This point that Rasputin survived as something that is causal against a power of para-causality makes me wonder if there is a hidden power that causality can have. Makes me think about kinetic weapons that still have power with our guardians against the Witnesses' forces. I wonder if that causality may be a power we can use against the para-causality of the light and the darkness.
The technological wonders of a Bray, the knowledge of the Eliksni Splicers and the experience of Psions. Oboy that's gonna be one hell of a body for Rasputin, likely par or rivaling his own son, Felwinter.
Thank you for these deep lore videos. I love the grimoire books and your take on all these subjects is just so impressive to take in. Keep those eyes up guardian!
The roots and vines might just be the same thing that erupts from Rhulk at the end of Vow of Desciple raid. Rhulk just as Rasputin is affected by darkness each in their own way so that would make sense for Ana to find something like that within Rasputin`s remainings (mental and physical).
I really hope we see Rasputin return to some sort of glory. He's such an interesting character (or rather a force? He's much more than just a character) and it would be a shame to see him go. The sheer power he held/holds, the knowledge, the danger he is to everyone including his allies. There's so much potential with him. I'd like to see him come into his own as a character, learn to control his power once again. And in that, teach us guardians how to control it too, giving us a SIVA/Seraph subclass. Or the Traveler step in and pulses him with light after Ana and co's experiments fail and he "dies", giving us Rasputin as a Guardian ready to join us in the field...
If and/or when Rasputin debuts as an Exo...I want James Spader to do the voice acting for him...intermittently lapsing back into the big booming Russian we've become accustomed to.

@@MrMurder0321 ...you don't consider the season where our greatest foe showed up on our doorstep to vanish 4 whole planets memorable? Or the one where we made friends with the reincarnation of Cayde's killer? When we made friends with the Cabal? Or when we welcomed the Eliksni and narrowly avoided a coup and subsequent race war?
We should also note that Rasputin has typically not welcomed any other attempts at saving humanity in the past (see: Death of the Iron Lords) and has only recently allowed himself to work alongside the vanguard but still sees himself above them. This will be interesting when he learns of or his sensors pick up the signs of our new coalition and friends in the House of Light. If he is in an Exo frame and doesn't initially have access too his arsenal perhaps everything will go okay but if this is not the case then our carefully built alliance may be erased by someone thought to be an ally.
So Rasputin is gonna be a super cool Exo hybrid with solar javelins as his Super? Siva? And access to the interplanetary defense system? Sweet. Great imagery with bleeding code. I bet Exo Rasputin interfaces and makes new code. Maybe Intuit’s similar code. I bet he gets revived by the Light. I also really liked the guy who says Seraph Energy might have imbued his circuitry with paracausal powers.
If I to guess on the brambles and thorns, I would say that because Anna is technically in Rasputin's "mind" it could be his trauma from his encounter with the darkness and not the actual darkness itself, and Anna grabbing the Valkyrie could be her finally reaching his consciousness at the center of that trauma which in a way of reassures him that he's "safe", thus the bramble and thorns wither away...
Just a thought, thinking about the brambles. It's kind of interesting to consider that when Rhulk dies he turns into Brambles. Perhaps this is some sort of darkness/corruption?
I have a theory about the rebuilding of Rasputin. What about the Darkness forge? The same tech the witness used to reverse/understand why he failed at the first attack on SOL system. Wouldn't it be possible to use the forge to essentially go back in time and use an older version of Rasputin? If we can forge a weapon from memories.. wouldn't it work for Rasputin who is in essence a weapon? An incredibly intelligent and powerful one but a weapon none the less?
We need the lore Book "Ana Frayed" to be a the opening cut scene for next season, a before, showing what happened, and Lore Master Byf should Direct it, I think it will be superb
I firmly believe that by the end of Destiny 2, all of the different races will come together under one banner to defeat the darkness. I think the cabal fallen hive and humans will team up. They will forcibly obtain control of the vex and form alliances with the Lucent Hive. I also think an entirely new species and enemy type will be introduced soon. Just my thoughts.
This is Rasputin's becoming of a "light bearer". He died and got reborn in the light by Ana's ghost, thats why the remains of darkness recoils from its presence. If this is true, that means wr gonna have a warmind powered by light and siva tech, pretty cool
Re-listening this it makes ask something. In season of the Risen and Haunted they make it a point to say that psions can only join the minds of those who possess the light. So unless this is a reckon of that fact, I think Rasputin might have some residual light in it, like how Shin Malphur was saved as a baby by a ghost. Similarly, I've always believed in the theory that because of how complex and massive Rasputin as a system and an AI is that he'll evolve into a paracausal being. There's lore from D1 that suggests that Rasputin will undertake a change in order to when against the Darkness, and that it knows how to
Really wish Shiro-4 makes a return next season, might not be related to the situation with Rasputin or Ana, but can definitely be something interesting with any leftovers of the Warmind on Earth, the Moon, or Mars
I think the vine withering isnt do directly from rasputin or the javelin. Ana even says with splicer tech, my LIGHT, and brain juice. Maybe anas light combined with the javelin is what withered the plants.
