I think pregnant women switch to “natural/clean” skincare because it’s (supposedly) safer for the baby not because it’s good for pregnancy skin but i could be wrong!!

As a nursing student, here's my pharmacological take: lottttsss of medicines are not tested on pregnant or breastfeeding people because it isn't ethical, since duh, babies cannot consent to medical testing. So just about every single drug out there is not recommended for anyone pregnant or nursing because we can't prove if it's safe or not. I'm sure the same thing goes for products considered synthetic, processed, or "full of chemicals."
Yeah there are some ingredients like retinoids/vitamin a that you aren’t supposed to use in skincare while pregnant or breastfeeding! Most stuff is okay but the majority of products are not tested on pregnant/breastfeeding women so they say to avoid stuff that can cause issues for the baby.
Not saying that Gigi isn’t naturally gorgeous (because she is), but Vogue is known for editing in subtle skin enhancing filters to these videos.
Not saying this to bash Gigi. I just want anyone watching that is freaking out about how perfect she looks that it’s likely not entirely real.

I think she went natural because she was worried about possibly harming the baby, not necessarily worrying about her own skin. I know when I was pregnant I was super concious about what I put on my skin and in my body, for my babies health!
That makes sense. I haven’t had a kid but my sister has, babies are so fragile especially when still in the womb. And I know there are still so many products that we don’t know how they will affect the baby in the womb. So of course you are gonna be careful of what you put on your skin and in your body.

actually most products are pregnancy safe. Only the medical strong creams have to be avoided because of the potential risk. The reason why products aren't certified as pregnancy safe is because they don't test on pregnant women so they can't make any claims, just to save their backs legally. But in theory few products are harmful as most of the stuff doesn't go into the blood stream and you only use it on a small area
@@NY-rg9br Retinoids and such are not considered safe during pregnancy, so there are a couple of things that you wouldn't think of straight away.
@@nicola6234 I thought of retinoids when I said medical grade. Specifically tretinoin and adapalen (only with prescription in my country) but the lower potent retinoids such as retinol and some retinol esters don't really have any high risks when used only on a small portion of the body even if there is a pregnancy warning. But yes best to avoid retinoids but there are a lot of other products to choose from that's why I don't think it's necessary for a "pregnancy safe" guide
@@NY-rg9br They're not exactly "strong medical grade", even my local Aldi sells retinol products. Any topical vitamin A should be avoided during pregnancy but not all products will state this on the packaging.
@@nicola6234 they have not actually been shown to be harmful in topical form but just as a precaution they don't recommend it since oral vitamin A is known to be damaging. It is extremely unlikely that it can be damaging since the uptake to the blood stream is super low if only the face is treated. I wouldn't stress about it tbh but sure best to follow recommendations

First of all, not every product with fragrance is bad. It can be detrimental to those who have sensitivity towards fragrance. The number of people with this condition is low. So, fragrance - not necessarily a nono.
Second, chemical peels are allowed. ONLY if they are done by licensed professionals.
Third, St Ives really is bad because of the scrubs. But they do have a few decent and affordable products like the chamomile cleanser.
Also we don’t like alcohol in our products and natural doesn’t always mean better😉

I remember the makeup team our school hired for our graduation pictorial literally used the same brush on EVERYONE. My friends and I went out the moment we saw the setup and got some drugstore makeup and did our makeup ourselves (tho our final look did come out looking more simple and natural compared to what the makeup team did). Funny thing was we got bashed for doing our own makeup because apparently we were being "too picky" with the makeup lol. Saved us from getting monster zits tho so.... it was worth it.

hi!! if you truly have acne and can afford ig please see a specialist, like a dermatologist or esthetician! even the brands hyram endorses all have a disclaimer that their products wont clear cystic acne... this is coming from a girl who’s had cystic acne, it will save you a lot of pain and eventually your bank account :)

I had NO skin care routine!!
I didn't know how important it is, I went last night to my nearest store and I bought night and day cleansers and moisturisers. I also bought serum and toner for night time ( realised I need an oil to keep everything in at night and suncream for daytime too)
My skins so oily and even after 24hours my skin feels amazing and looks so much better and no red patches!!

No hate, but if someone says they've never used St. Ives, I assume they must be very young and grew up listening to people share their horror stories. Literally everyone used St. Ives when I was in middle/high school, and that was more than a little while ago.

Lucky. One of the granules got embedded underneath my eyelid and was scratching my eyeball. I had a full blown meltdown, a doctor had to remove it. That was the end of St. Ives for me. That scrub is evil on many levels.

After giving birth my skin went crazy! I never had acne on my teen years, but now I had several pimples on my chin area constantly. For mire than a year, then I added probiotics to my diet and the acne cleared. And I’m being constant with skin care 💕
