    I am starting on round five and have followed your instructions step by step. You just said you believe this hat will fit you!! I am getting anxious as I really need this to fit a five year old and do not have time to start another project. I am using a size H hook and a four ply yarn just as you recommended. Please, someone assure me I am not making an adult size hat. Thank you!

    Started for large adult size and I had way too much or something. It was rippling instead of being flat. It didn’t correct itself. I assume I need a bigger hook for large size? I have no idea. Using Caron one pound yarn. No clue what ply it is.

    • @CrochetwithClare
      @CrochetwithClare  6 років тому +1

      hello, first of thank you for choosing my videos. caron one pound is a worsted weight yarn and here is classed as a 4 weight yarn. no you do not use a larger hook to make a larger hat although this is a common mistake. to make a larger hat or smaller hat you just either make more or less increase rounds to make it the size you need. for the yarn you are using i would suggest a US size H/5mm hook. that is the hook i suggested for the pattern as well as following along with the written pattern and making the size you want to make that matches that size in the written pattern. www.bobwilson123.org/granny-stitch-hat.html

    • @rockifields
      @rockifields 5 років тому

      bobwilson123 yes I was using a 5mm but doing the start with six verses five clusters of those dc I ended up having an excessive amount of wave of material. Continued hoping it would correct itself and it didn’t. Ended up having to do an entirely different hat all together and I really liked this pattern too.

    • @CrochetwithClare
      @CrochetwithClare  5 років тому

      yes adding more clusters in the start of the hat will cause the curl and binch up. for this one to work you need the 5 at the beginning.

  • @emmamoore1860

    You won't believe this... Heck... I don't believe it... I decided to try this lovely hat... using a skein of cream wool... it was my practice hat... When it was all done, I couldn't understand why it was so big... I somehow, had picked up a larger hook...probably a ten... Must have been daydreaming... Anyway, I'm ripping it out. And starting over... It was just plain big and ugly... sigh...

    • @CrochetwithClare
      @CrochetwithClare  7 років тому

      lol! oh i believe it. this happens to every crocheter at some point. Believe it or not most crocheters do not use the right hooks for the projects they make. It takes a lot of practice to just know what to use
