I have a 2016 jeep that is lacking in tech and CarPlay and I just upgraded my OEM screen to this! I’m so excited! Thank you for the video ❤
Great call upgrading the screen! And you're welcome!
Thank you I just got a new car. This was great!
That's exciting, glad the video helped! What build did you end up going with?
Thank you so much - just got my car tonight - you help a lot .
You're welcome Derrick! What build did you go with for your Cherokee?
@@CarsWithSteve 2021 Grand Jeep Cherokee Limited v6
@@derrickdzurko2068 Nice build, I'm sure you'll end up loving it!
Great tutorial, Steve -Cheers!!!
Thanks Bob!
Great video! I am about to buy a 2021!
Thanks Bonnie, hope you enjoy the new ride!
Great video mate thank you 🙏

Well done video

Hi I have a jgc-2019,limited .. I would like to upgrade to a wireless player, with video option and to add a dash cam gps. Please suggest one option, a brand model etc
how do you display the N/S/E/W display on the rear view mirror
I have a 2019 jeep Cherokee how do I prevent the radio from playing instead of Bluetooth when the car start I need help
Great video... Can you load a picture from your phone to always show on the screen? Thanks!
Thanks Ronda! Would be great to be able to set a custom background but unfortunately uConnect doesn't have that as an option
Thanks
@@rondanicholson2085 anytime
I have a 2021 JGC, when using a USB drive for media, it will reboot the radio system after about 45 seconds, I have use this USB drive for the last 2 Jeeps i have leased so I know it is not a drive issue. I have tested with other USB devices and get the same issue. I tried different formats of the drive, FAT/FAT32/NTFS nothing works
That's really odd. If you've tried other devices and it's causing reboots that's definitely a software issue. There could also be something up with wiring and power draw. Have you had a chance to bring it in for a warranty claim?
I just got the 2021 grand Cherokee limited I followed everything in your video but it doesn’t have where the mirrors fold and the wipers sensor is that normal ? Or do I have to upgrade anything I just got it three days ago
The power folding mirrors and rain sensing wipers aren't standard across the lineup... Don't believe the 2021 Limited had those options
I have a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee loredo x I don’t see “activate services”. Any idea if it’s supposed to have it?
The Laredo trim unfortunately doesn't have the option for the built in modem with LTE support
Thanks for the video! However, I suspect that I may need to update my Uconnect system. I bought a new 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee WK Limited 4x4 in June 2022. Since then, I've only put 1958 miles on it. As I watched you video, I could see that I do have many of the options in the settings that you've shown, but I don't have a good many that I think I should have.
I know some of them are dependent on the vehicles extra installed options, such as the suspension lift/lower option. But the ones that I'm referring to are those that really haven't got to do with vehicle system's optional extras.
For example; One of them is the Nav Maps settings for Auto Zoom or POI, (I may have the POI and just forgot), and several others, which I don't think are in my Uconnect system. However, I'm going by the last time I checked and I haven't checked for those recently.
In fact, I'm about to go out and recheck the entire system starting with what Uconnect version I have. It's very possible that the options that I think I don't have may have been updated and installed and I just don't realize it.
Thanks again for the video. Considering everything that's included in that Infotainment system, I found it incredible that you could cover it all so quickly and yet so coherently clear!
Great Job!
Rich
Thanks Rich, glad you found the video helpful. The 2022 should have the newer uConnect 5 infotainment system which I cover off in this video: ua-cam.com/video/ZKSrholQuz4/v-deo.html That would explain why some of the features seem different! Check the other video out and let me know if that's closer to your setup
@@CarsWithSteve Thank you Steve! I haven't had the time to double check my system compared to the 2021, so I'm going to the link you provided for the 2022 and then I can make a better comparison. (I appreciate the link!)
Rich
You're welcome!
Hi bro ,navigation don’t work in my country !! How i can instail the navigation (map) to the car ?? {Jeep 2021}. Please reply 🙏🏻
If the nav won't work you'd have to run through Android Auto or Apple CarPlay and use either Google Maps, Apple Maps or Waze. Connect your phone through USB to be able to set it up!
Hi there, thank you for this video. Can you please say what are other way we play the back screens besides the DVD player? With Apple car play is it possible to Connect to UA-cam? Thanks.
