Used this video as a guide for installing this Uconnect upgrade head unit on a 2014 Jeep GC. Hands and arms were in the way of the most critical connections and should have been done with the camera in a different position. Exactly how the connectors come apart depends on seeing which part needs to be pushed while pulling the connector apart. But, I am no expert in doing these kinds of installs and I figured it out! Thanks for doing this video! What I could see and hear was very helpful. I would not have attempted this install without reviewing this video a few times. Thanks so much taking the time to do it!
No problem at all! Thank you for the feedback. Those antenna connectors on the back of the radio are pretty small and unfortunately fingers tend to be twice their size. We're glad you were successful!!
Got my system today and installed it, even bled a little when I caught myself with the screwdriver a couple of times. Couple of suggestions. I have a T handle shift which made it a challenge to work around the console to get the USB unit out. If you guys have someone who brings in a T shaped handle shift that you have to convert, it would be great to see a video of that being done. Also, the big black cable on the back of the existing display, that was a bear to get off and back on, if you had a video showing the best means to do it, that would also help. But, I got it all installed thanks to your video and works great, thanks very much!
Update, the heated seats and steering wheel do not work. You mentioned needing an updated cable for this to work on 2014/15 models, is there a link to purchase that additional add on and is there a video on how to install it by chance?
We're glad to hear you got it installed! It can be a little tricky, we're glad the video helped! As for that harness that allows you to retain heated/ventilated seat/steering wheel, it's this link! infotainment.com/shop/interior-accessories/wiring/c-int4ck/
hello good video .. I have a grand cherokee 2014 this does not have gps .. I would like to put the car play .. is it necessary to change the stereo or not?
I'm having trouble with turning the center console sideways at the 1:30 mark because my shifter knob isn't surrounded by the leather housing--mine is surrounded by a set of plastic accordion pieces that move along with the shifter but does not allow the center console to be turned sideways (would break the housing). Any ideas? I'm guessing others have probably run into this as well.
Hi there, So yes, I know what shifter you're referring to. Your shifter knob is elongated horizontally. On the left side of the shifter knob, there's a chrome ring and there's a little space right below the chrome. If you pull that chrome ring, the top half of the shifter knob will pop off (it's a bit snug, so you might have to pull a little hard, luckily it is really hard to break). Inside the shifter you'll see a screw that you need to remove, it's a Torx 30 size screw. Then you pull the plastic covering out of the shifter hole, and you should be left with a bar of metal. From there grab the back of the console (right at where your arm rest storage starts) and work your way around popping it out to the front of the dash.
You mention the 2015 also need the harness for the heated seats, but all the documents on the website states that’s only need for the 2014. Can you clarify?
No you are correct. This is an older video. We figured it out for 15's and that only effects 14's now. I have a grand cherokee 2017 limited plus with ventilated seats and that stuff. If i get a screen from a 2018 limited that didn't have the ventilated seats, will i lose these options, or will it still be there?
Hi there, So you'll retain those features as a 2017 when going to the Uconnect 4, and they are in the BCM. It's just the 2014's and a handful of 2015's that primarily have the heated seats/steering wheel issue in being retained because that was the first year the Grand Cherokee began the modern BCM design, and things got better over the years.
Noticed on the video and on my updated unit that the Media tab selection still notes an SD Card even though the SD card is longer and there are 2 USB connections. Anything we can do about that?
The USB media hub that is included in upgrade package will have two USB spots as well as the AUX port. The USB media hub is an essential component to Apple Carplay/Android auto functionality. The “Media” button on the touchscreen will access media sources such as: Disc (If Equipped), USB Device, AUX, Bluetooth, and SD Card (If Equipped) as long as the requested media is present. infotainment.com/shop/interior-accessories/infotainment-radio-upgrades/2014-2021-jeep-grand-cherokee-gps-navigation-8-4-4c-nav-uaq-radio-with-apple-carplay-android-auto/

For Europe is would be this listing infotainment.com/shop/interior-accessories/export-infotainment/uconnect-ugq-eu-european-gps-navigation-radio-with-apple-carplay-and-android-auto/ For South America, Australia, Middle East infotainment.com/shop/interior-accessories/export-infotainment/uconnect-ujq-row-australia-middle-east-south-america-gps-navigation-radio-with-apple-carplay-and-android-auto/ The only issue, is that these radio upgrades are not capable of DAB+ Tuning without additional equipment. We cannot test DAB+ tuning because it does not exist where we are. But Even frequencies will work for FM reception.
Is it possible to replace the USB hub with the later style type with two USB ports and no SD card? If not, what was the purpose of replacing the existing one with one that looks the same as the original?
The upgrade comes with a USB media hub to accommodate Apple Carplay/Android auto. The media hub is basically an interface that displays Apple Carplay/Android Auto on to the screen. It is an essential component to this upgrade package and to the functionality of Apple Carplay/Android Auto.
Usually there's a "Screen Off" just to the right of the volume knob. It's in this video. Some vehicles may not have a screen off/power off button, so the radio only turns off when the vehicle is turned off and the driver's side door is opened and closed.

Do i need to plug my phone if i get this in order to run android auto for my 2015 grand cherokee limited or can it connect wirelessly. Also will the remote start still work?
No this is a wired connection. Wireless did not come out until 2022 and we do not have a solution for it just yet. This upgrade will retain any existing features including remote start through the keyfob.
@@Infotainment_nav i'll wait a little more then. Hopefully you guys can make it work wirelessly in the future. I would hate to plug my phone every time. Thanks for your response.

Then OBD diagnosis and the following error codes come up at U0199-00 & U0200-00 both lost communication with the driver by module. Even the USB hub remains illuminated. I had contact several times and absolutely no good service it stops with no reaction any more ...at least took the radio out... €2550, lost to a non-working radio and very poor service from Infotainemt. It must be because it is in Europe that the service is so bad. ?

Hi there, Not exactly. The 2022+ Grand Cherokee Uconnect systems changed wiring completely, the connectors are significantly different. We should be launching the UConnect 5 system for the 2014-2021 Grand Cherokee soon, and it will include conversion wiring and programming. The only thing is that we haven't been able to get the SRT pages to work on the Uconnect 5.
