Infinity the game tactics | Holo Echo Suppression

- Curious about using your holoecho fighting pieces slightly better? In this video, we look at the way you can get a suppressive fire holoecho unit into a better position with ease. Or, you can use the threat of this to waste an enemy order. Looking to get more infinity the game tactics, check out the other videos in this series.
Amazing trick!
One thing not mentioned is that Suppressive fire is full order, so you can't declare it in LoF of the enemy or they get a free shot, but with holoecho you can declare it out of LoF, then echo into LoF so the enemy piece is suppressed at the start of their own turn.
First things first: got a subscriber, i'm glad to see channel like this where discussing about tactics and skills of this fantastic game. My 2 cents about facing holoechoes:
- focusing on M.O. big guy, i usually choose a safe approach by lobbing some grenades (as you said about templates) or maybe by Carbonite hacking attack with a 3 (or more) members fireteam. Taking advantage of the fireteam bonus in active turn, i can spread the whole burst over the 3 holograms (2 bases +1 granted by fireteam), forcing the big guy to break his state if he want to save his ass.
Other option is too shoot him with a large burst heavy weapon above the 16 inches, better in a fireteam in order to mitigate the malus imposed by cover (if any) and suppressive state. Last option is to engage him with a coordinate order or a 3 members fireteam but is too much expensive, and seldom a player would left a costly unit like the Holy Sepulchre alone and unguarded. These 2 option are usually order expensive and hard to carry out.
- about other holoechoes that aren't HI or hackable: a tricky combo is made by spotlight and guided weapons (like missile launcher). In active turn you can try to activate the program on the central hologram, no matter if he's the bearer or not. Then place over him the circular template, so you are sure to catch even the other two holograms, and then enjoy the incoming missile barrage XD
These are great points. I think the hacking one only works if you target the right one though as you couldn’t spotlight an echo so might be order intensive. I agree with what you say about using templates though. They’re a tough thing to tackle if they’re used well!
@@the_infinitygamer Thanks for your reply. You put a flea in my ear: according to Holoechoes description in the gamewiki, Holoechoes are considered real troopers in regard to providing AROs, checking LoF and so on. Why spotlight shouldn't works against Holoechoes? There's no saving rolls involved, so the hologram can't be removed by targeting. Only reset is allowed, wich would cancel the state anyway. Did i miss something (surely i did)?
That’s likely to be true. But when the action resolves the echo will be revealed as a non-valid target for the spotlight so it won’t result in a +3 modifier for attacking the real unit.
@@the_infinitygamer Got it, i was sure i've missed something. Thanks for the explanation!
Thank you for testing my knowledge!!
See thins before but it’s good to get a solid explanation as to how it works
Solid might be a stretch 😂
Someone at the game store I play at did this with his Combined Army. He called it the teleporting suppression cheese.
Yup that sounds about right 😂
Another good video.
Maybe you could do extended versions for curry night...
Hahaha I think that’s an excellent idea!
good👍
This one is handy
I haven't got anything holoecho yet, but I think there is a remote available for my faction with it. One day I'll get it, and try this.
Hope you enjoy giving it a go!
Cheeky indeed!
😜
Is there anything online to play infinity virtually? I am brand new to infinity but absolutely no one near me plays it. I looked at the website for their rep like people but no luck. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
Table Top Simulator enables you to play against a real human being on a virtual table. VaulSC has some great content about getting started 😃
@@the_infinitygamer That is great! Thanks for getting back to me. Any word on more plastic models coming out? Hoping Infinity can eventually do large scale tabletop armies.
More plastic minis coming this year. The Bearpode kit is plastic already 😃. Not sure about large scale armies as a standard for infinity. It’s very much a spec-ops tactical insertion game. But that doesn’t stop people running 500 point plus games!!
One niche, but unpleasant use is for missions like countermeasures, where you have to dominate quadrants. if holoechoes are in different quadrants, the enemy does not know which one you're contesting with the points of a beefy holoecho trooper.
Oh that’s a really good point!! I like that.
Unless they can do math. But it does make them sweat. :)
Makes it something they have to spend orders on figuring out I guess.
@@the_infinitygamer Yep. Covering their bases at least.
Even if they can do math, that's either 56 points in this zone, or in that zone. Do you spend an order to bring your presence to 57+ in the first or the second? Or do you spend more orders to try and kill the holo kots in suppression?
I like you don't just talk about it and actually show it. I think maybe keep going with Holoechoes and show things like how to use them to clear mines or forcing an ARO against an echo in the first half of an order. You can't hold ARO against echoes.
That’s a great point, there’s still quite e a few tactics holo echos can be good for!
Holo Echo is a marker state and states you do get to hold.
@@arrik1 Holo is a little different. Under holoechoes "Holoechoes are considered real Troopers in regard to providing AROs, checking LoF, and activating Enemy weapons or pieces of Equipment (Mines, CrazyKoalas, etc.)." You can only hold against a camo or impersonation marker states. I'll see if i can get it confirmed.
@@Space_RangerWhen a Trooper in Holoecho State is activated, each Reactive Trooper can delay the declaration of their ARO until the second half of the Active Trooper's Order has been declared. In this case:
But you can use the free move when y out jump into holoecho state to move from one quadrant into another sneakily.
Toilet tactics are the reason why my regular tabletop friends never want to play Infinity again =/
Unfortunately this game is and has always been super fun, super detailed with a solid core, but once you get into it, the toilet practically jumps in your face. The worst thing: what you’re doing in this video is, as you say, exactly what holo echo is meant to do. It doesn’t make any sense to not use it this way.
Very sad. I‘m back to D6 style games, enjoying them very much, but still looking longingly at my Yu Jing collection. They haven’t seen proper gameplay since shortly after N3 released, but they keep a prime spot in my display cabinet =/
Code One is definitely a lot better for just a straightforward enjoyable version of infinity with no toilet tactics involved. I hate experiencing these sorts of things for the first time but then once you’ve seen them done once or twice you get used to them and even learn to counter them fairly easily.
@@the_infinitygamer We tried Code One a handful of times, but his Nomads were missing as well as some of my favourites out of my collection - mainly JSA. Many of which are apparently not even usable in N4, I just noticed? Well, that sucks.
Thank you for sharing your videos, they give me the tiny Infinity fix I need =)
You’re very welcome, thanks for supporting by watching!
I don't think this is a toilet tactic..
Because that model replaced the older Equestrian Knight, and it also had Holo-Echo.. they just made Holo-Echo cleaner, compared to N3.
It would be toilet tactic if that unit was ava "T".. and that's all you took..
Now that's toilet!
Hahaha I think I may have misnamed this series. Toilet is supposed to refer to what you’re doing when you watch these videos, a way to improve your infinity gameplay while otherwise ‘occupied’. 😂
Hurrah more toilet tactics
😂
Dirty!!!
It’s a sneaky one for sure
