E-ink displays are probably the most unique technology out there
Not really
No they are not, they are one of the unique technologies 😂
More people should know about it as they can reduce their screen time
@@frommarkham424 frfr
Is it long lasting? Bcz I am long term user.
The fact that the E-ink display works just like a normal phone and is also easy to mod is surprising

Indeed… still have fire HDX! Amazing
Still surprised that they make E-ink displays more functional
Hopefully the technology will become a lot better.
Its incredibly useful for things like price tags in stores and ebook readers, they really aren’t going anywhere
@@verycoolzpersonThis is already a significant improvement.
There was no strong mobile CPU when the first eink devices came out, then boom! Fast refresh rates and high ppi
you people are wondering about E-ink features ,,,
in 2010,,, this feature was already introduced in the HTC p3400i ,,, and lenovo A7000,,,
if we switch to power saving mode,,, the mobile display turns into black and white mode...
so called companies will call new features😂😂😂
"put your phone in your bag!"

*starts watching UA-cam on it*
I’m seeing a bunch of e-ink phones come out, but all I want is a modern e-ink smartwatch
that's going to be awesome 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Fossil makes an E-ink smartwatch. I have one and love it. Look up the Fossil hybrid smartwatch and see if it meets your needs. For me, I like the aesthetic of the traditional watch hands with the functionality of step counting, weather and notifications/texts. It's not a full-fledged smartwatch but it does everything I want and the battery life is far superior to typical smartwatches.
A pebble like watch these days, I would love that from samsung or huawei
@@pasta-eo5mtWell yes and my wife has one but i wouldn't recommend buying it. Fossil and all other luxury brands stopped producing smartwatches and already announced, that they won't give out updates forever.
3weeks of battery life is nice though
E ink is cool but I still personally think OLED is better for smartwatches aesthetically and functionally. I can definitely see the appeal for it though given the absolutely absurd battery life it would provide. If there was an option to completely disable the backlight and have an anti glare coating, the OLED would also allow for a very long battery life, not as long as e ink but still great. I'm a fan of fully featured smartwatches and having colors on my watch faces so e ink just doesn't work for me. The fossil hybrid one is probably the best e ink one out there, though I still chose the carlyle one with an OLED and full feature set. Maybe if they invent a color e ink display I'd get one because I'd have all the benefits of both sides then.
On the other hand, something I think that would be cool is a tablet with either a modular screen where you can remove the regular color one and plop an e ink one in there or where there's a regular one on one side and e ink on the other. The e ink would be excellent on battery life and your eyes if you're just trying to read books or online articles or typing out a text document while the color screen would be great for watching videos and doing other productivity related tasks.
Everyone is commenting, its a black and white phone with a reader.
Its not.. its a reader with the functionalities of a phone.
The thing no one seems to see is:
It doesn’t limit you to let’s say the kindle store. You can choose whichever App you like. And listen to audiobooks too.
For me personally it’s the size and an open OS with a lot of apps to choose from which makes it a winner.
Android 11 though is a bit of a bummer (regarding to their website)
maybe the site hasn't been updated in a while?
I destroyed 99like and crreated 100
honestly having android 11 really doesent matter, it runs everything you want and its not supposed to be a smartphone or tablet replacement, its an e-reader with bells and whistles, a ton of bells and whistles.
fully recommend it.
@@callanwilson3623 Thanks for your opinion. I think I will buy it. The reason why I talked about Android 11 is that with ongoing App updates the minimum Android version needed will increase and a lot of apps already have A11 as their minimum (dont know though if any of them are among the e reader apps). But anyways. I hope it will get an update to A13 later on someday as it would extend its usage span for some more years.
@@jasonpugliano Then it's even more bummer for such tech product.
Turn it into a phone and it will be a hit with the minimalist niche.

Apple: Introducing the new iReader, that will be $4,000
😂😂😂 why does that sound like a actual iPhone product
Its price is 270$ and i think it is bit overpriced😅
If I recall, the B&N nook was initially offered at $259 in 2009.
I agree, for a phone which can only display colors in black and white, That has to be expensive.
@@user-xo6zf9jt3d yeah i mean i can get normal redmi with all good features and fast charger for 270$. And this shii even doesn't have selfi cam and most features average phone got
@@user-xo6zf9jt3dIt's the best phone I've seen with an e-ink screen, it probably has the best commerically available e ink screen. It's not just some LCD or OLED without the colour.
i've had one since December, if you wanted an e-reader with expandable storage, more portability than literally any other e-reader while being one of the most powerful and smoothest to use you wont get anything else like it
i couldnt go back to a kindle, no fucking way its a honest game changer
Why tf are all the top comments the newest comments 😭
I noticed it in many videos tho , I don't what happened with UA-cam. I just thought I messed up my yt settings but I think everyone faces this.

Yeah same
YT is doing a fucky-wucky again. They mess up their platform in new and exciting ways every week, so that's not exactly a surprise at this point.
Love e-ink so much!
I have this, it’s literally EPIC!! definitely have to get used to the lag, because from what I’ve experience so far you can’t get rid of it even on the fastest setting
Does it work as a phone?
Smartphones people used in 1930s..black and white

for an e-ink display, a high pixel density isn't all cat impressive. The granules which hold the magnetized ink have about 2 thousand granules per inch.
It still affects font legibility, since the internals still aim to give you the pixel, not some random thing that will somehow smoothen the font
Well I know that MEOW 🥁🥁
Well I showed this to my cat and he was pretty hyped up

I would disagree. You can get a Samsung a15 for half that and if you set on white on black it will last just as long on a charge if all you do is use it as a E reader
@@119beaker Well i'm not saying it's neither cheap nor worth it, i was just expecting it to be overpriced, that's not uninteresting but for 280 i'd definitely get a 180$ xiaomi redmi and a 100$ kindle instead, although i'm pretty sure that even in black and white, no smartphone with the same battery size could outlast a device with an e-ink screen
It's amazing how fast this tech is suddenly improving! To think I saw this device as the cutting edge of e-ink and there's already an e-ink Android tablet with higher than 60fps (albeit a slightly diff technology) plus pen support which sounds like just about the perfect substitute for sketchbooks and notebooks. The prices are still pretty insane though.
I love it! I'll buy in a heartbeat under $200.
being able to fit it into my pocket bought me tbh
Spending about 385$ is not rational 😮

As a novel reader... I love it
Basically just a smartphone with colours removed in screen settings by going to 0 color saturation, then opened ebook in some good PDF reader that probably costs couple quits when buying separately, I have rly strong feeling that that's perfect description of that device...
Btw I think that even in quick setting from top shelf u can add/choose thing that makes everything black & white (forgot absolutely how is it called and I can't check now as I'm typing on my Xbox and phone is dead and charging, I was stoned and then fell asleep and left it streaming whole night lol... 😅