Not that I know for sure, but it seems to me that Seraph Energy is some kind of Light-proxy. And ol' Razzy was pretty much made of the stuff. Like a diluted version of Light (Seraph weapons can emit Light-like energies). Larger darkness attacks could obviously overpower; but weaker darkness energies, like poisons, would be evenly matched with high enough concentrations of Seraph. This is my own personal head-canon.
Speaking of the mind scape that Ana found the thorns and Valkyrie, let’s me point out that what was remaining of Rasputin wasn’t just digitally or Causally uploaded to the engram, as the first lore entry stated he was uploaded using the Light of the Ghost Jinju as a conduit, whatever remains of Rasputin could very well be “charged with light” which is why whatever cloying affects of the darkness was shying away from what was left of his consciousness, assuming this doesn’t have any other further implications down the road for Rasputin
Having Rasputin have a physical body, would mean a ton of things, though not having the vast stores of servers and memory banks he once did, they may have only saved a, basically delirious and almost beaten down old man...alternatively once given a body this could very well lead to a new Cade if peoples theories are to be believed.
Could the thorns and vines be a symbolism for Siva since siva weapons kinda look like it. Like Rasputin consciousness was stored within the siva subroutine?
Greetings Byf, my name is GHOST ツ, I play from the D1 beta and I must admit I love your channel. Greetings from the happiest place on earth Tijuana!!! yes it's my first comment but man I never miss a video :)
@My name is Byf Dude, I just had an idea on how Red will be fully resurrected. Given Felwinter was essentially a disembodied part of Rasputin, it would be likely that Felwinters Ghost would be compatible with Rasputin. Granted said Ghost is somewhat dead and infected with Siva. However now we have the Deepsight/Resonance power and the Relic. It may be possible to use the Relic to revert the Ghost to a living state in its past (Like Ikora did with the Worm), potentially making it able to fully resurrect Rasputin. Perhaps not as a light bearing Guardian, but as a Resonance wielding Dark Guardian much like Eris with Stasis. The Javelin may be a reference to the Light in all living things, Red's inherent Light would reasonably be greater than Felwinters was given Felwinter being but a part of Rasputin. The Witness likely could see how much of threat he was based on that Light. Thus they attempted to engulf and imprison him to prevent his resurrection. We could potentially even use the same method to resurrect Sagira...or even Sundance... Maybe even all the Hive Ghosts we crushed and the Ghosts the Lucent Hive destroyed. Probably only do that if Savathûn fully joins the alliance proper. I would laugh if we got Eliksni and Cabal Risen too, especially if Taniks and Ghaul were among them.
I just hope we get a bit more showing in the game of Rasputin defeating a threat that a fireteam of guardians could not but then the guardians have to help stop the hive magic of the boss as Rasputin is better than a guardian at traditional force but we are the magic ones
I fight in the name of the Warmind, and by extension, the Bray family. Not even in the name of the traveler anymore, from whom our power stems. The traveler is a loose cannon, a coward. Rasputin is a constant, even in a weakened state, ready to fight for the protection of humanity.
Destiny 2 intro for the next season : "Somehow Rasputin has returned" I really wish Ana would use Siva tech to build the new exo body suited for the Warmind and then we could see him wielding Siva just as we use the Ligt !
I hope we will still have time to explain why we have no time to explain what happened while Razputin was gone and why he should not shoot these kabal out if orbit and vaporize those eliksni in the city...
Rasputin was created by us in the golden age but I don't think it is the same construct we created i think the best analogy i can think of is veger from the original star trek movie it started out as a simple machine but grew into something much more. Which is why I believe it partially survived an attack by the witness
Are Valkyries usable by anyone other than Guardians? It may eb that they are weapons designed by Rasputin to shape/be fueled by Light. If they are, it may well be that the brambles ARE Dark in nature, and it's Ana's Light that is being used to burn them back.
