Or would it remain the same and only change on distrokid? For example, if I have another artist account named “Tony” that I have released music on before, and I use this method to change the name to mine “Rhema Don”, would Tony’s music be removed from that artist account and put on mine? Or if it is a collaboration artist name (e.g Rhema Don & Tony) and I rename it to “Rhema Don”, will the song be taken off Tony’s page? I hope this question makes sense 😭

I recently changed my artist name by mistake without knowing that a request was sent and that I couldn't change it again until that process is finished (never make a change without reading before)... the problem is that I have contacted distrokid and they say that until Apple looks at the request I can't change it back to the original, and in google people say that sometimes it can take more than 7 months. I can't upload music until I go back to my original name, I've done a collaboration recently and I had to put that I don't have an artist page because obviously they remove your song to generate a new page with your new name. I know I made a mistake but it is a very distressing situation because it has stopped everything I had planned with music for an indeterminate time. I thought about being able to delete my artist and create a new one but the only option to delete the account appears, and I have paid for a whole year and I also have another artist so it is not an option. At Apple I can't communicate with anyone so they don't make the change, I've looked at my artist page and fortunately it's still my original name (the one I want to keep), but as soon as they see the request they'll change it to the other one, and in distrokid only I speak with a bot by email that does not give me any answer but to wait. I don't know what to do, it's very sad to be stranded like this. If someone helps me I appreciate it.

Once you upload a band/artist name, that name will be locked to your account and you will not be able to edit or delete it.'

@@RetroReverbRecords this method doesn’t really delete the artist unless you deleted all other songs by the artist. So if you just want another artist slot then this is good if you don’t wanna delete the other artist

@@daddyguappo yes it would revert it back to your original name if you wanted to remove like say another artist like say I wanted to remove Sław “Marmon & Slaw” would change to “marmon” and remove it from slaws page for instance :)

I would delete all other songs from artist b as a first step. this is so distrokid has no releases to confirm that the artist still exists. but if you just want to edit artist b to artist b and artist a then don't delete any other releases and just edit the release once it's greenlit. then artist b will still exist perfectly fine