You're welcome! You can't use the UA-cam app through Android Auto or Apple CarPlay on any vehicle as of right now
For the rear seat entertainment system it should have support for DVD/BlueRay/HMDI/AV which can be selected on the remote by pressing "Source"
@@CarsWithSteve thank you once again. Any examples of devices I can connect to use for the kids at the back?
@@mozpassion8996 anytime! You should be able to use most devices that have those output capabilities. I haven't tried devices on it myself but those rear screens are functional TVs so in theory you should be able to connect things like the Nintendo Switch, tablets with the USBc to HDMI adapters etc
All types of grand Cherokee 2021 needs a cable? There is not wireless connection in 80th edition?
No wireless option in this last generation uConnect 4 screen unless you're just connecting to bluetooth. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay in uConnect 4 is wired
Hi I just got this car but i was wondering if there was a way to silence that "boop" sound when ever i tap on the screen.
Ah the boop! Whether you're on uConnect 4 (this sceen) or in a newer G/C with uConnect 5 it's under Vehicle --> Display --> Touchscreen Beep
@@CarsWithSteve oh thank you so much!
Hey could u show us how upload audio with a flash drive..
I can add that to the list of things to shoot for the 2023 model but it's pretty straight forward. Once you have audio on a drive, plug it into the USB port and then select USB as your audio source!
It does work with Jeep Grand Cherokee 2015? Or do I have to use a dongle? And if it requires a dongle, which dongle do I have to use?
Thanks in advance
Android Auto and CarPlay wasn't available for that model year. Haven't come across a device that would allow you to stream on it either
@@CarsWithSteve thanks a lot
Hello, can i install the system on my Grand Cherokee limited 2017?
Thank you
Believe uConnect 4 was available as an option in the 2017 so you'd just need to find the screen/assembly. Best bet would probably be to check out scrap yards for the part and then have the dealer program it to your VIN
Good video but you should note that not all apps on your phone will be available on the projection
Thanks for pointing that out Jon, will definitely mention that in future videos!
Do you know how to soft reset this system on a 2021 Jeep Cherokee? Every once in a blue moon my phone won't pair up or SiriusXM won't pick up.
Weird issue! But to soft reset all you need to do is press and hold the volume and turner knob buttons together for 10-20 seconds. The screen should flash Jeep and then go dark before coming back on a few seconds later
Do you have to use U connect and android auto both together.
uConnect is technically the name of the screen.. so you'd have to connect your Android to the car and then navigate through the screen
Is there anyway to be full-screen with no quick controls in the bottom of the screen?
Full screen for android auto and apple car play?
@@CarsWithSteve yes for android auto, is there a way to get full screen?
@@fouadfouad Unfortunately not a true full screen
I have a 2019 Jeep grand Cherokee and my usb port does not work . I have switched the fuses , still does not work but the aux cord does . What could be the problem?
Have you tried switching out USB cables too? I’ve found 3rd party ones don’t like to work sometimes. Has to be an OEM cable
If that doesn’t work and you’ve already replaced fuses it could be wiring that needs replacing.. maybe factory issue or rodents eating the soy wires. Dealer have a chance to look at it yet?
How do I use the contact from my I phone to my 2021 ram
Hook yourself up over bluetooth, then press the voice command prompt on the steering wheel to activate Siri/Google Assistant
Hello
I cant connect with my android, but with any iphone it works. Do you know why?
Could be a few reasons..
If you're on uConnect 4 (wired CarPlay)
1. Check to see that Android Auto is installed on your phone
2. Make sure you're using an OEM USB cable - so one right from your phone manufacturer (Samsung , HTC etc) For some reason aftermarket ones don't always work.
3. Try switching to a different USB port
If you're on uConnect 5 (wireless CarPlay)
1. Check to see that Android Auto is installed on your phone
2. Remove the Android connection from the vehicle and the vehicle connection from your phone's bluetooth
3. Re-add the device
When i press the talk button on the steering wheel the voice commands automatically go to the uconnect system even when i have apple carplay enabled. How can i make the streering wheel controls work for carplay.
The uConnect Voice Assistant is a quick press while Siri/Google Assistant are a longer press and hold
@@CarsWithSteve oh awesome, thanks so much!
you're welcome!
Good video even if the video quality is poor. Time to buy a better camera.