Imagine Rasputin's restoration goes awry and he isn't completely operational, and what does remain attacks everyone as a defense mechanism because it sees everything as a threat to its own system - including Ana, who is (as I'm led to believe) still practicing using Stasis in her spare time with sister Elsie the Stranger. Do you think she and Elsie will have to go to Clovis in the depths of the Deep Stone Crypt for assistance or will there be a proper backup with an additional body or containment unit within the Nefele Stronghold? I think that's a secret but huge Seraph Bunker of some kind either a space station around one of the Gas Giants or underneath the Traveller and the Last City itself...
Last time Rasputin used siva he killed his son, so considering Ana said that placing Rasputin in the pillory engram could make him ‘more’ insane, giving a crazy Warmind Siva, could spell disaster.
What if the thorns are a result of the darkness shutting rasputin down and are draining what's left of rasputin. Anna felt her sense of self waver when they drew blood from her so... Perhaps they recoiled less due to the act of moving the valkry, and more to the act of paracausal and causal entities interacting in a supportive manner
Rasputin is indeed very powerful. Though the darkness destroyed him with ease, it required a conscious effort on the Darkness's part, much the way swatting a tiny bug requires an effort on our part. He's well protected, but with the right team, we can punch through those defenses, take this beast out, and break their grip on Freehold.

INDEED
I really wish Bungie would contract Byf to do narration for Lore entries, lore books, and the Timeline tab in Destinations. He’s like the Morgan Freeman of knowledgeable Destiny narration.
Cheers Byf! Appreciate you. Take those breaks, get that personal time in, and always grateful to have you come back and keep going!
Something cool would be, that once we got Rasputin back, as an Exo perhaps, they could be used in a raid or strike as a NPC that follows the player.
And then the player can summon nukes with him.
or we can make a raid within rasputin's biggest stronghold
Just no
i like to think that by the combination of the darkness used to destroy Rasputin and the light used to salvage him they may have inadvertently caused him to ascend to be somewhat paracausal and this is why with that final push of Ana grasping the Valkyrie Spear in the same way we have grasped the Synaptic spear it is able to cleanse the darkness rot and revive Rasputin...
I’m SO glad you’re going into Ana and Rasputin again. I loved them as characters, but I hardly hear or see anything about them anymore. I never buy season passes either because I’m always broke, so even just getting to hear stuff about what happens in dialogue during paid seasonal activities is wonderful.
With this re-finding/building of Rasputin, I’m left wondering, could we maybe have to seek out felwinter’s remains to help re-build Rasputin? And maybe end up remaking felwinter but with the understanding and resolve of Rasputin ? 🤔
Edit: Replies, I know felwinter went down due to siva. I was just kind of hoping that after being destroyed by us that maybe while working on Rasputin, Ana B could seek out the memory data and body of Felwinter and purge it of siva with the help of her grandfather. Then use the memory data and body of Felwinter and the Rasputin fragment to bring Felwinter back but with Rasputin like power.
Wasn't Felwinter completely SIVAfied and destroyed?
@@fuckinantipope5511 Yeah he was made into one of those Siva Golems. The body in his "tomb" seems to be some sort of energy construct or something.
Felwinter's remains were one of the three SIVA-infested 'golems' you fight at the end of the Rise of Iron campaign.
@@MrBlueBurd0451 we are getting a dungeon next season and with the talk of shiro 4 potentially coming back and the hints of a Rasputin season, Could be were we go back to the chamber and recover felwinters body and cleanse it of siva for rasputin to be reborn into a exo
@@michaelcunningham2111 Rasputin is already being remade into an Exo though. Ana recovered a prototype/experimental exo frame from the Braytech labs, and with the help of both Psions and Splicers is working on installing the remains of Rasputin's mind into it. That's literally what this vid is about.
I can count on one hand how many UA-camrs I constantly watch and you my good sir are number 1. I enjoy your take on lore.
Everyone in Sol, and the Witness: “I thought you were dead?
Rasputin: “my death was highly exaggerated”. “Also, my name is literally Rasputin, what else did you expect?”
I enjoy spending time reading the lore at my own leisure, but I like your videos that help me connect the dots and bring up pieces I may have missed.
Imagine Rasputin comes back in an exo and is able to interface with siva for some guardian like strength, that would be so sick. It’s regenerative, it’s crazy powerful, powerful enough that it killed three guardians. Idk just a cool concept to think about
Season of the Legacy: Banshee remembers his life as Clovis Bray, and while having a internal conflict about his own identity the story focuses on him helping us to resurrect Rasputin (Clovis created Rasputin). Also having him as a new "ally". It would be fun, like "i created you to defend humanity and for myself you will do it"
This would also open field into the Season of the Pleague. Bray would know many things about the SIVA (in the case he didnt make the SIVA as well
What if Rasputin took over Banshee's body, since clovis made it extra durable and different from the other exos?
