Thank you Felix! I'm finally getting started with wanting to expose my music for the world to listen so this video of your was very helpful :) Have a great day!
That's awesome about your music, and I'm glad the video helped. Thanks! I hope you have a nice day too
Extremely helpful, thanks for that.
Nice and instructive video! (:
Had to go through this process a little while back.
Wooo thanks Kalynn! Wow I just found you on Spotify. Beautiful music! My day is shining brighter after listening to This Day Shines Brighter
Awesome video mate. Lifesaver. Cheers!!
Cheers!! Happy it was helpful. Thanks for the comment.
Thank you, Felix! Very helpful!
Sure thing! So happy to hear it was helpful : )
Thanks alot man, this is very helpful
Hey you're very welcome! And thanks I appreciate the comment.
very helpful, Thank you!!
You're very welcome!!
thank you for this video!!! you helped me so much
So happy to hear that!! All the best : )
Hey I went over to your UA-cam. Love your singing! Not sure if you did this on purpose or not, but right now your videos are listed as kids videos, so comments are shut off. If you want to change that, when UA-cam asks if your video is made for kids, say "No, it's not made for kids" The question is worded a little funny. If you did it on purpose, never mind haha.
@@FelixSunMusic thank you!!!! no I didn’t even remembered I had video on this channel! hahahahhaha I m now creating an “official” one to put my music! thank you I ll be careful with the kids thing haha
@@andreita09 Sure thing and cool good luck with that official channel!
How do you get access to your artist account if you already published a song
Fr
do u have the answer i need it
Sehr deutlich, danke!
Bitte!
Wait but if you've already submitted your song through Distrokid to streaming services, how will you be able to apply for editorial playlists? I guess you'd set the release date to at least 4 weeks in the future so you have enough time to go through these steps? Apologies if I'm missing something haha
Hey yes that's exactly it. The moment you get access to your Spotify for Artists account, you can apply for editorial playlists directly in that account. I think setting your release date for at least 4 weeks in the future should be good. More time wouldn't hurt either, but I definitely understand wanting to get your music out there sooner than later too.
Thanx Man!!!
For sure! Best wishes

@@FelixSunMusic I had a moment of panic wondering if I messed up by not creating a Spotify account beforehand, then a friend sent me your video. Phew! 😅
@@aReallySwellGuy Glad to hear that. Good luck with your tracks!
Hi! So quick question, while i do have a Spotify account for listening to music, I have not made one for my actual music (im assuming this is the artist profile you talk about), does distrokid automatically create your profile when you distribute with them? Or is this video describing that once you distribute with distrokid (release music), and once spotfiy has processed your music, you can claim/create you're profile from the uri looker upper?
Hey! Yes, I believe that’s right. Once you distribute with them and spotify has processed your music, you can claim your artist profile using the uri looker upper. It will be a similar process with other distributors as well.
Thanks! So my music is now on spotify, but im still having no look with the URI looker upper, does it typically take like a week for the URI to work, even thought my music is already on spotify?@@FelixSunMusic
Hope that was helpful : ) Let me know if you have any questions, and I'll do my best to help out. Also, apologies for the shaky camerawork.
So does this mean you have to wait 1 week to recieve an emai with a url??
what happens if you have the same name in 1:08 how would you know if its yours?
Thanks, it might be worth noting (for folk like me) - you don't mention that you need a regular Spotify account to access this . I waited 2 weeks (as I did not have a Spotify account) & I'm patient - as soon a I registered for an account I got to the claim artist page. Without that is just asks you to log in so had thought it wasn't ready to claim
Oh thanks for pointing that out! That's really good to know.
@@FelixSunMusic All good. I was just waiting around thinking...meh must just be taking longer for me 🤔. Until I actually read the info 😬 Lol - I'm just too laid back for my own good. But TY for the vid explaining
@@Wal-DarkWater i need help! Im confused I uploaded my track on spotify and its been a week almost but I cant acess spotify for artist my song has been submitted to spotify but will release after 4 days
Hello, I wanted to ask about the profile. My first song was a feature and when I try to claim it it only shows the feature slot it doesn’t show my name as a solo artist how can i fix that so i can claim my spotify artist account as a solo artist
So we can actually open spotify account only by claiming the song we submitted to distrokid? Nd also everytime when i need to upload a song in spotify, i have to do it through distrokid??
Yep. Really helpful. A new string to your musical bow, in 'how to' video's? Good move...;0). Just listened to your Spotify...Lovely. Sweet Dreams from a Cactus Field in the UK
Yayyyyy thanks so much for listening : ) Hope all is well in the UK! And cool emoji!
Quick question I made a Spotify account inside distrokid so How to I get it to be in my account into my Spotify app to access it as my personal passwords and logins
I submitted my music about 2 weeks ago and still don’t have a Spotify uri, what do I do? Distro just says “do it the old way” but it’s my first time so I have no idea what to do
My friend already has a Spotify profile
And he's uploading a track with me and I don't have any Spotify profile how will it work ?
