To download the pictures along with the starting .blend file all set up and ready to go for the tutorial, sign up for a FREEBIES account at blenderfrenzy.com/b/friendzies. Then go to posts and search for Skull and scroll down to find the downloads. You'll have access to all other downloads for my UA-cam videos as well. Nope. The images and .blend file are completely FREE when you sign up for a FREEBIES membership. If you prefer not to sign up, you can download the 2 reference images on pixabay with the link I sent in my previous reply. If you want to pay for an upgraded membership with exclusive videos and downloads, that's up to you :)
No problem. They are good questions that many others probably are asking as well. I've pinned your comment so people can find Todd easily. Happy Blending!
Wow, thanks, Rob! I haven't learned anything about skulpting, so I adapted a few modeling techniques from a couple different tutorials. Glad you enjoyed! And sorry you spent months sculpting one.
First off THANK YOU for making this! Could not find a skull anywhere with decent topology (paid or free) for a base mesh to customize. I've been doing stylized mid-poly no-sculpts for 3+ years and complex organic shapes like this have been very hit or miss for me. I mostly use primitive first workflows, then break down the shapes. Which doesn't result in the best topology for something this complex. Tutorial really added a nice tool to my toolbox. Only complaint would be I wish the videos were broken down into 10 - 20 minute segments (face, head, top skull refinement). Completing this video in one sitting would be pretty brutal.
Will be doing this soon, it also seems like a great way to get used to using standard hotkeys this will help allot! Question if having 3d printing in mind if you have an idea on that is there anything i should keep in mind whilst using this technique?
I'm somewhat new to Blender, but I've been playing around enough that this seems easy to do. However, I can't get my planes to behave. When I try to move vertices either in X or Y view, it's messing with the placement in the other view. Also, it seems to be creating new vertices when I'm just trying to move them, etc. Not sure whats going on....
Switching back and forth between front and side views can be pretty tricky sometimes. Here are a couple things to try: 1) In Edit mode, occasionally select all your vertices and press M and then select merge by distance. This will merge any duplicate vertices that occupy the same space. (To avoid this you can turn auto merging on) 2) There's a difference between single and double tapping G to move vertices. Double tapping G will only slide the vertices along the existing mesh. This happened a lot to me when modeling the skull and I do address it at some point in the series (not sure exactly where). But if you don't want your vertices to move in both views, make sure to only single tap G to move. Other than that, I'm not sure how to diagnose further unless I can see the problem in action. Hope this helps!
@@BlenderFrenzy thank you for the response. I played around with it a little bit more and started getting the hang of it. The biggest problem I had was that my reference images weren’t lining up close enough, which was throwing me way off. however, I fixed that problem and then I was able to do it. Will definitely need some practice though. Thank you for the tutorial. It was awesome.
You're very welcome. Glad it was helpful. Very soon I'm going to create a similar tutorial video (or series) using the same method to create the T-800 Terminator skull. I think I have a better way to line up the reference images because I've had the same problems in the past.
Hi, Blahoslav! Thanks for joining. Although it looks like you are on the Gumroad site. You should go to my website at blenderfrenzy.com - you will find the files there. I am no longer uploading new files to Gumroad.
Hi danilo! I think it's just good ol' hard surface modeling with reference images. I'm not familiar with the programs you mentioned, so I can't say for sure. But I'm assuming most 3D software would have 3D geometry to model with.
Hi Manuel, thanks for reaching out! The downloads are included in the free Frenzy Freebies membership, so you will have to sign up for that if you want to access the downloads.
Hi KingPugBoi! I see you joined Frenzy Freebies! Welcome aboard! If you go to the membership page where you see all the posts, there's a search feature. In the search bar type "FREEBIES Downloads - Skull" - that will show you the post with the link to the Skull Freebies .zip file. Hope that helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.
Don't duplicate your mesh to make backups. Do Save As and click the + sign to get an incrementing filename. I have gotten used to creating all new project with project_001.blend filename to support this.
Oh yes, saving in iterations is one of my all-time favorite things about blender. I do it all the time. However, I only go back to them if absolutely necessary. It's just easier to duplicate and hide/unhide things if I need to revisit something. So I do both.
Hi, Samar! I see you signed up for the Frenzy Freebies. Can you describe the issue you're having in more detail? Did you find the .blend file? Is there an error message? You can filter and search the posts for downloads. The reference photos are contained inside the .blend file that you can download for these tutorials.
@@BlenderFrenzy Oh Thank you for responding to me thanks after I downloaded it ..show me this message....This file is dangerous, so Chrome has blocked it ..
Oh, that's strange. Sounds like an issue with chrome. I haven't touched the file since I uploaded it a year ago, and Payhip is a secure platform, so there shouldn't be anything wrong with the file. But I'll check it later today to see if I get any warnings as well.

Having spent months sculpting a human skull in blender previously this technique is mind blowing 🤯

Excellent tutorial. I followed it and have a good result! Mine will be for 3D printing, so I'll eventually have to add more polygons.
Just subdivide it
@@mr.lunatic3157 yeah but the round places will need to be inflated a little
I like how you said you should have used the default cube. Every Blender wizard always deletes it and then summons their own.