@@clevelandjames8450 Nah, i want Clovis.

Good sir, You were the first lore master I saw your video on the entire history of destiny from a year or two ago. I sent that to about 20 people and then I started watching all your stuff and I fell in love with you and that's how I found all of the other lore masters was through you
A new Warmind themed season has so much to offer. Warmind weapons, Cell mods, potential SIVA return. And new Warmind or Seraph weapons means so much more power
It possible for Warmind Season for Season 17 which is happening very soon and next two weeks Bungie will be Release more info about Season 17 weapons and armor and storyline and Solar 3.0 or Arc 3.0 for next Subclass 3.0 upgrade
@@Shadow-s5x Solar seems most likely as well, based on leaks, although personally I think Arc needs it more.
@@MrJakeasaur98 arc is last cause it needs the most time to rework and hunters are getting a whole new arc super tree so they need the time to make sure they get it right
@@cgray5429 yeah I imagine most of solar doesn't need to change balance-wise, whereas arc needs new abilities and supers to bring it up to par with void and solar - especially arc strider. I'm hoping they do some sort of single use projectile arc javelin that leaves an area of effect or does some big aoe damage. Then they could bring in an exotic that works like celestial to refocus it to single target damage or vice versa.
@@MrJakeasaur98 I actually would love to see something like that happen
Would be awesome to come up with some "Last City Stories". Everyday people, dealing with the struggles of everyday living. Being able to see your destruction in the sky and everywhere outside of the walls of the city. How they deal with the changing narrative in their lives. 100s of years passed with everyone buying into the Light vs. Dark War. To having to accept the light and dark are not inherently good or evil. They're just a source of power.
The Splicers must be honored to be a part of resurrecting something that to them is akin to a deity.
It's fun to listen to your take and how you tend to add real references to help further the point
No hate to any of the other lore masters here on UA-cam but I always look forward to your videos because I find many of the opinions you have line up really well with my own, and every time you make an assumption you always back it up with facts from the lore and not just personal opinion. I always look forward to Byf vids!
You are the ONLY destiny lore master I listen to. I’m sure the other people are great at what they do. But as far as I am concerned you are the only one.
Thanks for all the videos! Your the reason why I love destiny lore and have a deeper and bigger appreciation for the game and it’s story.
I believe "Pstan" is a play on Stan and Psion, IE: "That's the plan, Stan!"
How are you not at 1 million yet? You've done such great things like lore updates and of course the story of thorn and last word, and the masterpiece known as Dynasty!
I usually just come and watch, but I just want to say thank you for making these videos - they give me a greater understanding of the Destiny universe and it's always handy to know things for when people ask questions (I'll even send them here for it explained better). You're my go-to for Destiny lore and I appreciate all the hard work you and your editor(s?) do :D
My theory. Anna will ultimately fail in raising rasputin in his new experimental exo frame. But then a searching ghost enters the room
Cant wait for next season :) thanks for the great videos as always byf
I love listening to you byf. Your like a pod cast for me to listen about destiny lore. Since i have premium i can turn off my phone and still listen to you silk story telling voice. Keep them comeing.
Impressive bit of digging. Enjoy the lore any day of the week.
I love watching your videos and I always enjoy listening to your input on the lore of Destiny!
When rhulk dies it looks like bramble and thorns, so probably darkness
You will always be my favorite Warlock / Lore master
Really excited to see where the Warmind story goes. Hoping it shows up by season 18. You're the man Byf
You’re the best Byf! Keep on keeping on 🙏
If and/or when Rasputin debuts as an Exo...I want James Spader to do the voice acting for him...intermittently lapsing back into the big booming Russian we've become accustomed to.
*YYYY-Y-Y-YEAH!*
Russian Ultron? Hell yeah.
Imagine Bungie dropping a mini dlc covering amazing lore every 30 days! I know it’s asking a lot but I can only imagine how amazing some of these stories would be to actually play
Aren't you just describing a season lol
Isn’t that what seasons are?
amazing lore? yes that's good, but what about game play? or many other stuff that requires attention?
@@mediocregamer2484
I can’t really think of a season that’s been memorable other than Saint’s maze because it caused me great heartache.
Ras coming back as an exo... But dies....Ras is chosen by the light
I highly doubt that will happen cause than he would just be to overpowered and if he turned against us were fucked
It would be a poetic thing consider his "son" Felwinter.
Wow almost a million subscribers @.@ you deserve it man
Another great video Byf!