How will I get my profile too??
This stuff needs deep explanation so thanks. Currently about to release my first track of my solo album but I have just found out that my band page, with 5 albums on it, that I am the sole owner of and writer, has been claimed and there is literally zero info or help I can get on this. I find it maddening. About to join distrokid for my first single release and hoping I can resolve it once I am technically a spotify artist...curious if you have any tips. This all should not be this difficult. Going to be sure I get my solo page claimed.
Hope it's smooth sailing with the solo artist debut. That part should be normal, but I'm not sure how the stuff with the band would work (someone else unrelated claimed your band as their own?). Sorry this wasn't much help but good luck!
@FelixSunMusic I’ve been having trouble finding my profile when I try to drop on DistroKid because I have a name that many other artists have, what should I do?
Hello there! It seems avoiding having the same artist name as someone else is usually the best play if possible. But starting all over can be a lot too since you already have things going. Maybe this page could help?
support.distrokid.com/hc/en-us/articles/360015182574-My-music-is-mixed-up-with-another-artist-s-music
Hey! Appreciate the video :) so far I'm only seeing the upc code for my upcoming album but I do not see the like, list of stuff. e.g how it says album, tracks and artists for you. None of that is there, will that come eventually so I can claim my spotify artists profile? Thank you :)
Hello! Yes, I think it's just a matter of waiting a little longer. For mine to show up, it took a few days (maybe even a week) if I'm remembering correctly.
@@FelixSunMusic Thanks so much :) I really appreciate the help
@@FelixSunMusic So what if my song is suppose to drop tomorrow and the URI isn't there yet
@@fabicho777 Hello! I'm not sure. If you haven't already, you could try typing in your artist name (where you would have entered the URI) to see if you come up that way. Other than that you may just have to wait. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
Very helpful video mate, but what if my first song is a song where I’m the feature on it? How I do it then?
Hi! Sorry, I'm not sure. It may be possible to claim your artist profile after the release but not before in this case. Was just reading through this discussion:
www.reddit.com/r/DistroKidHelpDesk/comments/16rjvkc/how_can_a_featured_artist_on_my_song_create_their/
hey i just recieved how my song is in all stores just yesterday, my lyrics and everything and my first song will be release January 5th 2024. The problem i am having is when pressing the artist or manager tab. it ask me to sign in. i don't understand so do i just keep waiting or do i have to sign up for spotify which if that's the case is going to suck right because i would have to pay even though i don't hear music on spotify and this is me just trynna to claim the page so i can start editing my layout like the bio and everything. Please help as this is my first time finally releasing music even though won't be out till the 5th so i can use all this time for promotion and other things to build the hype.
Hi I don't think you need a regular spotify account. After you click "Artist or Manager" you should be taken to a page where you can paste your artist URI (you can find that from Distrokid here: distrokid.com/uri/spotify/) . Or did you try that already and got something else?
having same problem, tried wht u said@@FelixSunMusic
So my song is 1:52 seconds but for whatever reason before I chose to upload it it had said it was gonna be 1:00 long and that 52 seconds matter lol since the. Song is already short when the song is done uploading on all platforms will it revert to being 1:52 seconds again ?
Oh dang sorry. Getting 52 seconds cut off would be unfortunate for sure. I'm not sure what's going on but will let you know if I find anything out. Good luck 🤞
Hello! I have a Spotify artist account, but I don t know how to merge it with my own account on the actual Spotify app. How do I do that?
Hey! Sorry for the delay and unfortunately I'm not sure. Does this help at all? community.spotify.com/t5/Content-Questions/User-vs-artist-account/td-p/4979842
Hey I’m confused because I made account on my phone and the song drop on a different account and I don’t got access to it can you help
Hey! Sorry to hear that. When you say, "the song drop on a different account" do you mean that the song came out under a different artist's name? Or something else? Not sure if any of the following would help. I typed your comment into chat gpt to see what suggestions it could come up with
Check your login credentials: Ensure that you are using the correct login credentials for the account that the song was released under. Double-check the email address or username and the associated password.
Password reset: If you're unsure about the password or suspect that it might be incorrect, try resetting the password for the account.
Contact Spotify support: Reach out to Spotify's support team for assistance with accessing your account. Explain the situation and provide any relevant information they may need to verify your identity.
Confirm the song release: Make sure that the song was indeed released under your artist account. Sometimes, it could be a misunderstanding or a different artist with a similar name.
bro it won't let me do anything . on any browser . as soon as i hit artists or record label , it takes me to the sign in , when distrokid is the thing that made my spotify . this shit pissing me off because ishowspeed had me perform a song on his stream and now that it's posted i have 0 control over anything .
Hey sorry to hear that :/ Where are you in the process exactly and how long has it been since you submitted your tracks to Distrokid?
