Crochet Granny Stitch Hat
Today we are going to create this easy crochet granny stripe hat. This crochet pattern is super easy. If you can create a granny square, then you will be able to make this crochet beanie without problem.
This hat is created from the top down. You will start out with the basic granny square by increasing rows. Then we will form the sides of the hat by stopping the increases. Finally, we will complete the brim of the crochet granny stitch hat with front post double stitches

I love this yarn, Worsted weight, 4 ply or Aran yarn
5.5mm hook

Your granny square is different than what I was taught. I was taught to chain 2 in between each cluster, and to turn my square instead of slip stitching over. I like the way that yours looks better though.
The ch 1 creates a tighter stitch. I also learned the turning technique first. I prefer to have a wrong side and right side. Turning alternates it.
This is a great tutorial. You did an excellent job! Thank you for taking the time to time stamp when different parts began! My first one that I made came out small. I'm trying another one with a 10-6mm hook. Do you think if I made the granny square base larger before sides began I would get a bigger beanie?. With the 5.5 and 4 worsted this looks just big enough for my 6 year old granddaughter. Any additional tips are welcome. Thank you again!!!❤

It work for child size to. For kids 3-10 yrs remove one increasing row.