FINALLY this is talked about
Everyone is so chill about her making Ultron 2.0,
If I to guess on the brambles and thorns, I would say that because Anna is technically in Rasputin's "mind" it could be his trauma from his encounter with the darkness and not the actual darkness itself, and Anna grabbing the Valkyrie could be her finally reaching his consciousness at the center of that trauma which in a way of reassures him that he's "safe", thus the bramble and thorns wither away...
Theoretically we could. We turned a petrified worm husk back into a living worm then a grenade launcher

This is Rasputin's becoming of a "light bearer". He died and got reborn in the light by Ana's ghost, thats why the remains of darkness recoils from its presence. If this is true, that means wr gonna have a warmind powered by light and siva tech, pretty cool
I have to say that I get the feeling that one could not play a minute of Destiny and have at least 95% of the story just by watching your videos.
There's lore from D1 that suggests that Rasputin will undertake a change in order to when against the Darkness, and that it knows how to
Rasputin, instead of becoming some planetary defense system plugs himself into the forge on Mars and gives us Valkyrie Weapons.
Really wish Shiro-4 makes a return next season, might not be related to the situation with Rasputin or Ana, but can definitely be something interesting with any leftovers of the Warmind on Earth, the Moon, or Mars
Mr "I have no equal"
Where'd all that trash talk go, jazzy?
What if after season of the haunted we get a season where we need clovis' help to get rasputin up and running
11:36 why did i hear “fuck off” for a split second 😂😂😂
The ‘P’ is silent when pronouncing ‘Psion’…..I think in Ana’s mind, she says ‘stan’ with that silent ‘P’. So ‘Pstan’ was born. (Clever writing Bungie)
That particular psion is Pstan now. Pstanly the Psion.
I think the vine withering isnt do directly from rasputin or the javelin. Ana even says with splicer tech, my LIGHT, and brain juice. Maybe anas light combined with the javelin is what withered the plants.
My money is Raspy ending up as an exotic Glaive with some sort of Valkyrie attack mode.
Glad you came back dad!!! Thought you went for milk/smokes….it’s been a min
I love that Psions can possess a sense of humor.
WOOO LOVE YOU BYF
Byf the man.
Having Rasputin have a physical body, would mean a ton of things, though not having the vast stores of servers and memory banks he once did, they may have only saved a, basically delirious and almost beaten down old man...alternatively once given a body this could very well lead to a new Cade if peoples theories are to be believed.
I hope we end up having Ana go to the crypt at some point. I feel she would find a lot of stuff she needs on Europa
Could the thorns and vines be a symbolism for Siva since siva weapons kinda look like it. Like Rasputin consciousness was stored within the siva subroutine?
Siva season lesss go
@@jacksonwyse7524 can't wait

I would laugh if we got Eliksni and Cabal Risen too, especially if Taniks and Ghaul were among them.
sure this is going to be a banger video
I just hope we get a bit more showing in the game of Rasputin defeating a threat that a fireteam of guardians could not but then the guardians have to help stop the hive magic of the boss as Rasputin is better than a guardian at traditional force but we are the magic ones
I have a feeling one of these seasons leading to lightfall, Rasputin will be in an exo body, and probably weird stasis.
Rasputin: i simply am not there
i cannot WAIT to have rasputin as a vendor in the tower.
I fight in the name of the Warmind, and by extension, the Bray family. Not even in the name of the traveler anymore, from whom our power stems. The traveler is a loose cannon, a coward. Rasputin is a constant, even in a weakened state, ready to fight for the protection of humanity.
Destiny 2 intro for the next season : "Somehow Rasputin has returned"
I really wish Ana would use Siva tech to build the new exo body suited for the Warmind and then we could see him wielding Siva just as we use the Ligt !
Cue Muse, "Our time is running out"
Imagine Rasputin's restoration goes awry and he isn't completely operational, and what does remain attacks everyone as a defense mechanism because it sees everything as a threat to its own system - including Ana, who is (as I'm led to believe) still practicing using Stasis in her spare time with sister Elsie the Stranger.
It's probably going to happen once more at most considering their namesake
Could Rasputin, once in the Exo shell, use Siva to rebuild/reimagine his form?
That would be cool
Last time Rasputin used siva he killed his son, so considering Ana said that placing Rasputin in the pillory engram could make him ‘more’ insane, giving a crazy Warmind Siva, could spell disaster.
What if the thorns are a result of the darkness shutting rasputin down and are draining what's left of rasputin. Anna felt her sense of self waver when they drew blood from her so... Perhaps they recoiled less due to the act of moving the valkry, and more to the act of paracausal and causal entities interacting in a supportive manner