Same did you ever figure it out

Hi mb a little bit a help?
Sorry for the grammatical mistakes.
So, I have an account with a name that appeared to me that it is already on spotify and it asked me for the Spotify URI looker-upper and when I entered to add it
it didn't let me, because I didn't post anything on spotify, so I put a name that was no longer on spotify and it posted my song, now the question is, how do I access that account? name or password or something?
1:27 i click artist and show me to connect to spotify, i have another account on spotifiy, and on distrokid another.... so where i put URI???
Hey sorry I'm not sure exactly what's going on. After you click "Artist or manager" there should be a box where you can paste your URI. That's not working?
After I changed name and post my song it show me URI...guess I can control now spotify with spotify artist, right?
If I'm understanding correctly, yes. If you have your spotify artist account already, you can use that to edit your spotify profile.
how can I enter to my spotify account or how can I know the password and username that distrokid made for me after releases the tracks ?
Hey this is how it worked for me. I believe you do need a regular Spotify user account (can get one for free) but am not sure.
1. Submit your tracks to DistroKid
2. DistroKid sends your tracks to Spotify
3. Wait a little
4. DistroKid will give you a URI for your release distrokid.com/uri/spotify
5. Go to the Spotify for Artists Page
6. Click "Get Access"
7. Enter the URI and follow instructions to setup your artists account
Once that's all done you'll have a spotify for artists account that you can edit. Hope that helps.
I do not have an account and when I ask Distrokid to make a new one how do I log in to an account and know the password and I can log in
Hi there! When you make an account do they ask you to create a password? Or if you made a password and forgot, there should be an option to reset your password
Hi my artist name is not showing up. There’s 4 tracks on Spotify by me.
Hi! Do you mean your artist name is not searchable on Spotify (even though the songs are there)? How long have your tracks been out for? I remember immediately after my first release, I could find the song but not search my artist name. After waiting a day or two, the situation resolved itself.
If you're referring to claiming your artist profile, did you try using the URI looker-upper? distrokid.com/uri/spotify
I need help can’t get access to Spotify for artists no matter what I do and it’s infuriating my track has been out almost three months just shy by a few days
Dang sorry to hear that. Are the steps in the video not working? After you click "Get access" and then "Artist or Manager" are you able to use the spotify URI looker upper to find your URI and paste that?
Hello, they send me this after i send them my UPC, any idea what's happening?
"Looking backstage, we can see that we haven't received metadata for your upcoming release.
We request you to reach out to your distributor. Once we receive the metadata, we will take another look."
Hello, perhaps your distributor hasn't sent your tracks over yet? If you've uploaded them and have been waiting a while already, I'd recommend contacting your distributor.
Based on my experience, Distrokid will get back to you, but sometimes they take a while (like around a week).
@@FelixSunMusic thank you for replying back, i have my track's release date on the April 8th, does this matter in this case? I mean, does it have to be release officially and THEN claim my artist profile?
Cause i can see my UPC already (artist and song).
@@McLps You can claim your artist profile before the release for sure. Did you already do the step where you copy your artist URI and then go to artists.spotify.com/home ? 1:08
@@FelixSunMusic yea i did, and got the email that they haven't received metadata for my upcoming release. Even tho i can see everything is okay
@@McLps Oh ok. Not really sure what's going on other than that maybe distrokid is being slow to send over the metadata. Trying to get in touch with them is worth a shot if you haven't done that already. Sorry I couldn't be of more help!
Does this only work when your song releases?
Hey! You can claim your profile before the song releases
It has no where to paste my artist link. It just has email or username option
you have to login with an account and then it will give you the option to put in the uri
so do you log into spotify artists with your personal Spotify account? then does it become an artist profile that you can edit?
or does distrokid make a whole new account for you and then you have to paste that code and you then get access to the new artist account that distrokid made?
im pretty confused
Hey I think there are a few ways to do it. This is how it worked for me. I'm a little fuzzy on the difference between personal account and artists account too.
1. Submit your tracks to DistroKid
2. DistroKid sends your tracks to Spotify
3. Wait a little
4. DistroKid will give you a URI for your release distrokid.com/uri/spotify
5. Go to the Spotify for Artists Page
6. Click "Get Access"
7. Enter the URI and follow instructions to setup your artists account
Once that's all done you'll have a spotify for artists account that you can edit. Hope that helps.

@@superamimo4653 Hi, I believe you're correct! I think generally you do need a distributor (although I'm sure there are other ways too) and a personal account like you said.

Can I claim my Spotify artist page after my first song is released?
Hi yes you can. I think it would basically be the same process as claiming it before the release.
Does this get you the blue check mark?
Hey! Yes, if you use DistroKid as your distributor you'll get a blue check mark on Spotify. Many other distributors will get you the same thing, but I haven't used them. If your music is already live, but there's no check mark, I'm not sure exactly how to get one from there, but I'm sure it's possible.
