot harder for every ball to make pace and spin, but the pace and spin potential is a decent step above the Pro Staff, but very soft feel, like amazingly soft, pretty decent sweet spot size compared to PS97 for it's kind of racquet category - very good for aggressive players that need to control their power

    I currently have a 2020 version with 3g (total) lead tape added to 3 & 9 but I mostly play with the Tour version of it (315g) since it helps more with pick-ups and my single-handed backhand when I'm under pressure.
    I recently tried the 305 again and felt better than before so I bought the 2022 one to give it a go.
    Compared to the 2020 do you think I should add lead tape again? Originally the lead boosted my backhand.

      Generally it sounds like thats what you are comfortable with, you seem to prefer higher swingweight and more free stability, and are strong enough to handle the higher weights
      I keep it low because ill be late with my swing otherwise, and my deep block pick up off the 1 hander is probably one of my best timed shots so no issues for me stability wise

      I may be getting my hands on new Speed MP soon, but i personally prefer the Ezone because of its speed through the air, also one of the best serving racquets on market and i rely heavily on my serve - great control, ability to generate power when needed, enough spin
      Speed MP is going to do mainly similar things to be honest, but id generally prefer the smaller head if i was given the choice, you cant go wrong with the Speed MP - the only thing is the swingweight because of quality control can get out of hand for some people in stock form - so if you decide to buy one, make sure you get it pre measured

    • @ACTennis
      @ACTennis  2 роки тому +2

      My gamestyle would typically match this Ezone much better than the Extreme Tour unless i use a smooth string on the Extreme Tour like Alupower, that gives me more options to flatten out the ball but also impart spin due to the frame itself
      Control goes to Ezone if you hit a bit flatter, Extreme Tour if you're a heavy spinner, feel is better on the Extreme Tour in my opinion, but i would prefer to play with something a bit softer because of my past issues, but it didn't cause me any problems when i played with it - launch angle with Extreme tour is much higher, Ezone is pretty standard 16x19 i.e. pure strike, blade

    What does muted feel mean on a racquet?

    • @ACTennis
      @ACTennis  2 роки тому +1

      It means that when the ball hits the strings, it's hard to tell which part of the racquet you hit, like whether you hit in the middle, off to the side, at the top of the frame etc
      This feedback allows people to adjust their swing or timing because they know they arent hitting it in the middle then, some racquets dont provide people this feeling which is why it will called muted
      For me it doesnt bother me, but theres alot of people that it does bother
