- In this new series, I'll explain some key tactics for Infinity while you take a break from the world.
This video focuses on getting a free move in the face of the enemy, without your main unit taking a single ARO.
Nox: fires Zapper to hit both units as the biker moves into the template during the second short skill 😎
Hahaha yeah if the ARO is a template weapon you avoid this tactic
@@the_infinitygamer Ahh I see this has been mentioned! Sorreh!
Fantastic idea for button pushing shenanigans. Also, toilet tactics is a ridiculous name and I love it.
😂😂😂 glad you approve
Love the format- good info + runtime appreciated.
Thank you!!
You can also dodge if you do not have a companion, dodging does not generate an ARO but still gives you a 2 inch move (sometimes more like with myrmidons). You can also use this to sacrifice a member of the link team or a helper bot.
You’re right and this can be situational. The O12 Raptor, for example, only has a 2” second skill move profile. With that unit I wouldn’t sacrifice the Devabot for free I’d dodge. But a Lawkeeper has a 6” second skill move so I would rather lose the peripheral to make full use of those inches.
A very neat idea for new players, Infinity is filled with these little tricks that define who is the better player far more then the army you are using, great job!
Exactly! Often you only discover them either by doing them by accident or having them done to you. This one was the first one for me 😂
I never thought about that! Thx👍
Glad you found it useful!
Great idea for a video! I have lost so many times just because I can't think of small details like this, love the game but it feels like all my opponents know all the tricks in the book and I don't ;)
Well hopefully you’ll be able to deploy a few tactics of your own by the end of the series!
This is great, easy video to watch on bog breaks during work 😉
😂😂😂
Quality name for a series! Looking forward to more.
Hahaha thank you! Next one coming soon.
Also worth noting that you can do this without peripherals by using a coordinated order
Sacrificing a unit in your link is brutal but you’re right, if you’re at the bottom of turn three and this would win the game who cares about the link surviving!
@@the_infinitygamer I was talking about a random cheap dude as part of a coordinated order, but you can sacrifice a fireteam guy too
Oh of course you were. I rarely have command tokens left so late in the game but it would be a good way to use the last ones up
Couldn the trooper keep his ARO for the second short skill and shoot the bike in this case?
Nope. Because the peripheral is a valid ARO if he fails to declare it he loses his ARO. The only time you can delay an ARO is against a camo token.
There used to be an old playlist on Beasts of war where they explained special rules (Camo, Hacking, Infiltration) and how to combat it (that part was behind paywall). If only they did it again...
I agree. Goonhammer are getting into Infinity write ups and they’re really good.
@@the_infinitygamer You can always just add that as a second half... Toilet Tactics: The Flush.
😂😂😂 maybe that’s what I’ll name the video with all of these in one.
I don't get how this works. It's in direct conflict with the following-
"If, by declaring the second Short Skill of its Order, the active Trooper gives an ARO to enemy Troopers that did not have ARO against the first Short Skill, then those enemy Troopers can declare their AROs."
Your peripheral is linked, but it's a separate trooper from the lawkeeper. They can forgo the ARO against the peripheral and instead wait for the Lawkeeper to emerge. Yes they forfeit the ARO against the peripheral trooper, but that doesn't matter, they get a new one when the Lawkeeper emerges. Or am I missing something here?
The answer lies in your quoted text “...that did not have ARO against the first short skill...” the enemy trooper had a valid ARO against the peripheral after the first short skill. By not declaring it they lose the ability to ARO again. You can’t delay a valid ARO unless you’re facing a camo token.
So basically, the reactive trooper can either declare an ARO against the valid target (the peripheral) after the first short skill or forgo their ARO.
@@the_infinitygamer Does it though? It's not a delay. They are choosing to not take the ARO against the peripheral.
"4. Declaration of AROs: The Reactive Player checks Lines of Fire to the Active Trooper from those Troopers who didn’t declare an ARO before, and can declare any new AROs that are available. "
The trooper hasn't declared an ARO before. They can declare new AROs that are available for troopers that didn't declare before. The Nox doesn't declare anything against the Peripheral.
My understanding here rests on the fact that these are two different troopers. It's not that if you pass on an ARO you can't ARO later, it's that if you pass on an ARO against a trooper, you can't ARO against that trooper later. At least that's my understanding, still figuring out these complicated rules and appreciate your help here.
They don't have a valid ARO against the lawkeeper for the first portion of the short skill, they get an ARO against the lawkeeper on the second short skill.
These are two different troopers, creating their own AROs. No?
Page 21:
“The Reactive Player must declare AROs for all eligible models and markers immediately (in bold) after the Active Player declares his Entire Order or the first Short Skill of his Order (see Order Expenditure sequence on page 21). Troopers that fail to do so lose their ARO against that Order.”
Then we go into the bit you quoted in your previous message. The key here is that the peripheral and the handler are one order, regardless of being seperate troopers. By failing to declare a valid ARO against the first short skill you lose the ability to declare an ARO for the rest of that unit’s order sequence.
BUT event if you could delay the declaration of an ARO against a valid target that isn’t a camo marker (which you can’t) you very rarely would.
In the scenario I show my peripheral gets within 8” and LOF of the Shasvastii trooper. If you were able to forfeit an ARO against the peripheral in the hope the Lawkeeper comes around the corner I would simple change my seconds short skill to shoot you with the peripheral. You have no ARO so it’s an uncontested hit.
Don’t forget that in my example you have the advantage of knowing my intent with the rule so can think of your reaction to my full plan. Consider if, in a game, my first short skill placed a peripheral with a flamethrower in front of your trooper.
Would you really not ARO the peripheral in the hope my second short skill brings the handler into view?
This seems like a good place to ask my noob infinity question: does activating the chain of command skill prevent a loss of lieutenant situation?
Noob questions are always welcome here!
Chain of command is an automatic skill so you don’t have to do anything for it to activate. The CoC unit will automatically become your LT when the original one goes unconscious or is removed from the table. If you heal your original LT your CoC unit will remain the LT regardless.
So yes, if you have a CoC on the table when your LT dies you avoid Loss of Lieutenant situation automatically.
@@the_infinitygamer thanks dude! i really like the game so far, it plays so much better on the table than certain bigger competitors from britain, but the rules are so full of those little interactions that could use just a slightly better explanation in my eyes (especially since it's a three-way translation for me, from spanish to english to german....). your videos have cleared up a couple of those for me, so thanks for that and rock on man!
I couldn’t agree more. Often the rules are a little complex or they seem simple but then there’s nuances to how they resolve. I love the game and hopefully more people can find it 😃
I am considering painting my O-12 white with gold, I hadn't seen any white O-12 before is there some place where I can see pictures of your army for inspiration? I kind of want to check what the white armor plates look like before I go for a weird color scheme.
I have a post on Instagram that shows all my Wildfire units - they’re all white. That might help? @the_infinitygamer
Great vid. I wonder if having the “part number” might hurt the view count? It’s a great series.
I’ve dropped the episode number from the title to see 😄
@@the_infinitygamer Just something I've noticed with videos that have "part A/B/C", people click the first but views drop off for the rest.
That’s perfect. I always appreciate suggestions on how to do the videos better and this one makes perfect sense.
Tasty Vid👍🏻🔝
Thank you Rob!!
Great unless said Nox uses Zapper :) (But I see what you've done!) Haha.
Having been zapped at a critical point of a mission I can say it’s not fun!