Haha yeah I was using a GoPro Hero 8 when I shot this. Going to be tricky to find a uConnect 4 Grand Cherokee to shoot something better quality but the Charger uses similar tech: ua-cam.com/video/89K2vZi-oyY/v-deo.html
I have a 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee Altitude. My ipod doesn't work with the USB connection. It says "Device not supported" . Any suggestions?
Some older devices won't work unfortunately..
Outside of phones, what media device will work?@@CarsWithSteve
USB sticks for the data port. Bluetooth enabled ones are best. 7th gen ipod nano/touch have bluetooth support..
The UConnect manual says that it suppose to work with just connect the ipod to the USB port. It does says the older devices has old non supported software. I ordered a a new media player today. Should be here tomorrow. Also, my UConnect software is out of date. Will get that done at the dealer tomorrow. @@CarsWithSteve
Hopefully the update does it but the software compatibility on older devices is common among most manufacturers
does this work on 2017 jeep grand cherokee?
The 2017 Grand Cherokee would have been on the uConnect 4 system - check this video out on the Wrangler that'll work the same way - ua-cam.com/video/DMng8o4ugrQ/v-deo.html
I got “compass” instead of “Nav” can I change that
Depends.. if you have uConnect 4c you might have a dealer activation code for navigation. Need to call your dealer to find out. The standard uConnect 4 doesn't have the option for factory nav
Wait, so my Chevy Malibu rental had wireless connectivity for Apple car play but a 30k+ luxury suv doesn’t have it and I have to have a cord on me? 😑
Some brands are like that.. all depends on what underlying screen tech they're using. I've been in $80k cars with wired only too. The last gen uConnect 4 system is only wired but the newer uConnect 5 is wireless
Doesn’t let me input streets on navigation seems like only certain street addresses populate. How am I able to plug in an address on navigation and have it show up it won’t even let me put in my home certain numbers are only allowed
It'll be based on address availability for the GPS service. You can try updating to the most recent version of the map program
If you're updated the best bet would be to use an approximate location, GPS coordinates or major intersection. I've run into the same issue with Google Maps and Apple Maps so it's not just with uConnect
How do I update that.
@@dantiberi5801 start here - carswithsteve.com/Jeep-uConnect-update
edit: you can also have your dealer ensure you're up to date during the next service appt
@@CarsWithSteve tried this and didn’t know I have to pay for an update ?
@@dantiberi5801 yeah unfortunately the map updates typically aren't included. You can try calling support to see if you can haggle on the price
I send my 2016 jeep cherokee to Europe
I can not use gps navigation
Makes sense.. the North American models wouldn't have EU maps installed. You need an EU authorization code..
Hi! No wireless CarPlay?
Not unless your Jeep has uConnect5
@@CarsWithSteve thank! I’ll see if I can update it. Is a Grand Cherokee 2021
@@josechomali anytime! How are you enjoying the Grand Cherokee so far?
@@CarsWithSteveis awesome. Is an SRT. Pretty annoying that at that price there is not uconnect 5; only 4c available
@@josechomali Right? Not easy to upgrade it either unfortunately. I'm sure the tech will be even better by the time you're ready to trade your new one in
Sloooo Down dude
Would you believe me if I said this is me trying to go slower? Working on it now though so hopefully the 2022 will be a bit slower
Good video …. I think you can cut the adderall in half
HAHA
Great video, but you talk so fast, that you can't even absorb half of the information!
Yeah I definitely used to speak pretty fast. I did a video on the Wrangler that features the exact same screen where I speak way slower - ua-cam.com/video/DMng8o4ugrQ/v-deo.html
Super helpful..but he's talking super fast 😵💫
Lol just a little bit. Slowing down to 0.75x could help but check these ones out that are a bit slower:
Grand Cherokee uConnect 5: ua-cam.com/video/ZKSrholQuz4/v-deo.html
Wrangler uConnect 4 (same feature set as this): ua-cam.com/video/DMng8o4ugrQ/v-deo.html
Goes to fast
Turn the playback speed down to 0.75x
Use the chapters and play/pause/rewind as needed. There's a lot to cover off in these walk through videos
Good, but this person talks too fast.
Try changing the playback speed to 0.75x
Press the little settings icon on the bottom right of the screen and select playback speed
You talk much, much tooooooo
You kind of have to talk a bit to explain all these features
